This week we welcome Robert J. Peterson, author of The Odds, and a new horror novel called Strong Bones. He has come to talk about how novels are the greatest and how Stephen King might be its greatest modern practitioner. We talk about the author's faults as well as his virtues and we have a good time making lists of our favorite works. Some of our choices are truly against the grain. Then, in the second half of the episode, we shift gears and lay down a pretty strong primer on how to write a novel from scratch including how to use beta readers to check you on your bullshit. Many questions are tackled including, what does it take to wrangle those myriad thoughts, characters, and plotlines into some semblance of order? This is a must-listen for fledgling writers and creatives.     He can be contacted @califcoldblood on Twitter.  Follow us! The apocalypse happened, but no one knows how. What’s left is a barren world ruled by a high-powered caste of bookies, The Odds. Scurrying around underneath is our hero, Eldridge—a big-hearted, bumbling drifter with an estranged family he loves dearly. He’s deep in debt and deathly sick, so he places a bet predicting the day he’ll die. If he wins, he can go to his grave knowing that his family will be safe, but when he returns to his hometown to collect, he gets some bad news: He’s going to live. So it’s on to plan B—a high-stakes battle-tournament that pits real-life chess avatars against each other in random-chance brawls-to-the-death. But Eldridge doesn’t know that someone’s gamed the tournament to pit him against an old friend who’s now a bitter enemy.   All in the new book from California Coldblood publishing:The Odds.Learn more from author Robert J Peterson not only about this book but about the other great things coming from Califorina Coldblood. The Odds is available atAmazon.com,Barnes and... Robert J. Peterson joins me from CC2K Online to talk about his brand new novel The Odds, currently going through a Kickstarter campaign! The Odds sounds awesome, equal parts Big Trouble in Little China, Battle Royale and… chess! We also plug our upcoming Comikaze panel with producer Michael Uslan and actor Thomas Jane! And why not use this opportunity to discuss the problems with the Punisher movies? Does Robert think that they do anything right? Also, Jonathan explains the brand new, Muslim Green Lantern and explains why he deserves to be read! And Robert says that Keanu Reeve's 'Side by Side' does a great job of exploring the discussion between film and digital!
