On today's episode, host Kate Lindsay is joined by Slate staff writer Nitish Pawha to discuss his piece “Your TV Is Not Safe.” Apps like Instagram, Substack, and Spotify are making the leap from smart phones to smart TVs, as TVs attempt to compete against scrolling, and the nature of entertainment is changing. But giving over our TVs to these companies even further changes our relationships with technology, and even more, how we spend time with each other. This podcast is produced by Vic Whitley-Berry, Daisy Rosario, and Kate Lindsay, with help from A.C. Valdez. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're putting more and more trust into AI. Will it all blend into one app? Today, we're talking to Jacques Klick, Director of Market Strategy & Product Marketing at Sinch. We discuss why the app store era is quietly ending and what replaces it, how a 62% enterprise AI adoption rate is hiding a 74% rollback problem, and what RCS actually is and why it might be the most underutilized channel in marketing right now. All of this right here, right now, on the Modern CTO Podcast! To learn more about Sinch, check out their website here. To read Sinch's full report on The AI Production Paradox, check it out here.
Every year, Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference introduces updates that ripple through the App Store economy for years to come. In this special post-WWDC edition of Sub Club Live, host David Barnard sits down with RevenueCat developer advocate Charlie Chapman and world-renowned growth expert Thomas Petit to cut through the keynote hype. Together, they analyze the technical realities and strategic implications of the biggest announcements coming out of Apple Park.Rather than offering a generic recap of consumer features, the panel focuses entirely on the practical mechanics that impact subscription app growth, retention, and monetization. From the deprecation of SiriKit in favor of mandatory App Intents to the introduction of App Store Creative Assets and new subscription bundling options, this session provides a clear roadmap of what subscription businesses should test immediately, adopt eventually, or safely ignore.More content from the RevenueCat family:

Strategic Technology Consultation Services This episode of The Modern .NET Show is supported, in part, by RJJ Software's Strategic Technology Consultation Services. If you're an SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) leader wondering why your technology investments aren't delivering, or you're facing critical decisions about AI, modernization, or team productivity, let's talk. Show Notes "."— Codrina Merigo Hey everyone, and welcome back to The Modern .NET Show; the premier .NET podcast, focusing entirely on the knowledge, tools, and frameworks that all .NET developers should have in their toolbox. I'm your host Jamie Taylor, bringing you conversations with the brightest minds in the .NET ecosystem. Today, we are joined by Codina Merigo to talk about the cross section of .NET MAUI and AI, her new book "AI-Enabled Apps with .NET MAUI", and some of the scenarios where you might want to include AI in your applications. "To get privacy by design nowadays is really impossible. So if you need to really have something disconnected from the internet maybe you'll need a tiny offline model that just, I don't know, does speech-to-text."— Codrina Merigo Along the way, we discuss the differences between local (on device) AI models and the frontier (online) models, we talk about where models really help with the accessibility of your applications, and we talk about where you can go to get started learning about this new world.. Before we jump in, a quick reminder: if The Modern .NET Show has become part of your learning journey, please consider supporting us through Patreon or Buy Me A Coffee. This episode is a personal and confronting reflection on how quickly even a cyberaware professional can lose control of a long-standing Gmail account. What began as a seemingly legitimate brand collaboration unfolded into a carefully orchestrated phishing attack that removed all security measures within seconds. The experience highlights how modern cybercrime blends patience, credibility signals, automation and psychological triggers to bypass even cautious users. The phishing grooming process and credibility signals used • The red flags hidden in plain sight • What happened in the 60-second account takeover • The recovery journey and escalation through professional networks • Three essential security measures: 2FA, passkeys and backup codes This story is not about fear. It is about awareness, practical action and understanding how sophisticated attacks have become. The lesson is simple: five minutes of security setup can prevent four days of stress. Hey Doc—If you're looking for an au pair right now and wondering whether all the good candidates have disappeared into thin air, you're not imagining it.I've had several physician moms ask me how I find au pairs when the agency websites seem completely picked over. And since I'm currently searching for a new au pair myself, the timing felt perfect to pull back the curtain on exactly how I do it.This is not a conversation about choosing an agency or comparing program fees. This is about creating a process that keeps you organized, efficient, and significantly less likely to lose your mind during the search.Because if you're anything like me, you already have a career, a family, and approximately 47 other responsibilities. Spending hours scrolling through profiles only to forget who you've already contacted is not the best use of your time.In this episode, I'm sharing the system I built during our last search, the one that helped us find an amazing au pair who stayed with our family for years. You'll hear why I start outside the agency apps, how I organize candidates, where I actually find people, and the simple preparation that makes the entire process smoother. In this episode, I discuss:Why the au pair apps may not be the best place to start your searchThe simple organizational system that keeps candidates from slipping through the cracksHow I use Facebook groups strategically without getting trapped scrolling for hoursWhat information I track for every candidateThe message template that saves me time and helps start conversations quicklyWhy preparation matters more than most people realizeFinding childcare support shouldn't feel like a second full-time job.A little organization on the front end can save you hours of frustration later.

