STRONGER BONES LIFESTYLE: REVERSING THE COURSE OF OSTEOPOROSIS NATURALLY
In this eye-opening conversation, Debi Robinson and Dr. John Neustadt expose a fundamental flaw in how we approach bone health: we've been focusing on bone density instead of actual fracture risk.Drawing from 20+ years of research and clinical practice, Dr. Neustadt reveals that only four nutrients have been proven in clinical trials to reduce fractures—calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K2 (MK-4 specifically), and magnesium. He challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to supplementation and explains why popular supplements like MK-7 and strontium fall short of their marketing claims. The episode deep-dives into why bone density tests are poor predictors of fracture risk, how supplement companies mislead consumers with marketing claims that don't align with clinical data, and the critical role of gut health, sleep, hormones, and lifestyle in fracture prevention. Most importantly, Debi and Dr. Neustadt provide actionable, evidence-based strategies that women can implement immediately to actually protect their bones—without fear-based messaging.WHAT YOU'LL LEARN✓ Why bone density scores are not reliable predictors of fracture risk✓ The 4 nutrients with clinical trial evidence for fracture reduction (and the doses that actually work)✓ Why MK-7 vitamin K2 doesn't improve bone strength (and why MK-4 does)✓ How to assess YOUR individual calcium needs (most women are over-supplementing)✓ The vitamin D target range for optimal fracture protection✓ Why strontium supplements mislead consumers (and the hidden risks)✓ The role of melatonin receptors in bone health and sleep deprivation's link to fractures✓ How gut health directly impacts bone strength✓ The importance of serotonin, melatonin, and the gut-bone axis✓ HRT and testosterone replacement as part of a comprehensive bone health strategy✓ How to evaluate supplement companies and ensure they have fracture outcome data✓ Red flags when choosing bone health supplements✓ The gap between conventional medicine's approach (DEXA + medication) and integrative bone health✓ Why doctors are confused about osteoporosis (and how to advocate for yourself)ACTION STEPSGet your vitamin D tested. Aim for 30–44 ng/mL for optimal fracture protection (different from immune health recommendations).Assess your dietary calcium intake before adding supplements. If you're eating well, you may only need 400 mg as a supplement, not the standard 1,200 mg recommendation.Switch MK-7 supplements to MK-4. If you're taking a vitamin K2 supplement, verify it's MK-4 at 45 mg per day in divided doses. MK-7 doesn't reduce fractures.Check your supplement labels for strontium. If it's there, especially if the company markets it as "proven to improve bone density," consider switching to a formula without it.Prioritize gut health. Work with a practitioner to run stool tests if you have bloating, constipation, postnasal drip, or other GI symptoms. Gut inflammation accelerates bone loss.Track your sleep quality. Sleep deprivation is linked to 17% of fractures. If you're sleeping less than 6 hours nightly, prioritize this.Ask supplement companies the right questions:"Do you have fracture outcome data from clinical trials?""Will you provide a certificate of analysis showing purity and potency?""What guarantee do you offer?"Evaluate your medications. Check with your doctor: Are any of your current prescriptions contributing to bone loss? (SSRIs, certain blood pressure meds, proton pump inhibitors, corticosteroids, etc.)Consider HRT or bioidentical hormone replacement, especially if you're post-menopausal. Research shows a 40% reduction in osteoporotic fracture risk with appropriate hormone therapy.Build lifestyle foundations: Prioritize whole-food nutrition, strength training, stress management, and community connection. Oxytocin (released through physical contact) supports bone health.RESOURCES & LINKSDr. John Neustadt's Website: nbihealth.com and book Fracture-Proof Your Bones: A Comprehensive Guide to OsteoporosisDebi's website: https://debirobinson.comHealthy Gut Healty Bones Program: https://debirobinson.com/healthy-gut-healthy-bones-program-v2/Join the Community: https://debirobinson.com/the-stronger-bones-lifestyle-community/Yoga Therapy MasterClass: