The boys are fed up as the NRL product continues its on-field decline in 2026, with the game's transformation into all-attack-no-defence proving to be a sore-point for NRL fans everywhere (this leads the boys to protest their NRL coverage this episode into a more condensed format). This episode is largely dedicated however to the upcoming State of Origin Series, with the panel selecting their Game 1 lineups for both the NSW Blues and QLD Maroons. In the NRL the Bulldogs lose 4-straight, Roosters win in controversial circumstances, Eels score first ever 3-point golden point victory, Dragons STILL winless, Fozball is in full-effect, Storm break their 7-game losing streak, and Panthers defeat a gallant Raiders in the game of the week.——TIMESTAMPS:00:00 - Intro07:50 - Panel Protest: “We don't like the NRL in 2026”18:30 - Episode Overview19:05 - Bunker Review: NSW Blues Game 1 Lineup Predictions57:52 - Bunker Review: QLD Maroons Game 1 Lineup Predictions1:11:03 - Bunker Review: The Sideline Story combined Origin team selections1:16:01 - NRL Round 10: TSS Tipping & Supercoach Comps1:21:38 - NRL Round 10: Overview 1:54:34 - NRL Round 11: Rapid Fire Tips1:57:55 - ATG: Challenge Cup Semi-Final Results1:58:33 - Outro——Click the link to follow us on Instagram, Facebook & TikTok, or to listen on your preferred podcasting platform:https://linktr.ee/thesidelinestoryrlpodcast——Hosted by Daniel Tassone, Nicholas Guild & Ryan Clarke.Podcast distributed to all major listening apps.Music credit ‘Chase' [prod. On the Build Show podcast's Origin Series, host Matt Risinger sits down with Bernie Calcote, president and CEO of Melde Construction — a nearly 46-year-old Austin firm known for architecturally significant custom homes and high-end remodels. Bernie's path into construction is anything but conventional: he arrived in Austin as a musician and art substitute teacher before answering a Craigslist ad for a carpenter's helper at Melde, eventually working his way to the top. The conversation covers Melde's culture-first approach, Austin's collaborative building community, and the value of long-term mentorship in developing strong project managers and tradespeople. Matt Risinger sits down with veteran custom builder Brian Long of Brian Long Custom Homes for a candid “Origin Series” conversation packed with real-world construction industry lessons—from Brian's early days as a master carpenter and cabinet maker to building high-end custom homes in Dallas and eventually helping pioneer spray foam insulation in Austin. They break down what it really takes to succeed as a builder: developing relentless work ethic, building trust through integrity and service, finding elite subcontractors through references and jobsite quality checks, and staying hands-on to catch the details that protect performance, durability, and waterproofing. The episode also tackles the realities of building in Texas without a builder licensing requirement, why mentorship and trade education matter, how to survive market slowdowns with remodel work, and why “doing it right the first time” is the best marketing in custom home building. We're back at the Bardstown Bourbon Company with Jake Sulek, the experience and education manager, recording in the Heritage Library surrounded by dusty bottles and stories from Kentucky's whiskey past. We're tasting the Origin Series Rye, a minimum six year rye that's produced, aged and bottled at Bardstown Bourbon Company and available in Australia. While the mash bill looks familiar at 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley, the flavour comes from a finishing barrel designed for innovation. The conversation turns to whiskey history. Jake shares stories about defunct distilleries around Bardstown, preserved warehouses still used today, what Prohibition did to the industry, how brands consolidated afterward, and how the bourbon glut pushed Kentucky down to just nine active distilleries by the year 2000. If you want a rye that feels different, or you love the history behind American whiskey, this episode is for you. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, rugby league was a code looking to expand nationally after the success of its premier competition in Sydney. Clubs emerged in Brisbane, Newcastle, and the Gold Coast. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation took the growth in the sport as an indication it ought to expand even further and plotted a coup, to take the running of the code out of the hands of the establishment - the Australian Rugby League. What followed was a war that ripped the sport apart with Murdoch on one side and the other, backed by another multi-millionaire media mogul, Kerry Packer. It was mogul against mogul, club against club, and players against players. In this episode of Judgements we take a deep dive on how and why the war began - and how the game came back together to form what is now the National Rugby League.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
