In this episode of Meaningful People, we sit down with Rabbi Avi Landa, LCPC, Mashgiach at the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore Middle School, Director of Education for Amudim, and Director of the Landa Counseling Center, to tackle one of the most pressing issues facing children and teens today: bullying. Drawing on his work in schools, private practice, and prevention programs worldwide, Rabbi Landa breaks down what bullying actually is (and isn't), why simplistic zero-tolerance approaches often fail, and how power dynamics and repeated behavior can deeply impact a child's sense of self. The conversation moves from theory to real, practical guidance for parents, educators, and communities: how to respond when your child is being bullied, when your child is the bully, and how empathy-driven intervention and education can genuinely change outcomes. We also explore the broader role of social-emotional learning in building healthier schools and safer communities. In this episode, I talk about the productivity and performance side of aligned ambition.Specifically, I introduce a distinction that comes up all the time in my work with clients – and that I use constantly in my own life:Me Problem vs. Process ProblemThis distinction matters any time something doesn't go the way you wanted it to.A meeting doesn't landA project doesn't get the result you expectedYou miss something you “should have” anticipatedYou procrastinate, get distracted, or don't follow through the way you intendedBefore you jump into tactics, fixes, or self-improvement plans…There's one critical step that determines whether your troubleshooting will actually help — or just burn you out.Book a free coaching consult, and let's talk about how we could work together: https://poojavcoaching.com/contact Email me anytime with thoughts, feedback, and topics you'd like to see covered on the podcast! pooja@poojavcoaching.com
Czy Soule wyszedł obronną ręką z dość karkołomnego pomysłu by zestawić młodego Skywalkera z pewnym… Sithem?

What happens when compassion, strength, and military medicine collide? In this Echo Episode, Dr. Andrea Austin speaks with Dr. Kat Landa, a Navy emergency physician whose career has taken her from a nontraditional path in medical school to a groundbreaking role as the first female battalion doctor assigned to a Marine Corps artillery unit.Kat recounts her childhood working in nursing homes, discovering medicine through geriatrics, and initially matching into family medicine before realizing her passion for emergency medicine. Her story takes a dramatic turn when she is unexpectedly assigned to 29 Palms as the first woman integrated into a previously all-male combat arms battalion—an environment shaped by intense hierarchy, alpha culture, and unspoken rules. She shares vividly, the shock of Marines lining up with “testicular pain” to see the new female doctor, navigating sexism, boundaries, and expectations to be the battalion's “warm fuzzy”, the emotional labor women physicians disproportionately shoulder, the traumatic burden many Marines carry through TBI, PTSD, and toxic norms, the deep meaning she found advocating for vulnerable service members—sometimes saving lives and how burnout, deployment, and personal crisis pushed her toward meditation and self-reclamation Dr. Landa's journey is raw, insightful, and deeply human, a reminder that leadership requires both backbone and heart, especially when systems aren't built with you in mind. You'll hear how they:Navigate gender bias and male-dominated culture while staying authenticBuild boundaries to survive overwhelming workloads and emotional laborUse compassion strategically—in 45-second doses—to transform patient interactionsAdvocate for Marines suffering from PTSD, TBI, and weight-related stigmaRecover from burnout through meditation, mindful routines, and self-care practicesFind strength in vulnerability and redefine what it means to lead in uniform If you've ever struggled to find your voice in a demanding system, this episode will move you, challenge you, and help you rediscover your center.About the Guest:“At your core, it's still just you—and you have control over you.” – Dr. Kat LandaDr. Kat Landa is a Navy emergency medicine physician whose career spans urgent care, family medicine internship, operational medicine with the Marine Corps, multiple deployments, and emergency department leadership. She was one of the first women assigned to a Marine Corps artillery battalion, where she learned to navigate gender dynamics, advocate for Marines suffering from invisible wounds, and lead with courage and compassion. Her interests include meditation, women's leadership, stress physiology, military wellness, and redefining what it means to thrive in demanding environments.

Along the way they discuss the fear they all felt for Shosanna, Tarantino's use of food in his films, Landa being the Nazi's very own Sherlock Holmes and if they believe Landa knew who she really was.Heather Baxendale-Walsh:Listen to the Word of Hell Mouth Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/word-of-hell-mouth/id1654712678Listen to A Pod of Wings and Filth: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-pod-of-wings-and-filth/id1812628934Follow HB Walsh on her Socials:Facebook: @HBaxWalshInstagram: @H.B.WalshAuthorWebsite: www.heatherbaxendale.comPetros Patsilivas:Listen to Caged In: Coppola Connections Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/caged-in-coppola-connections/id1214524537Caged In: Coppola Connections Socials:FB, Instagram & Twitter - @CagedinpodListen to Getting DaFoe You Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-dafoe-you-a-willem-dafoe-podcast/id1692186177Getting DaFoe You Podcast Socials:Instagram & Twitter- @DaFoeYouPodBecome a member of The Church of Tarantino:Follow us on our Socials:Facebook / Instagram / Threads / Blue Sky & Letterboxd: @ChurchOfQTPodEmail: TheChurchOfTarantino@gmail.comWe're also on the Rabbit Hole Podcast Network: https://rabbitholepodcasts.com/the-church-of-tarantino/
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What defines beauty, and who decides if we're worthy of love? In this deeply personal conversation about Alison Landa's memoir "Bearded Lady," my friend, Misty, and I explore the profound struggle of living with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), condition that causes excessive body hair growth, and the lifelong journey toward self-acceptance.Allison's story begins in childhood when her mother, rather than filling a prescription that could help manage her condition, simply teaches her to shave. This moment sets the stage for years of struggle with both her physical appearance and her self-worth. Through bullying, failed treatments, and romantic disappointments, Allison questions whether she'll ever find acceptance... from others or herself. As we unpack this powerful memoir, we weave in their own experiences with body image, parenting, and the search for self-acceptance. Misty, pregnant during recording, shares candid reflections about her changing body and her fears about motherhood while I talk about my own experience with bullying due to body hair. We hope our conversation creates a safe space to discuss the vulnerability we all face in our bodies. The episode culminates with Allison's discovery that wanting to change something about yourself isn't always about conforming to society's standards—sometimes it's simply about honoring your own desires. Her eventual finding of love with someone who accepts her completely while supporting her choices provides a beautiful resolution to her journey. This conversation will resonate with anyone who has ever felt defined by something they wish to change about themselves, or who has questioned where the line between self-acceptance and self-improvement truly lies. Het kan alle kanten op deze Giro. Roglic, das war einmahl. Ayuso, mentale problemen.