https://debirobinson.com/yoga-therapy-for-bones-health-mc/28-Day Stronger Bones Method: https://debirobinson.com/28-day-stronger-bonesmorning-method/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/debirobinsonwellness/Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@debirobinsonwellness/DEBI'S TAKEAWAY"Fracture-proofing your bones isn't about chasing a higher DEXA score. Taking vitamin D at midday with your largest meal improves absorption and helps your body use it more effectively for mood, sleep, and brain function Normal vitamin D blood levels don't guarantee results because your body needs to convert it into an active form that your cells can actually use A large portion of people struggle with this activation step, which explains why symptoms like fatigue and poor sleep persist despite supplementation Sunlight remains the most effective way to produce vitamin D naturally; removing seed oils improves your ability to tolerate midday sun safely Pairing vitamin D3 with magnesium and vitamin K2, tracking your levels, and staying physically active helps your body activate and maintain vitamin D year-round
With the 2026 Everest season now officially in the books, Sam and Adrian are back for their fourth and final installment of Everest coverage, with Adrian calling in from Denver where the season's biggest stories have been the talk of the festival floor. Before diving into Everest, Sam and Adrian each share a news story from the week. Adrian touches on the trending trademark lawsuit between outdoor apparel giant Patagonia and Pattie Gonia, the drag persona of environmental activist and outdoor influencer Wyn Wiley, unpacking the nuance on both sides and why two brands with nearly identical values find themselves here. Sam flags two recent search and rescue incidents in the South Lake Tahoe area, which leads to a spirited debate on satellite communicators vs. iPhone satellite messaging — both landing on the same conclusion: redundancy wins. From there, Sam and Adrian cover the following from the 2026 Everest season:- Bartek Ziemski: Story of the Season: No contest for Adrian. The Polish ski mountaineer — a software engineer with no social media — skied Lhotse without oxygen, rested briefly, then summited and skied Everest without oxygen as well, keeping his skis on from top to bottom. Adrian reflects on what it takes physically and mentally to turn around for a second no-oxygen 8,000-meter peak in a single season, and what Bartek's ascents mean for the next generation of Himalayan ski mountaineering.- The Season by the Numbers: A record number of climbers, a record single-day summit of 274 people, roughly five fatalities — and what may be the best no-oxygen season on record with four successful ascents including Bartek, Kristen Harila, and Nirmal Purja. Garrett Madison notched his 16th summit, Kenton Cool his 21st, and Kami Rita Sherpa extended his record to 32.- Aviation: The Season's Most Complicated Story: Drones moving thousands of kilograms of equipment over the Khumbu Icefall represent real progress toward reducing worker trips through the mountain's most dangerous section. But widespread abuse of the helicopter rescue system — with climbers faking medical emergencies to skip the descent — is a growing problem, and Adrian argues the current regulatory framework is failing.- Three Climbers Stranded Above the Icefall: As of recording, two Americans and a Sherpa remain at Camp 2 after the icefall was decommissioned, waiting on a helicopter that weather has so far prevented from reaching them. Adrian weighs in on the decision-making that put them there — and what it says about following the rules of the mountain you're on.- The FKT Question — Karl Egloff and Tyler Andrews: Karl turned around below Camp 4, staying true to his no-oxygen-only philosophy. Tyler eventually summited with oxygen in just under 10 hours. Adrian congratulates Tyler on seeing the full mountain but is direct: oxygen FKTs and no-oxygen FKTs are not the same record, and keeping that distinction clear matters for the athletes still chasing the real one.One more episode is coming. Send your Everest questions via DM, YouTube comments, or the website — Sam and Adrian are planning a bonus listener Q&A before moving on to K2 season.Follow our podcast on Instagram @duffelshufflepodcast where you can learn more about us and our guests.
