When one woman speaks up, it's never just about her story—it's a challenge to the systems that rely on silence to maintain control. In a world where narratives are carefully shaped and dissent is often dismissed, reclaiming power means refusing to accept the version of reality that's handed down. The more voices that rise, the harder it becomes to ignore the truth, no matter how inconvenient it may be. Real change doesn't start with permission; it starts with the courage to be heard.Sage Steele is a distinguished sports broadcaster and media personality who spent 16.5 years at ESPN before launching The Sage Steele Show on YouTube. As a former SportsCenter host and basketball sideline reporter, she is known for her fearless approach to discussing controversial topics and advocating for women's rights. Today, Sage shares her journey of finding courage, navigating challenges in the media industry, and her passionate advocacy for protecting women's sports. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond!Quotes: “Don't waste my pain. If you ignore what I've been through, it will have been for nothing. Use this, be better, make better decisions, and don't doubt yourself as long as I did.” – Sage Steele“I've always preached diversity of thought, and that's all I've ever wanted. I don't actually care how you vote, what you think, what you do - I care how do you treat people.” – Sage Steele“When you're vulnerable, others are more willing to be vulnerable too, and when we all share our stories, others realize they're not alone.” – Sage Steele“There's a human element we seek—the morals and values that connect us. We're not looking for everyone to share our opinions on everything; we're looking for shared values.” – Matt BeaudreauTakeaways:Practice courage by speaking up for your beliefs, even when it's uncomfortable or might cost you professionally.Audit your self-talk and seek help when struggling with personal challenges instead of suffering silently.Challenge yourself to have meaningful conversations with people who think differently, focusing on shared humanity over political divisions.Reflect on areas where fear prevents you from taking action and identify one small step to push past that hesitation.Commit to supporting others by sharing your personal experiences authentically, recognizing that vulnerability can help people feel less alone. Conclusion:In a time of deep division, honest conversations and courage have the power to bring people together and drive real change. Speaking up for your beliefs, even when it comes at a cost, can break cycles of fear and complacency. Those who refuse to stay silent set an example for others, proving that progress starts with people willing to take a stand. Change doesn't happen through avoidance—it happens when people choose integrity over comfort.

When Nick Barrett launched his company in 2020, he had no experience in product development. Just a few years later, his products have appeared on The TODAY Show, Good Morning America, ABC Secret Sales, and the Tamron Hall Show. They've also been endorsed by Sharks from ABC's Shark Tank. His product, the CordBrick, was voted "Coolest Product" by attendees of the National Retail Federation BIG SHOW in NYC in 2023. Creating a Unique Product Nick built his first prototype of the CordBrick out of modeling clay from Michael's. He knew the design needed to be simple, clean, and mass-market-friendly. Nick recommends all product-based entrepreneurs find a unique angle or design to help differentiate from the competition–and that once you find that unique aspect, protect it. The CordBrick has multiple patents, including utility and intellectual property. Share Your Idea as Much as Possible Nick's biggest advice to other entrepreneurs is to share your idea with as many people as possible. Some founders are worried about people stealing their ideas, but the benefits outweigh the risks. An outside perspective can help you see your product in a new light and come up with better solutions. Another benefit is that the more information you give people, the more likely they are to introduce you to their network and connect you with the right people. Likewise, Nick recommends consulting with other entrepreneurs who have done the thing you're trying to accomplish. Look into what made those people successful. Read their biographies, and if you're able, reach out and connect with them. But when you ask for advice, focus on the big picture. The industry and technology may have changed, but the principles remain the same. Enjoy this episode with Nick Barrett… Soundbytes 10:17-10:38 “How much would people really pay to solve this problem? Like $5? So one of the first things I did was I took these and I took them to a little shopping center near me, and people told me they would pay not just five, but $10. Some people even told me $20. Several people told me 20 and I was like, Wow, that's crazy. I can't believe people would pay that much to solve this. I might be able to have a business out of this.” 11:58-12:24 “Don't be afraid to share your idea with a lot of people. I think people keep things too close to their chest for too long, and they either don't do anything, or they get stuck on a couple of thoughts. They either haven't diagnosed the problem correctly, or there's a solution they haven't considered, and just by talking to people, I would say I've gained so much more benefit from talking to people.” Quotes “Don't be afraid to share your idea with a lot of people.” “The more you share, the more information people can give you about how to help you better or introduce you to the right person.” “It's more work than you think, but that doesn't mean not to do it.” Links mentioned in this episode: From Our Guest CordBrick: https://cordbrick.com/ Connect with Nick on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-barrett-0781491a/ Connect with brandiD Download our free guide to learn 16 crucial website updates that attract more leads and convert visitors into clients: https://thebrandid.com/website-tweaks/ Ready to elevate your digital presence with a powerful brand or website? "Do you know somebody by the name of Benjamin Franklin? Doesn't ring any bells." While it might be time for someone to go back to school to learn some American history, today's history lesson isn't something they taught you back in the day. On today's episode of Beyond the Norm we truly go outside of the norm and look at one of America's founding fathers through a new lens. There