Episode #22. Le World Snowboard Day ? Since opening the Quai 34 shop in Annecy at only 23 years old, he has demonstrated a daring spirit, solid business acumen and a genuine talent for spotting trends. He anticipated the boom of snowboarding but also sensed the rise of kite surfing and, of course, made the most of it. Driven by passion and constantly inspired, he is a genuine visionary and jack of all trades. In the 90's in Annecy, Remi took over at the head of F2. He also launched the Boards and More adventure, was the distributor for several brands and the editor-in-chief of the European BtoB magazine, Source. Rémi Forsans joined EuroSIMA in 2003. As Vice-President of the association, he was among the key players who created the Mountain Division, which quickly became OSV(Outdoor Sports Valley). No two days are the same for Will Gilmore as part of a team that oversees over 800 athletes across 200 sports at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center. From surfers to skydivers, the facility provides an elite high-performance ecosystem for traditionally individual sport athletes. Gilmore highlights the need for remote programming and monitoring to support a constantly shifting roster. Together as a team, they navigate uncharted territory in action sports conditioning, guided by physiological demands and underlying energy systems. Gilmore and NSCA Coaching and Sport Science Program Manager Eric McMahon discuss the shift in sport science from ample to actionable data to find, change, and measure what matters most. Gilmore reflects on his “career periodization” and having free time for friends and family while working corporate hours — a stark contrast with his background in Major League Baseball (MLB). You never know what's coming around the next corner. But being a good person, meeting people, forming genuine bonds over strength and conditioning or even things outside of work with people in your field are very important.” 16:05 “Whether the sport demands show that, hey, you need some high-level anaerobic conditioning for this, the mental state of the athlete demands it. So whether that's cliff diving or downhill mountain biking where there's zero pedaling or even pitching in baseball, they've shown that the heart rate gets to 90%, 95% max. Why? Because that guy is stressed out. That is a tough job out there. And so you better prepare him in the gym to handle those demands.” 23:20 “That's really what we're looking for if we're going to be hiring a strength and conditioning coach. Not necessarily, have you worked with any extreme sports, but what is your thought process in going about evaluating a sport?” 26:32

Welcome to ⟪About that outdoor job⟫ podcast where host Charlaine Jannerfeldt has conversations with those who've made the outdoors their living, so you can too. We'll share their insights, observations, advice and a few of their best adventure stories. This is our first episode of our second series "Not your typical outdoor job".In this episode she talks to Martina Russo about her not so typical outdoor job and how she got there. The "how" in Martina's case is also atypical having started as a freelance translator while moving from place to place to support herself. But that doesn't mean she sees herself as a "digital nomad" and she shared with us why not. Her personal frustration with Italian sport gear translation is what spurred her creation of the action sports translator and she shared how she managed to create what some would say is too niche of an outdoor job to succeed. And succeed she has whilst facing a number of challenges that come not only from growing a fully remote business and team but, as she candidly reveals, from lack of experience being part of any type of translation firm herself. Martina has some great advice for anyone considering following a path like hers. One of the most legendary photographers in snowboarding. Dano has captured a significant part of snowboarding's history from the early 90s to the mid-2000s, shooting with the best of the best. This episode touches on more than just snowboarding and photography though; it delves into life, creativity, and much more. One of my favorite episodes I've recorded. Enjoy!

In this very special episode of The Bomb Hole: Group Chat, we scoured the earth for the very best banter specialists we could find. Unfortunately they were busy so we gathered Todd Richards, Joey Bauer, Eddie Wall & Scotty Stevens and threw them in the booth with Chris and Silk to see what happened. We covered 43 Day in honor of Ken Block, recapped the Natural Selection finals, and dove into what it feels like to snowboard at the ripe age of 40. In Scotty Steven's Bomb Hole studio debut, we broke down the creativity that goes into is trick selection and the evolution that has taken place behind those tricks. With Robot Food claiming it's fame as creators of some of the most iconic and timeless video projects in all of snowboarding, we felt so lucky to have David Benedek in studio this week to provide us with an inside scoop. He's innovative, stylish and definitely scared (or at least he used to be). We talk about the origins of the cheese wedge, bonus features, and many of David's more recent adventures in design. What is up Gypsy Gang. Man, I have now said that 300 times on full episodes of this podcast. Yes, today is episode 300 of the show, and I can't thank every single one of you enough for being a part of what we have created together. I am so proud of the community that we have built and I am really proud of the stories we have been able to share through this platform. We posted the first full length episode of the podcast on the first of January 2018 and it has been an insane ride since then… We have had well over 100 million downloads and views of the show in that time and it honestly feels like we are just getting started. I get messages all the time from you guys whether it is on Instagram, email or comments saying how much the podcast has helped you over the years; and I want to let you all know that Gypsy Tales has truly changed my life and I can't thank you enough for making that happen. I feel like every guest is worthy of a milestone show, but we really lucked into a great guest for the 300th episode of the podcast. Troy Lee is one of the most iconic and influential names in racing period. From humble beginnings painting helmets in his family garage to being the only gear and apparel company to own a Supercross and Motocross team (and a factory team at that). He has painted helmets for every legend in every form of motorsport - Jeff Ward in Motocross, Supercross and IndyCar, Jeremy McGrath, Scott Dixon and many many more. This was a brilliant episode of Gypsy Tales and a perfect way to celebrate the big 300.In this episode we talk about balancing life as a creative, why he is ok losing money each year on his race team, why he will paint helmets until he dies and how badly we need Glen Helen