Join BP, Justin and your host Coop as we discuss the 1999 American slasher film directed by Geoffrey Wright, and starring Brittany Murphy, Jay Mohr, and Michael Biehn. The plot focuses on a small Virginia town where a serial killer is targeting teenaged virgins. After being submitted to and rejected by the MPAA numerous times, Cherry Falls was screened at several film festivals in some countries in late 1999 and early 2000, but did not have a theatrical release in the United States. Finally, it was purchased by USA Films, who telecast it on the USA Network on October 20, 2000. Wright promised an intelligent script full of irony. In 1999, the filmmakers began scouting locations in Virginia, using the town square in Warrenton; the high school used in the film was Thomas Jefferson High School, located in Richmond. The residents of Richmond lambasted the making of the film because of its brutality. The film's set was described as "tense" by writer Ken Selden, due to the thirty-day production schedule falling behind, which led to budget issues from October Films. Director Geoffrey Wright kept Selden's original script relatively unchanged, but re-wrote the film's final "orgy scene", which had originally been conceived by Selden as featuring the teenagers having a mass sex party under a giant white sheet. Wright opted to shoot the scene with the cast nude, which resulted in much of the scene being cut in order to avoid an NC-17 rating. Release Cherry Falls was shopped at the Cannes film market in 1999, and was sold for theatrical distribution in all international territories across the world. The film had a tentative theatrical release scheduled for November 2000. However, the film was troubled by censor disapproval in the United States, and the distributors' relationship with USA Films led the company to make the decision to release it as a television movie in the United States, syndicated on the USA Network. As a result, it became (and remains) the most expensive television film ever made, with a production budget of $14 million. The film shown at the in May 1999 at Marché du Film in France. Cherry Falls was released in the United States on October 20, 2000. The film had successful theatrical runs in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe. It opened in the United Kingdom on August 25, 2000. Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator, reports that 63% of 19 surveyed critics gave it a positive review. Doug Brod of Entertainment Weekly rated it A− and wrote that "it might just be the wittiest, most subversive teen thriller since Heathers". AllMovie gave it a favorable review: "Of all the teen slasher flicks that premiered after the wildly successful Scream series (Urban Legend, etc.), Cherry Falls will possibly go down as one of the most creative, but sadly unseen ones in the bunch". Derek Elley of Variety called it "a semi-successful spin on familiar material that could build minor cult status". Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club wrote: "Smart at times but not nearly smart enough, and peppered with good ideas it doesn't really know how to exploit, Cherry Falls is just good enough to make you wish it were far, far better". Chris Parcellin of Film Threat rated it 3/5 stars and wrote that "it aspires to be another Heathers or Rivers Edge, but doesn't make it". Total Film rated it 3/5 stars and wrote: "If you're not already sick to death of the teen horror genre, you might want to give this a look". Matt Serafini of Dread Central ranked Cherry Falls number seven in a list of the top ten high school horror films from 1996 to the present. #cherryfalls #brittanymurphy #jaymohr #horror #blood #virgin #tv #urbanlegends #mulhollanddrive #davidlynch #blockbuster #mtv #2000s #1990s

Joe Smith, General Manager/COO of Countryside Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fla. joined the podcast to talk about everything happening at the club. Countryside celebrated the groundbreaking of its $14 million club renovation project, aptly named “Countryside 2.0,” in January. This project marks a significant milestone for the community, further enhancing the exceptional lifestyle residents and members have enjoyed for more than 35 years. Rob Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of Club + Resort Business, also touched upon some recent news from across the industry, including: Las Vegas, Nev.-based Siena Golf Holdings LLC purchased Siena Golf Club in Summerlin, Nev. for $17M. The club, which is part of a 2,100-home, 55-plus community, was originally constructed in 2000. Pivotal Group acquired the Hilton Phoenix (Ariz.) Resort at the Peak for $100M with plans to add new amenities, including a spa, fitness center, and an adult pool to complement the existing family pool and lazy river. A full renovation of the resort's 432 rooms is also planned, likely to begin in the summer when tourism in Phoenix slows due to the heat. Lastly, it's getting to be award season and a pair of courses have been named ‘Course of the Year!' The Michigan Golf Course Association bestowed the honor upon Harbor Shores Resort in Benton Harbor, Mich. The award honors a member course that meets four criteria: Unique characteristics of the course; exceptional quality of ownership and management; outstanding contribution to its community; and significant contribution to the game. Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawley's Island, S.C., succeeds Rivers Edge as the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association's 2024 Course of the Year. Founders Group International contracted with Nicklaus Design Group and its Design Associate Troy Vincent to lead a 2023 renovation that modernized the facility.

