Preached at the 2026 Christian Baptist Camp Meeting, Joe Nelson speaks about Christ: the Holy One, and what we do in response to His holiness.

What would happen if Jesus Christ stood at the front door of our church? Would we gladly welcome Him, or keep Him at a distance? In Colossians 3:15–17, Paul calls the church to throw open the doors and let Christ take His rightful place at the center of our life together. As Christ rules among us, His peace governs our relationships, His Word fills our conversations and worship, His authority shapes everything we say and do, and thankfulness overflows from our hearts. This message challenges us to examine whether Christ truly occupies the most prominent place in our church and reminds us that the happiest, healthiest church is the one where Christ is welcomed to rule and reign.

In Colossians 3:12–14, we are reminded that our new identity in Christ calls for a new way of living. As God's chosen, holy, and beloved people, we are to clothe ourselves each day with the character of Christ—compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. These gospel virtues are not merely attitudes but essential garments that enable us to bear with one another, forgive one another, and live together in genuine Christian community. Above them all, we are to put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. The unity of the church is not produced by personalities or preferences but by believers daily putting on Christ and displaying His character toward one another.

The sermon identifies the devil as a roaring lion and active adversary who seeks to devour believers through accusation, intimidation, and division. Drawing on biblical examples such as Job, Peter, and Nehemiah, it illustrates that Satan employs recycled tactics like doubt, distraction, and false accusations to discourage God's people. The text emphasizes that while the devil is powerful, he operates within limits and cannot act outside God's sovereign permission. Believers are urged to remain sober, vigilant, and steadfast in faith, recognizing that they are not alone in their struggles. The central call is to resist the devil by putting on spiritual armor and standing firm against his schemes rather than yielding to fear or despair.

This sermon uses the biblical account of Solomon observing a neglected field to illustrate the spiritual dangers of laziness and procrastination. The preacher argues that slothfulness leads to the overgrowth of sin, represented by thorns and nettles, and the breakdown of spiritual defenses, symbolized by a broken stone wall. Emphasizing personal responsibility, the text warns that neglecting daily disciplines like prayer and scripture reading results in inevitable spiritual poverty and loss of fruitfulness. The message calls believers to maintain vigilance against the devil's encroachments and to cultivate a consistent work ethic in their faith. Ultimately, it urges the audience to actively tend their spiritual lives to avoid the consequences of indifference.

The sermon explores the divine order and numerical patterns embedded within the King James Bible, arguing that God structured Scripture to reveal spiritual truths. The speaker draws parallels between the physical structure of DNA and the arrangement of the Gospels, emphasizing that the number four symbolizes the gospel message. Key biblical events, such as creation, the flood, and salvation history, are analyzed through this numerical lens to demonstrate consistency in God's plan. The teaching warns against false gospels and moral relativism, urging believers to stand firm on the authority of Scripture. Ultimately, the message affirms that understanding these patterns brings clarity to faith and highlights the centrality of Christ as the light of the world.

Jesus Christ has positioned Himself to be the center of every believer's heart.

It critiques modern culture and secular churches for redefining sin and promoting self-esteem instead of biblical holiness and repentance. The speaker emphasizes that Jesus Christ died on the cross to atone for this serious condition of sin, offering forgiveness only through genuine repentance and faith. A call is made to reject false doctrines of unconditional acceptance and to embrace the transformative power of a new heart given by God. Ultimately, the message presents a stark choice between surrendering to Christ as Savior now or facing Him as Judge at His return.
