In this episode of the Flourish Academy podcast, Heather Lahtinen talks with her good friend and Elevate coach, Michelle Crandall, about a surprising truth—what happens after you finally hit a big business goal. Michelle recently had her biggest month ever in her photography business, nearly hitting $10,000. But instead of celebrating, her brain spiraled with doubt, fear, and guilt. Together, Heather and Michelle unpack the emotional rollercoaster of achieving success and why it's so hard to feel happy even when you're winning. If you've ever hit a milestone and still felt like it's not enough, this episode is for you. Show Notes: Why we sometimes feel we have to stay in struggle to be relatable The problem with tying identity to hardship instead of success How fear and guilt can block celebration and self-recognition Why your success is not responsible for someone else's discomfort. How to focus on inspiring others instead of protecting their feelings. “I had a $10,000 month”—why this feels like a core value conflict. Dismantling the false link between success and showing off. Does the IEEPA allow the president to impose tariffs? Wetherell says yes. “IEEPA grants the President broad economic powers to deal with ‘any unusual and extraordinary [foreign] threat … to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States' on which a national emergency has been declared.” Wetherell spells out the historical legal cases in his order, which lead him to say, “IEEPA is a ‘law … providing for … tariffs.'” Source: thefederalist.com nowhere! What if the federal government walked away from public education? That's not a hypothetical—it's part of a real plan gaining traction right now. In this episode, we break down what it actually means to defund and dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, and why it could upend the future for millions of students. Former Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. joins us to cut through the noise and explain, in human terms, what's at risk—from student aid to civil rights protections to the very idea of equal opportunity. We also talk about King's new book, Teacher by Teacher, and the everyday educators who shape lives in ways most people never see. You'll hear stories that might remind you of your favorite teacher—and see just how fragile the systems are that allow those stories to happen. If you think this issue doesn't affect you, think again. Because the decisions being made right now might change everything. Learn more about Dr. King at johnbkingjr.com. Future Trends in Leadership: The End of Alpha Leadership & Pathways for Visionary RebelsIn this installment of our Future Trends series, we dive deep into how leadership is experiencing a seismic shift. The outdated, "alpha," command-and-control model is rapidly collapsing—making way for a new paradigm fueled by intuition, collaboration, energetic presence, and soul-led authority.Tune in as we unlock actionable insights on leading powerfully within today's rapidly changing business and spiritual landscapes.Key Episode HighlightsThe Collapse of Alpha LeadershipThe era of "top-down" control, ever-hustling workloads, and performative visibility is ending.Alpha leadership thrived on dominance, hierarchy, and charismatic but exclusive leadership—but these systems are no longer sustainable or rewarding.New leadership models prioritize resonance, alignment, and presence over volume, force, or status.Rising Trends: Intuitive & Collaborative LeadershipLeadership is moving towards intuitive, energetically embodied authority. The most powerful leaders now anchor their vision in both soul and strategy, focusing on community, recognizing individual energy, and creating environments of belonging.Integration of both masculine and feminine energies is critical for shaping dynamic, innovative teams and businesses.Astrological Influences Shaping LeadershipPluto in Aquarius (2024–2044): Decentralizes power, supporting networks and micro-communities over rigid hierarchies.Neptune in Aries (2025–2039): Invites embodied, self-trusting leadership and ends illusions around hustle culture.Uranus in Gemini: Fuels cross-community collaborations and new problem-solving frontiers, stressing the synergy between diversity and innovation.Powerful Quotes“You don't have to become someone new, you have to become fully you. And that's the leadership that the world is begging for.”“Leadership, true leadership is being rewritten... it's a deeper, more intuitive power that already lives inside of you.”Key Questions Answered1. Why is traditional alpha leadership failing?[0:45–3:03 & 8:49-10:25]Traditional alpha leadership, built on hierarchy, dominance, and relentless hustle, is failing because it creates environments of exhaustion, broken teams, and a lack of true collaboration or personal alignment. 2. How do astrological influences like Pluto in Aquarius impact the future of leadership?[15:49–18:15]Astrological trends such as Pluto in Aquarius decentralize power structures, encouraging the rise of niche communities, collaborative pods, and interconnected networks instead of traditional hierarchies. This cosmic influence pushes leaders to value technology, intuition, and diverse relationships as key to effective influence and impact.3. What does it mean to “lead with presence” versus “lead with status”?[9:11–21:02]Leading with presence means guiding through energetic alignment, intuition, and embodied awareness, rather than relying on authority, volume, or outward status. It involves constantly recalibrating with your team or audience, fostering environments of trust, psychological safety, and genuine connection instead of simply commanding or performing.Join the Conversation! If today's episode inspired you or offered new insight into your personal leadership journey, make sure you subscribe, rate, and review on your favorite podcast platform.Share this episode with visionary friends who are ready to lead from truth, resonance, and aligned power!

