With his competition debut at Arctic Challenge at age 13, Stale Sandbech has officially announced his retirement from competitive snowboarding. Stale has medals in almost every competition you can think of but now has his sights set on the back country, and he's aiming high. Stale details stories from his early days in the RK1 crew, learning half-pipe tricks moments before the competition, dealing with chronic dizziness, and the nerdiest trick nerd stuff you can imagine. Take one stoked kid living near an easily accessible local hill. Mix with three equally hyped friends who live and breath snowboarding. Add one older brother photographer who shoots with the best of the world, offering easy access to an incredible array of role models. Marinate in the world’s most influential snowboarding culture, one that has always valued individual style and heritage. The result? One of the world’s great snowboarding stylists, who is today of the most popular riders on the planet. I remember when Transworld Snowboarding asked me to write Stale’s first check out back in around 2011. Here was a 14 year-old kid who could ride it all and appeared to arrive on the scene perfectly formed. Plus, he seemed to already have an enviably stable head on this shoulders. Since then, Stale’s has evolved into one of the defining riders of the last decade, as comfortable on the Olympic podium as he is lapping the park in Laax with his RK1 mates, Which is exactly where I bumped into him, back in April 2018, arranging to meet him that evening and sit down to go over his life and career. As you’ll discover, Stale cuts the same impressive figure off the hill as he does on it, and it was a real pleasure to sit down and catch up on the ins and outs of his snowboarding life. I dag har vi hatt besøk av sølvmedaljevinner i slopestyle Ståle Sandbech. Han er akkurat tilbake fra Sotsji, og vi var så heldige å få han på besøk. Ståle har blitt stor stjerne, og hos oss forteller han om OL-opplevelsen, stjernestatus og kjæresterykter. Reporter Line synes det er for lite dyrefokus i OL, og vil derfor innføre hundekjøring som OL-gren. Med seg på laget trenger hun to lyttere for å prøve hundekjøring på ski sammen med henne. I tillegg tar vi en nærmere titt på lydene av kvinnecurling, og hører litt på lyden av en overveldet og sprudlende Tiril Eckhoff. Bonus 54:13.

I dagens P3morgen har vi hatt besøk av Stian Blipp. Han er straks klar for OL i Sotsji som snowboard-kommentator. Før jul hadde vi besøk av snowboard-proffene Silje Norendal og Ståle Sandbech, og vi testet de i snowboard-uttrykk. Nå tar vi testen igjen – denne gangen på Stian. Klarer han det bedre enn dem? Stian har nettopp fått seg kjæreste, og vi hadde også en lang prat hvor han fortalte om sitt hat for konseptet parmiddager. Ronny er hjertens enig.