What do you do when you're 40, building a "perfect on paper" life, and a routine first mammogram turns into a stage 4 cancer diagnosis? In this episode, Jen sits down with Chelsea Hassink, who was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer that had metastasized to her liver — and later her brain — at just 40 years old, with two young kids at home. Chelsea takes us through her entire journey: the intuition that told her it was worse than the doctors first said, six rounds of chemo, her decision to stop treatment and spend a year going fully integrative, and her transformative three weeks at Hope for Cancer in Mexico. She opens up about the brain tumor that led to a craniotomy, temporary paralysis, and a recovery she credits as much to mindset as to medicine. This is a raw, hopeful conversation about refusing to be put in a box, advocating fiercely for yourself, and merging the medical and integrative worlds on your own terms. Chelsea shares the exact framework she lives by, the role faith and prayer have played in her healing, and why she believes the stress she was carrying — not genetics — created the terrain her cancer thrived in. In this episode, we cover: Chelsea's original diagnosis and the "boring" checkup that missed every red flag Why she trusted her intuition over her initial stage 2 diagnosis Stopping chemo after 6 rounds and going integrative for a full year What Hope for Cancer is really like — and the mind, body, spirit work that changed her The bold, specific prayer and the "messenger in the parking lot" that led her to her craniotomy Losing and regaining mobility after brain surgery Where her scans stand today — and how she handles a curveball Finding an oncologist who meets you where you are (without guilt or scare tactics) Her 4-bucket healing framework: Nutrition & Movement, Emotional & Spiritual, Non-Toxic Therapies, and Detoxification Specific therapies: mistletoe, high-dose vitamin C (and how to do it safely), SPDT / sono-photodynamic therapy, hyperthermia, coffee enemas, sauna, red light, vibration plate, acupuncture Her go-to supplements and why supplementation is deeply individual The #1 thing she wishes someone had told her at diagnosis: you have time to pause Resources & mentions: Hope for Cancer (integrative clinic, Mexico) SPDT — sono-photodynamic therapy (light + sound device) Supplements mentioned: black seed oil, beta-glucan, PectaSol (modified citrus pectin), Vitamin D3, curcumin with K2, greens powder Follow Chelsea on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hassink_health_bites/ Chelsea's book — currently in the works Community: Not Today Cancer — The Inner Circle GET BrocElite: Mara Labs supplements - Use code NotTodayCancer for 20% off Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jendelvaux/ Email me: coachjennyd@gmail.com A note: This episode shares personal experiences and is not medical advice. In this conversation, Dr. Reza Ardalan sits down with Dr. Hugh Coyne, a London-based family medicine practitioner and the son of a pediatric dentist, who built Coyne Medical with his wife and clinical partner Dr. Lucy Coyne specifically to practice the kind of preventive medicine the NHS 10-minute appointment window does not allow. His training at Imperial College London and postgraduate work in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric health, and sports medicine give him a panoramic view of the screening opportunities most dentists are sitting on without realizing it. Dr. Coyne walks through the short blood panel he would build into every dental practice: HbA1c for diabetes risk that directly changes wound healing and periodontal outcomes, highly sensitive CRP for the kind of cardiovascular inflammation a UK Biobank study of over 400,000 people linked to a 61% higher risk of cardiovascular death, vitamin D with the K2 pairing that keeps calcium out of arterial walls, renal function, and a full blood count. From there, Dr. Coyne and Dr. Ardalan move into the oral microbiome shift from pathogen elimination to ecosystem restoration, the role of P. gingivalis in rheumatoid arthritis through citrullinated protein antibodies, and the cardiometabolic markers most patients never get tested for, including apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein(a). The third act covers GLP-1 medications, the Gila monster origin story, the medieval cautionary tale of Sancho the Fat, and the dental-chair implications most patients will never volunteer on a health history form. In this Episode: The short blood panel any dental practice can start with: HbA1c, highly sensitive CRP, vitamin D, renal function, and a full blood count Why vitamin D supplementation without vitamin K2 may direct calcium into the wrong tissues, including arterial walls How a UK Biobank study of more than 400,000 people linked elevated hs-CRP to a 61% higher risk of cardiovascular death in patients otherwise considered well What the 87% of patients open to in-chair screening tells you about how to introduce blood testing in your practice without losing trust The rule of halves for blood pressure, and why a 158 reading caught on a second visit can be profoundly consequential for a patient's long-term survival How the oral microbiome model has shifted from pathogen elimination to ecosystem restoration, and what that changes about prevention Why P. gingivalis turns up in rheumatoid arthritis tissue, and how oral pathogens correlate with colorectal, pancreatic, and esophageal cancers The bachelor-party analogy for apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein(a), and why every dentist should know their own Lp(a) number What every dental practice needs to know before sedating a patient on a GLP-1 medication Dr. Hugh Coyne is a London-based GP and the co-founder, with his wife Dr. Lucy Coyne, of Coyne Medical, a family medicine practice focused on preventive care and the early detection of disease. Dr. Hugh Coyne trained at Imperial College London with postgraduate degrees in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric health, and sports medicine, and is a featured speaker at the Wellness Dental Forum 2026. Episode 2821 - In this wide-ranging and practically grounded episode, Ted and Austin Broer connect vitamin D deficiency's epidemic scale, diet soda's dementia acceleration, glyphosate's breast cancer mechanism, Flock camera AI surveillance misuse, ultra-processed food bone destruction, and foundational joint health science into a broadcast that delivers both urgent health warnings and immediately actionable daily protection guidance. The episode opens with Ted presenting his estimate that over 90% of Americans are vitamin D deficient, walking through D3's documented roles in immune activation, heart health, cognitive function, and longevity. Both hosts connect the medical system's routine failure to test for D3 levels to the broader pattern of pharmaceutical management over root cause correction, and Austin reinforces the critical importance of taking D3 with K2 to direct calcium into bones rather than allowing it to accumulate in arterial walls.

