Welcome to the wildest late-night ride on the radio! Hosted by the irreverent and sharp-witted Lionel, The Other Side of Midnight dives into the weird, the wild, and the totally unexpected. This caller-driven show bounces seamlessly from the hidden racist origins of "Reefer Madness" and declassified CIA plots to hide truth serum in beer, to deep-dives exposing the reckless reality behind the Kennedy family's "Camelot" mystique. Toss in some hilarious pop-culture nostalgia—including an obsession with 70s game show host John Davidson's hair and Robert De Niro's screaming meltdowns—alongside a raw look at modern society's relentless rage. Whether it's tackling UFOs as ancient spiritual entities, unraveling deep-web true crime conspiracies, or debating whether humans should live forever, it's a fast-paced cocktail of culture, conspiracy, and midnight mysteries. In this episode of Previously On, Jillian's joined by her husband Tyler to break down the first four episodes of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, the FX and Hulu series chronicling the iconic, chaotic romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. This covers "Pilot," "The Pools Party," "America's Widow," and "I Love You."Jillian (resident Kennedy historian since her middle school Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis project) forces Tyler to enter the world of Camelot, Calvin Klein minimalism, and peak 90s New York. From JFK Jr.'s enviable Manhattan schedule (gym, Central Park football, black-tie events) to Carolyn's ultimate cool-girl mystique, we dive into why this is a full-on vibes show and why we're obsessed. We get into:The dreamy 90s NYC aestheticThe fashion and music moments (hello, Calvin Klein and “Linger”)Why telling someone it's a “party” when it's actually your sister's birthday dinner is diabolicalThe Darryl Hannah takedown we weren't ready forWhy we don't care about the exact facts because "it's a love story, baby just say yes"Plus, Tyler's takes and what's coming next in the next couple episodes (Central Park fight? It's our FIVE YEAR anniversary, and we've reached the finale of SG1 Season 9 with Camelot. Luckily, they did get renewed for season 10; otherwise, that would have been one hell of a cliffhanger. This is a fun episode with some really great guest stars. Of course, the kids know where the forbidden place is because kids always know where that stuff is. We did enjoy the running gag of the team getting beamed away every time they tried to convince the locals that magic doesn't exist. They really needed to do it one more time, though. Three is the magic comedy number. The final space battle is really impressive. And seeing Sam just floating in space as she watches the destruction is very evocative. What kind of leadership can hold a fractured democracy together?About the GuestStephen Schlesinger is an American historian, author, and foreign policy analyst. The son of Arthur Schlesinger Jr.—Pulitzer Prize–winning historian and special assistant to President John F. Kennedy—and grandson of Arthur Schlesinger Sr., he grew up at the centre of one of America's most distinguished intellectual families. Schlesinger is the author of Act of Creation: The Founding of the United Nations, and has written widely on American foreign policy and international institutions. He knew both John and Robert Kennedy personally, and brings a rare insider perspective to the history of American liberalism.About This Episode"He went around the table asking us, 'Do you still believe in God?' — this was 1967, he was already being considered for the presidency. Why would a man of this intensity and ambition be talking about these issues?" - Stephen Schlesinger After two days exploring the surveillance state and the ethics of unmasking—with Andrew Guthrie Ferguson on how your data will be used against you and Christopher Mathias on the fight to expose the radical right—Andrew Keen steps back to ask a larger question: What kind of leadership can hold a fractured democracy together?Stephen Schlesinger joins the show from the Upper West Side of New York to offer a historian's perspective—and a personal one. From his father's role in Camelot to his own memories of playing touch football with Bobby Kennedy at Hickory Hill, Schlesinger reflects on what made the Kennedy brothers effective leaders in a divided country, and what lessons their example holds for progressives today. The conversation moves from the founding of the republic (one-third pro-British) through the Civil War to the present fracture, and asks whether elections remain democracy's "great solver"—or whether something has fundamentally changed.Chapters:00:00 Introduction On the road in New York, beside Columbia University01:10 What Has Happened to America? Welcome to Kennedys Month at Right Answers Mostly. We're kicking things off at the very beginning: the building of the Kennedy dynasty and the man behind it all, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.. The Kennedy story begins with famine in Ireland, and a risky escape to Boston, Massachusetts. We unpack how Juicy Joe built his fortune, pulled the strings behind the scenes, and paved the way for his sons, most famously John F. Kennedy, to enter politics. Was it clean? Not exactly. Was it effective? Absolutely. From backroom deals to carefully crafted public images, this is the origin story of how the Kennedys didn't just enter American politics, they conquered it, and sealed their place as American royalty. Tread Perilously's winter request month concludes with an episode of Merlin called "Beauty and the Beast." When a troll sets her sights on the riches of Camelot, she takes a potion to assume the identity of a conventionally beautiful noble in the hopes of securing Uther Pendragon's heart. Gaius suspects her immediately as he treated the aristocrat before for an incurable bone disease. Uther, however, is almost immediately smitten. But his devotion to the long-passed Igraine gives him some pause the troll must counter with more magic. Can Merlin summon up enough of his own to reveal the troll before she and Uther marry? Troll 2 almost immediately makes its way into the conversation. Erik and Justin attempt to separate their own familiarity with Arthurian legend from the one depicted in Merlin. Although barely appearing in this episode, they also highlight Katie McGrath. A Tolkien discussion breaks out, naturally enough. Erik has a difficult time accepting an Uther who genuinely loved Igraine. Justin questions the presence of modern romantic love in medieval stories. The pair try to determine where they have seen guest star Sarah Parish before. Erik suggests a certain Welshman to play Merlin. The Legend of Brave Sir Tristan is retold. The Acolyte gets examined again and the Taster's Choice Saga becomes surprisingly important.

