In this conversation, I talk about what it feels like to hit rejection and closed doors in your creative work, and why that moment is not a verdict on who you are. I share how easy it is to spiral after a no, a ghost, a decline, or a door that just will not open, and I reframe it like this: a closed door is information. It is feedback. It is not identity. It is not proof that you are behind, unqualified, or "not called." We also walk through how to interpret closed doors through a Kingdom lens. Sometimes a closed door is protection. Sometimes it is redirection. Sometimes it is simply timing. And instead of forcing what is not opening, I encourage you to slow down and discern. I give practical next steps for navigating rejection without collapsing into it, including trusting God's timing, using peace as a guide, and doing fruit tests to confirm whether a path is producing what it should. The goal is not to pretend rejection does not hurt. The goal is to keep your footing, stay faithful, and keep moving with wisdom. Have you ever wondered what God can do with closed doors and detours? As we look back over the past 30 years, Pastor Mark reveals how unexpected challenges—from a blizzard-canceled launch to sudden theater closures—became divine stepping stones to immeasurably more. Drawing from Revelation 3:7-8, he shares how God transformed setbacks into setups, ultimately leading to a city block campus, the Miracle Theater, and bold new visions including an urban sportsplex. Whether you're facing roadblocks or dreaming bigger, this message illuminates how God uses life's interruptions to orchestrate His perfect plan. Don't miss this powerful testimony of faith, persistence, and divine timing! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Sermon preached to Stafford Baptist Church on Sunday, January 4th by Kelton Zacharias.
Mark 6 takes us to Nazareth where Jesus is amazed, but not in a good way. Jesus teaches his disciples and us to depend on him, not on the security we find in the world. Finally, we'll look at Herod's foolish promise that cost John the Baptist his life.Look for additional resources, including PDFs for discussion and additional study, on Amberalbeeswenson.org.

Our relationship with Jesus isn't a secret to be hoarded; it is a story to be heralded! The disciples were seated behind closed doors (sounds like a lot of churches). Jesus wanted them out, giving away what they had been given. Let's see how these early followers went from panic to peace, from perplexity to purpose, and from protection to power. It's a great journey. Are you up for it?
So many of us have walked through unexpected seasons of grief and loss. When those seasons hit, it feels impossible to know how to put one foot in front of the other or we don't know how to best support our friends through it. Today we answer, “What do I do when my season suddenly shifts?” Kate and I met a couple of months ago when I was on the road for a speaking event. She has walked through the tragic death of her adult son and has SO generously agreed to share with us what she wished someone had shared with her when that pain was fresh. Whether you've dealt with a similar situation or you're close to someone who has, I encourage you to lean in to the perspective and encouragement Kate shares with us about what it looks like to honor and grieve and keep living and keep loving even when we don't think we have it in us. If you're following along in your TSF Seasons Guidebook, we're on page 92 (*we moved this date*). The guidebook is available for you at anniefdowns.com/seasons. Tuesday August 26, 2025XI Week after PentecostIn today's episode, we see how God's purposes move forward—even in the midst of power struggles, unexpected detours, and moments of deep need. In 2 Samuel 3:6-21, political maneuvering threatens to derail David's rise, yet God's plan presses on. In Acts 16:6-15, Paul and his companions are redirected by the Spirit, leading them to Lydia—a woman whose open heart sparks a gospel breakthrough in Europe. And in Mark 6:30-46, Jesus meets weary disciples and hungry crowds with compassion, reminding us that He alone is our true source of rest and provision.✨ Join us as we explore how God #guides , #provides and #sustains —even when the road ahead looks uncertain.
These verses encourage us to walk in step with the Spirit. He sometimes leads us in ways we may not understand but if we follow Him we will see Him accomplish His purpose and will in and through our lives. By Dave Bartlett

Closed Doors and Greater Plans | The Book of Acts
“Closed Doors (Acts 16:6–10)” Ever had a dream die? A plan crumble? A door slam shut right on your fingers while you were trying to pry it open in Jesus' name? Yeah. Us too. Paul had the Spirit of Jesus tell him “Nope” (twice!) before finally getting a vision to head somewhere he hadn't even planned. Turns out God is better at Google Maps than we are. This message is for anyone who's ever been frustrated by redirection and divine silence. Spoiler: Closed doors might be the best thing that ever happened to you. A few years ago, Twitter Beach was one of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity places to be. Nowadays, the beach and Twitter execs are harder to find. Instead of the flashy fireside chats and branded lounges, X's execs are found behind closed doors, quietly courting marketers and media buyers against a backdrop of lawsuits, Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM)'s disbanding and political crosshairs. It's a clear sign that the platform's role in the ad ecosystem– and culture overall–has dramatically shifted. In this episode of the podcast, platforms reporter Krystal Scanlon joins host Kimeko McCoy about Twitter, now X, and what its retreat from the Cannes beachfront says about its relationship with advertisers, as well as TikTok's head in the sand mentality around the ban.
Today on the show, we're answering the question, “How do I change seasons well?" If you've been around here for a while you know Craig Thompson (or CRAIGLES or the prince as we called him around the office). He used to be part of our media team here at AFD, Inc. but last fall he and his wife, Hannah, moved to Indiana. SOO many of you talk to me about deciding whether or not to move or figuring out what to do if a season is changing and I think you're going to love this conversation with Craig. We're going to talk about transitioning from “a good season to a good season”...what it looked like for Craig and Hannah to decide to move…making decisions as a single person vs a couple…and then we're going to talk about some advice if you're starting to feel the inkling of a season change. When God opens a door, He almost always opens the heart of someone on the other side. The Apostle Paul was no stranger to this truth. God opened doors for him in ministry all the time, and almost without exception, Paul walked through them and helped lead someone to faith in Christ. Coming up next, a wonderful story of faith and redemption from Ron's teaching series, “Paul: Surprised by Grace.”
When God closes a door, He doesn't always open a window. Sometimes He opens a better door. There may not be a better illustration of how God opens some doors and closes others than Paul's second missionary journey. Plenty of practical lessons for us to learn during this season of Paul's life, including some of the ways we can know and discern God's will for our lives. Stay with us now as Ron moves forward in his teaching series, “Paul: Surprised by Grace.”
Ambassador Ron Kirk, former Mayor of Dallas and US Trade Representative
In this powerful lecture, we share the four essential keys to help overcome life's challenges and unlock closed doors.
There are often doors we try to open but God closes, but when God opens a door nobody can shut it. Pastor Larry Lucas, who is the newly installed pastor at Bethel Reformed Methodist in Covington Louisian, joins the podcast to talk about his journey with open and closed doors.

In this powerful episode, we explore the emotional and often unseen journey of a mother's love. Sheryl Marazzo is a force of nature—fierce, steady, and filled with a bright hope. Living a life woven with heartbreak and tragedy, her resilience and sheer will drove her to find happiness and peace right alongside the unimaginable. As a mom to three children—one living with a rare disease, one a rare disease carrier, and one battling addiction—she brings honesty, humor, and deep heart to a conversation about survival, sacrifice, and the unexpected ways we figure out how to keep going. A long-time advocate and nonprofit founder, Sheryl's story is framed by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, but beyond labels and medical conditions, hers is simply a story about being fully human.