This week on Death is Everything we continue our deep dive (climb?) of the deadly K2 by considering what goes into the exploratory spirit that leads people to risk their lives for glory. Hurray for adventurers! We then, to everyone's surprise, recount the tragedies that befell said brave sojourners during the disastrous 1986 and 1995 expeditions. They died doing what they loved and that's what matters. Hey, future K2 climbers: please, PLEASE listen to the weather forecast and observations of those with experience before climbing this treacherous mountain. Please? Jeff Pensiero is a talented snowboarder and musician, but he was born to be an entrepreneur...and he knew that from an early age. Jeff grew up learning to move on after losing, which every pre Lebron Cleveland sports fan knows all about. Not being afraid to lose along with many traits taught Jeff not only to roll with the punches and preservere, but to take advantage of the opportunities and take risks that make him happy. And from Kemper to K2, to being "The Guy with a Truck" to founding and building Baldface Lodge in his 20's, Jeff's life is all about moving forward and not looking back. On the podcast we talk about building snowboarding in Tahoe for K2, chasing a girl to Canada, founding a lodge, Travis Rice, Craig Kelly, and more. Jeff does a lot of interviews, this one is a little different. Old School K2 Pro and rad dude, Tim Manning asks the Inappropriate Questions.

Is the era of Windows dominance finally coming to an end? This week, Zach Bowen and Ben Wilson dive deep into Google's latest project: the Googlebook. Google is officially moving past the "budget" reputation of the Chromebook and bringing native Android to the premium laptop space. With the "Magic Pointer" AI experience, seamless Gemini integration, and a sleek new interface, Google is striking while the iron is hot. On this episode, we're breaking down: Android for PC: Why Google is swapping Linux for an Android-native core and what that means for your favorite apps. The "Magic Pointer": Is shaking your cursor for AI assistance actually innovative, or just another gimmick?. Windows 10's End of Life: How Google and Apple (with the MacBook Neo) are perfectly timing their new hardware to poach Windows users this fall. The "Nickelback" Effect: Why it's become "cool" to hate on Windows and how Microsoft's fragmented AI strategy is driving users away. What are the best vitamins for men over 40?The best vitamins for men over 40 include Vitamin D3 with K2, magnesium glycinate, zinc, B-complex vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C and E, and probiotics. These nutrients support testosterone production, energy levels, sleep quality, recovery, and overall health, especially as nutrient deficiencies become more common with age.
“It is so important, and I think most people don't realize that some of the cancer treatments can actually impair bone health.”—Dr. Stacy DunnBone health doesn't always get attention until something changes. For many people, especially after cancer treatment, shifts in bone density can happen quietly over time.In this episode of the Real Health Podcast, Dr. Michelle Niesley sits down with Dr. Stacy Dunn to talk through what supports bone health during and after cancer care.Dr. Dunn shares how treatments like chemotherapy and hormone therapies can influence bone density, sometimes earlier than expected. They discuss how tools like DEXA scans are used to check bone health and why they can be helpful as part of ongoing care. The conversation also covers nutrients that play a role in bone health, including vitamin D, vitamin K2, and magnesium. Rather than focusing on one piece in isolation, they talk about how these work together and why balance matters.Movement is another part of the picture. You'll hear why resistance training can support bone strength and how it can be worked into everyday routines without needing a full gym setup. Starting small and staying consistent can go a long way. They also walk through a few common areas of confusion, including medications, calcium intake, melatonin, and soy. The goal is to offer context so people can better understand their options and ask informed questions.Throughout the episode, the focus stays on the bigger picture. Bone health connects to nutrition, movement, sleep, and overall well-being, especially during survivorship and long-term care.

