What happens when you add one extra rule to a rope scene? In this episode, Fox and Mya discuss a type of rope game they call stipulations: additional restrictions or conditions that change how a scene works. A top might be forbidden from using their left hand, for example, or the partners might agree on another rule that disrupts their usual way of tying. The fun comes from discovering what that restriction changes. A familiar tie may suddenly require more communication. The top may need to abandon their usual sequence and improvise, while the bottom may become more actively involved through balance, movement, problem-solving or verbal guidance. Fox and Mya explore: • Different kinds of stipulations you could add to a rope scene—including one particularly spicy option • How restrictions can encourage creativity, communication and collaboration • The unexpected ways a familiar tie can change • How stipulations may alter the bottom's role in the scene • Risks and safety considerations to think about before beginning • When a restriction should be changed or abandoned • The difference between collaborative and competitive rope games • How to keep competition playful without allowing it to override consent or safety Stipulations can turn even simple rope into an experiment, a puzzle or a shared challenge. Getting sober is a huge step, but it doesn't automatically fix everything that happened in the relationship while the addiction was active. The alcohol or drugs may be gone, but resentment, hurt, mistrust, and feelings of unfairness can stick around. In this episode, we're talking about the resentment that nobody really talks about in recovery. The person in recovery may be wondering, “I changed, so why am I still being treated like the problem?” while their partner or family is thinking, “After everything we went through, how are you angry at me?” We'll look at the emotional ledger both sides may still be carrying and why something seemingly small, like a wine glass, a late arrival, a question, or even a comment, can trigger such a big reaction. Sometimes the argument happening today isn't actually about today at all. We'll also break down the difference between a craving trigger and triggers connected to resentment, trust, threat, or identity, and why couples can get stuck trying to prove whose version of the past is right. The goal isn't to pretend the past didn't happen. It's to understand what these reactions actually mean so the relationship can stop revolving around who each person was during the addiction. Les Bechdel is a river runner, an outfitter, an author of the first comprehensive book on modern river rescue techniques, a kayaker, a husband, a catarafter, a father, a river ranger, a grandfather, an instructor, and a soldier. In the 1980s, river rescue became a more organized and developed concept and practice, and Les Bechdel was at the center of that movement. In 1985, the first edition of the book "RIVER RESCUE" was published with Les and Slim Ray as the authors. The book is now in its 4th edition. Les was selling kayaks during the transition from fiberglass to plastic. Eventually, he moved to Idaho from North Carolina with his family and started a river outfitting company in the Salmon River system that is still thriving today.
