22-year-old Zion crusher Connor Baty on first ascents, rope soloing the Triple Wall in 12 hours, and why he climbs without sponsors. Kora FA, Towers of the Virgin, and living the unsponsored dream.Today's guest is 22-year-old silent crusher from Zion, Connor Baty. Connor has been climbing since he was 8 years old, with key early development as a trad climber at Garden of the Gods in Colorado—a notoriously chossy area with soft, loose sandstone. Since then he quickly progressed through the grades, leveling out around the 5.13 range. He then took that knowledge and merged it with his true passion: adventure. Connor has been quietly building a reputation as a cutting-edge first ascensionist and endurance linkup climber. Connor was the partner to our previous guest James Barrow for the Complete Tower of the Virgin Traverse. They also established a new 5.12+ multipitch route in Zion, called Kora. Connor has climbed Time Wave Zero down in Potrero car to car in 5 hours and most recently he's claimed the rope solo speed record of the Zion Triple Wall—linking Touchstone, Moonlight Buttress, and Prodigal Son in a blistering 12 hours. Needless to say Connor is a crusher. He could easily seek out sponsorships at the level he is climbing. But as we learn in our conversation, Connor has zero interest in self-promotion. For him it's all about personal progress, adventure, and living the life he has now to the fullest. He even has groundbreaking pursuits outside of climbing and is currently attempting to navigate the Colorado River from source to sea. What I found most interesting about our conversation is how well-spoken, composed, and level-headed Connor is as a human and a climber. Back when I was 22 I could not say the same thing about myself. I really felt the stoke and energy from Connor in our conversation and I'm happy to be sharing it with you now.Watch the full episode on Youtube---Thanks to our sponsors!LIVSN DesignsCheckout their Ecotrek Trail Pants HereUse Code "TCM15" At Checkout for an extra 15% OFF Your OrderHot Chillys Performance Base LayersCheckout their Micro Elite Chamois Base Layer Systems HereUse Code "TCM15" At Checkout for 15% OFF Your OrderGet Access to Exclusive Episodes, Unlock Ad-Free Podcast, & MORE!---ResourcesConor's IG

The air is tight with silence, the court of Yosef unmoving, and then Yehuda steps forward. That one act—crossing an invisible line of protocol—opens a masterclass on courage, responsibility, and the kind of reasoning that can thaw a heart guarded by power. We trace the moment Binyamin's fate hangs by a thread and watch how Yehuda weaves threads into a rope: memory, duty, empathy, and personal guarantee, each linked to the next until justice can breathe. We walk you through the Midrash on “deep waters are counsel in the heart of man,” turning a vivid parable into a practical tool. Imagine a well of ice-cold water no hand can reach; now imagine building a rope, thread by thread, until the bucket touches what lies beneath. That's the framework here—rope-to-rope reasoning—steady, disciplined, and exact. We explore how this method shows up in Yehuda's speech and why it works: it respects truth, invites empathy, and keeps going until the right argument lands. The Malbim adds dimension by distinguishing knowledge you're taught from insight you derive. We connect that to real scenarios—improving prayer and focus, making a case in court, navigating a tough real estate market—showing how to ask better questions, follow causes upstream, and iterate without ego. The takeaway is as simple as it is demanding: don't quit before the well. If the first approach fails, add another rope. Adjust with humility, test with clarity, and keep your hands steady until the bucket rises with something cold, clear, and unmistakably true.If this resonated, subscribe, share the episode with someone who's one step from a breakthrough, and leave a review telling us the next “rope” you'll tie.Support the showJoin The Motivation Congregation WhatsApp community for daily motivational Torah content!------------------Check out our other Torah Podcasts and content! In this episode of Inside the Rope, host David Clark sits down with Sam Reynolds, CEO of Octopus Investments Australia, to unpack one of the most critical and investable themes of our time: the global energy transition. As energy costs rise and the pathway to net zero becomes increasingly complex, Sam offers a grounded, data-driven perspective on how capital can be deployed responsibly without compromising on returns. We explore how institutional-grade renewable and energy-transition assets are delivering attractive double-digit returns, why the sector has historically been dominated by large institutions, and what's now changing for wholesale investors. The conversation spans global energy supply dynamics, political and regulatory uncertainty, and the real-world implications for investors seeking long-term, sustainable outcomes. Sam also shares how Octopus approaches asset selection, risk management, and portfolio construction in a space where sustainability and infrastructure intersect. For investors interested in future-proofing portfolios, aligning capital with decarbonisation, and understanding where genuine opportunity exists, this is a timely discussion with one of the leading minds in energy-transition investing.

