Lou began his green industry career after his freshman year of college in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. That summer, he joined a small tree care company focused on removals and occasional pruning. After a few years, he moved into landscaping with a design and installation firm. Taking night classes in horticulture, Lou developed an appreciation for how plants work together in the landscape.In 2013, he joined The Davey Tree Expert Company as part of their commercial landscape team. In August 2013, Lou obtained his certification as an ISA Certified Arborist®, and since then earn his ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional® certification and his ISA Certified Arborist Utility Specialist® certification, along with an ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification®.In 2017, Lou moved to Maryland and began a stint in utility arboriculture with the Davey Resource Group. This opportunity opened his eyes to the breadth and scope of utility vegetation management, a huge sector of the green industry. He eventually moved back to residential arboriculture, first as a sales arborist and then as a manager. In 2021, his role changed to commercial development, working with schools, HOAs, shopping centers, and other commercial sites throughout Maryland and Washington, DC, to manage their tree canopies.Today, Lou's role with Davey is focused on developing business in thegovernment sector in a national role.He lives in Ellicott City, Maryland with his wife, Molly, and two children, Louie and Maggie. She joins us to share why she thinks her new space is needed in the region and her future plans for it. Kristine Thomas, the executive director of the Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce and an aspiring mystery writer who has taken writing workshops taught by Gregory, also joins us for this discussion.

There's a quote from your book that I want to read real quick and get your take on it. If your business depends on you, you don't own a business. You have a job. And it's the worst job in the world because you're working for a lunatic. So, Michael, can you provide some additional insight as to if you are still working in the business, why you don't actually own a business?Michael 00:01:42  Well, you have to understand that, oftentimes my statements are stronger than they need to be. Oftentimes, as well, they're not strong enough, but I understand. Take that quote working for a lunatic and you might change it to be working for an idiot. And it's that idiot that I attempt to transform. And the only way in the world that idiot is going to be transformed is if he or she doesn't persist. Being that idiot in the way they think about who they are, why they do what they do, what they're there to create, and how it's going to be created if in fact, they grow beyond their idiot hood.Michael 00:02:28  So it's a master, master, master position to take charge. In short, to strenuously understand that while you're not in a people development business. In short, that's not the intent you are. You get what I mean by that. While you're not in a people development business, you actually are. Everyone is. But the question then becomes what is people development? And how does one approach people development at the very outset? And that is in the positioning of who you are and what you do. So the most critical process in what I describe, how many of you have read beyond the email?Josh 00:03:17  Yes, I've read it.Michael 00:03:19  Well congratulations Josh folks. I picked the book up. It's beyond the myth, the evolution of an enterprise from a company of one to a company of 1000. And at the heart of that book is what I describe as the Eightfold Path. The Eightfold Path is crucial to the process of becoming who you intend to be. Let me describe the eight steps in the Eightfold Path.Michael 00:03:48  I have a dream. I have a vision. I have a purpose. I have a mission. I have a job, I have a practice. I have a business. I have an enterprise, a dream, a vision, the purpose, the mission, the job, the practice, the business, the enterprise. The Eightfold path is the process for growing a company of one to a company of 1000. It is the process of maturing from doing it yourself, doing it, doing it, doing it, doing it to create an enterprise that does it in great measure with a great number of individuals who are in fact, instilled in the process of understanding and appreciating what a dream is, what a vision is, what a purpose is, what a mission is. How many of you are familiar with the Dreaming Room? So the Dreaming Room is a program that I developed to take one through the first four steps to discover your dream, your vision, your purpose, your vision. If you fail to discover your dream.Michael 00:05:00  I'm saying you'll never discover your vision. If you fail to discover your dream, I say go to never discover your purpose. And you follow me and follow me. First this, then that, then that, then that. So there's a process, a mad process through which you grow in maturity, you grow in eloquence. I want to ask you something real quick. What if you could wake up tomorrow and half your to-do list was already done? Emails answered, content posted, calls booked, follow-ups sent, and you did not lift a finger. That is not some far-off fantasy anymore. That is what is actually possible right. In this solo episode, I am breaking down exactly how I am doing it and how you can too. I am not here claiming to be the AI guru of anything. I am just the reporter. These are the things that are working in my world right now, and I want to hand them straight to you so you can take what fits and leave what does not. That has always been the Happy Hustle way. Here is the big idea behind this whole episode: stop thinking about AI as a tool and start thinking about it as a team member. Better yet, think of it as your co-founder. Because when you make that mental shift, everything changes. You stop dabbling and you start deploying. And that is where the real leverage lives. The first thing I want you to take away is the idea of building your AI team department by department. You do not have to overhaul your whole business overnight. Just look at each area and ask what AI could own in that space. For marketing, AI can write your emails, your ad copy, your social posts, and your content outlines. Tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and others can crank out high quality drafts in minutes when you give them a solid prompt. For customer support, you can build a chatbot trained on your own FAQs, your offers, and your most common objections, so it handles the repetitive questions while you focus on the high value conversations. For scheduling and executive tasks, tools like Calendly, Motion, and Claude Cowork can connect your calendar, your project management, and your communication tools into one central hub that basically runs itself. The second big takeaway is the four bucket framework. Break your business down into lead generation, sales, fulfillment, and operations. Then for each bucket, ask yourself three questions: what can be automated, what can be templated, and what can AI handle 80 percent of? That question alone will change how you see your week. Anything that does not require human emotion or final judgment can most likely be handed off, and that frees you up to do the work only you can do. The third thing I want you to lock in is the delegation framework, and it is four simple steps. First, write down everything you do daily. Second, sort those tasks into three categories: repetitive, creative, or strategic. Third, automate the repetitive stuff with AI entirely, use AI as a thought partner on the creative stuff, and keep the strategic stuff for yourself because that is your zone. Fourth, optimize weekly. Refine your prompts, build SOPs for your AI systems, and even ask AI itself how to make things better. That last one alone is a game changer. The fourth takeaway is about the pitfalls, because I want you to avoid the mistakes, I see people making. Do not over-automate human connection. That is a line you do not cross. Do not blindly trust AI outputs either. Always verify, always review. And do not put garbage in and expect gold out. The quality of what you feed your AI determines the quality of what it gives back. Train it well, give it context, and treat it like the team member it is becoming. The real goal here is not to work more. It is to work in a way that gives you back your time, your energy, and your presence so you can show up fully for the people and the things that actually matter. That is the happy hustle. Synopsis & Review of Ready or Not 2 This film picks up right where the first one left off with our protagonist Grace dealing with the aftermath of her wedding night gone wrong, except this time she is reconnected with her sister Faith and they have to “run and hide” from even more satanists under the rule of Mr. Le Bail. The film brings us A LOT of gore and even more laughs with not so subtle societal commentary. With a star studded cast including many horror movie regulars and our returning scream queen the movie was set up for success. It's genuinely hilarious, self aware of the absurdity at times and it just works. There are a few pitfalls that we will get into in spoilers but overall it's a great time to watch, so I am giving it a  9/10 …. What do you guys think? Score 9/10
