The Gilded Age and Progressive Era

During the nineteenth century, the Zouave was everywhere. The uniform characterized by an open, collarless jacket, baggy trousers, and a fez, originated in French Algeria, but became common amongst military men in France, the United States, and the Papal States, taking on a life of its own. Historians Carol E. Harrison and Thomas J. Brown join us to explain the often-misunderstood outfit and its connection to colonialism, race, gender, fashion, and military tactics, and dress.Essential Reading:Carol E. Harrison and Thomas J. On the podcast this week, the Bishop of Maine, the Rt Revd Thomas James Brown, talks to Madeleine Davies about the American Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Elizabeth Strout – many of whose books are set in the State of Maine, New England. They discuss, among other things, Strout's depiction of the Puritan mindset, the challenges of small-town ministry, and how clergy might respond to the gossip that occurs in their communities. Bishop Brown also considers the comparison often made between Elizabeth Strout and Marilynne Robinson. Madeleine has written a feature on Elizabeth Strout for this week's Church Times (16 December). To watch the video mentioned in this audio please visit us on Bitchute : https://www.bitchute.com/video/Xp3ayq195zFD/ TRANSCRIPT Sacha Stone: The Lazarus Initiative is all about human sovereignty. It's all about consciousness in action. It's all about the elevation of art, beauty, and consciousness over the matrix of time, money, and fear, which is of course the tool set that has been used by the Luciferic and satanic elements in the annals of history going back many, many thousands of years. And it's just part of the story, all of the wickedness that we're witnessing in the world today on the political landscape and through mainstream media snaking its way through the portals of academia and the parliaments of this world and the multilateral institutions hiding behind their technocracies and their bureaucracies are the fetid little individuals semi and sold creatures. The bureaucrats who are dreaming up the penalties, dreaming up the prescriptions, dreaming up the enclosures and the definitions of our majesty of our imminent beauty, and limitlessness as sons and daughters of God. That's who you are. That's who I am. And we lay claim to that in this time space vector. Sacha Stone: I welcome you to the Lazarus Initiative.