Words matter and the way we use them can either uphold or challenge harmful systems. This week we're joined by Sydney - the co-founder of This Ends Now, a not-for-profit dedicated to preventing male violence against women and girls through reframing conversations. Sydney tells us how language plays a powerful role in shaping our understanding of sexism and male violence and how changing the words we use can help dismantle the patriarchy. We dive into their powerful ‘Red Pen' campaign, which calls out the victim-blaming, misogynistic language too often used in headlines and police reports and corrects them to advocate for responsible reporting. Our chat with Sydney was fascinating, and really opened up our eyes to how simple changes to the language we use can make a huge difference - and felt particularly important off the back of our conversation with Laura Bates last week. Why do some processes—like aging, birth, and car crashes—occur in only one direction in time, when by the fundamental symmetry of the universe, we should experience time both forward and backward? Our dominant perception of time owes more to Western history and social order than to a fact of nature, argues writer Rasheedah Phillips, delving into Black and Afrodiasporic conceptions of time, where the past, present, and future interact in more numerous constellations. Phillips unfolds the history of time and its legacy of racial oppression, from colonial exploration and the plantation system to the establishment of Daylight Savings. Yet Black communities have long subverted space-time through such tools of resistance as Juneteenth, tenant organizing, ritual, and time travel. What could Black liberation look like if the past were as changeable as the future? Drawing on philosophy, archival research, quantum physics, and Phillips's own art practice and work on housing policy, Dismantling the Master's Clock: On Race, Space, and Time (AK Press, 2025) expands the horizons of what can be imagined and, ultimately, achieved. In this episode of Passing Judgment, we examine sweeping changes in the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division under the Trump administration. Reporter Sam Levine joins host Jessica Levinson to discuss how the division, long tasked with enforcing voting rights and other protections, has seen over 70% of its attorneys depart amid a shift in priorities toward the president's agenda. The episode explores what this means for civil rights enforcement, voter protections, and whether former DOJ lawyers can fill the gap by taking their expertise into private practice. Here are three key takeaways you don't want to miss:The Role and Function of the DOJ Civil Rights Division and Voting Section: The conversation starts with an explanation of what the Civil Rights Division within the Department of Justice (DOJ) does. It is tasked with enforcing America's civil rights laws—including the Voting Rights Act—and consists of 11 sections dealing with various aspects of civil rights (voting, housing, education, anti-discrimination). Impact of Administrative Changes on DOJ Priorities: A significant theme is how changes in presidential administrations can redirect the focus and priorities of the DOJ and its sections—especially the Voting Section. While career attorneys (not political appointees) do most of the day-to-day work, political appointees set overarching priorities. Normally, shifts happen between administrations, but under the Trump administration, changes were described as “radical departures,” shifting focus to investigate noncitizen voting and prioritizing policies aligned with the president rather than traditional civil rights enforcement.Dismissal of Civil Servants and Dismantling of the Voting Section: The episode highlights the mass removal of senior civil servants in the Voting Section under Trump's administration, replacing experienced managers and ordering the dismissal of all active cases. This unprecedented action is portrayed as a clear signal of political influence overriding apolitical legal work—and is said to undermine the department's ability to fulfill its civil rights mandate.Follow Our Host and Guest: @LevinsonJessica@srl