are many words that one could use to describe Benjamin Franklin, but would you ever expect a lot of them in his time were "perverse" "taint" "rank" and "feral"? It turns out Franklin had a noted history of being a pretty crazy sexual deviant, and Christi has all the salacious details. From his youth to his dying days Franklin indulged in just about all his sexual whims. He would frequent brothels and would bed women both old and young, often simultaneously! His first child wasn't even with his own wife, and she still raised that child! One things for certain, you'll never look at a $100 bill quite the same after today's episode.Quotes“Don't send Stephen nudes, that is my request. “To compare yourself to others is to forget about your own unique journey” Emily's Quotes“Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself to the person you were yesterday” Jordan Peterson Comparison is a slippery slope. How much experience is necessary to start an event planning business? In this episode, May Yeo Silvers tackles this frequently asked question, emphasizing that the quality and diversity of experiences matter more than the number of years in the industry. She explains that many event planners begin by organizing events for friends and family, often turning a hobby into a business despite initial doubts about their skills. May breaks down the roles of decorators, designers, and planners, highlighting the specific skills each requires. She stresses that decorators need only a few solid designs to start, while designers should understand trends and collaborate with vendors. Planners need a broad skill set, including contract negotiation and budgeting. Investing in education and shadowing experienced professionals is crucial, with continuous learning being key. May reassures aspiring event planners that having the basic skills and a passion for growth means they're ready to start their business, regardless of the length of their experience. Quotes • “Don't worry about getting complaints from your client when you don't know how to do certain things. You're human. If there's something that you don't know, you can go learn. You can go ask. Don't expect yourself to know every single thing.” (35:29 | May Yeo Silvers) • “The business fundamentals, the marketing skills, the lead conversion skills, the budgeting, business finance budgeting, and sales projection are all more challenging than the actual skill set for learning how to do an event. I am not going to sugarcoat this. Two things need to go hand in hand. You can have the skill set to do an event, but if you don't know how to run a business, what's the point?” (36:47 | May Yeo Silvers) • “If you're a business owner, you should at least know the service execution part. You don't have to know everything, but you need to know at least overall what your company provides.” (37:43 | May Yeo Silvers) Links If you want to build your event planning skills, make sure you join my facebook group: Events4Anyone: A-Z guide to start and grow your event planning business https://www.facebook.com/groups/events4anyone Inside the Guides tab of the free private facebook group, you will see different modules on building your business to 6 figures and also event planning tutorials. A lot of people who would be exceptional recruiters don't do it because it feels like too much of a burden. The idea of building tens or even hundreds of relationships and nurturing them just feels like too much of a logistical nightmare. And it would be…which is why it's the wrong way to do it. If you had a recruiting strategy that was based in building community, it would be so much easier. A recruiting strategy based only on yourself is taxing and unsustainable. It's like inviting 100 people to dinner and having to make all the food yourself. If you had a community, it would be like having a potluck where everyone brought in a dish for everyone to enjoy. Instead of having one-on-one relationships, a community-focused approach leverages relationships and takes a huge burden off of you. This is how we were able to build a rev share group of 2400 people. It was about building a room people want to be a part of and allowing everyone to do their part to build and nurture those relationships. That will continue to pay off. What other misconceptions keep people from the wins of recruiting? How do we bring leverage to our recruiting? Today, I'm joined by Chris Bowers for an in-depth conversation on recruiting and the easiest way to recruit. Quotes Don't take advice from people who don't have the life you want. -Chris Bowers There are a few things that are absolutes in my life, everything else is negotiable. -Chris Bowers You can't make people change, but you can make them do something different. -Kevin Kauffman Guest Info Chris Bowers is a Realtor, Investor and owner of the Bowers Team, and the host of The agentXcel podcast. As a lifelong athlete and martial artist, Kyle understands the importance of strength, grit and overcoming adversity. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond! Quotes: “Don't be surprised when negativity ends up in your inbox or at your doorstep; you should expect it, work, and deal with the objections now before they come. Because when the objections come, you'll be more ready.” – Kyle Thompson “The easy path is a path that leads to a slovenly existence with an early death.” – Kyle Thompson “If you want God to speak to you, read the Bible. And if you want to hear His voice audibly, read the Bible out loud.” – Kyle Thompson Takeaways: Evaluate your church's "man-friendliness." Look for opportunities for men to serve, participate in worship, and be discipled as spiritual leaders. Make time each day to read Scripture, preferably out loud. Seek God through His word and listen for His voice with an open heart and mind. Consider ways to call boys up into manhood through intentional fatherhood, mentorship, experiences in nature, and rites of passage ceremonies. Prepare yourself to face objections and criticism for taking an unconventional approach. Have thoughtful responses ready before negativity arises. Look for small ways to serve your pastor and elders through volunteering, encouragement, and helping address issues facing men in the church. Conclusion: Leadership involves continuous personal growth, resilience, and empowerment. By equipping men with the tools to navigate challenges and foster growth, we can cultivate stronger leaders who positively impact their communities and beyond.
