A reeleição de Carlos Vila Nova à primeira volta, com 55,94%, representa mais do que a continuidade na Presidência de São Tomé e Príncipe. Para o analista Olívio Diogo, o resultado traduz uma derrota política de Patrício Trovoada, fragiliza a liderança do ADI e abre caminho para uma reconfiguração do panorama partidário, num contexto marcado pela elevada abstenção e pelo desafio de restaurar a confiança nas instituições. RFI: Que leitura faz desta vitória de Carlos Vila Nova e do significado político deste resultado? Olívio Diogo: É preciso dizer que a primeira coisa de que se fala, quando se comenta esta eleição presidencial, é dar um grande parabéns ao povo são-tomense. O povo são-tomense mostrou, mais uma vez, de forma inequívoca, que é uma população que, apesar das dificuldades que enfrenta, é muito pacífica na forma como encara os resultados eleitorais. Foi, como disse e como manifestou a comunidade internacional, uma eleição que decorreu de forma transparente, livre e completamente pacífica. Este é o primeiro aspecto que devemos retirar destes resultados eleitorais. Este resultado revela claramente que o Presidente Carlos Vila Nova não foi avaliado eleitoralmente pelo seu mandato. O que aconteceu foi, sim, uma manifestação clara contra o antigo primeiro-ministro Patrício Trovoada, que indicou Nito d'Abreu como o seu candidato. A população disse claramente não a esse candidato. Disse claramente não à atitude e à posição de Patrício Trovoada em relação ao partido e ao país, nomeadamente ao seu constante afastamento do país e ao discurso que tem vindo a fazer. A população aproveitou esta eleição para manifestar o seu descontentamento relativamente a essa situação. Esta é uma derrota para o antigo primeiro-ministro Patrício Trovoada? Exactamente. Esta é uma derrota clara e inequívoca para Patrício Trovoada. A população que foi às urnas foi dizer-lhe claramente que esta é uma derrota política para ele. Nito d'Abreu é um candidato que não é do ADI, mas sim um candidato pessoal de Patrício Trovoada. Foi ele quem o indicou, sem consultar o partido, sem ouvir os órgãos competentes e sem permitir que o partido pudesse avaliar essa candidatura. Foi uma aposta exclusivamente sua e essa aposta saiu derrotada. Consequentemente, esta foi também uma derrota clara para Patrício Trovoada nestas eleições. O apoio de Patrício Trovoada a Nito d'Abreu pesou na derrota do candidato da ADI, o partido sai politicamente fragilizado? O partido sai muito fragilizado destas eleições. E a actual direcção do partido sai completamente fragilizada. É preciso dizer que este resultado vem reforçar a posição de Américo Ramos, que tem vindo a desenvolver todas as acções necessárias para assumir a direcção do partido. Ele sai bastante reforçado. Com este resultado eleitoral, Américo Ramos passa a ter todas as condições para assumir a liderança do partido, porque não acredito que o ADI continue a aceitar uma governação feita a partir do exterior, como Patrício Trovoada tem feito até agora. Ele encontra-se fora do país e continua a dirigir o partido. Isto não pode continuar. O partido não tem sustentabilidade nestas condições. É assim que estas eleições ficam marcadas: Carlos Vila Nova conquista um novo mandato e, simultaneamente, o ADI, sob a liderança de Patrício Trovoada, sai mais fragilizado. Penso que chegou o momento de as pessoas dizerem claramente que o ADI precisa de uma nova direcção, de uma nova liderança, de uma nova perspectiva e de uma nova metodologia de trabalho para o futuro. Será que, até Setembro, às próximas eleições, o ADI tem tempo para repensar e até mesmo reestruturar o partido? Não, essa reestruturação já tem vindo a ser desencadeada. É preciso perceber uma coisa: o Patrício Trovoada continua a ser presidente do partido, mas não está no país. Ele não foi obrigado a sair nem pediu asilo político; saiu por sua livre vontade. Ainda assim, pretende continuar a conduzir o partido para as eleições a partir do exterior. Neste momento, o presidente do partido praticamente abandonou a sua presença no país, continuando, no entanto, a dirigir o ADI a partir de fora. Esta forma de governação do partido, que considero uma situação de ingovernabilidade, leva naturalmente a um reajuste da estrutura partidária e da própria liderança. É preciso dizer também que muitos militantes do ADI que apoiavam Patrício Trovoada sentiram-se lesados pelo facto de ele ter escolhido Nito d'Abreu, uma personalidade sem trajectória política relevante e sem experiência significativa na administração pública, para candidato à Presidência da República. Esse factor também contribuiu para que este resultado eleitoral se verificasse.  