We're back baby! It's been six weeks so our break was a little longer than anticipated, but we have returned and we've got a very timely episode for you. To begin with, we've had our first couples into the studio and we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but there have been some promising matches so far. With that in mind, today's episode is full of tips of the things to do and not to do on a first date. We talk about where you should go, what to wear, how to greet each other, what to talk about, who should pay and how to end it. In our personal lives we surprisingly don't have a lot to talk about even though it's been a month and a half, but that's for a good reason. We're both seeing someone, just the one someone (not each other) and it's going well. Turns out when we're both happy and content in our dating lives, our dating podcast becomes pretty uneventful. Well everyone, we've reached a new record this week… the introduction goes for 32 minutes and honestly we have absolutely no idea why. We have truly never talked this much crap and we're not sorry. An update on applications for you all - they're going to remain open for one more week and you can now apply if you're over the age of 21. In the main topic we're chatting about situationships - what are they, how do you get into one, what it means, how to progress it forward and when to pull the pin. We've all been in them and frankly they can really suck, so hopefully this episode helps you to know you're not alone. In other parts of the episode, Sim tells about his fear of public speaking, Shannon gives us an update on the English geologist from earlier in the year and we spend a good five minutes discussing Lord of the Rings. We've got a shorter episode for you this week but it's for a VERY good reason… Applications for round two of the dating show are officially OPEN and we want to give you all the time you need to apply. Remember it's open to anyone aged 24 and above who is living in WA. Otherwise, in this episode we're chatting about attachment styles - secure, anxious and avoidant - how they're formed and what impact they can have on your adult relationships. This is probably the most important episode to date this year… the matchmaking is BACK and we have all of the details for you. Applications will open on July 23 and stay open for two weeks until August 6. It's open to absolutely anyone in WA over the age of 24 and if you use the codeword hidden somewhere in this episode, you'll increase your chances of getting matched. In the main topic, we're discussing the five love languages - words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, physical touch and receiving gifts. These languages determine how you both like to give and receive love and learning how your partner receives love will help you know the best way to demonstrate your love and caring. We also give you a very minor update on our lives because we have nothing exciting to report but still manage a 20 minute intro talking about who only knows what. Guys! We're on time this week and you've only had to wait 7 days in between episodes! This week, we're talking about the idea of future tripping. It's the concept where very early on in dating, you start fantasising about someone and where the relationship could go, but ultimately end up falling for the potential of that person, rather than who they actually are. Don't worry we're all really guilty of it - Shannon got her feelings hurt only recently by letting her head envision a future that wasn't there yet and on the day we recorded, Simon had decided a girl he had spent 1.5 hours with was already ‘girlfriend' material. Yes, we're a whole week late… oops! Good news is you only have to wait a week until a new episode comes out and we promise we'll be on it from now on. In this week's ep, we're discussing if age really is just a number. What is an acceptable age gap, does it make a difference if the guy or girl is older, are age gaps more common in the city or country? Meanwhile in our personal lives, Simon has huge news and is actually starting to date women his own age and Shannon is taking full credit for his development as a human being. This week, we've got our first guests for 2021 on the show, so we're stoked to introduce you to Camille and Lach. The pair met just before the pandemic hit last year, with Lach moving to the remote Kimberley to be with Camille just a couple of months after they first met. They got engaged in November last year, are planning a wedding for August and are a true example of ‘when you know, you know.' Two friends of the opposite sex debate whether it is possible to be truly platonic friends with the opposite sex. Does it get super awkward? Yep, 100%, it absolutely does! Shannon also goes on a rant about what not to do when someone sends you the "I just don't feel a spark text." While Simon shares that there surprisingly is a woman out there who likes him. Nope, not his mum, it's his sister. At the end of the ep, Shannon and Sim dish out some much needed advice to a listener who is wondering if she should get back together with her ex. It's a term we've all heard of and while it technically means creating a false identity online, most of us experience catfishing in a far less sinister, but just as deceptive and infuriating way. We're going to go through hatfishing, facial hair, make-up, height and all the other ways people lie about or hide their real selves online. Also, last year Shannon got accused of being a catfish, but you'll have to tune in to find out why. Meanwhile in our dating lives, it's been a couple of weeks and so far Simon has stuck to his word and is only talking to one girl which is a huge accomplishment! While for Shannon, the geologist wasn't scared off but her knowing all of his closest friends and there was a second date, but really it's probably only a matter of time. Farmers & Charmers is back for 2021 and we've got a new look and a new host. Shannon has returned and she's brought Simon, the agronomist from Kojonup who came on at the end of last year, with her! Together the duo who will be leading Farmers & Charmers from now on and we're excited for what the year holds. On this episode, we talk about how Simon came to be the new co-host, the shenanigans that occurred at his 30th last weekend, what's new in our dating lives and what the plans are for the matchmaking side of things later in the year. Also, we need to give a huge shout out to Shannon's incredibly talented friend Stephen Kavanagh. He's a composer and sound designer who created our fab new intro song and we couldn't be more grateful! The last two months have absolutely flown by and we can't believe we're releasing the final Farmers & Charmers episode for 2020. This episode begins with our agronomist pal Simon returning to answer your deep, dark and burning questions… and letting us take the piss out of him a little bit more. After that Shannon and Lavinia reflect on the year that was 2020. We chat about what we learnt about love, life and dating this year and set a few intentions for how we want to be in 2021. We can't believe we're about to say this, but get ready to meet the last of our couples for season one. Our farmer this week is Jamie, a mixed cropping and sheep farmer from Borden, while our charmer is Nicole, she works for City Farmers and lives in Perth. At the beginning of the episode we bring you something new and exciting… A MAN! Now don't get too excited, Lavinia and Shannon still haven't managed to bag a boyfriend, but they did manage to convince a guy to come on the show. This first season of Farmers & Charmers has just flown by and it's time for you to meet our second last couple. Our farmer is David, an ag mechanic from Wongan Hills, and our charmer is Rachael, a truck driver / uni student / business owner from Perth. In the first part of the Episode, Shannon and Lavinia dive into a topic they've been avoiding since it blew up on the Insta page - right person, wrong time? Or just wrong person? This one had so many people weighing in with their opinions from both sides of the coin and it's possibly the first topic we haven't been able to come to an agreement on. So if you love listening to us argue with each other over technicalities… this is the episode for you.

