On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I dive into the idea of how without awareness or tools, we can end up turning our feelings into felonies.Maybe not literally - but if we're not careful, the ways in which we react, lash out, or stew in negativity – can still be harmful.I share about the importance of emotional regulation and how so many of us were never really taught as kids what the heck to do with our big feelings.I talk about how easy it is to look at extreme acts of violence in the world and think, “That's not me,” but the truth is, we all have moments where our emotions get the best of us.Whether it's snapping at someone, holding onto grudges, losing your shit in traffic, or letting our thoughts spiral, it's all part of the same cycle. The thing us, for most people growing up, nobody sat us down to teach us how to feel our feelings, or how to navigate those suckers in a healthy way.Throughout the episode, I also share some of my favorite tools and strategies for getting a handle on those big emotions.Things like slowing down, practicing self-awareness, and using healthy coping mechanisms like walking, breathing exercises, or even just getting outside in nature to shift your perspective.I also talk about the power of community, whether it's joining a group like The Nest or just finding people who support and uplift you.My hope is that by sharing these stories and tools, you'll feel a little less alone, and a little more empowered to pause, check in with yourself, and choose love over fear.We can't always control what happens around us, but we can choose how we respond. So let's practice being kinder to ourselves and each other, and remember: the real gig is to spread love - and not let our feelings run the show. ❤️ KK'S KEY TAKEAWAYS:• Slowing down is the first key step to becoming more self-aware and emotionally regulated.• Emotional regulation means learning to manage your feelings and responses in healthy ways.• Unchecked emotions can lead to negative thoughts, actions, and even harm to yourself or others.• Healthy coping mechanisms like walking, breathing exercises, and spending time in nature can help shift your emotional state.• Self-awareness grows when you pause, reflect, and notice your patterns and triggers.• It's important to question your thoughts and not believe every story your mind tells you.• Community support, whether through groups or trusted people, can make a big difference in emotional well-being.• Practicing kindness, compassion, and love - toward yourself and others - can help break negative emotional cycles.• You have the power to interrupt harmful patterns and consciously choose more helpful responses.• The real goal is to spread more love and to leave the world better than you found it. This conversation delves into the foundational aspects of constitutional law, focusing on the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the 14th Amendment. It explores their historical significance, judicial interpretations, and real-world applications, emphasizing the importance of understanding these concepts for aspiring legal professionals. The discussion also highlights the evolving nature of individual rights and the complexities of judicial scrutiny in contemporary legal challenges.Imagine a world where the government could seize your home without notice or where laws discriminated based on race or gender. These scenarios, reminiscent of dystopian fiction, highlight the importance of constitutional safeguards in American legal history. The Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses are pivotal in protecting against such injustices.Historical Origins and Judicial Interpretation: The 14th Amendment, adopted post-Civil War, reshaped the relationship between individuals and the government. It aimed to secure rights for freed slaves, but its impact extends far beyond, forming the basis for landmark decisions like Brown v. Board of Education and Obergefell v. Hodges. The Due Process Clause, appearing in both the Fifth and 14th Amendments, ensures fairness from both federal and state governments. It has been interpreted expansively, covering life, liberty, and property in ways that affect modern administrative law.Procedural vs. Substantive Due Process: Procedural due process guarantees fair procedures when the government acts against an individual, asking "what process is due?" Landmark cases like Goldberg v. Kelly and Matthews v. Eldridge illustrate the evolving standards of procedural fairness. Substantive due process, on the other hand, protects fundamental rights not explicitly listed in the Constitution, challenging the inherent fairness of laws themselves. This concept has been pivotal in cases like Griswold v. Connecticut and Roe v. Wade.Equal Protection Clause: The Equal Protection Clause promises that no state shall deny any person equal protection under the law. It focuses on who the government treats differently and ensures that any classification is justified by strong constitutional reasons. The clause has been central in cases involving race, gender, and sexual orientation, applying varying levels of judicial scrutiny to assess the fairness of laws. The Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses are dynamic doctrines, continually shaped by societal challenges and judicial interpretation. They not only protect established rights but also provide a framework for future generations to challenge discrimination and assert evolving understandings of liberty. As society changes, these clauses remain vital in demanding justice and fairness.TakeawaysThe fight against injustices is essential to American legal history. The 14th Amendment reshaped the relationship between individuals and government.Due Process and Equal Protection are critical for individual rights.Understanding procedural vs. substantive due process is vital for legal analysis. The Equal Protection Clause prevents purposeful discrimination.Judicial scrutiny varies based on the classification involved.Rational basis review is the most lenient standard for government actions.Strict scrutiny applies to laws affecting suspect classes or fundamental rights. The right to travel encompasses multiple distinct rights.Felony disenfranchisement policies are subject to ongoing debate and reform.Constitutional Law, Due Process, Equal Protection, 14th Amendment, Judicial Scrutiny, Individual Rights, Legal History, Civil Rights, American Law, Supreme Court

