I've been anticipating this interview for a while and it did not disappoint! My sassy friend Lisa Lister is back on the podcast today talking about loving your lady landscape, harnessing the power of being a woman with a cyclic nature, and why we need to reclaim the word "Witch." Lisa has written three books, Code Red, Love Your Lady Landscape and Witch, all three of which have had a massive impact on my life, so not only is she a friend, I consider her a mentor as well. She is my go-to maven for embracing the full experience and wisdom of the menstrual cycle. AND this woman speaks the bone deep truth (which means not skirting the darker, more taboo aspects of anything). We talked about patriarchy, sisterhood, self-care and debated whether or not consistency is all it's cracked up to be. Enjoy! In this episode, Lisa shares: 1. A definition of witch and how the word was taken from us 2. Navigating the fear of visibility that comes with doing the work you're called to do in life 3. Fierce reverence and why it's important to find your own roots 4. Spiritual exploration and understanding the roots of sacred lineages and traditions before incorporating them into your own life and practices
Today's Guest I'm super excited to have Lisa Lister back as a guest on the show! She was first a guest on episode 91, back when she self published her last book, Code Red (if you haven't read this book, do. It's life changing, and I don't say that lightly). This year, Lisa published another book with Hay House, and I wanted to get her back on the show to talk about how the experience of being a Hay House author is different from being a self published author, how Hay House is different from other publishers, and what's needed to get published these days. As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of self publishing, but I think it's important to look at all the different ways of publishing, and how they relate to your goal. This is a fascinating and very useful look at the world of publishing and its different options. Untangled | stories about untangling from society's giant rule book
Lisa Lister, menstrual maven, Hay House author and creator of SHE Flow, says that her untangling arrived in the form of a "kick in the ovaries". Originally a magazine and TV journalist, Lisa could no longer do the work she loved because of incredible period pain and bleeding. She found herself sitting in a doctor's surgery, being told she needed to have her uterus removed. Listen in as Lisa talks about the adventure that unfolded as she learned to understand her personal lady landscape and, eventually began to teach other women how to do the same. Lisa and I also chat about: + Her fear of speaking out and being known as the woman that talks about vaginas and periods. + Why it's so important that women begin to share their stories in a truthful and vulnerable way. + Why understanding our cyclic nature can help us to be more compassionate and understanding of ourselves in each moment. + Why it's essential that we anchor into our bodies and connect to our womb-space if we are to walk our path and offer up our soul gifts. + Lisa also guides us through a womb breath exercise to help us reconnect to the power that lies between our thighs.