Today it's the first in our series of live episodes recorded at the Regent Street Cinema in London: David talks to the crime writers Nicci Gerrard and Sean French (aka Nicci French) about Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (1948), based on Patrick Hamilton's play of the same name, itself based on the real-life case of Leopold and Loeb. What is the true subject of this film: murder, sex, morality or something else? Why is James Stewart so hopelessly miscast? And how does all this connect to Nietzsche? It's that time of year again — one of our favourite (and most popular!) episodes: where our wonderful guests from throughout 2025 share one of their favourite rope scenes. This year's stories span the full spectrum of rope — from performance to photoshoot, labbing to play — and show just how beautifully blurred those boundaries can be. Expect moments of connection, creativity, and curiosity in every description. In this episode, you'll hear from: • Lee Harrington, who enacts a deep desire for self-suspension in nature, in harmony with the elements • Claire, who dives into rope science and geeky joy during a rope bottom lab session • KinkNamePending, whose performance teeters on the line between scene and spectacle • petite Pretzel, who shares a ‘sticky' memory of a photoshoot Whether you're drawn to the technical, the emotional, or the artistic sides of rope, this episode offers inspiration for every listener.
Today's episode explores the trials of Nelson Mandela, variously charged by South Africa's apartheid state with treason, incitement, illegal foreign travel, sabotage and conspiracy across a decade that saw him more often in court than out. How did Mandela defend himself? What changed from his first trial to his last? Could any justice be found in a system of blatant oppression? And what happens when the line between lawyer, defendant and prisoner becomes impossibly blurred? The final film in our season at the Regent Street Cinema in London is coming up on Friday 19th December: a screening of David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method followed by a live recording of PPF with writer, psychoanalyst and feminist Susie Orbach. In this special edition of Inside the Rope, host David Clark brings listeners into a raw, deeply personal roundtable with three exceptional founders who have stood at one of the most defining crossroads in wealth: the liquidity event. Moments where years, sometimes decades, of sacrifice, risk, and relentless effort crystallise into life-changing capital. Featuring: Julie Mathers, founder of Flora & Fauna, who built Australia's largest ethical retail platform from scratch before selling to a public company — only to dive straight back in with a new venture. Julie brings honesty, humility and practical wisdom about identity, values, and the emotional aftershocks of selling a business. Nick Cloete, founder of Kounta, the category-leading hospitality software platform acquired by Lightspeed. Nick reflects on the entrepreneurial addiction to momentum, recalibrating risk once money becomes real, and the power of trusted relationships during the transition. Scott Nowell, co-founder of The Monkeys, one of Australia's most awarded creative agencies, later acquired by Accenture. Scott opens up about purpose, identity loss, burnout, and the complexity of navigating an earn-out while redefining who you are outside your business. Alongside them is Sean Abbott, Partner at Koda Capital and one of Australia's most respected advisers. Sean shares insights from a decade of research, five white papers, and more than 45 conversations with entrepreneurs about the unexpected challenges that follow a major exit - from managing family dynamics to recalibrating risk, rebuilding purpose, and finding the right advisers when you suddenly become a target for everyone's attention. What This Episode Covers * How founders really feel when the money lands - excitement, relief, fear, and everything in between. * Why “don't rush” may be the best advice any founder can receive. * The psychological whiplash of going from high-risk operator to conservative investor. * How wealth can splinter families…and how intentional planning prevents it. * Navigating friendship breakdowns, opportunistic requests and public deal announcements. * Why identity, not money, is often the hardest part of exiting a business. * The power of trusted advice, and why founders need a personal board of directors just as much as a corporate one. * The role of partners and families in the journey and why their support is often the invisible foundation of every successful exit. This is an unfiltered, emotional, and remarkably generous conversation. A must-listen for business owners, founders, advisers, and anyone preparing for their own event. A rare look behind the curtain of what wealth really means when it arrives all at once.
