This week we speak with Sara Payan, a stage three cancer survivor who utilized cannabis in important ways during her successful battle. Sara is now the vice chair of the San Francisco State Legalization Task Force and the Director of Education at the Apothecarium in San Francisco, a health-care driven dispensary that focuses on cannabis remedies from migraines to a slew of severe diseases. Sara's knowledge and language and ability to educate is invaluable for a patient looking for help in states that don't recognize cannabis as medicine. We also continue our discussion with Stephanie Landa and learn how her charity Freedom Grow is helping inmates of nonviolent cannabis crimes pay for everyday items like toothbrushes and phone calls. Stephanie is eager to help those in need, and provides her contact information.

After five years of imprisonment for growing cannabis in California in 2002, Stephanie Landa joins us to discuss her charity Freedom Grow. Ms. Landa's work assists prisoners of non-violent cannabis related crimes with pocket change for items like toothbrushes, shampoo and money for phone calls. We discuss the absurdity of a lifetime sentence for a cannabis crime in a zeitgeist so readily open to use it as medicine. Shouldn't these cases be revisited? Couldn't the non-violent lifer have a chance at redemption, perhaps through one of thousands of jobs in cannabis itself? How will this person ever find work with such a felony charge? Also, Farmer Adam interviews Jonathan Covert, a grower out of Denver CO. The two experts “talk the talk” regarding the intricacies of growing cannabis as a craft. This interview is for those listeners ready to approach the nitty gritty of breeding, seed cultivation, stacking, clones and the distinction and importance of male and female plants. Bring a pen and enjoy!
