After more than 7 years of podcasting, this might be the most important episode Team Guru has ever produced. Raising tech healthy humans is the biggest challenge parents face today. Technology is an unavoidable part of life. It's difficult to raise kids who experience humanity in its fullness - because the online world has a gravitational pull. It's like being caught in a riptide. "The pull of culture is to draw us into being constantly online - particularly our kids. If we don't do anything our kids will be sucked out to sea." Our challenge is to raise humans who have a love of life - a life that includes the tech world - but goes beyond the tech world. It's hard for parents to find that balance. That's the grand challenge.

This morning on The Coffee Run LIVE ep 519 - I shared some insights from a late-night interview last night with David from Team Guru. Ok. It wasn't really that late. It was 8.30pm... the time when I am usually either on my way to bed or counting down the minutes to be on my way to bed ;) hahahaha!! I know. I'm SUCH a badass - hahhahahahaaaa. Today is a very special episode of the show. After four years we’ve finally reached our 100th episode. And we have a special guest. David Frizzell! David has a really unique story to share. He started his career as a teacher but ended up in the corporate world helping to create better teamwork through his company Team Guru. He has a lot of important ideas about how to make teams work better together. It's a simple idea but one that most companies are woefully bad at. Over the next hour David and I are going to talk about some of those ideas. And we’re going to reflect back on the last 100 hours of podcast episodes he’s created. If only life came with a set of instructions. What a great concept. I’m not sure we’d all follow them or if many of us would even read them. But it’d be nice to know they were there. But there not or perhaps, they we not, until now. Here at the Team Guru podcast I get a lot of books come my way. But the one belonging to Lisa Stephenson, my guest in this episode, jumped out at me from the moment I saw it. It’s title Read Me First. Is simple and intriguing. So I read it. And found inside I found a fabulous story, wonderfully written about a women piloting herself through life. And learning a bunch of heavy lessons along the way. Through the pages of her book, I could feel Lisa’s personality. Her tenacity, her intelligence, and her energy. And that’s exactly what I found when I chatted to her for this episode. Lisa has taken the lessons she has extracted from life. She’s made sense of them, and found a way to share them so we can make a little more sense of our own lives.

Recently I was invited to host an event sponsored by Women in Resource Mining Queensland. I interviewed Tim Crossley who has had a long career with some of the biggest companies in Australia, including BHP Billiton. We discussed how he made the transition from technical doer to technical leader through the various levels of senior management. We discussed his strengths and weaknesses in the C-suite. And Tim was very open and honest about the price he paid in his personal life to achieve his professional goals.