Things you could only see in sci-fi movies before are now more than real. Slip the Moonwalkers on and you will walk two hundred and fifty percent faster than everyone else. Iron Man–style jetpack runs on five turbojet engines, and puts out over a thousand horsepower. And then, there's the WOWCube, a mind-bending invention where every panel is a tiny interactive screen. Twist it, tap it, and suddenly you're playing games like Cut the Rope, Pipes, or even 2048 — only this time, characters and objects move across different screens as if the whole cube is alive. And when you're done with games and work? Flip it into a calming aquarium to help you relax. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A union member since 1996, she's been the International President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO since 2014. You may remember her integral role in threatening a strike, which helped pressure the Trump administration to end the 2019 government shutdown. But under the second Trump term, the administration plans to gut many government agencies and has canceled one million contracts for federal workers so far. “We have to understand that if one group is under attack, we're next,” she tells Laura Flanders in this exclusive interview. “So we have to rush to each other's sides.” In this episode, Nelson and Flanders explore labor movement tactics and strategies, wins and losses, and why general strikes and cross-industry worker solidarity are critical in this moment. What is her message and her mission for 2025? All that, plus a commentary from Laura on floods and profits.“We have to understand that if one group is under attack, we're next. Gymnastics Meets Carnage: Gymkata (1985)Welcome to this episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell pommel horse their way through one of the most wonderfully absurd action films of the 1980s—Gymkata (1985). Starring real-life Olympic gymnast Kurt Thomas in his feature film debut (and finale), this Cold War curiosity follows a gymnast-martial artist sent on a CIA mission to win "the game" in the fictional country of Parmistan. The prize? The perfect location for a Star Wars satellite defense system. The obstacles? Rope courses, arrow-wielding guards, and an entire village populated by actual asylum patients armed with pitchforks. The hosts dive into the film's bizarre logic, from the conveniently placed pommel horse in a village alley to the princess who somehow knows martial arts despite never mentioning it. They discuss the film's missed opportunities—why didn't they establish the international competitors better? Why does no one ever say "Gymkata" in the actual movie? And most importantly, why does Jonathan's dad get shot with arrows twice? Both Krissy and Nathan agree that while Gymkata delivers entertaining absurdity, it doesn't quite reach the legendary heights of so-bad-it's-great classics like Miami Connection or Ninja III: The Domination. Still, it's a fun ride through 1980s action cheese.Additional Highlights:The film was directed by Robert Clouse, who also directed Enter the Dragon—a sobering career trajectoryKurt Thomas performs genuinely impressive gymnastics throughout, even if the premise is ridiculousThe "game" has confusing rules that even the characters don't seem to understandThe movie ends with a freeze frame and text explaining the satellite placement rather than showingRating: 6.5 pitchforks out of 10—worth a watch with the right expectationsFinal ThoughtsBoth hosts land on a 6.5 rating, agreeing that Gymkata offers solid entertainment without hitting truly bananas territory. It's a honeydew melon of bad movies—pleasant enough but not the fruit you'd choose first. Nathan recommends exploring Neil Breen's filmography, particularly Fateful Findings, for those seeking more ego-driven cinema. Krissy suggests experiencing Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights for a real-life village-of-crazies adventure.Learn More:Discover more about The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast and the TruStory FM network at trustory.fm. Scripture: Acts 9:23–25 This message reminds us that prayer must lead to obedience. Prayer is powerful, but it becomes effective when we take action in the things God tells us to do. In Acts 9, Paul was facing certain death, yet unnamed disciples lowered him over a wall in a basket. God used ordinary people to save a life and advance His kingdom. People today are trying to escape spiritual, emotional, and physical death. There is an identity crisis in our world, and many have reached the end of their own ability. Every person carries an inner emptiness that only Jesus can fill. Success, possessions, and temporary comforts cannot satisfy. What people trust in becomes their god, yet only the living water can quench the thirst of the soul. God has given each of us a responsibility to hold onto the rope. He has placed us in specific places at the right time to help, to speak life, and to lift up those who are hurting. Being a rope holder is not about recognition. Some do it for attention, but true rope holders do it for the glory of God so that Jesus is lifted up and people are drawn to Him. Holding the rope is often inconvenient, just as it was for those who helped Paul in the night. It can be risky, costly, and tiring. Discipleship can feel heavy, and spiritual warfare can affect us if we are not mindful. Yet revival is worth it. People are worth it. We must stay sensitive to the Holy Ghost, willing to be inconvenienced, and ready to hold the rope for those who have stumbled, fallen, or are just beginning their walk with God. To whom much is given, much is required. We are called to feed, support, intercede, and stand in the gap so others can be saved, healed, and delivered.
Simple in structure but rich in potential, the Waitress tie is a versatile classic often seen in power exchange rope- but that's only the beginning. In this episode, Fox and Mya dive into the layers of this tie: • Fresh, less gendered names and interpretations • What makes up the tie (and some fun variations to try) • Contexts where it shines—from sensual play to practical restraint • The sensations it can evoke • Key risks and safety considerations • Personal stories of how Fox and Mya have used and adapted it Discover why this understated tie deserves a place in your rope toolkit.