Step right up and watch the best performances you'll probably ever see from Eric Stoltz, William Forsythe and Wesley Snipes. Neal Jimenez wrote "Rivers Edge". He also slipped on a rock hiking, and ended up paraplegic for the rest of his life. "The Waterdance" is based on his time in rehab and is probably why the film feels like a snapshot of a handful of lives instead of some feel-good nonsense. It's pretty rad, y'all.

“I couldn't do it without my wife and a whole host of volunteers, of course, dedicated volunteers that have been with me from the start. It is really a labour of love.”Bryan Wallace started running later in life but enjoyed it thoroughly. We loved the challenge and the community. So as he got older and his body wasn't able to keep trail running, he started hosting runners and putting them through tough challenges with Rivers Edge Running Series. It's something he is enjoying and that's led him to organize three different races. Each one is unique and an opportunity for trail runners to come together and push themselves, including “Hill of a Run” which was recently hosted at Rabbit HIll Snow Resort. “We basically run up and down the hill on snow after they're closed. We go for a 5K, two loops, 10K, four loops, or see how many times you can go in six hours. 160 m elevation gain it's just a small hill and the record in six hours is 19 loops which is quite significant. We get more people doing the six hour then the shorter distances.”Bryan was fun to chat with and he loves the chance to share Debbie's (his wife) baked goods and the trails on their property. In part 2 of Miranda and Evelyn's examination of Riverdale's aired pilot (2017) vs. an earlier draft of that pilot (2015), considering what might have been gets even more bizarre. (For those of you who want to follow along at home - seriously though, why? - here's a link to the .pdf: http://www.zen134237.zen.co.uk/Riverdale_1x01_-_The_Rivers_Edge.pdf ) How did they think they could get away with inserting such a shameless rip-off of a beloved movie? Why are all the moms on drugs? How is Reggie the best thing about this? What are Smithers and Hermione getting up to in the alley? And hey, Roberto? You have GOT to get over Carrie. Evelyn says one of the most cursed things ever uttered, but balances it out by finding a way to give Kevin some depth; and Miranda is forced to come to terms with the fact that in the 2015 version, Jughead is more tolerable. Actually, she likes 2015 Jughead. Before the latest hiatus, Miranda and Evelyn managed to record a bonus with a bit of a twist - i.e. endure a different kind of torture. Going all the way back to the first episode, they deep dive into the differences between the aired pilot (2017), and an older draft (2015). For those of you who want to follow along at home - why would you though? You doing okay? - here's a link to the .pdf: http://www.zen134237.zen.co.uk/Riverdale_1x01_-_The_Rivers_Edge.pdf  Let's return to a simpler time without black hoods, and motorcycle gangs, or Jingle Jangle. An alternate time where every scene is a bit longer, and everyone's a bit meaner.  Where did Sheriff Dad go? How could the dynamic in the Cooper house get any more strained? That can't possibly be how you use the word "glance". And does Jughead just...live at the Chocklit Shoppe? Meanwhile, Miranda struggles with Roberto's insufferable meta-comments, and Evelyn? Well, she's feeling pretty freakin' epic. If anyone can get them in touch with the elusive jockbud92, do let them know. A levee's riverside is called a batture. For a few hearty souls it is also called “home.” Author Macon Fry lives in a camp on a batture at the edge of Orleans Parish. He has been chronicling stories of people who live so near the water they can sometime feel the wave action through their floor. Fry, who once canoed down the entire Mississippi River, has stories to tell about life as a “river rat' and shares them with Errol Laborde, executive editor of Louisiana Life, along with podcast producer Kelly Massicot. Oh yes, we'll also hear about the uphill migration of river shrimp and marvel as the size of the Mississippi's catfish.

