Thankful for you all. Pardon a slight deviation from our usual Tuesday release. We discuss: 00:00 Thanksgiving and urbanism. 04:35 A journaling exercise. 10:01 Upcoming guests and episodes. 11:21 A note on black friday and parking minimums. A sample journal exercise. First, the point of gratitude, followed by a summarized root-cause analysis. Apologies for brevity, these were transcribed from my field notes. Aly – got to know each other on walks, solve problems on walks, stay fit on walks, save money on walks, all of which are made possible by living in walkable pockets of American cities. also, even met on a dating app in Dallas, which exists/thrives because of a decline in serendipitous interactions and third-place prevalence. Simple routines that define home – the walk to school in 45 minutes, through beautiful tree-covered brick streets lined with gorgeous architecture – to the grocery store, through goodale park – to coffee, any number of possible routes. Urban nature, and small moments of natural respite – made possible via breaks in car-dominated infrastructure. Bikes – only able to ride in effectively-designed places. Travel to places like portland, boston, new york, and tempe – all made endlessly enjoyable due to their various brands of strong or emerging urbanism. Sunrises + sunsets – only able to be experienced fully because I don't have to sit in traffic anywhere close to the american average of 30-min one-way commutes. Rich memories from formative times like high school and college – physical proximity and socialization. re: colleges, campuses are the largest collection of continuous car-free spaces we have in the U.S. Gentle-density – the best photos, views, and future home aspirations. Parents – started walking with me from a young age, which instilled autonomy; sense of direction, and forever fuels rich nostalgia. My health (physical + mental) – walking powers this. Even when the gym gets notched out of a day, I always have long walks, because they are built into my commute + lifestyle. This is also where I breath, think, reflect, and ideate.

Our Reimagined Life: Empowering Me, You, and Us Seeking Happiness and Self Worth

In this episode of "Our Reimagined Life," we explore the transformative power of gratitude and how keeping a gratitude journal can shift your mindset towards positivity. I share my personal journey of how implementing a daily habit of gratitude has elevated my vibration and overall life experience. Our brain can only focus on one thing at a time, and by consciously choosing to focus on gratitude, we can replace negative emotions with positive ones.  I discuss the practical steps of maintaining a gratitude journal, starting with writing down 3-5 things you're grateful for each day, emphasizing the importance of feeling the emotions behind these gratitudes. Additionally, I encourage you to write 3-5 things you're grateful for in the future, as if they've already happened, to harness the power of positive thinking and attract these desires into your life. This practice not only boosts your mood and self-esteem but also aligns you with universal energy, making it easier to manifest your dreams. Give gratitude journaling a try and notice the difference it makes in your daily life. Stay tuned for the next episode where I'll share a simple and effective technique that has helped me elevate specific areas of my life. Here are five exercises inspired by the teachings in the podcast to help practice embracing wonder and exploration: Nature Connection Meditation: Find a quiet spot outdoors, whether it's a park, garden, or beach. Close your eyes and focus on your breath, grounding yourself in the present moment. Allow your senses to fully engage with your surroundings: feel the warmth of the sun, listen to the sounds of nature, and notice the scents in the air. With each breath, cultivate a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world around you. Spend at least 10 minutes in this mindful state, allowing yourself to connect deeply with nature. Object Exploration Exercise: Choose an object from your surroundings—a rock, a flower, or even a household item. Take a few moments to observe the object closely, paying attention to its texture, color, and shape. Allow yourself to wonder about the object's origins, history, and purpose. Engage your curiosity by asking questions and exploring different perspectives. Reflect on how this simple act of exploration can deepen your appreciation for the world around you. Romanticizing Daily Rituals: Select a mundane daily task, such as making breakfast or walking to work. Approach the task with a sense of curiosity and wonder, as if experiencing it for the first time. Notice the small details and nuances that you may have overlooked before. Infuse the task with creativity and imagination, finding joy in the process. Reflect on how embracing this mindset can transform even the most routine activities into moments of beauty and inspiration. Creative Expression Through Photography: Take a walk in your neighborhood or a nearby natural area with a camera or smartphone. Instead of focusing solely on capturing perfect shots, allow yourself to explore and experiment with different angles, lighting, and subjects. Look for beauty in unexpected places and moments of serendipity. Embrace imperfection and spontaneity, letting go of the need for everything to be perfectly composed. Reflect on how this practice of creative expression through photography enhances your ability to see the world with fresh eyes. Gratitude Journaling for Romance: Set aside time each day to reflect on moments of wonder and exploration. Write down three things you're grateful for, focusing on experiences that ignited a sense of romance or inspiration. Include details about what made each moment special and how it made you feel. Consider how you can incorporate more opportunities for wonder and exploration into your daily life. Review your journal regularly to remind yourself of the beauty and richness that surrounds you. These exercises are designed to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the world around us and nurture a sense of wonder and exploration in our daily lives. Enjoy the journey of discovery! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chris-walker70/message