É preciso também falar da questão da abstenção. Temos de ser muito claros relativamente a esse aspecto. Há dois ou três fatores que podem explicar a elevada abstenção nestas eleições; O primeiro tem naturalmente a ver com a imigração. Muitas pessoas que emigraram continuam inscritas nos cadernos eleitorais. Como sabe, esta foi a primeira eleição em que não houve um processo tradicional de inscrição eleitoral. A actualização foi feita automaticamente com base nos dados do registo civil. Assim, todos os cidadãos que já tinham completado 18 anos passaram automaticamente a integrar os cadernos eleitorais e a poder exercer o seu direito de voto. Este aspeto é importante porque muitas das pessoas emigradas ainda não actualizaram os seus dados, permanecendo inscritas, embora já não residam no país. Outro factor importante é o facto de muitas pessoas, neste momento, não se identificarem com os políticos do país. Cada vez mais se verifica um afastamento entre os cidadãos e a classe política. Isso ficou também evidente nestas eleições. As pessoas deixaram de acreditar na forma como os políticos actuam e encontraram na abstenção uma forma de manifestar esse descontentamento. Foi isso que também aconteceu. Esta reduzida afluência às urnas pode retirar força política à vitória de Carlos Vila Nova? Não creio que isso não lhe retire força política. Não lhe retira força política por uma razão muito simples: a partir do momento em que é eleito Presidente da República, passa a exercer todas as funções que a Constituição lhe atribui. Foi eleito Presidente da República e, independentemente da taxa de abstenção, exercerá plenamente essas funções. Portanto, a abstenção não lhe retira legitimidade nem força política. Contudo, deve levá-lo a reflectir sobre aquilo que foi a sua actuação durante os últimos cinco anos. A sua governação pode, efectivamente, ter contribuído para que uma parte significativa do eleitorado optasse pela abstenção. Que desafios mais urgentes esperam agora Carlos Vila Nova neste segundo mandato, tanto no plano interno como nas relações internacionais? O primeiro desafio que Carlos Vila Nova tem, no meu entender, é perceber rapidamente que a sua eleição aconteceu ontem. Todas as alianças políticas que fez com os outros partidos para efeitos da sua candidatura terminaram com o acto eleitoral. A partir do momento em que tomar posse, vai ser o Presidente de todos os são-tomenses. Todos os cidadãos devem ser tratados da mesma forma, independentemente da sua opção política. Esse é o primeiro grande desafio. O segundo desafio prende-se com as relações bilaterais do país. As nossas relações internacionais têm estado bastante fragilizadas ao longo dos últimos tempos, sobretudo com países como Angola, Portugal e outros parceiros estratégicos. É importante que Carlos Vila Nova encontre mecanismos para reforçar essas relações, porque, como sabemos, São Tomé e Príncipe é um país insular, sem ligações terrestres a qualquer outro Estado. Por isso, é fundamental fortalecer as relações bilaterais com os nossos parceiros internacionais, para que delas resultem benefícios concretos para o desenvolvimento do país e para a melhoria das condições de vida da população. Outro grande desafio para Carlos Vila Nova vai ser transmitir uma imagem de tranquilidade e de unidade nacional. Durante esta campanha eleitoral assistiu-se à divulgação de mensagens marcadas pelo ódio, pela raiva e até por intenções de vingança. Tudo isso deve agora ser ultrapassado. Somos todos são-tomenses e aquilo que todos desejamos é que o nosso país continue a melhorar, para que todos possam viver felizes nesta terra, que é um verdadeiro paraíso. Falava da campanha, marcada por crispação política, por boicotes e também por desinformação. Que sinais considera importantes observar nos próximos dias para avaliar a estabilidade política e institucional de São Tomé e Príncipe? É verdade que houve boicotes e, como referi, esses boicotes podem estar relacionados com os níveis de abstenção. Trata-se de manifestações de descontentamento por parte da população, que não devem ser ignoradas. O Presidente da República terá de encontrar um espaço de diálogo apropriado para transmitir uma mensagem clara aos cidadãos, restaurando a confiança nas instituições políticas, nos partidos e na própria Presidência da República. Esse será também um passo importante para reforçar a estabilidade política e institucional do país. Esta eleição pode representar o fim de um ciclo político e dar início a uma nova configuração do poder em São Tomé e Príncipe? Sim, naturalmente. Aquilo que aconteceu nestas eleições aponta para uma nova configuração do mosaico político e eleitoral em São Tomé e Príncipe. Neste momento, temos o MCI, partido liderado por Delfim Neves, que, na minha perspectiva, saiu politicamente reforçado. O candidato apoiado por este partido obteve um desempenho superior ao que muitos esperavam. É importante recordar que a candidatura de Carlos Vila Nova contou com o apoio de várias forças políticas e que, no próprio ADI, muitos dirigentes e militantes não apoiaram de forma clara a candidatura de Nito d'Abreu. Poucos foram os que manifestaram um apoio efectivo ao candidato, o que também é reflexo do trabalho político desenvolvido pelo MCI e pelos restantes partidos que apoiaram Carlos Vila Nova. Por outro lado, partidos como o MLSTP/PSD, o MDFM e outras forças políticas terão agora de fazer uma avaliação profunda da sua situação política. O MLSTP/PSD, como sabemos, atravessa também um momento de fragilidade, muito por causa da indefinição demonstrada ao longo deste processo eleitoral. Espera-se que consiga redefinir a sua posição e preparar-se para os próximos desafios políticos. Quanto ao ADI, a grande questão passa por saber que caminho vai seguir. Não sei se conseguirá renovar a sua liderança com Américo Ramos ou se continuará sob a direcção de Patrício Trovoada, que sofreu uma derrota política muito significativa nestas eleições. Se Patrício Trovoada continuar a liderar o partido, considero que será muito difícil evitar uma nova derrota nas próximas eleições legislativas.