The electric revolution isn't coming—it's already arrived at your recycling yard. In this eye-opening conversation, Greg Aguilera of International Automotive Consulting shares crucial insights on safely handling high-voltage vehicles that every recycler needs to hear.As one of North America's first certified high-voltage technicians, Greg brings a wealth of experience from his journey that took him from the UK to China and finally to Toronto. He reveals a troubling pattern in the industry: recyclers either leave EVs untouched out of fear or handle them with dangerous complacency. Both approaches cost yards money and create safety risks.Greg challenges common misconceptions, pointing out that the term "EV" encompasses not just Teslas but any high-voltage vehicle—including that Prius sitting in your yard right now. "A Prius is just as dangerous as a Tesla," he emphasizes, predicting that within 2-3 years, recyclers will be purchasing more high-voltage vehicles than traditional ones. What sets his training apart is its focus on the complete recycling process. Unlike generic EV courses, Greg's program addresses recycler-specific challenges: receiving vehicles, yard storage, proper dismantling, component testing, and safe shipping. The hands-on approach ensures workers demonstrate actual competency with the tools they'll use daily.Greg also shares fascinating insights into emerging battery technologies that will transform the industry, including sodium-ion batteries that perform excellently in extreme cold and new energy-dense cells that could extend ranges from 350 to over 2,000 miles with the same size battery.Whether you're already handling EVs or wondering how to prepare your yard, this conversation provides practical guidance for staying safe, reducing component returns, and positioning your business for the electrified future. Connect with Greg through URG or directly at www.intautoconsulting.com to bring specialized EV training to your facility.

Steve Bannon: Trump Is Waging ‘Economic Warfare' on the Chinese Communist Party This is the full version of Jan Jekielek's interview with Steve Bannon. The interview was originally released on Epoch TV on May 3, 2025. “Never before in history have two great trading entities ever engaged in outright economic warfare, like is being engaged today. And that's why I say we're living in historic times,” says Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist during President Donald Trump's first administration and host of the “War Room” show. “It's not just tariffs. They're a tool. [Trump]'s reorganizing the world system of commerce and of trade,” Bannon says. In this episode, we dive into the U.S.–China trade war, Trump's tariff strategy, his first 100 days in office, and where America is headed in the weeks and months to come. “The next 100 days are going to be three times more intense, dramatic, and meaningful than the first 100 days,” Bannon says. SHOW NOTES: •There was once a Readers Digest staple by this name, still available in summaries. •Here's mine. Keep in mind, when you critique someone who happens to be black, it's 'de rigueur' to announce, "I'm not a racist." Well, I'm announcing to you that I'm not a Trump supporter (and I'm also not a racist). •Years ago we thought about selling our home. Every realtor who showed me "comparable's" I turned away, because there was no comparable's to this home. It's a lifestyle, not a house. You judge it on that basis, not the neighbors. •People outside the US, especially in Europe, think that the US is simply like a European country, but much larger. (A client of mine in the EU, to whom I mentioned that Lichtenstein was the only European country I haven't visited, said, "Lichtenstein is in Europe?") •Trump is targeting some areas that need improvement, but where he should be using a scalpel he's using a flamethrower. •We cannot allow unregulated, illegal immigrants into the US. (Does an "undocumented immigrant" make a rioter an "undocumented shopper?") We cannot accommodate Latin America on our welfare system. •Dismantling the hundreds of millions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of organizations, and tens of thousands of people from the divisive DEI is productive. •Punishing—providing consequences—for universities which tolerate and even foster anti-Semitism and harm to Jewish students is an important consequence. "Hitler should have finished the job" is repugnant in moronic. •Taking the graft and waste out of social security and Medicare isn't ending it, it's saving money. (Do you know that billions were lost through corruption and criminality during Covid PPP payouts?) •It's interesting that when the US pulls out of an international aid group, the group usually has to close down, because no one else is supporting it sufficiently or intends to take over for us. •It's pretty clear a great many people seem to hate us in the US, and want us to fail, and enjoy using profanity hiding behind the internet to question our intelligence and wish us all the worst. •That's because they're envious of our freedoms, economy, and opportunities. It is self-hate directed outward. No country that declared neutrality in WWII should have any citizens voicing any critique of any country that fought they tyranny and oppression that threatened and killed so many. •There are no "comparable's" to the US, anywhere. If you want us to fail, give it your best shot, but you're on the wrong side of history and the future. •And some day, sooner or later, you're going to come around looking for our help again. You always do.