In this episode, I sit down with Chad Umbel, co-founder of Rigging International Group (RIG), to explore the world of rope access welding, inspection, and high-angle industrial work. We talk about how Chad got into the trade, what rope access training really looks like, and why IRATA and SPRAT certifications matter. Chad breaks down how RIG hires and evaluates welders, how they test welders on rope, and what it takes to work offshore in places like Alaska—battling tides, weather, and extreme conditions. We also dive into rescue planning, safety culture, nondestructive testing, and the massive projects RIG is involved in, from stadiums to petrochemical plants to heavy construction. If you've ever been curious about rope access welding or wondered what it takes to work in some of the most challenging environments on the planet, this episode pulls the curtain back Check out RIG's website Here Give them a follow on Instagram Here info@rigintlgrp.com Rigging International Group 4240 N Lamb Blvd., Suite 115, Las Vegas, NV 89115 (702) 984-6313 Rigging International Group 6601 Arctic Blvd Anchorage, AK 99518 (907) 561-3133 Arc Junkies Podcast: Instagram: @Arcjunkiespodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@arcjunkiespodcast9253 Email: Show@arcjunkies.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jason-becker-45407b72?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_contact_details%3BKipEwR3uQXCmCjaEfNzo6w%3D%3D Arc Junkies Website: https://arcjunkies.com Arc junkies Merch: https://shop.threadmob.com/arcjunkie/shop/home Underground Metal Works: https://www.underground-metalworks.com/ Friends of the Show: American Welding Society Conferences Inspection Expo and Conference https://www.aws.org/community-and-events/conferences-and-events/inspection-expo-and-conference/ Use ARCJUNKIES at Checkout and get a free gift at the event. You'll learn a simple somatic practice, a decision-making framework, and real-world scripts to help you “drop the rope” with clarity, calm, and confidence. If you've ever felt over-responsible or emotionally hijacked in leadership, this episode is for you.Text me your thoughts on this episode!Enjoy the show? If you've ever been in a relationship with emotional immaturity or narcissistic behavior, you know the truth: Healing doesn't come with a map. Emotional safety doesn't come with instructions. And waking up is rarely a straight line. In this 10th “Death by 1,000 Cuts” episode, Tony introduces The Ten Emotional Commandments — the patterns, boundaries, and insights that so many people wish they had years earlier. These commandments aren't rules you obey; they're survival skills you learn. They're the shifts that help you understand your emotions, trust your gut, stop overexplaining, and finally step out of the chaos you didn't choose. This episode is validating, grounding, sometimes funny, sometimes painful — and deeply relatable. With listener-submitted “cuts,” real-world examples, and a gentle breakdown of what healing actually looks like, Tony helps you recognize the patterns AND understand how to break them. If you've felt alone in your confusion, in your exhaustion, or in the emotional whiplash of trying to make sense of someone else's immaturity — this episode is for you. 00:00 Introduction and Series Overview 00:37 The Power of Your Stories 01:20 A Survivor's Poem 04:42 The 10 Emotional Commandments 08:54 Commandment 1: Raise Your Emotional Baseline 15:59 Commandment 2: Get Your PhD in Gaslighting 21:53 Commandment 3: Drop the Rope of Emotional Tug of War 27:33 Commandment 4: Set Boundaries and Mean Them 32:17 Stop Searching for the Perfect Words 33:01 Examples of False Promises and Manipulation 33:52 Understanding Emotional Immaturity 36:41 Limiting Your Attack Surface 40:13 Recognizing Projection 44:45 Honoring Your Inner Dialogue 48:37 Trusting Your Gut and Emotions 53:07 Change is Not Linear 57:51 Final Thoughts and Resources Women navigating emotionally immature relationships: come join Tony's private women's Facebook group. Are you in condition to do rope? And what does that really mean? Claire, a Filipino strength and conditioning coach and exercise physiology researcher based in Thailand, returns for part two of her conversation with Mya and Fox. With over 15 years of experience coaching people of all ages, shapes, and abilities, she brings a science-informed, body-positive approach to rope bottoming—one that combines strength, mobility, and awareness. Her perspective couldn't be more different from Mya's go-with-the-flow style, and this time the hosts explore how conditioning, recovery, and mindset work together to build a rope journey that's sustainable, safe, and deeply rewarding. In this episode, they discuss: • The difference between conditioning and simply “getting fit” • Why you might want to condition yourself for rope, not just in rope • How rope is a marathon, not a sprint • Re-setting expectations for your body after time away from rope • Building the mental approach needed for long-term rope practice • Activities that help your body adapt to different rope challenges • Using the rope session itself as