He created him at the behest of DC, who saw it as likely to be more commercially successful than the Fourth World and cancelled New Gods and Forever People to facilitate work on the new title. According to Evanier, Kirby had no interest in horror comics, but created Mark Etrigan in response to DC's demand for a horror character. Kirby was annoyed that Etrigan's popularity forced him to abandon the Fourth World titles before he was done with them. Etrigan returned for a four-issue miniseries in 1987, written and illustrated by Matt Wagner. Alan Grant followed this with an Etrigan feature in Action Comics Weekly #636-641 and a second ongoing title in 1990. The 1990 series lasted 58 issues, two Annuals and one #0 issue. Garth Ennis took over the title beginning with issue #40. Ennis' run included the first appearance of his character Hitman. This series was followed by a miniseries, Driven Out. Following this, John Byrne's Blood of the Demon lasted 17 issues, and ignored much of the continuity that took place after Kirby's initial run. While his first monthly comic book series was short-lived, and his second was canceled after five years, Etrigan remains a popular supporting character with occasional additional miniseries. Series in which Etrigan has appeared include Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Kevin Smith's Green Arrow and Batman: The Widening Gyre, Garth Ennis's Hitman, and Cosmic Odyssey by Jim Starlin and Mike Mignola. Jon Klein in conversation with David Eastaugh In 1980, he formed Bristol band Specimen with Ollie Wisdom and Kev Mills. In 1982, after moving in London and renting a place in Soho, Klein co-founded with Wisdom the club the Batcave, which was a party on Wednesday nights at The Gargoyle. Klein and Wisdom then opened a Batcave club night in New-York. In 1987, he became a full-time member of Siouxsie and the Banshees. He recorded three albums with the band, Peepshow in 1988, Superstition in 1991 and the Rapture in 1995.

We begin to meet some of the closest relatives of the Green Man. He does have an interesting, colorful family, and in fact, I was led to discover his existence by a simpatico Gargoyle called Orito. Following him, I discovered the original meaning of Bosses, found out what Grotesques were and found out a powerful symbol of womanhood, Sheela na gig, a regeneratrix of life, whose influence goes back as far as the Neolithic period. I go deep into the etymology of the word Gargoyle, and share some of my creations, a book and an ongoing art installation, a magical village where Amazon Spirits weave narrative and where I honor migrants and celebrate humanity's quest to coexist with Nature, by remembering the Green Human within each one of us.

Jace and Rocky chat about the DC Comics titles for the final week of 2024. It is a huge week with 17 titles hitting the stands but it is a bit underwhelming as we get the third issue of Gargoyle of Gotham with the book losing momentum because of such a long dealy between issues. The final issue of Batman Brave and the Bold is also a bit of a let down with a lack of memorable stories and Powergirl also continues to disappoint. On the other hand the debut of Metamorpho is very strong and the Phantom Zone story in Action Comics comes to a very satisfying conclusion. Justive League Unlimited also continues to be a must-read.
