This podcast is aimed in diving deeper into my passion project - be_a_ripple. Originally it started out as a journaling exercise for me after a traumatic event in my life. The name be_a_ripple was inspired by a quote from Eckhart Tolle to "be like a ripple on the surface of the ocean, realising that…
In her book, "The Gifts of Imperfection", Brene Brown researches the concept of wholehearted living. The way in which her work is presented really offers an opportunity to integrate her findings into our own lives. Join me in studio as I take you through her 10 guideposts to cultivate wholehearted living. This will be my last podcast for 2020, talk to you all again in 2021. All my love! xxx
We hunger for knowledge whenever there is something our mind wants to understand. The trick is that, even though knowledge has its place, it is the deeper knowing inside us that is most important. Knowledge in itself can only get us so far. It is out experience of this knowledge that counts. Join me in studio as I take you through my favourite resources that's sure to help satisfy your hunger.
Sometimes our personality can act as a cage...keeping us from living our life to the fullest. Bringing awareness to how we perceive our personalities and "act" into them is an important step towards authenticity. Join me in the studio as I tell you about my experience with my own personality.
Relationships are one of the most important experiences we go through as human-beings. Not only relationships with other human-beings, but also our relationship with our environment and the things around us. Bringing awareness to these relationships to assess our boundaries, triggers and patterns is essential. Once we start doing this our consciousness starts to evolve, inviting other like-frequencies to join us on the journey.
We use words everywhere in our day-to-day lives. As human-beings we wouldn't be able to function without them. Even so, they are at their core only symbols or signposts to meaning. Sometimes lacking in their ability to capture wat we are trying to communicate. Understanding this is the first step to start using them in the right way. Join me as I dive deeper into this.
The same way scientists have found that the universe is physically expanding, our consciousness as a human-being is also on a journey of expansion. Everything that happens "to us" is actually happening "for us" in that it serves our expansion. Understanding this has a fundamental impact on how we experience and react to life.
Our bodies are such divine tools - we just need to be aware of it. They can be such a powerful anchor to ground us in the now. As part of the divine trinity, they play a intrinsic role in our experience of self. As soon as we become aware of this, everything changes. Join me in my studio as I share more.
There is this misconception that spiritualty is all about light, love and positivity. In reality, it is a practice that deals with duality. Both light and dark. As we move through this world there are pieces of ourselves that we hide or suppress to survive. These subconscious aspects form our shadow selves. In order to live more authentically we need to dig up these shadow parts and bring them to back to light.
Thoughts can be so addictive. We can get so stuck in our mind that we forget we are actually in control of them, and not the other way around. Practising to observe our thoughts is the first step to unlocking our manifestation power. Join me in my studio as I tell you more.
Our energetic bodies transmit a field around us called an aura. Our aura is almost like our energetic fingerprint - or our own set of northern lights. These beautiful fields of light can tell us a lot about the being that radiates them. Join me as I tell you more about how I perceive them and what the colours mean to me.
Laughter is truly one of the best medicines. Not only is it good for our mental and physical health, but it also helps us to build connections with fellow human-beings. Join me as I share more about this beautifully natural, sometimes hilarious, tool.
When you think of it - the act of balancing is actually a to-and-throw between opposites. This means being in balance includes both the "to" and the "throw". In life, we need to understand that this is applicable to our energy as well. We need to make room and be flexible when it comes to working with our energy. Most often than not, what seems right for us in the moment, trumps any routines/rules/boundaries we might have.
Desires are things that are deeply personal and authentic. They do not come from a space of "wanting", because wanting comes from a perceived lack of something. Instead they come from a space of knowing that it's already ours. Join me as I take you through some very important pointers to distinguish the deference.
Sharing ourselves and our journey is so powerful, and might even help others along the way. By sharing we allow ourselves to form a connection with not only others, but also with our deeper selves. This truly vulnerable act leads us to authenticity and ultimately our soul tribe.
Crystals are not only beautiful little rocks - they are so much more. Join me as I talk about how we can see them differently, how to take care of them as well as how I have experienced communication with them. This episode is in collaboration with CrackedRocks.
Whether we believe in energy as a scientific construct or as a spiritual one - Energy is everywhere. And we all have the ability to sense it and tap into that layer of our existence. It is all about being open minded and opening our senses to give us feedback that we are not consciously used to receiving. Almost like a toddler learning to walk for the first time. I've included a meditation to show you how to start doing this.
