Welcome to the 14th episode of Beyond the Screen, a podcast that aims to spark discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization and artificial intelligence space. TeraRecon has been making waves in the industry these past couple months. Most recently, we took on a brand refresh with a new logo, color scheme, and website. We also introduced our parent company, SymphonyAI's Eureka Brand to our AI products, now known as the Eureka Clinical AI Platform and the Eureka AI Results Explorer. This has been a mammoth project and we are so proud to finally share it with you. TeraRecon would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare professionals and members around the world who are working tirelessly to help their patients and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the pandemic has been affecting everyone around the globe, our customers have asked us to help them better assess and care for patients. In this week’s episode, we will focus on these new tools that have been developed to help aid in the clinical assessment of COVID-19 and tracking of the disease progression. Rebecca McDade, TeraRecon’s Senior Director of Clinical Support will walk us through Intuition’s Lung Density Analysis Workflow and our Emergency AI Lung Suite available for not only COVID-19 diagnosis but various diseases of the lung. Tune in as we discover the key features our workflows bring to our frontline healthcare workers. In this week’s episode, you will learn about: TeraRecon’s FDA cleared, Lung Density Analysis II workflow and the unique tools enhanced segmentation engine specifically designed to include high-density areas of the lung. The emerging stroke conditions in COVID-19 and the tools we have in place and are developing to help clinical diagnosis and tracking of brain conditions. Our approach to AI and goal of allowing the physician to interact with AI results thus making their lives faster, easier, and better. As this pandemic continues to develop, there are certainly more long-term symptoms that we will be watching for. Stroke is only the latest in a long string of new information. As we monitor the world's health, we'll continue to work to provide the tools necessary for clinicians to quickly and effectively diagnose patients. TeraRecon has always been an industry standard name, and as we move into this new era where things seem uncertain, you can count on TeraRecon to continue to innovate ahead of market demand and develop the tools that save lives. If you are in the United States, there are financial resources available to the industry in the form of the CARES Act. The FCC has unveiled a new $200 million program to help fund telehealth programs for qualifying providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Download our quick guide to see what you will need to apply. Based on our discussion in this episode I need to make a few disclaimers. First, Eureka NeuroAI is pending 510k clearance and is currently not for diagnostic use. Second the TeraRecon products being discussed in this podcast are not FDA cleared specifically for COVID-19 assessment. We’ve already made a public statement about this for a complete list of applicable restrictions please head to our website https://www.terarecon.com Have a question about today’s episode or want to join the discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space? Welcome to the 13th episode of Beyond the Screen, a podcast that aims to spark discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space. In the last episode of Beyond the Screen, we spoke with Daniel Mollura who founded the nonprofit RAD-AID International whose efforts are focused on bringing health institutions around the world into a state where they can deploy and manage radiology departments. For every one of these places they bring up to speed with radiology, they're helping to save hundreds or thousands of lives. This week, we learn the details of how this organization is making that all possible. Dan will explain how low-resource countries are able to store and manage data through a hybrid solution called the RAD-AID Friendship System. This approach offers a local onsite server plus cloud backup through the Google Cloud Platform, and partners Ambra Health and Tribalco. This turnkey and low footprint cloud structure can operate well without needing all that extra and costly infrastructure that a hospital would need to have to invest.Dan mentions that the amazing process of digitally transforming a hospital is just the beginning. Once clinical education and infrastructure are put in place, the adoption of AI becomes a real possibility. RAD-AID introduces AI into their programs as an educational component through vendor-neutral frameworks to show what AI looks like and how to interact with it.Radiology is doing a great job when it comes to looking at these new technologies and adopting them into how we think about patient care. This pathway is a way of getting people to think about AI in this new era of technology and the impact it can have on these low-resource regions and medically underserved communities. You can learn more about RAD-AID and its volunteer program here.Have a question about today’s episode or want to join the discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space? Happy New Year and welcome to the tenth episode of Beyond the Screen, a podcast that aims to spark discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space. In the past, we’ve discussed the pressure radiologists face as the number of unprocessed medical images keep skyrocketing. In this week’s episode, we meet up with 2019 AuntMinnie winners, Tom Valent of Aidoc and Mitul Shah from CureMetrix to discuss how their companies are trying to alleviate that pressure with AI. Our first guest is Tom Valent, VP of Business Development at Aidoc – AuntMinnie’s 2019 Best New Radiology Software. This leading AI company has developed an “always on” solution that automatically analyzes every relevant exam in the background without the technologist or radiologist needing to do anything. Once a critical finding is detected in a study, it will automatically flag the case, enabling the radiologist to read it earlier and to expedite patient care with higher quality. CureMetrix won AuntMinnie’s Best New Radiology Vendor of 2019. A company whose algorithms represent true AI-based CAD and provide radiologists with a 30% faster image read to improve workflow efficiency and patient care. Mitul Shah, VP of Business Development and Product Management discusses how they are reducing false positives by 69% over traditional CAD and helping radiologists improve their early cancer detection rates by 27%. You’ll learn about: Aidoc and their “always on” pulmonary embolism algorithm along with what products are to come in 2020. CureMetrix’s AI-based CAD and their triage tool for breast screening mammography, which is the first of its kind in the market. Challenges AI companies face when releasing a product to market. The impact these technologies have on patients. The positive impact AI is having on radiologists and the practice. Welcome to the ninth episode of Beyond the Screen, a podcast that aims to spark discussion about cutting-edge and innovative technologies in the advanced visualization space. On the last episode, our discussion focused on issues and opportunities surrounding the current state of AI applications with Dr. Eliot Siegel, a renowned physician advocate for medical imaging AI and Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland, and Jeff Sorenson, CEO of AI technology leader TeraRecon and EnvoyAI. This week, the topic of AI continues as it will at RSNA19 coming up December 1-6 in Chicago, IL. As preparations for showcases, product announcements, and software updates kicks into high gear, we can begin to speculate as to what kinds of technology will emerge from this year’s conference. To get an insiders perspective, we reached out to Jordan Engber from Cohesic where they are trying to overcome the challenges that come with implementing AI in a clinical workflow. This year at RSNA, the hype of new algorithms and workflow implementations will be met with questions regarding the algorithm’s sustainability, accountability, and capability to overcome bias. Questions industry partners and healthcare leaders should consider for this year’s RSNA Conference: How exactly are AI companies continually training their algorithms? What assurances are being made to those buying the software? What happens to an algorithm when there is a high influx of data? How do you handle biased algorithms? How can we implement AI into our own clinical workflow? Catch the TeraRecon team during RSNA19 at booth 8313 to discover our iNtuition software, which holds #1 market share for radiology and cardiology 3D. Also, when visiting the AI Showcase, be sure to stop by the EnvoyAI booth #10710 to learn how industry leaders and health systems are implementing a single AI platform into their imaging strategy.