We're really changing things up this week and really our guy and girl are both semi farmers and charmers. Cameron works in IT at the Narrogin Ag College and Miranda works in communications in Gin Gin but grew up on a farm in Lake Grace. At the beginning of the episode, Lavinia and Shannon chat about the pickle of potentially hooking up with a friend's ex… don't worry, we're NOT talking from recent experience. But we dive into whether it's allowed, if you have to ask the friend and how to do it without hurting anyone's feelings. This episode is going to sound a little different for a very good reason… our couple just had a conversation. The farmer, Peter from Cadoux, and charmer, Marcia from the Swan Valley, only made it through one of our questions and then just chatted like two normal humans. There was really no point in Lavinia and Shannon being in the room. Speaking of Lavinia and Shannon, we take a deep dive into what it means when someone says “I'm not ready for a relationship” or “I'm just not looking for anything serious right now.” It can be really confusing when that person's actions are saying they really like you but their words are saying the opposite. Chances are it's got nothing to do with you and everything to do with them, personally we're a big fan of just blaming the other person and moving on with your fabulous life.

On episode 3 of Farmers & Charmers, we introduce you to Ben, a farmer from Bencubbin, and Tahlia, a teacher from Perth. Lavinia and Shannon also talk, quite possibly, the most amount of crap they've ever talked as they delve into how dating is different on the apps versus meeting someone out in the wild. We also go over the do's and don't of online dating profiles, including what the absolute red flags are that will make someone swipe ‘hell to the no' on your profile. Honestly, we're not sure how much you'll learn from this episode, but it's an absolute corker, so strap in!

It's a pleasure to introduce you to our second couple. On today's episode our farmer is Brydie, an ag machinery dealer from Katanning, and our charmer is Cam, a primary school teacher from Karratha. Cam is also one of co-host Shannon's closest friends so this match was extra special to us. We're also taking a deep dive on long distance relationships - what do they look like in the ag world and how to make it work. The time has finally arrived for you to meet the first Farmers & Charmers couple! Michael is a 26-year-old farmer from Southern Brook, while Emily is a 26yo legal assistant from Perth. They were the first couple to come in and record with us, so we were ALL out of our comfort zones, but they were such good sports and from what we could see and hear, they had some pretty great chemistry. Also in this episode, Shannon and Lavinia drill down into the protocol of a first date - who should organise it, who should pay, should you sleep together, who messages first afterwards and is ghosting OK?