MedAxiom HeartTalk: Transforming Cardiovascular Care Together
In this MedAxiom HeartTalk, host Melanie Lawson, MS, sits down with Maureen Knechtel, DMSc, PA-C, academic coordinator and associate professor of physician assistant studies at Milligan University, and Jerry Blackwell, MD, MBA, FACC, president and CEO of MedAxiom. Their conversation explores what it takes to develop APPs with intention and set them up for long-term success.
Apple may begin removing existing apps that it considers stale, low-value, or unable to attract users. Also, Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe has called it "maybe the most important thing we've launched to date." And, with SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI all eyeing massive public debuts, the tech industry may soon have a new class of corporate overlords — and a new acronym to match. Since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has been banning social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X. Recently the government also extended the ban to Telegram, one of Russia's most popular messaging apps. It's cracking down on VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and it's introduced a new state-backed app called Max, which comes downloaded on any new phone. Authorities say these internet crackdowns are needed to “ensure security” and disrupt Ukrainian drones. But some say this is actually all about censorship - and that the government is trying to extend its control over the internet. So - how are these bans affecting Russians that rely on the internet everyday?BBC Monitoring journalist Clare Denning joins us to break down why the Kremlin is restricting access to the internet and how Russians are reacting to the crackdown.Instagram: @bbcwhatintheworld Email: whatintheworld@bbc.co.uk WhatsApp: +44 330 12 33 22 6 Presenter: Hannah Gelbart Producers: Julia Ross-Roy, Sarah Coop and Chelsea Coates Editor: Verity Wilde

Daniel Mahncke and Shawn O'Malley take a deep dive into Wix.com — the Israeli website-building platform whose investment case now turns on two of the most debated questions in the stock today: whether the generative-AI wave that lets anyone spin up a site from a text prompt is the end of Wix or whether Wix is too sticky, and whether the Base 44 acquisition — Wix's bet on AI-powered app generation — is the next leg of the story or a distraction from the SMB infrastructure business the company already dominates. IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: (00:00:00) Intro (00:01:32) How Wix was founded (00:21:35) Why clients keep using Wix (00:28:05) How much of WIX is actually vulnerable to AI (00:37:07) Why Wix is more sticky than it seems (00:38:24) Whether vibecoding is likely to disrupt drag-and-drop website building (00:46:54) Why Base44 could change the entire investment case (01:06:24) How Wix could survive and turn into a multibagger (01:09:21) Valuation discussion of Wix (01:13:26) Whether Shawn and Daniel add Wix to the Intrinsic Value Portfolio BOOKS AND RESOURCES Join the exclusive TIP Mastermind Community. Susie has another pretend enemy (pretenemy?), and despite the Hippocratic oath, she is claiming her doctor doing harm. Sarah wants to know what old ladies are supposed to wear these days because her cowboy chic situation isn't exactly couture, but she likes being comfy. We learn about a man who is suing Netflix for creating a movie that he claims is too similar to his life, even though they say any similarity is, you guessed it, purely coincidental. We discuss the Titan submersible and how the wife/mother of two of the victims claims she was given their "bodies" in a very disturbing form. We celebrate the ways Mariska Hargitay is making a difference for victims of assault. And we debate the virtues of living a "random" life with the help of an app.00:00 - Susie's Physical and Doctor Dislikes12:18 - Try the Best Bone Broth on the Planet15:02 - Sarah's Struggle with Modern Fashion Trends25:13 - Relax in Cozy Earth Pajamas and Bedding28:22 - The Tragic Story of Maldives Cave Divers36:41 - Diver Sues Netflix Over Life Story Adaptation40:53 - Disturbing Details from Titan Submersible Victim's Wife42:22 - Keep Track of your Finances with Rocket Money44:31 - Clearing Rape Kit Backlogs with Mariska Hargitay48:28 - Why Billionaires Chase More Money and Power54:05 - Debating the 'He's So Random' Life App58:55 - Reflecting on Doctors, Fashion, and RandomnessBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Head to https://cozyearth.com and use my code BRAINCANDY for an exclusive 20% off. My guest today is Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber. Before Uber, Dara ran Expedia for thirteen years. We start with why he took this job in 2017, and a big part of that story is Daniel Ek, who told him that life is not about happiness, it is about impact. We talk about what the chaos felt like on day one, and how his family leaving Iran when he was nine shaped the way he handles pressure today. We spend most of our time on autonomous vehicles and Uber's role as the demand aggregator in a world of physical AI. Dara explains why Uber is a supply-led company, what it will take to win, and why he expects many winners in AVs rather than one. We also discuss Uber's $10 billion in free cash flow, the push toward a single app for everything, and what he has learned from Allen & Co, Barry Diller and Reed Hastings.