Lets face it. Ego can be a real pain. Especially when it sneaks up on you - like it did to me this week. Which brings us to the question - is ego all bad? Could we function without it? Perhaps not. Still doesn't mean we need to like it. Join me as I tell you about my experience with ego.
Listening with our souls, not just our ears, can be such a beneficial tool. Allowing ourselves to be enveloped by silence reminds us of our true nature. Once we feel our true nature we can bring its presence into any conversation to remind others of theirs. Practising listening enough even helps us to open up more to our intuition. Join me as I explain more on this.
In his first book, Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialog, Neale Donald Walsch really affirmed my experience of life the past few years. That we are all here to experience our own divinity. We are such amazingly powerful co-creators in this reality. That there really isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to be doing any of this. The only purpose there is, is to be reminded of who we are and then to re-create ourselves in that image. Join me as I take you through the profound realisations I had while reading this book.
Many consider vulnerability as a weakness. Brené Brown has taught me that it is actually very courageous and brave to allow yourself to be vulnerable. The less vulnerable we are, the more we are hiding behind a wall - not letting anyone in and also not letting our true selves out. Hand in hand with healthy boundaries, being vulnerable allows us to move towards greater authenticity.
Let's face it. Sometimes there are just some things that are really not okay with us. And that's okay! Boundaries are there to help us communicate what is okay and what is not okay for us personally. This can be applied to an external relationship with another person or even an internal relationship with yourself. Join me as I take you through an important technique by Brené Brown that will help you to understand and set the boundaries you need.
We are powerful co-creators in this reality. One of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal are words. When we use them to affirm our experiences they can create abundance... or only play back to us our wants. It all depends on how we use the words we affirm with. Join me as I take you through what I've realised on how we can utilise affirmations to their full potential.
Floating can be a very useful tool in many ways. My first experience in a Sensory Deprivation Tank was definitely not poetic. But once I got into it I could use the space to understand meditation in a different way. Limiting the sensory input helped me find that meditative space inside myself, which I could then more easily implement out in the world. Join me as I take you through my experience with this tool so you know what to expect when you try it.
Law of Attraction (or Reflection) is simply the attraction of "like" frequencies. Whatever your vibration, the Universe will respond by sending (or reflecting) that frequency back to you. If only it were that simple! We are such layered being that we carry around frequencies that we aren't even aware of. These might be from our subconscious or even from our higher selves. Join me as I take you through three important tips to remember when it comes to the Law of Attraction (or Reflection).
Intuition was always somewhat of a questions mark for me. That is, until a year and a half ago when I read "Woman Who Run with the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. One of her stories - about Vasalisa - really sparked my own journey towards uncovering my intuition and meeting my Wild Woman (aka Baba Yaga). Join me as I take you through my understanding of the 9 steps towards uncovering, understanding and listening to your inner voice.
Walking barefoot in nature is such a beautiful experience. There are so many benefits to barefooting/earthing/grounding - including the alignment of your energy system and improving organ health. The soles of our feet are laced with nerves that physically connect to all our organs and energetically connect to our chakras. Barefooting in nature can provide us with electrons that help neutralise the free radicals in our system to balance our energy. Join me as I take you through some of the benefits and interesting findings on my favourite pastime.
The energy we carry around with us, which is affected by our emotions and thoughts, reflects in the world around us. Synchronisities are always there - guiding, affirming, mirroring and warning. They can be a very powerful tool in understanding what is going on in our energy body. If we open up our eyes to these little happenings, the world truly becomes a magical place. Join me as I dive deeper into explaining what they are and how to understand them.
Sometimes in life we need to accept a situation, because we can't change or leave it. This can cause us a lot of pain, especially if we are in a state of resistance. Acceptance is a very powerful method, because it helps us to settle into what it is life is trying to show us. It helps us let go of resistance which often causes more pain. Join me as I explain what is mean by acceptance, because the word itself doesn't do it justice.
Everything around us vibrate at a certain frequency. Not just the physical things, but also those things we can't normally see. Like our emotions and thoughts. Because of law of attraction, we really want our frequency to be higher rather than lower. There are various ways we can increase our own frequency. Some of them require more effort than others. Join me as I explain three different, nearly effortless, ways you can heighten your frequency.
We as human-beings are such complex entities. There are so many layers to us that it's completely understandable that we can get overwhelmed sometimes. Right now, during this COVID journey, we are feeling grief. This grief is here to tell us something. Join me as I take you through some very important insights and tips to understand your emotions and where they are coming from.