This week, we're digging into a major turning point for modern comics — past and present.First up, Absolute Wonder Woman #15 delivers the first-ever meeting of Batman and Wonder Woman in the Absolute Universe, and it's anything but traditional. With a more primal, myth-driven Diana and a brutal, consequence-heavy tone, this issue marks a true escalation point for the Absolute line — and collectors have noticed, with sales jumping 176% this week. Then, for our 25 Year Rule, we rewind to 2001, a pivotal recovery year for the comic industry after the speculator crash. That brings us to New X-Men #114, the launch of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's era-defining run. This issue reimagined mutants as a global culture, reshaped the X-Men's visual identity, and directly influenced the look and themes of the X-Men films — all while remaining surprisingly affordable on the market today. Finally, in Underrated Books of the Week, we spotlight two sleepers that deserve more love:Camelot 3000 #1 — Mike W. Barr and Brian Bolland's futuristic Arthurian epic, and a landmark early direct-market series.Captain America #159 — a fascinating Bronze Age issue where Steve Rogers briefly gains super-strength.

The most polarizing episode yet. This week, Raven loses her mind and Campbell deeply worries about her taste. Together they discuss animal companions, “comic” relief, and an unbelievable cast in the 1998 animated musical film, Quest for Camelot. The Adventurer Recipe: 1 oz herb-infused whisky 0.25 oz lavender syrup 8 oz brown ale Combine all ingredients in a pint glass and gently stir to mix. Garnish with a sprig of sage. ⚔️ This week on The Willie Jackerson Experiment ⚔️We ride back into legend, steel, and myth to uncover the truth behind King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Was Arthur a divinely chosen king… or a symbol forged to unite a broken land? Was the Round Table just a story — or the blueprint for honor, loyalty, and brotherhood in a violent world? And were Merlin, Excalibur, Camelot, and the Grail fantasy… or history rewritten by time?In this episode, we strip away the fairy tale varnish and dig into:The real-world origins of King ArthurThe warrior culture behind the Knights of the Round TablePower, betrayal, loyalty, and the cost of leadershipWhy these legends still matter in a world that's forgotten honor This isn't a bedtime story. It's a deep dive into myth as truth, legend as warning, and brotherhood forged in blood and steel.Because long before modern empires…There was a king, a table with no head, and a code that demanded men stand equal — or fall.

Jace and Rocky return for another Comic Boom! / Comic Source DC Spotlight for the week of December 10, 2025, kicking off with holiday updates on gift guides, Fireside Chats, and year-end scheduling before diving into a varied slate of nine DC books. They start with Action Comics #1093, where the Silver Age tone, moral dilemmas, and standout Skylar Patridge art drive a strong Superboy-focused chapter; then move into Batman and Robin #28, a top-tier issue that deepens the Quiet Man mystery, expands the Ventriloquist twist, and showcases why Phillip Kennedy Johnson's run will be so missed. In DC KO, Aquaman #12 becomes the week's breakout as Jeremy Adams and John Timms push Arthur's power set to astonishing levels in a visually explosive Hawkman showdown. Gotham by Gaslight: A League for Justice #6 gets praise for world-building but mixed reactions for a rushed, multiversal conclusion, while Supergirl #8 lands as a quiet, emotional holiday detour centered on loneliness, legacy, and the Linda-robot twist. Scott Snyder and Jock's Absolute Batman #15 earns divided reactions—Rocky loving its monstrous Joker origin while Jace ranks it lowest out of personal preference—leading into the universally panned DC KO: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo, a structurally chaotic, inconsistently illustrated, rule-breaking oddity that squanders a marquee matchup. The guys close with Green Lantern Corps #11, a strong, character-rich chapter spotlighting Ellie, Jon Stewart, Equanar's origin, and the growing Corps-wide stakes, before wrapping with Children of the Round Table #4, a well-executed setup issue introducing each magical weapon, expanding the Camelot training mythology, and dropping a sharp political twist with Mordred influencing the U.S. presidency. As always, the episode ends with full rankings, collected-edition recommendations, and reminders to catch the video on Comic Boom! and the audio on The Comic Source podcast feed.

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on 2001's Pikmin. We set the game in its time and then spend a lot of time talking about putting Nintendo's spin on the RTS on a console. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: The first few days Issues covered: a well-trod year, some MMO history, the GameCube at LucasArts, playing PC vs console, playing PC RTSes of the time, history with Pikmin, keeping an eye on Nintendo making and entering genre spaces, making a thing on controller first rather than jamming in a KBM game, Tim talks about his favorite controller again, inspirations, being embodied in the world vs the god's-eye view, the simplicity of the ship pieces and setup, Nintendo's open world game, meteors vs meteoroids, the puzzle RTS, making the environment more of the enemy than the creatures, lightly building an army, trading pikmin for time vs the heavy pieces, task-based challenges, spreading your army but limitations due to movement and level design, the Forest's Navel, moving to avatar-based RTSes and MOBAs, wanting to play the prototypes, forks in strategy games this year, the simplicity of verbs due to Olimar's centrality, limiting your verbs due to the controller, the cognitive overload of the PC RTS, diversions into Valve, where we're playing, letting go of accuracy and min/maxing, chunky buttons.