Friends:If cooking is your passion, you may want to read this article and hopefully take some suggestions on how to use various fats in your kitchen.Fats play a central role in shaping flavors, textures, and the nutritional profile of meals. Beyond serving as cooking mediums, they embody historical significance, chemical diversity, and ongoing debates regarding health. Understanding the production methods, compositional differences, nutritional contributions, and potential drawbacks of various fats enables more informed culinary and health-related decisions. So, let's look into this very important aspect of cooking.Fats in the kitchen fall into broad categories: animal-derived fats like butter, lard, tallow, and ghee; vegetable oils such as olive, coconut, canola, and seed oils; and processed varieties. Their main differences stem from their fatty acid profiles—saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated—which influence their solidity at room temperature, their stability when heated, and their biological effects. Saturated fats have no double bonds in their carbon chains, making them stable and often solid. Monounsaturated fats (one double bond) and polyunsaturated fats (multiple double bonds) tend to be liquid and more prone to oxidation.Animal fats have traditional roots. Butter forms during the churning of cream, the fatty portion of cow's milk, separating the fat solids from buttermilk. It contains about 80% fat, with the remaining 20% made up of water, milk solids, and lactose. Rich in saturated fats (around 60-65% of its fatty acids), butter also offers butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid linked to gut health, along with fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K2 in grass-fed varieties. Its smoke point is relatively low, around 300-350°F (150-177°C) for regular butter, limiting high-heat use as milk solids can burn and create off-flavors. Nutritionally, it provides energy density and flavor-enhancing compounds, but its high saturated fat content has long raised concerns about elevating LDL cholesterol. Get the free guide for April at quietmindastrology.com/april26This week brings a powerful shift as we enter the Solar New Year with the Sun's exaltation in Aries. While the energy is ripe for new beginnings and swift action, the true path to power right now is through the unexpected gate of surrender. We are navigating a transition from the deep emotional releases of Pisces into the fiery, healing potential of Ashwini. In this episode, I share how to build authentic confidence by letting go of false control, exploring new possibilities with childlike curiosity, and setting intentions that align with your highest sense of service.QUOTES"This week, you are stepping into a new level of confidence and power... through surrender, through letting go, through not needing to control or be attached.""If you haven't done the work of surrender of this month, that confidence can be based on ego and false sense of control, pride, arrogance.""Confidence comes from feeling a sense of like, I know I can do this thing, and usually that comes through repetition.""The inner voice is always still, quiet, calm, peaceful... your intuition is calm and steady, and it feels like an undercurrent.""When we want to appease Saturn, and Saturn is giving us a hard time: Be of service."TIMESTAMPS00:00 Stepping into a New Level of Confidence01:12 Stellium in Pisces: The Potential for Emotional Release02:15 The Solar New Year and Sun Exalted in Aries03:45 Jupiter in Gemini: Finding Hope Amidst Uncertainty05:27 How This Affects Your Personal Birth Chart06:35 New Beginnings in Relationships with Venus in Bharani07:34 K2 in Leo: Questioning Past Identities and Assumptions09:30 Coming Back to What is Certain: Basic Habits and Health10:45 Rahu in Aquarius: Innovation and the Influence of AI12:21 Pluto in Capricorn: Deep Excavation of Internal Structures14:25 Looking Ahead to Jupiter in Cancer in June15:59 Navigating Communication Breakthroughs with Mercury in Pisces17:06 Connecting to Your Intuition vs. Internal Noise18:04 New Moon in Ashwini: Swift Healing and New Potential20:50 Weekly Practice: Setting Intentions for the Cycle21:34 Preview: Releasing Identity in the Coming WeekKEYWORDSVedic astrology, Solar New Year, Sun in Aries, Ashwini Nakshatra, New Moon, Jyotish, Saturn in Pisces, Jupiter in Gemini, Rahu in Aquarius, Pluto in Capricorn, spiritual growth, intuition, self-trust.FREE RESOURCES⭐️ Free Birth Chart: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/freebirthchart⭐️ Free Horoscopes: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/freehoroscopes⭐️ Podcast (Spotify, Apple, etc): https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/astrology⭐️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/quietmindastrology⭐️ YouTube: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/youtube⭐️ Yoga Teacher Training Podcast: https://www.anchor.fm/yogateachertrainingWORK WITH ME⭐️ Book a Reading: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/reading⭐️ Decode Your Chart: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/101⭐️ New Moon Alignment: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/newmoon⭐️ Mentorship: https://www.quietmindastrology.com/mentorshipNEXT STEP⭐️ Get the free guide for April at quietmindastrology.com/april26