In unschooling, parenting is about fostering curiosity and self-directed learning rather than following a rigid curriculum. Education is seen as a natural part of life, where children learn through exploration, play, and real-life experiences rather than formal instruction. This approach to child development emphasizes independence, critical thinking, and creativity, allowing children to pursue their interests and develop at their own pace. Ana Martin believes that minimizing rules and trusting kids to follow their passions maximizes growth. Through her popular social media, she encourages parents to dismantle corruption by cultivating health, independence, and respecting sovereignty. By sharing her family's story, Ana inspires communities to support each other in raising the next generation of confident, compassionate critical thinkers. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond! Quotes: “Don't be comfortable. Comfortable is where liberty dies.” – Ana Martin “Make sure that the food you are eating is nutritious. Other than nutrition, try not to be too interested in food because that's where they hook you.” – Ana Martin “Read up on natural law and become the living expert on your own health and well-being, and on your children's. That's how we make the world freer.” – Ana Martin Takeaways: Pay close attention to your children's interests and passions and help them explore these fully without being too directive. Encourage physical activity, healthy nutrition, quality sleep, and time away from screens to support mental and physical well-being. Consider giving children more autonomy and freedom to make their own choices, even if they make mistakes. Discuss big ideas openly with children and help them think critically about different perspectives. Find small ways for children to be financially responsible for themselves through chores or part-time jobs. Conclusion: Giving children the freedom to explore their interests fosters independence and self-reliance, leading to better outcomes. Providing diverse experiences without imposing strict goals helps them discover their passions, while supportive and respectful parenting nurtures their growth and confidence.

Instead of avoiding or trying to cover the Silence by reaching for creature comforts today (idle chatter, unnecessary busyness, etc), reach for the Comforter in the Silence. Sit in the big Quiet and feel for the Love inside. Touching this place inside is the end of loneliness. It's the end of fear. It's the end of your perceived separation from God, from your Self. Reach for the Comforter, and smile, and then go about your Sunday in and AS Love. Let it ferment and season you as few human or even divine ingredients can. Something missing in my heart tonight has made my eyes so soft my voice so tender my need of God absolutely clear.” - Hafiz “Man ordinarily lives in loneliness. To avoid loneliness, he creates all kinds of relationships, friendships, organizations, political parties, religions and what not. But the basic thing is that he is very much afraid of being lonely. Loneliness is a black hole, a darkness, a frightening negative state almost like death … as if you are being swallowed by death itself. To avoid it, you run out and fall into anybody, just to hold somebody's hand, to feel that you are not lonely… Nothing hurts more than loneliness. But the trouble is, any relationship that arises out of the fear of being lonely is not going to be a blissful experience, because the other is also joining you out of fear. You both call it love. You are both deceiving yourself and the other. It is simply fear, and fear can never be the source of love. Only those who love are absolutely fearless; only those who love are able to be alone, joyously, whose need for the other has disappeared, who are sufficient unto themselves… The day you decide that all these efforts are failures, that your loneliness has remained untouched by all your efforts, that is a great moment of understanding. Then only one thing remains: to see whether loneliness is such a thing that you should be afraid of, or if it is just your nature. Then rather than running out and away, you close your eyes and go in. Suddenly the night is over, and a new dawn … The loneliness transforms into aloneness. Aloneness is your nature. You were born alone, you will die alone. And you are living alone without understanding it, without being fully aware of it. You misunderstand aloneness as loneliness; it is simply a misunderstanding. You are sufficient unto yourself.” ― Osho "Fear can be an indication that we are letting go of false comforts to find the true comfort in the silence. Fear can be a sign that we are becoming aware of our unnecessary busyness, the loneliness we feel, the needs we usually ignore, including our need for peace, and quiet. Fear emerge as our substitutes for the Love in the silence no longer work, and only silence is present." - Dr. Bruce Davis

