La pedanía lorquina de la Hoya celebra este lunes su día más grande con la romería de la Virgen de la Salud, una festividad que, según la tradición local, marca el final oficial de la Navidad en la zona. Los actos comenzarán a las 9:00 de la mañana con una misa en la Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón, donde se realizará la bendición de mujeres embarazadas y niños recién nacidos con motivo del día de la Candelaria.Tras los bailes y cánticos de las cuadrillas, se iniciará el ascenso de cuatro kilómetros hacia la ermita, en un recorrido que suele durar unas dos horas y media y en el que la imagen es portada por costaleros del pueblo. Una vez en el monte, tras una segunda misa sobre las 13:30 horas, los asistentes disfrutarán de una jornada de convivencia con barbacoas, arroces y migas que se prolonga hasta el atardecer, manteniendo vivo el espíritu festivo y familiar que caracteriza a esta cita.

She moved to New York after college and has made it her home ever since. She holds an M.A. from New York University. Hello, Catholic Pilgrims. Welcome!  So, we just finished up the voyage that brought Mother Cabrini to Buenos Aires and now we are starting one that takes her from Buenos Aires to Genoa.  It's August of 1901, so about nine months from when she landed. This is just one letter. It's unfinished, but there is only one date entry. That means we will read the whole thing today and then I'll give my reflection. That'll be the end of this voyage.  Mother Cabrini is going to talk about visiting a church called Our Lady of the Candelaria or more appropriately, La iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. It's in Rio de Janeiro. She talks about counting the candle sticks that are shaped like a pyramid. I went to go see if I could find pictures of the church and, sure enough, Mother Cabrini's description is spot on. I'll link it in the show notes.  So, let's get started by turning to page 265.