Have you heard about this, a Teen's First Turkey Hunt Sparks A  Felony Charge and Community Outcry? We've got the scoop. September thru early October brings about pests of the slithery poisonous nature, beware, and have you heard, Justin Boots has revived an iconic style?! Join radio hosts Rebecca Wanner aka ‘BEC' and Jeff ‘Tigger' Erhardt (Tigger & BEC) with the latest in Outdoors & Western Lifestyle News! Season 5, Episode 254 Teen's First Turkey Hunt Sparks Felony Charge and Community Outcry  According to Outdoorlife.com, A Georgia teen is facing a felony charge for what many thought was a simple spring turkey hunt gone right. But the wild turkey he tagged after church Sunday, in late April on his family's 11-acre property may have belonged to a neighbor—who also happened to, now be, his former teacher. The two properties are separated by a 70-acre horse farm. After the teen, then 16, shared photos online of his first turkey—a moment of pride for any young hunter—his now former teacher claimed the bird was actually her pet. Days later, the teen found himself charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony. More Details: The hunt took place on April 28th, 2025, and by all accounts, the bird was on his family's land. On April 30th, a Georgia DNR game warden visited the property following a complaint made by neighbor/former teacher, where the parents allowed a search which found one shotgun shell case, feathers at the location of harvest, confirmed it was a legal hunting ground and found no signs of baiting or violations in which the DNR concluded it would not file any charges as the turkey in question is not protected. However this DNR agent did advise the parents that other charges could be brought through the sheriff's office or civilly. The parents stand behind their son's claim to have had no idea the turkey might've been domestic—or belonged to anyone. After harvesting the turkey, the teen brought it to a taxidermist and went about his day. The complaint by the teacher is that the teen knowingly killed the turkey she claimed was her pet, then bragged about it online and at school. Statements given by the accuser during her in-school testimony June 4th tribunal hearing, according to her testimony there were no identifying markers on the bird, such as a band on its leg to indicate it was a pet.  The parents don't dispute that their son harvested a turkey on their property.  But, they say, he did not know it belonged to anyone when he shot it.   But the fallout has been anything but normal. Felony charges were brought up against the teen, resulting in his suspension from school. He had to move out of state to live with relatives, and is now waiting for his day in juvenile court. A plea deal was offered if he admitted guilt and paid $150 for the turkey—but his family says he didn't knowingly do anything wrong, and they stood by him. The case has sparked debate in the small town of Waverly Hall, Georgia, and drawn national attention from hunters and supporters who say the situation has gone too far. With a court date now set for later this fall, the young hunter remains in limbo—his first turkey, once a rite of passage, now at the center of a high-stakes legal battle. We'll keep you updated as the story unfolds. For now, many are left asking: was this a crime, or just a kid's first hunt caught up in a neighborly dispute? To clarify, in Georgia, they hunt for a wild Eastern Turkey. The turkey harvested was found to be a domestic Narragansett turkey. Difference in Appearance: Narragansett Turkeys, a domestic breed: have a mixed feather coloration: black, gray, tan and white which gives an almost bronze-like look, a bit more white and lighter coloring compared to an Eastern wild turkey.  READ THE FULL STORY HERE, Reference: https://www.outdoorlife.com/hunting/georgia-teen-turkey-felony-charge/ STAY ALERT: Venomous Snake Season Is Here! It's that time of year—baby copperheads are active, and they're born fully venomous. One mother can have 8–10 babies, often staying close by. These small snakes sport greenish-yellow tail tips on their first-year plumage—an identifying trait worth noting. Though not aggressive, copperheads will defend themselves if stepped on or touched unexpectedly. Keep a watchful eye in shady, damp spots around your yard—think under flowerpots, toys, pet bowls, or bushes. Always look before you reach! Fall brings more snake movement—prairie rattlers and western diamondbacks become active as temperatures cool. Be alert, stay safe, and remind everyone in the family to check before grabbing or leaning. Western Lifestyle News The Return of a Western Classic: Justin Boots' Roper Revival They're back, folks! With homicide rates doubling since 2019, and offenders with dozens of priors still being released, the discussion exposes how partisan politics and voter blocs perpetuate a cycle of crime, corruption, and tragedy in North Carolina and beyond.

Compiled by a 30-year veteran of the conflicts and camaraderie, these are true stories that many insiders would rather remain untold. So much has been obscured by the laughs at favorite late-night shows, disguised by celebrities' Botox-enhanced smiles, masked by the applause of adoring fans, and protected by professional ethics and discretion-until now.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Fox News Host turned top prosecutor in DC, Jeanine Pirro, engaged in gross prosecutorial overreach by urging multiple grand juries to charge protestors with felonies when the facts plainly warranted only misdemeanor charges.Fortunately, the grand jurors, sitting as the conscious of the community, refused to indict the protestors of felony crimes. So Pirro directs her prosecutors to charge the protesters with less series misdemeanor offenses.Given how Donald Trump treated the "protestors" who attacked the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021, versus how Trump's DOJ is currently treating these two protestors, Glenn says they'll have one heck of a selective prosecution defense at their misdemeanor trials. For nightly live Law Talks, please join Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comIf you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts, you can become a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner If you'd like to support Glenn and buy Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at https://glennkirschner.com/Follow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/glennkirschn...TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/glennkirschner2See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In fact, those grand juries told here no FOUR TIMES!One of the protestors threw a sandwich at an officer and another reportedly stepped between a scuffle with officers who were trying to detain someone due to the person's immigration status. The grand jury sits as the conscious of the community and evaluates the evidence presented by the prosecutors to determine if there is enough evidence to indict someone on a felony charge.
