Our core values set who we are, our vision, how we function, and our culture. The last two core values are Striving to make it better, and We acknowledge and reward. Takeaways from this episode: • Have a safe environment where you can disagree. • Put your ideas out there and don’t be so emotionally attached to your idea that you can’t recognize someone else has a better idea. • A lot of times we gloss over things because we are to busy patting ourselves on the back for what a good job we did. • Ask your self “ how can we make it better”. • Constantly evaluate what you are doing. • Evaluation is hard because it forces collaboration. Quotes: • “Don’t be content with where you are, lets keep growing” Robbie Ellis • “Have a healthy discontent in your area of ministry” Steve Smith • “You have to be humble and will to receive criticism” Steve Miller • “Progress is celebrated, and we win together” Steve Miller • “People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers” Steve Smith Practical Application: • Evaluation and Collaboration. • Open yourself up to constructive criticism. • Get a fresh perspective. • Consistently send thank you notes whether verbally or written. • Celebrate wins together. • Be willing to try new things. • Remember you are a team.

We hope you have fun along the way!  Episode 4: Our Church Planting Strategy In this episode we will talk about our strategy for planting churches. We have Pastor Josh Cox on today to share about our partnership with him in planting Keystone Baptist Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Takeaways from this episode: Reproduce Corporately, not just individually Develop a culture of being a sending church If you hire a type A person, you must have a plan in place to send him out and allow him to be what God wants him to be Our strategy here at Rosedale is not to start a Rosedale B, but what God wants it to be We believe in accountability, and having processes in place to be accountable Quotes: “As we give out, God always has more coming in, then as we have more coming in, we have more being planted” Scott Tewell “We want to be a church that brings them in, trains them up, and sends them out” Scott Tewell “Our People celebrate the sending out of our Pastoral staff” Steve Smith “It is counterproductive to fight the process” Scott Tewell Practical Application: Develop a culture where your staff feels comfortable and not afraid to approach you about leaving to plant a church. Set up financial accountability to funnel money for them. Work together Spend time thinking about what you will need financially, spiritually, resource-wise, and timeline wise to get the church off the ground as soon as possible. Introduction to the Podcast: Welcome to the Access Rosedale Podcast. Each month we will sit down and share insights about leadership, processes, and the culture of Rosedale Baptist Church. RBC is a leading church in Baltimore, Maryland that is pastored by Scott Tewell. Please join us each month for insights and strategies that have the ability to improve your ministry. We hope you have fun along the way!  Episode 3: Structured For Growth In this episode we will give an overview of how our church is structured, how we operate, what we look for in teams, and how we develop people. We hope that this helps you to see how you can have well-structured organization, whether you are a small church or a large church. Takeaways from this episode: We aren’t looking for managers; we are looking for leaders.  If you have two or three people doing at 80% of what you would have done at 100%, you’re still getting a whole lot more done for the glory of God. Getting out of the way is key to letting the team do what they do. Hire people that are better than us in certain areas. Hire slow. It’s easy to change a process; it is not easy to change a person. Quotes: “We win as a team, we lose as a team. No one of us is greater than all of us.” Scott Tewell “Every organization has a structure, is the structure you have giving you the results you want?” Steve Miller “Have the mindset, what’s best for the team.” Scott Tewell Practical Application: Having processes is vitally important. Define roles, and give freedom within those confines. Value Productivity. If a person is faithful in the little things, give them more to manage. Spend time with your Pastor in a small setting environment, get to know him and ask questions about your area and his expectations. Invest in your congregation, look for those that you can invest in and build up as leaders. Remember as you grow, you have to constantly be restructuring.

RBC is a leading church in Baltimore, Maryland that is pastored by Scott Tewell. Please join us each month for insights and strategies that have the ability to improve your ministry. We hope you have fun along the way! Episode 2: A Multi-Generational Church In this episode we will share the DNA of RBC . Watch Message https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibrcDKcSURA We have always been a multi-generational church through strategic intentionality. We hope you enjoy hearing the ways that we have “appreciated the older generation and included the younger generation.” Takeaways from this episode: LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE: We want to be as patient with other people as the Lord has been with us. ROSEDALE CULTURE HIGHLIGHT: “The church is one generation from extinction.” We’re not merely trying to reach those that have already been reached; we must reach the next generation. The ones that have been here for 20 years must reach out to those that have been here for 2 weeks. Quotes: “If we don’t give an on-ramp to the younger generation, they will feel excluded. If we get rid of the older preferences, the older generation will feel left behind.” Scott Tewell “If we’re reaching our community, it should be reflected in the congregations that we’re pastoring.” Scott Tewell “We don’t compromise our principles, but we must reach a younger generation for the Lord.” Steve Smith PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Giving: We provide traditional ways of giving (envelopes and passing a plate) as well as include the younger by providing online giving and text giving. Communication: We communicate through all modes including letters, email, video, and social media. Music: We must be able to minister to both generations. Providing a Godly mix of the old and the new allows us to minister effectively. How: Over-communicate prior to adjustment. Adjustment is not changing, it’s adding; it’s not eliminating, it’s broadening. Move very slowly. We have our entire life to pastor the people we’re pastoring. Get buy-in from the people as adjustments are made. Appreciate the older generation by listening, spending time visiting, and praying together. The first episode will have a slightly different approach to help you understand how God has built and grown the church over the past 20 years. Please join us each month for insights and strategies that have the ability to improve your ministry. We hope you have fun along the way! Episode 1: Building a Broken Church: In this episode, we will share how God has built His church over the past 20 years. From a broken church made up of a small core of faithful people to a thriving ministry that affects thousands weekly, Pastor Scott Tewell says, “It’s a place that no one can get the credit but God.” Takeaways from this episode: LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE: You can’t do it all, but you can do the important. Get as much help as you can possibly get. Recruit and train staff and volunteers. Broaden the base of leadership. ROSEDALE CULTURE HIGHLIGHT: One driving question that permeates our culture is “How do we minister to the next person?” It’s never been about the number of people, but how can we best meet the spiritual needs of the next person that God sends through the doors. We are not building a church; God is building His church! You don’t have to be someone else. Be Yourself. You don’t need to become your Bible college professor or your hero of the faith, be authentic to who God has made you to be. Tweetable moments: “The greatest thing you’ll ever see done is what God does.” Scott Tewell http://bit.ly/tweet_scott_tewell_quote “Though God has done miracles, the best is yet to come.” Steve Miller http://bit.ly/tweet_steve_miller_quote “I’d rather see God reach 5 people than for me to reach 50 people.” Scott Tewell http://bit.ly/tweet_scott_tewell_quote2 “Church processes must be able to shift with growth.” Steve Smith http://bit.ly/tweet_steve_smith_quote In this Episode: Pastor Scott Tewell - Lead Pastor, Rosedale Baptist Church twitter.com/scott_tewell Pastor Steve Miller - Creative Pastor, Rosedale Baptist Church twitter.com/pastorsteve82 Pastor Steve Smith - Executive Pastor, Rosedale Baptist Church twitter.com/SteveTSmith_ www.rosedalebaptist.org
