Gospel Daily with Josh Weidmann From Crowds to Christ: A Journey from Getting to Giving, Part 2 Series: Unveiled Scripture: Mark 1:21–45 Episode: 1411 If any of these questions resonate, this sermon speaks directly to you: Am I following Jesus for what He gives me—or because He's worthy? What would change if I moved from getting to giving? If Jesus asked me to lay down the comfort I cling to most, would I still call Him good? What would happen this week if my prayers shifted from “Lord, I need…” to “Lord, You are…”? Bible Passage Summary: In Mark 1:21–45, Jesus begins His public ministry with authority, teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum, where people are amazed by His words. He then casts out an unclean spirit, demonstrating His power over demons. News spreads quickly, and Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law along with many others who are sick or oppressed. Despite the crowds, Jesus rises early to pray in solitude, showing the importance of communion with the Father. As He travels to other towns to preach, He is approached by a man with leprosy, who begs to be healed. Moved with compassion, Jesus touches him and heals him, instructing him to tell no one. However, the man spreads the news, and Jesus becomes so sought after that He must stay in remote places. Key themes include Jesus' authority over evil, healing power, compassion for the outcast, and the priority of prayer and preaching.

Light on the Hill on Oneplace.com

We come to what is a difficult subject for some, and a sore subject for others. Giving! While we realize many have been wrongly taken advantage of, even in church settings, we don't want to dismiss what God has to say about it. But rather just faithfully deliver His Word to you. As you'll see, you'll be blessed if you go along with God's will for you in this area. We're in Second Corinthians chapter nine. Light on the Hill on Oneplace.com

Here on Light on the Hill we're going to delve into the subject of giving. How much should we give, is just one among many questions pastor James Kaddis will seek to answer biblically. And we'll underscore along the way, we simply can't out-give the Lord. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1459/29

Using this instruction, Elder Bryce teaches principles of New Testament giving. Paul links giving to worship. He says that it is the responsibility of every member. The amount we should give is a matter of faith between the individual and the Lord. And finally, organizations such as mission societies are not needed to fulfill their obligations. What if God were to give you a gift wrapped in brown paper? We're not just adopted into the divine family; we've been given a gift for blessing others. And let's just admit it: we all want the spectacular gifts. The Corinthians wanted the flashy gifts, the Romans were tempted toward envy or pride because of how God had gifted them. But it stands to reason that most of our gifts will be ordinary. Functional, not flashy. Are we OK with that? Are we mutilating the Body of Christ? Here in the land of "rugged individualism" we live our lives disconnected. We're often separated from kin and community by geography and economics. Now technology can connect us, but often isolates us even more. We were not meant to live our Christian lives this way. We were baptized into something: into the church. In it, we don't lose our individuality; we find ourselves. Send us a textWe, those of us who will inherit salvation, all have ministering angels assigned to us. But again, we must never take this honor and blessing for granted or think for one instant that these angels are there for our own selfish indulgence, entertainment and satisfaction. We cannot buy or pay for an angel of God. Angels are not under our directions to be sent for or sent to the locations that we desire. I promise you, we cannot call angels from Africa or anywhere else. I have often wondered and asked myself if it is a possibility that when Paula White Cain called for angels from Africa that she got a demon instead in the personification of Elon Musk? Never do I see or have I read where an angel asked a human for directions or took orders from them. Send us a textEvery angel created by God has been created for a purpose and that is to do His bidding. As stated before, sometimes it was to protect, bring messages or even open prison doors. But please be aware that there were also occasions when angels appeared where God was destroying and chastising. Remember when Balaam's donkey spoke? It was because he saw the angel waiting to strike his master so he stopped and wouldn't go forth. When Balaam began to beat his donkey the animal spoke. Also let's remember Revelations and what many of the angels will be doing during the time of the Great Tribulation. Therefore depending on our lifestyles we could easily have an angel that's been assigned to us as ministering spirits sent to benefit us or as one sent to chastise which, although it may not feel like it, that would also be to our benefit. Remember, those whom He loves He chastises and every painful or negative thing that occurs in our lives is not always a demon from the enemy. Believe me, there are many times that people have been rebuking demons but will find out in the judgment that it was actually an angel sent by God to chastise.  You want an angel? Pause and think about what you just read and then listen to the podcast for this week. Support the show

Send us a textI have prayed and will continue praying for those who have given me throughout the years. However, last week God began to minister to my spirit that many of you have done for me what Cornelius in Acts 10 did for the poor and needy. Throughout the years with my sons, grandchildren and even now as I'm in my golden years there are those who continually give to me because God, not me, makes them aware of my needs or just lays it on their hearts to give to me and this ministry. I have never, ever had to beg or ask. For each of you who have poured out into my life, into the lives of my children and even my grandchildren as I raised them, I pray that your prayers and giving to the poor will always be remembered by God. I pray that He will bless you, keep you, watch over you and provide you with divine health, joy, peace and prosperity. For those who have given not only to me but to others who are in need may your prayers and giving be remembered by God as He remembered the prayers and giving of Cornelius. May your prayers be heard and answered, immediately, suddenly and without hesitation. May your prayers always line up with the word and will of our Father so that He may be glorified and that He will unhesitantly bless you and your families all the days of your lives. May the answers to your petitions be met and given according to Ephesians 3:20 in the Amplified Version; Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, I ask this on your behalf of our Father God in the name of His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. This Week on The Heart of Giving - Part 1: Aspen Institute President and Former Franklin & Marshall College President Dan Porterfield joins Art Taylor to discuss his book "Mindset Matters," exploring how colleges can nurture talent and growth mindsets in students from all backgrounds. Joined by F&M alum Robert Diggs, they dive into the transformative power of higher education. Three illuminating moments: "I view the best form of education as the one that helps the one and the many, that unlocks talent and sees talent in every corner and community. And that by investing in young people, whether financial aid or just as important in their learning and their formation, we make a better world." - Dan Porterfield "We were willing to shake it up a bit and try out some even more particular qualities of talent - curiosity, resilience, saying yes to opportunity, and having a vision of the value of education. These qualities are equally represented across America." - Dan on redefining talent identification "Not that the actual education part wasn't important, but it was the learning that happened around the education piece... It was really the third space or fifth space, being asked to step into co-leading the development of the college house ethos. All of that tracks back to how F&M goes about enriching the mind of young people." - Robert Diggs Don't miss next week's conclusion where we meet Markera Jones, whose journey from Coatesville, Pennsylvania to clinical psychologist exemplifies the power of opportunity and growth mindset in action. Last week, Ben Erwin of Charity Buzz shared how his organization has created a marketplace for unique experiences that benefits nonprofits of all sizes. By connecting celebrities, business leaders, and exclusive opportunities with affluent donors, they've generated over half a billion dollars for charitable causes. If you missed it, it's a fascinating look at innovative fundraising approaches that expand "the giving pie."

The passage provides direct, clear and powerful information showing that "giving" is really "investing" into the Kingdom of Heaven; making it the wisest, safest, most permanent and beneficial thing any of us can do with the wealth God has (temporarily) given us. The grace of giving can be received simply through faith in these very clear Words from God.