conditioning • What rope can learn from sports science • How conditioning supports safety and longevity • The role of bodyweight exercises in building body awareness • Why establishing a “body baseline” matters • Breathwork and recovery • Conditioning for “smexy-times” rope • The eight senses and their role in rope play You don't have to do any of this (Mya) —but if you love understanding the body, or you're a science and exercise geek at heart (Fox!), this is a must-listen. Ever feel like your heart is in a constant tug-of-war between what you want and what God wants? In this week's Bible study, we dive into James 3 and 4 to explore the difference between worldly wisdom and godly wisdom. Submitting to God and purifying our hearts can feel counter-cultural, but it is by this that the Fruits of the Spirit can grow. Through relatable stories, honest questions, and biblical insight, we're reminded that peace doesn't come from more control—it comes from surrender. Let's talk about what it really means to draw near to God and leave the judging and law-making to Him.=============================Reflection Questions:=============================✅ Where in your life are you holding onto control instead of surrendering to God?✅ How have you seen worldly wisdom show up in your decision-making lately?✅ What internal desires are driving external conflict in your relationships right now?✅ When you pray, are you seeking God's will—or your own?✅ How can you intentionally draw near to God this week, trusting that He's already near to you?=============================The Study of James:A Product of Anchor + WavesChannel Credits=============================

On Sunday Pastor Nate preached “Hold the Rope!” as we continued our series “Tell Me Why.” Jesus was sent by the Father to bring salvation to humanity. Christ is the light of the world. After His death and resurrection, Jesus commissioned His followers (including us) to share the good news of his salvation with all people. Each of us has the opportunity to share the hope and light of the Gospel. As Pastor Nate challenged us to each engage the Great Commission, he referenced a powerful event involving William Carey, the father of modern missions. In 1792 Carey was with a group of pastors in England, and before heading out as a missionary to India, he challenged the ministers in that meeting stating that he could be willing to go down into the pit to rescue others if they would hold the rope. Each of us has had someone holding our rope, and now we have the opportunity to hold the rope for others. What a powerful picture of how we each have a different role, but each share the same mission! If you couldn't join on Sunday, check out the message here.
Episode 2720 - Vinnie Tortorich welcomes Dr. Tony Hampton to discuss focusing on policy, advocating for change, use of GLP-1s, and more. https://vinnietortorich.com/2025/11/focusing-on-policy-episode-2720 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS Pure Vitamin Club Pure Coffee Club NSNG® Foods VILLA CAPPELLI EAT HAPPY KITCHEN YOU CAN WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE - @FitnessConfidential Podcast Focusing On Policy Dr. Tony Hampton has been a guest on the show several times—he has a long history of advocating in the low-carb space. (2:00) Being policy-focused rather than party-focused in governmental policy should be the focus. (8:30) Dr. Hampton describes his career focus on improving metabolic health, including how to incentivize doctors to help people discontinue medications and reduce the cost of care. (12:00) RFK Jr. may not always speak clearly to the mainstream public in a way that resonates. Dr. Hampton still faces challenges in the mainstream medical space, where other doctors struggle to embrace certain concepts; for example, many of his peers continue to have trouble accepting the idea that saturated fat is not harmful. (14:00) Despite the benefits of a low-carb or ketogenic diet and its positive effects on things like diabetes and other metabolic diseases, it is still not accepted by many doctors. Apparently, they didn't get the memo! (16:00) They discuss food deserts and their effects on the community. (21:00) Advocating and Taking Action Dr. Hampton describes a current concept in healthcare being initiated by Advocate Trinity. (22:00) Much of it is educating people about food and lifestyle, and helping them to change their habits for the better (28:00) Vinnie admits he is not a fan of GLP-1s, but he understands how they can be a valuable tool for teaching and helping people adopt new habits. (31:00) They discuss the negative aspects of GLP-1s. The muscle loss associated with GLP-1 is more pronounced than that observed with natural weight loss. Muscle is essential for so many reasons, including boosting insulin sensitivity. (38:00) It is the metabolic engine of the body! Increasing muscle mass prevents you from becoming fragile. (38:00) Dr. Hampton offers two programs: NEST, which stands for Nutrition, Exercise, Less Stress/More Sleep, and How You Think/Less Trauma. ROPE is for Relationships, Organism (avoiding bad/adding good), Pollutants, and Emotions.