This week on Born to Watch, the team takes aim at one of Quentin Tarantino's most audacious creations with their Inglourious Basterds (2009) Review. Set in Nazi-occupied France during World War II, Tarantino weaves together a brutal tale of revenge, propaganda, and pure cinematic spectacle. Brad Pitt leads the charge as Lieutenant Aldo Raine, a grizzled American soldier commanding a team of Jewish fighters with one simple mission, kill Nazis and collect their scalps. It's a deliciously violent premise, executed with Tarantino's signature flair for dialogue, tension, and shock value. Whitey, Damo, G-Man, and special guest Dan break down the movie's unforgettable moments, from the iconic opening sequence in the French countryside to the explosive showdown in Shoshanna's Parisian cinema. The crew dives deep into the brilliance of Christoph Waltz as Colonel Hans Landa, the “Jew Hunter” whose multilingual charm and chilling brutality won him an Academy Award. Whitey recounts his jaw-dropping experience attending the Inglourious Basterds premiere at the State Theatre in Sydney, where he not only watched the film in stunning 70mm but bumped into Tarantino himself, earning a nod and a “Thanks, mate” from the director. It's a full-circle fanboy moment that the crew can't help but roast him for.Damo, true to form, is sceptical of the film's pacing and violence, admitting that it took him three separate tries to get through it. He hilariously recalls turning it off twice during the Bear Jew scene — the sound of the bat making contact just too much to handle. Meanwhile, G-Man shines with trivia gold, revealing Tarantino's decade-long script process and the last-minute discovery of Christoph Waltz, who stole the role from Leonardo DiCaprio. His ability to seamlessly switch between German, French, Italian, and English during his audition left Tarantino and producer Lawrence Bender high-fiving in disbelief. The team also dissects the infamous basement bar scene — a masterclass in tension and dialogue that only Tarantino could deliver. Michael Fassbender's suave but doomed performance as Lieutenant Archie Hicox gets high praise, while Damo can't help but admire his old-timey English gentleman look. Whitey and Dan debate whether this is the best opening scene of all time, putting it up against classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Dark Knight.Of course, it wouldn't be Born to Watch without a deep dive. Damo declares the movie a “masterpiece of tension,” while G-Man drops the trivia bomb that Tarantino nearly abandoned the script after failing to find the right actor for Landa. It wasn't until Waltz walked in and blew them away with his quad-lingual performance that the movie finally came together.IN THIS EPISODE:Quentin Tarantino's mastery of dialogue and pacingBrad Pitt's Southern drawl and why Aldo Raine might be his coolest roleChristoph Waltz's Oscar-winning turn as Hans LandaWhy the basement bar scene is Tarantino at his bestWhitey's surreal run-in with Tarantino after the Sydney premiereInglourious Basterds is the movie where history gets rewritten, Nazis get what's coming to them, and Tarantino crafts his most ambitious narrative yet. It's violent, sharp, and endlessly quotable. The team at Born to Watch spares no detail, no roast, and no punchline in their breakdown of this modern classic.Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your movie fix.Join the conversation:Is Inglourious Basterds Tarantino's best work? Can you handle the Bear Jew scene?Where does Hans Landa rank among the all-time great villains?Drop us a voicemail at BornToWatch.com.au and be part of the show!#BornToWatch #InglouriousBasterds #QuentinTarantino #BradPitt #ChristophWaltz #MoviePodcast #CinemaRevenge #NazisGetScalped #WorldWarIIMovies #TarantinoClassic

**This episode includes graphic descriptions of torture**When Franciscan friar Diego de Landa arrived in Yucatán (now in Mexico), his fascination with Maya culture soon twisted into fanaticism. Accusing the Maya of idolatry, Landa unleashed a brutal inquisition, burning thousands of sacred texts and artifacts, erasing centuries of knowledge in a single day. Yet, in a twist of fate, his own writings would later become the key to understanding the very civilization he tried to erase. In the last episode in our mini-series debunking the myths about the Conquest of the Americas, Professor Suzannah Lipscomb is joined by Dr. Amy Fuller to explores one of history's most chilling acts of cultural destruction: the 1562 auto de fé at Maní.Presented by Professor Susannah Lipscomb.