Just a heads up that this is a replay of one of our most loved episodes: Dismantling Internalized Capitalism. So while the content is still relevant, the ads you hear during the episode may not be. — Has busy-ness become the norm for your life? Have you felt that you're living to work rather than working to live? If you are, you're not alone. So many of us are impacted by internalized capitalism – it can feel like every decision we make is based on our productivity. This way of living wreaks havoc on our nervous system and doesn't foster an environment where we feel like we can truly flourish. This concept of internalized capitalism is something that I have spent more and more time thinking about, and seeing the impact of in my own life. Today on the podcast, I'm really excited to dig into this topic, this topic of internalized capitalism, what it means, how it plays into our life and how we can start to break up with this systemic challenge that many of us, especially ambitious empaths are still living and operating inside of so let's jump in. Topics: What internalized capitalism is, how it was formed, and how we can combat and overcome this systemic challenge Why this topic is important to Catherine and why she believes it directly affects empaths and HSPs Loving as a verb and why we have to make more room in our lives for simplicity Rest as an act of resistance and the profound consequences that can come from it The idea of living in accordance with the seasons and being comfortable with downturns and breakdowns Four places to start when it comes to understanding internalized capitalism and dismantling it in our own lives Episode Resources: All About Love by Bell Hooks Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey Wintering by Katherine May Do Nothing by Celeste Headlee Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke Connect with Catherine: Apply to join the free Unbounded community, a vibrant group of empathpreneurs who are passionate about supporting each other on our entrepreneurial journeys. What if your 'summer body' wasn't something to fix—but something to fuel your surf stoke? If you're tired of seeing summer framed as a time to shrink yourself, this episode of Confessions of a Surf Lady: The First Women's Surfing Podcast™ is your permission slip to redefine what it means to feel good in your body—on land and in the lineup. In this raw, unfiltered conversation, Surf Société Member Danyelle Carpenter and I reflect on body image, the toxic messages women receive from a young age, and how to gently dismantle the beliefs we inherited about how we're “supposed” to look. We talk about what it means to build a nourishing, sustainable relationship with your body—especially in surf culture, where expectations can be as rigid as they are outdated. From the pressure of "getting beach ready" to the insidious marketing of inclusivity in surf brands that still only reshare flat-stomached influencers, this one gets real. In episode 228 of America Adapts, host Doug Parsons speaks with Victoria Salinas, Senior Fellow at the Climate Resilience Institute at the University of Miami and former Deputy Administrator for Resilience at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Biden administration. Victoria shares her journey into federal service, including her decision to join FEMA at a critical juncture for the agency. She reflects on FEMA's traditionally reactive role and her efforts to reshape it into a more proactive force for community resilience—breaking down silos, emphasizing equity, and building a culture focused on climate risk reduction. The conversation explores key programs from her portfolio, including the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program, with a focus on supporting underserved communities and using data to target resources where they are needed most. She addresses the current political climate and discusses the dismantling of climate adaptation programs at FEMA. Despite her concern over recent setbacks, she offers a hopeful message for public servants, emphasizing the enduring value of service, equity, and innovation in climate resilience. This episode is a timely and candid reflection on what's at stake for climate adaptation in the United States—and what it will take to keep resilience on the national agenda. Transcript available here. Victoria Salinas Quotes: "My kind of reflection on this has been that, firstly, I had believed, and I think we're finding out wrongly, that disaster management and helping people basically reducing human suffering caused by disasters, I thought that was apolitical, right? Like that it would transcend political spectrums. And because they're dismantling so many of the programs that are aimed at reducing disaster risk, unfortunately, as you've seen, FEMA has become hyper-politicized." “We're not just funding infrastructure — we're funding trust. When we partner with communities early, we build the kind of trust that saves lives when a crisis hits.” “You can have the best resilience policy on paper, but if it doesn't survive a change in administration, it's not really resilient.” Check out the America Adapts Media Kit here! In this episode, we're joined by molecular biologist Dr. Jerneja Tomsic for a thorough, start-to-finish dismantling of PCR, the method that underpins