I met Sye in the studio at The Vault; Tyler Braddocks recording studio in Boonton, NJ. I was interning for free and barely able to pay my rent, but the artists I met there made it all worth it. Sye is a rapper and songwriter from Rivers Edge, New Jersey. He's built a fanbase over the last few years and began his career under the name Rightful Disciple before transitioning to 'Sye' in late 2019. The new name fits him well, and his versatility is apparent in his flows and even more so in his hooks. He's the type of artist that can leave you with a stank face after hearing the verse and later that day you'll still have the hook lodged in your head. Seeing the evolution of Sye and myself has been a rewarding experience. We had the opportunity to write, record and shoot a video for our song, "5 Fingers" that appeared on his first EP as 'Sye', titled "https://open.spotify.com/album/7fncdNbNskJc9j9z3vd21Z?si=KZvkM7blQa-1NDLWqllDYg (Everything in Between)." Dillanos Co-CEO David J. Morris and Bryon became friends in elementary school and continue their fun-filled adventures in friendship and business together to this day. In fact, Bryon was Dillanos' first salesperson back in the early 90's. He is also credited with creating one of our popular blends, Black & Tan—a strong, full bodied blend roasted to a perfect medium-dark. Together with his wife Danielle, Bryon parlayed his role with Dillanos into purchasing a struggling café several years ago. They did a deep dive into renovating everything: the décor, the menu, the ingredients, the equipment… and the coffee. Today, a stop into Rivers Edge Café means a relaxed vibe while enjoying a great sandwich made from top-quality ingredients served alongside a cup of Dillons Blend coffee—Dillanos' best-selling blend since 1992. Bryon is a local's local with deep roots in his community. His café looks out onto the same railroad tracks where his grandfather worked as a switch operator in the 1930's. And nearly all of their 12 taps pour beers and ciders from breweries within 5 miles of the café. Rivers Edge Café is a case-study in how to become a fixture in the community. Kelli has always been fascinated with psychology. She wanted to understand why people do the things they do and act the way they do. Within her path and career in the semiconductor industry, she always loved and had a desire to learn about psychology and human behavior. I always had the feeling that there was more to reality than she was led to belief…something within her that she could feel, but is hard to describe. An urge to find the deeper truths of life itself. This led Kelli into diving deep into learning more about belief systems, spirituality, where we come from, and ultimately the programming of humanity, a phenomenon that we have been exposed to for quite some time. In 2008, Kelli still had many unanswered questions and began working with a Life Coach, who showed her a deeper understanding and the truth of who she really is. Thus, in 2010, she became a Certified Life Coach because of this passion for personal empowerment and her desire to help other people. In August 2020, she started The Rivers Edge, a platform where she interviews a variety of guests on spirituality and current events. Because she is really interested in personal empowerment, she aims to share wisdom, knowledge, and information so people can realize we actually do create our own realities with our thoughts and feelings. For now, Kelli thinks that we are watching the movie play out, but we must stay centered, strong and defiant to protect our freedom and the freedom of generations to come. One of Kelli's most favorite things to do is spend time at the beach with her dog and she loves nature in all its varieties.

New episode out now! We watched the pilot episode of Riverdale, and wow did we have some problems with it! We discuss the CW’s penchant for adapting outside properties into “young, dark, and sexy” content and how that is often problematic, and how while two of us have watched more than one season we barely remember anything because it gets so convoluted. We do cover the awful inclusion of statutory rape, don’t like how the teens are unnecessarily sexualized, decide that the producers are not “woke” for calling themselves out on their cliché writing choices, and discuss who is actually writing this show and for what audience. We do admire the production design and talk about the Twin Peaks vibes it starts with, but ultimately land on the fact that it’s essentially just (bad) Archie fanfiction. Katy steals a joke and then owns up to it, Carrie gets triggered by the portrayal of the publishing industry, Maddy works on her voice acting, and Mack has a deep, deep well of rage inside himself. We aso wonder why Gen Z references Woody Allen movies, pitch a dark Teletubbies law drama, get confused by what MSG is, call out The Little Mermaid’s irresponsible behavior, reminisce about high school, and come to the conclusion that nobody’s really having a great time in Riverdale. Turns out teens doing sexy things makes us uncomfortable! Does that mean we’re old? Anyway, give it a listen! There’s something for everyone? SERIES SPOILERS TW: Underage sex, statutory rape, incest