When you're making body composition changes, it can feel like you need to cut everything you enjoy out of your diet. Things like sugar and alcohol might feel like they don't belong. That's not entirely true; you can still enjoy alcohol while making body composition changes. And sugar, especially natural sugar, can have its place, too, especially when it's combined with other foods correctly. If you choose to drink alcohol Find what you enjoy drinking Get snobby with your alcohol Eliminate excess sugar and carbohydrates Sugar and Body Composition Pure sugar will have a pungent glucose load right into your bloodstream. This directly impacts our Glycemic Index, and you will have more of an insulin response. Insulin prevents you from burning fat, and, in fact, it puts you into fat storage mode. Eating too much sugar can also put you into insulin resistance. Understanding the Glycemic Index and how sugar and carbohydrates impact your body and blood sugar is vitally important. The source of your sugar matters, too. Fructose or fruit sugar won't have as much of a glucose effect on your bloodstream, but the best way to eat it is to mix it with protein and fat. Alcohol and Body Composition Alcohol alone doesn't have a negative impact on your body composition changes. Especially when combined with lower calorie and lower sugar mixers, overall, there is not much of an impact on your daily requirements. So, alcohol does reduce our inhibitions, and when our inhibitions are lowered, we are more likely to make choices that don't align with our body composition goals. I recommend drinking four or fewer drinks per week when you're in a fat loss or maintenance mode to stay in line with the body composition changes you want to make. Where do alcohol and sugar fit into your lifestyle? Let me know in the comments on the episode page. In This Episode What happens when we eat sugar [4:30] How insulin resistance develops [5:00] What you need to know about the Glycemic Index [7:30] The differences between natural and artificial sugars [11:00] How much sugar to eat for optimal body composition change [14:45] The impact of alcohol on body composition [20:00] What happens to your body when you drink alcohol [24:15] Quotes “Don't let fruit be something that you're not eating because you think that it potentially will wreak havoc on your metabolic system.” [12:02] “The truth of it all is what feels good in your body. Because whatever feels good in your body is what you will sustain long-term. The key point here is that if you want to lose body fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit. If you don't want to lose any weight, you want to stay neutral, you need to be in a neutral deficit and eat for maintenance. If you're looking to actually gain muscle mass, you're going to eat in a surplus.” [17:47] “Alcohol, in general, sets our brain up to want to continue on the pathway to indulge more.” [21:44] “What I want you to stop doing is saying no to things that you would like to have and get snobby with those things.” [23:56] “Four drinks or less per week will keep you in a zone where you will still be able to efficiently lose body fat, for most people.” [25:49] Resources Mentioned Learn About the Fit Dad Collective Join Transform Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram | YouTube Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 147: Alcohol and Optimal Weight Loss Episode 153: Lose Stress Not Carbs Episode 161: Barriers To Optimal Body Composition

Customers are the lifeblood of your business, and without them, it would cease to exist. To ensure success, companies must create an environment where customers feel valued and appreciated through excellent customer service, high-quality products and services, or attractive promotions. Entrepreneurs often make the mistake of prejudging their customers' needs based on appearance or age. This can lead to misunderstandings and missed opportunities. The best way to identify customer needs is to ask them directly and avoid assumptions. Customer physical appearance should not be taken as a reliable indicator when making decisions about what they need from your business. In this episode of Come Rain or Shine, Jamie Dixon, storyteller extraordinaire, joins the show to discuss storytelling and drawing inspiration from cross-cultural experiences. As a coach, trainer, and author of three books, Jaime has worked with over 150 companies over the past decade educating business leaders in English, Mandarin, and storytelling. Having spent 15 years living in China, Jamie also unpacks the influence of Chinese culture on psychology, philosophy, and mental frameworks. One of these frameworks, Relate, Challenge, and Resolve, is not only a metaphor for how the mind works but a technique that helps shape good stories. Other methods include Show Don't Tell, Analogies and Metaphors, and Contrast. As Jamie explains, these practices are necessary for simplifying complex narratives and making relatable tropes memorable; however, like any process, the timing of implement is essential.