back on the Pro Motocross Series.I also have to save a huge thankyou to our sponsors. Even though we get millions of views each month on YouTube, it is the sponsors that you hear on the start of these shows that are the backbone of this business and without them we really wouldn't be able to bring you these shows in the way that we do.Some of our sponsors have been with us for a really long time and that loyalty means the world to us, and we have had a couple of new sponsors come on board this year that have really made this US push possible. After setting a new record for most people in studio for our last episode of Group Chat, we decided to set another record for the least amount of people in studio. But worry not, the banter seems to flow well regardless. We gathered Nils Mindnich, fresh off of Natural Selection, and Griffin Siebert to discuss all things Natural Selection, Bomb Hole Cup training, and finally decide who is the better climber. We take calls from Jody Wachniak, Treyson Allen, and Jill Perkins to discuss the judging and broadcasting of Natural Selection, what goes in to building Bomb Hole Cup, and an upcoming mini-pipe event at Woodward Park City. Lastly, we bring Stevie Bell in studio to talk about the crew he's apart of: Technically Doing It, and discuss the importance of getting more people of color on hill. We're still not sure why, but Craig and Chris showed up in full hockey gear for this episode. Supposedly, with the puck in deep, Craig McMorris fought tooth and nail in order to pursue his career in snowboarding. With a little bit of luck, and a lot of hard work, Craig has become one of the most well know voices in snowboarding: broadcasting marquee events for years from X-Games to The Olympics. As we've learned, he's more than just a broadcaster. He pride's himself on continuing to film impressive video parts split 50-50 with incredible back country and street clips. We've been waiting for a snowboarder to back lip the umbilical cord on the way out of the womb and this week's guest is the closest so far. Having started snowboarding at just 18 months, Mia Brookes was destined for greatness. She's coming in hot after wining her first X-Games gold medal and is here to give us a new perspective. Once battling on snowboarding's center stage, Scotty Lago fought tooth and nail to stay in competition with some of snowboarding's heaviest of hitters. He's dueled against Shaun White in the half-pipe. He's rode gnarly back-country lines with Travis Rice and Nicholas Müller. He's filmed A-grade video parts and even made his was onto Jimmy Kimmel. For this week's episode of The Bomb Hole: Group Chat we've curated a highly coveted and supremely prestigious group of guests. Sam Taxwood, Blake Paul, and Russell Winfield join Chris in the booth to debate some of life's greatest topics: what makes a good snowboard, where to find the best snow, and so much more. We take a deep dive into the most recent X-Games event and discuss some stand-out moments and some questionable decisions by the judges. We hop on calls with two of the gold medalists, Red Gerard and Mia Brookes, to get their perspective and insight into the event. And last, but not least, we invited Todd Richards into the booth to explain to us why snowboard boots suck and what hope we might have in resolving some of these issues. Is this the latest episode of The Bomb Hole or an audio book narrated by the smoothest voice on planet earth? Well, to be honest, we're not quite sure but either way we definitely like it. Bud Keene has been in the game longer than most and still going strong. He was around when snowboards first got edges and the fins taken off and now he's been coaching the best and making a lasting impact on every rider he works with. He's all about amplitude, going big, and a firm believer that the language we use matters. He's inspirational, he's rough around the edges, and he's wise beyond belief. So sit down, buckle up, and listen to Bud Keene's mesmerizing voice on this episode of The Bomb Hole!Follow Bud Keenehttps://www.instagram.com/budkeene144/Check Out His Canadian AthletesLiam Gill: https://www.instagram.com/trill_grill_/Brooke D'Hondt: https://www.instagram.com/brookedhondt/Follow Chris, Jeremy & SILKChris Grenier: https://www.instagram.com/grendiesel/Jeremy Jones: https://www.instagram.com/jeremy___jones/SILK: https://www.instagram.com/silk.daze/Show Notes:For all things Bomb HoleWebsite | https://thebombhole.com/Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/thebombhole/YouTube: @TheBombHole TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thebombholeListen on Apple Podcast | https://apple.co/3UEm0l5Listen on Spotify | https://sptfy.com/BombHoleSpotifyThis episode is sponsored byHippeas: https://hippeas.comMammoth: https://www.mammothmountain.comMammoth: https://www.mammothmountain.comCBDayz: https://cbdayz.comSmith: https://www.smithoptics.comSpecial thank you to our Patreon Members for making our show possible! The chance of getting Multiple Sclerosis is approximately .5%, and this week's guest, Taylor Elliott, has received such a diagnosis. Amidst this devastating and life changing news, Taylor began a spiritual journey. Through this process of self discovery she has found some peace with her diagnosis, and using her newfound sobriety, charges head on at the unknown. Now, seemingly, she treats that .5% chance as if she won the lottery; welcoming each new challenge as an opportunity to learn more about herself and strengthen her mind and spirit. Sure, her snowboarding might look different now, but she's doing it, refusing to allow this diagnosis to stop her. She still has goals. She still has dreams. And she will be doing whatever it takes to achieve these aspirations. We dive into some of your burning questions such as: Does somebody end up with webbed toes because they grew up on a boat? Or is it just a coincidence? What does it feel like to take a bite out of a dildo? Why is Curtis Ciszek so scared of roman candles? Does anybody actually care about fishing? And so much more. Sure, we talk about some of his incredible snowboarding and back country experiences. But who cares. It's not about that. Because Curtis Ciszek is so much more than that. He isn't just a snowboarder, he's everything else in between. Nora Beck once had a goal to pound beers and be the coolest local at the hill. Now it seems like things have changed a little. Addiction, injuries, receiving hate, and an existential bail have all heavily influenced Nora and pushed her towards a different direction. What does that new direction look like? Well, we're not exactly sure but we know it involves snowboarding to her greatest ability and pushing herself while simultaneously doing so from a place of comfortability and happiness. She now aims to be her authentic self, living for nobody but her self, and doing so gratefully and unselfishly. All while putting down absolute a-grade bangers in the streets.