Physical touch is a primary human need. We are social creatures, biologically put together to need each other. Technology has been driving a wedge between us for a long time now. The COVID pandemic has come to show us just how lacking technology really is to meet our needs. It's also creating a unique opportunity for us to re-write the meaning behind physical touch. So we can create a future where sometimes touching is only for touch sake.
A book by Candelaria and Hermann Zapp ~ two Argentinians fulfilling their dream to travel from their home all th way to Alaksa in their antique car. Such a beautiful journey that really inspired me to unpack what it is I want to achieve in this life. Join me as I take you through some of the most important things I've taken from their book.
Setting intentions is the first building block for manifesting what we want in this life. We as human-beings are extremely powerful co-creators of our reality. The current pause in our lives due to COVID19 is the ideal space to dig into what it is we want to create post pandemic. Join me as I take you through a few tips to set your intentions.
Distractions are an act or behaviour we indulge in to avoid unpleasant emotions. During this COVID19 epidemic we are being forced to actually face these emotions. Because most of our distractions are no longer accessible to us. We now need to face the pain, realise that the pain is not the enemy...but an indication of something deeper that needs healing.
Plenty of historic beliefs focused on the impact the moon has on us as human-beings. Growing up in a modern world has left many of us, including myself , without a real understanding of this impact. Join me as I touch on some of the impacts I have noticed personally and how I'm trying to make sense of it.
We all have the ability to understand and share the feelings of others ~ at least at some level. Those that are extremely sensitive to the feelings of others are called empaths. I myself are one of these people. Join me as I take you through a few things I've learned about approaching life as an empath.
During this time of physical seperation, there is only one thing that can bring us together. Love. We can use this love to help us move through the triggers this situation is bringing up within us. Within love there is no separation ~ we and everything around us are one.
This episode is about moving your body! We as spiritual beings have been given this opportunity ~ to live a physical life. That includes taking care of our bodies. Taking care of our hearts. We can use our bodies to be in coherence with our higher selves. And it al starts with taking responsibility. It starts with you.
There are so many opportunities throughout our daily lives where we can strive to express ourselves authentically. If we could just move past our barriers - in my case the classic people pleasing syndrome - we could find those spaces that make our entire being hum.
Probably one of the most important things I've learnt ~ how to love myself. As we move into self love, we move toward authenticity and alignment with our highest purpose. Self love helps us to strip away our ego, conditioning, triggers and other things that don't serve us anymore.
Join me as I explain what spirit guides mean to me and how I appreciate them in my life. These higher frequencies come to us in peace if we invite them into our lives. Like inner parents they show us the power of syncronicities and the meaning of deep reflection.
Join me as I jump into this year (2020) with a mission to detach. From both external and, even more importantly, internal attachments. Detachment moves us toward unity and love, away from singularity and suffering.
This episode is focused on forgiveness ~ not only others, but also yourself. I explain two different visual techniques I've personally used. They assist in letting go of those negative energies we unnecessarily carry around with us. Forgiveness is the best gift you can give yourself.
Join me as I dive deeper into dreams. What they are, what they might mean and how to go about interpreting them. Everything we experience as human-beings exists to assist in the expansion of our conciousness. Even dreams.
One of my favourite books - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Join me as I take you through the golden nuggets tucked away in this beautiful story. It's all about following syncronicities, manifesting your decisions and allowing your intuition ~ all while realising that everything is one. Maktub.
Join me as I explain the power of using mantras. This is such an influential life-enhancing tool available to anyone eager to give it a try. It can be used as a mind vehicle during meditation or as positive affirmations during everyday life.
Join me as I dive into my favourite aspects of the book ~ The Subtle Art of not Giving a F*ck (or Duck...) by Mark Manson. It's all about assessing those spaces in our lives where overly negative emotions arise. Most of the time these emotions come from values that we actually have control over.
This episode is about touching base. It's been 5 months since the first publication of Cast a Ripple (can you believe it?!). I wanted to take this time to zoom-in and unpack the purpose of my venture. Which is to help YOU to increase YOUR day to day experiences by sharing life-enhancing tools.
This episode covers the phases of a spiritual awakening. It's handy to know where you are in the process and what you might expect next. Looking back at my journey so far I can definitely relate to these phases. Excited to experience the rest!
In this episode I dive into the discomfort of fear. Not just any fear, but the fear of being a woman in South Africa. Recent anti femicide movements against the brutal rape and murder of woman makes this so necessary to talk about. In order for us to move through the fear we need to trust our hearts and speak our peace.