much of modern diagnostic virology. We begin with foundational principles—Koch's postulates, isolation vs. purification, and the philosophical failures of modern science. Dr. Tomsic walks us through the basics of PCR, exposing its misuse in clinical settings and the flawed assumptions baked into its application. From there, we challenge the idea of asymptomatic carriers, the nonsense of virology, and the sleight of hand involved in viral sequencing, primer creation, and metagenomics. This is not just a technical critique—it's a deeper reflection on scientific corruption, narrative manipulation, and the role of fear as the real virus. If you've ever questioned the foundations of modern "infectious disease" science, this episode is essential listening.Keep up with me (socials)https://www.instagram.com/beyond.terrain/https://beyondterrain.com/Our vision at Beyond Terrain is best supported by sharing our work!Joining our private terrain community is also a wonderful way to support what we do here at Beyond Terrain.https://beyondterrain.com/beyond-terrain-community/Learn more from and support our esteemed guest, Dr. Tomsichttps://x.com/zianiniSLO

The same day investors learned that Tesla earnings dropped 71% in the first quarter, Elon Musk announced his decision to step away from DOGE. The controversial Trump administration role leaves Musk with a tarnished public image and a company that has born the brunt of public anger toward him. Musk told Tesla investors that next month, he will transition away from DOGE, spending a day or two a week on efforts to cut government waste, fraud and abuse. The move comes even as his efforts to cut $2 trillion fell far short. According to the Washington Post, Musk is ready to check out of Trump's administration as "attacks" from the left have also taken a toll. Presidential historian and political analyst John Rothmann will drop by the show to talk about Musk and much more. “It's the Planet, Stupid!” brings eco-journalist Belinda Weymouth to the show. On the heels of Earth Day, Belinda will showcase some of the organizations working to help the earth, despite a policy shift away from environmental protections.
In episode 119, we talk with Cameron Hilaker, who was recently fired from his job at USAID as part of DOGE cuts. He has supported over 20 responses, including evacuations, disruptions, and ordered departures. Before Cameron's time at USAID, he served as a peace corps volunteer in South Africa for three years working to combat HIV/AIDS where he met his wife Catharine. In this episode of The Wellness Matters Podcast, Ashley Hamilton joined me once again to record our second episode in a series. We are breaking down old programming beliefs and finding ways to replace them with new ideas.Last week's episode had to do with the school system. This week, however, we delved into the misconceptions surrounding parenting and the belief systems that have been passed down through generations. We discussed the importance of early childhood development, the challenges of discipline, and the significance of understanding emotions and communication in parenting. Ashley and I go kinda deep into the idea that just because the child is younger in years doesn't mean they don't understand our energy as adults. If we can take an extra minute to be intentional, meltdowns and arguments can be headed off.Check out this episode for an insightful conversation to heal yourself and then also your connection with any child in your life.I appreciate your support! If you feel called to support the podcast, leave a review on Spotify here or Apple here…And if you know someone who would benefit from this episode…Consider forwarding them this email.Other ways to find me:Instagram: wellness_matters_tribeFacebook: wellness mattersWebsite: wellnessmatterstribe.comMy book: The Missing Piece
After Beijing retaliated to U.S. tariffs, President Donald Trump has now announced a tariff hike to 125 percent on Chinese products—and a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs on other countries. To understand what's really going on, we're speaking with one of the world's leading experts on the Chinese economy.Christopher Balding was a professor at Peking University's HSBC School of Business until 2018 when he was fired for pushing back against censorship. Now, he is a senior fellow at the Henry Jackson Society and the founder of New Kite Data Labs.“I think President Trump wants to push a very deep, ongoing decoupling from China, and I think he wants to promote that decoupling, not just with China, but [by] drawing at least a secondary moat around near allies like Mexico, Canada, parts of Europe, Japan, and South Korea,” Balding says.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Today, we're discussing all things Department of Education — what it is, what it does, and what President Trump's executive order dismantling it means for both the department's own future as well as for you and your family. Secretary Linda McMahon is overseeing the downsizing of the department, but don't worry, school lunches, special education programs, and student loans aren't going anywhere. We also talk about soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo waiting for a "click" with his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, before he proposes to her.
