What a year it has been, friends and what better way to wrap it up than with the weirdest, coziest, most confusing week of the year: the magical limbo between Christmas and New Year's. Kristin? She lives for this week. Pajamas at noon. Coffee refills. No alarms. JUST KIDDING BUT…she soaks it all in like she's on a tropical vacation… without ever leaving the farm. Danna, on the other hand, is READY. Tree down. Decor boxed. Returns loaded in the car. Let's move along, people. And then there are Kristin's hands, which are mysteriously orange. No, she didn't lose a self-tanner battle, she picked up a new hobby that might surprise you. You'll definitely want to hear how this one happened. Tom also stepped in as the ultimate wingman and whisked Kristin and Bill and Danna off to downtown Cleveland for a night out. The mismatched couples hit the casino, where one half of the 3/4 of them felt strangely at home, even while the house was winning. Let's just say luck showed up but not always in the way you'd expect. They wrapped up the night dining at one of Cleveland's finest restaurants because if you're going to lose money, you might as well eat really well doing it. Meanwhile back at the barn… Willett got a brand new bed for Christmas and yes, it's as dramatic and well-deserved as you're imagining. It's cozy. It's funny. It's chaotic in the best way. So grab your coffee (or your leftover Christmas cookies), hit play, and help us send 2025 out in true Mismatched style. Make this last day of 2025 the best one yet and thanks for being part of our year.
At the end of a disappointing Fall/Winter campaign, sometimes it makes sense to go over...

The final Bourbon Bytes Podcast episode of 2025 is here, and it's a big one. In this episode, Clifton wraps up the year with honest reflections on the future of Bourbon Bytes, the bourbon industry heading into 2026, and a "Byte-Sized Review" of the brand-new Willett Family Estate Small Batch 4 Year Cask Strength Bourbon. Willett is one of the most polarizing names in whiskey, and this new four-year-old, cask strength release has sparked plenty of debate. Is it a promising step forward for Willett's own distillate, or does the price and presentation lean too hard on hype? Clifton breaks down the nose, palate, finish, value, and expectations while also sharing broader thoughts on availability, pricing, and what bourbon drinkers may see more of in the coming year. Whiskey news, honest reviews, and real talk to close out 2025. Cheers, and see you in 2026
Willett surprised everyone recently when they released their first ever budget friendly "purple top." The purple foil that adorns the Willett Family Estate Bourbon is nothing short of legendary, but it also typically carries a hefty price tag. So, when Willett recently released a 4 year old small batch bourbon (with a purple top) at 125 proof and an MSRP just shy of $70, it definitely turned some heads. But, how does it taste? We got to work for this short and blinded this new release against a shelfer that had a similar proof and age. How did it all turn out? Well...you have to listen to find out. --------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!

Former intelligence officer and Democratic senate candidate from Kentucky Joel Willett joins Chuck Todd for a wide-ranging and deeply personal conversation — from his post-9/11 path into military service to the experiences that pushed him toward the Democratic Party. They highlight the parallels between his own story and JD Vance’s, offering candid thoughts on Hillbilly Elegy and how addiction, inequality, and disillusionment shape modern politics. He argues that the fentanyl crisis can’t be solved by policing supply alone — the real solution lies in investing in treatment, healthcare access, and rebuilding opportunity in communities like his home state of Kentucky. The conversation turns sharp as Willett critiques senate Democrats’ handling of the recent shutdown deal, calling it a “betrayal of the public,” and weighs in on the Democrats’ leadership struggles, the GOP’s subservience to Trump, and the erosion of national security norms. From the dangers of AI-era inequality to the growing politicization of the intelligence community, Willett warns that without courage and reform, even the institutions built to protect democracy could falter. Everyone eats. It's the one thing we all have in common. And yet, nutrition has become one of the most confusing, divisive, and misunderstood sciences in modern life. Low-fat. High-fat. Keto. Vegan. Paleo. Superfoods. For every study, there's a headline that seems to say the opposite. In this episode, we turn to one of the most trusted voices in nutrition research to cut through the noise: Dr. Walter Willett, MD, DrPH. Dr. Willett, Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has spent more than four decades studying how what we eat affects our health, longevity, and brain function. His work has helped reshape dietary guidelines around the world, replacing fear and fads with clarity and evidence. Together, we unpack what the science really says about diet and the brain: how food choices shape inflammation, cognition, and long-term disease risk, and what practical lessons decades of data can teach us about eating for life and longevity. In this conversation, we discuss: • How nutrition became so confusing (and what the data actually shows) • Why the quality of fat matters more than the amount • How refined carbohydrates fuel inflammation, insulin resistance, and brain fog • The power of fiber and the microbiome for mood and memory • Why plant-based proteins come out ahead for health and sustainability • How global dietary guidelines are changing (and what's still misunderstood) • The intersection of nutrition, planetary health, and human wellbeing Dr. Walter Willett has authored over 2,000 scientific papers and several landmark books, including 'Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy'.