When I stumbled upon my late father's journals, a 40-year legacy of his thoughts and experiences, it was like finding a hidden doorway to the past and a spark for my future. His perseverance through the blank pages inspired me, Cathy, to embark on my own journaling journey, which I'm thrilled to share with you. As we explore the emotional rollercoaster of starting and maintaining a journal, I dive into the initial challenges and share candidly about the emotions that arise when life tries to crowd out this introspective practice.Discover the simple yet profound practice of gratitude journaling in this heartfelt episode, where I reveal how listing daily thanksgivings and celebrating personal victories can significantly shift one's mental landscape towards positivity—even amidst life's toughest challenges, like my husband's cancer battle. It's a discussion that moves beyond the pages of a journal, as I offer practical tips for weaving gratitude into the fabric of everyday life, transforming protective negative thinking into a celebration of the good that surrounds us.Closing this chapter, I underscore the special significance of journaling for caregivers, a group to which many of us belong, often without realizing the weight we carry. In this episode, I explain a specific writing protocol shown in hundreds of scientific studies to significantly improve immediate and long-term health. I explain how to implement this specific protocol, which takes only four days and 15-30 minutes per day. I also explain the mechanism for how the four-day writing protocol affects neuroplasticity (brain rewiring) and brain function in the short and long term. I explain how these brain changes positively impact our physical health, including our system's immune function and thus our ability to combat infections, improve sleep, reduce feelings of physical and emotional pain, lower anxiety, and bring about healing from traumas. This episode ought to be of interest to anyone seeking better mental and/or physical health through the use of brief yet highly effective science-supported protocols. Journaling Techniques that changed my life (2022) ✅ FREE SUCCESS HYPNOSIS - click here to download my free success hypnosis to reprogram your subconscious mind ➡ https://www.jakeducey.com/hypnosis There's 5 main journaling techniques for how to journal that we discuss in this video: 1.) Imagineering (hypnotic writing journal) - this is when you write in the present tense about what you want, as if you already have it. in the book "Think and Grow Rich" they refer to is as hypnotic writing and auto-suggestion. from the book "Think and Grow Rich" it was the first time i heard of hypnotic journal writing - previously, i only thought about journals as a place where you take notes or write down some of your thoughts. I find "Imagineering" to be one of the most powerful techniques to start to change the story you tell yourself mentally. all you do is write about everything you want, but do it ONLY in the present tense. i also suggest you download my free success hypnosis and let it play quietly as you journal. 2.) Gratitude Journaling - this is where you write about the things you're thankful for. it seems so simple but it's probably the most powerful journal technique to quickly raise your vibration. the easiest way to do this is to listen to my free success hypnosis and numerically list out 10+ things you're grateful for. they can be simple things, like being grateful for health, clean water, your family, your job, your money. the point of this journal technique is to change the way you feel, so you're more grateful. 3.) Problem Solution Journaling - this is a great one to help you. simple write out your challenges or problems, and then write out all the solutions to the challenge. when you ask you always receive. so write down whatever challenges or problems you're facing, and then your higher self will give you very clear answers. write all the solutions down, and then circle the best ones for you to focus on right away. 4.) Self Letter Journaling - how to journal for confidence and self esteem? that's what this is about. simply write yourself a very authentic and powerful letter. begin with a letter to yourself. write about what you're proud of. acknowledge yourself. pretend you're getting a letter from a close friend, and write it to yourself. 5.) Brain-Dump Journal - this is where you just get everything out of your head. when people think of how to journal, they normally think of this. this is just you writing out an account of everything happening in your life and in your mind. this is a great way to get the thoughts out of your head and begin to quiet your mind. I hope you enjoy today's video on how to journal. journaling can seem like an odd thing, because we never did it growing up. for me as an athlete, i always thought it was too artsy. as an athletic young man, i had no interest in it. when i got introduced to how to journal and i began to use these journal techniques it changed my life. i hope you enjoying journaling in 2022 with these techniques. Journaling is basically writing down your thoughts and feelings so you can understand them more clearly. While some of our more difficult feelings are what we usually think about when we journal, there are other things we can write about too.Not that I want to tell you what to journal about, but I would like to make a suggestion that may open up some new ideas.Today, I'd like to talk about positive journaling.Writing about the good things that are happening or exciting and happy things that you'd like to have happen. That sounds nice doesn't it.Maybe another way to daydream.Perhaps we could call it, Gratitude Journaling.Positive Journaling Ideas:  https://hunkeedori.com/PositiveJournalingUniquee Connection Method:  Option #1: Video Course  https://hunkeedori.com/UCMCourseOption #2: One-on-One Coaching https://hunkeedori.com/UCMBundleSign up for a Free Mini-Mentor Session: https://hunkeedori.com/MiniMentorTip Tuesday Video Link: https://youtu.be/xcFQUB_56_gTake a Workshop: https://hunkeedori.com/CoursesRead full transcript at: https://hunkeedori.com/070-journaling-the-good-stuff/Join the Keeping it Together Community: www.hunkeedori.com/communityEtsy Shop:  http://hunkeedori.etsy.comHunkeedori Website:  https://hunkeedori.com/