Nada se compara à alegria de fazer ecoar o impacto que a vitória de Jesus tem no coração que se Lhe submete. Até a morte deixa de ser vista como um obstáculo intransponível! É verdadeiramente delicioso contribuir para que mais pessoas passem a ter a ajustada imagem de “Deus Salvador”. Vendo-O como O amigo gracioso. O Único que está sempre pronto para escutar pacientemente. Aquele que perdoa e transforma corações rebeldes. Sim, o Seu amor precisa de ser conhecido por toda a gente. Did the Aztecs have a concept of virtue? In this episode, we dive into a lively scholarly debate over the Nawatl phrase kwalli and yektli ("good" and "right") and whether it can properly be translated as "virtue." Imagine a dark warehouse. Racks and racks of devices with wires, tubes, and electronics sticking out. The next AI data center? No. This is Lila Sciences‘ dream for the future of science. A dark warehouse full of AI-guided robotics and lab equipment, cranking out new experiments 24/7, building toward a scientific superintelligence.Their automated lab is almost hypnotizing to watch. They have floating plates zipping around on Wall-E-esque tracks, used vision-language models to control Windows 95 boxes, and created the world's largest collection of voided warranties. In the process they've built a massive library of scientific reasoning tokens. Over 10 trillion of them, all experimentally validated.No warranties were voided in the making of this videoTo say Lila is ambitious is an understatement. Their goal is a scientific superintelligence wired directly into the wet lab. They are all in on the bitter lesson, and the thesis follows from it: a lab is an infinite token generator. Produce data at scale, and the synergies give you a general reasoner that can tackle any scientific problem. They are committing hard. Biology, chemistry, drug discovery, and materials science, all at the same time. Not sequences. Experimentally verified reasoning traces, a kind of data that Andy argues exists on the internet in quantities that round to zero.* Breadth as a path to depth. Small molecule chemistry priors transferring to metal organic frameworks for carbon capture, and the claim that the general model beats domain-specific models sample for sample.* If you have the data, what do you need the model for? Sri Kosuri's koan about the ML-for-drug-discovery business model, and Andy's answer: the coding model got better because it also read Shakespeare and carnitas recipes.* The serendipity they want to automate. Emily Whitehead survived the first pediatric CAR-T cure only because the doctor treating her happened to know, from pediatric arthritis, which antibody would blunt her IL-6 response. Roll that dice again and you probably lose her. Breadth is how you stop depending on luck.* Move 37 for catalysts. Model suggestions for platinum-group-free electrocatalysts that went from boring, to what a 40-paper expert called stupid, to the best performers they have made.* Six months to in vivo CAR-T data in non-human primates, and the zero-FTE virtual startup commercial model that fell out of it. For context on why that number is startling, AbbVie paid $2.1B for Capstan on the strength of preclinical in vivo CAR-T data.* You cannot have scientific superintelligence if you are just a good test taker. Ken Stanley, who wrote Why Greatness Cannot Be Planned, runs open-endedness at Lila. RL at scale gives you a ruthlessly Vulcan problem solver. Machine creativity is a different thing, and it is the part nobody has solved.* The chain of thought is an unreliable narrator. The model reasons in latent space and only emits tokens. Sometimes it skips the experiment entirely and is still right. So how much do you trust the reasoning versus the verifier?* Reward hacking when the rollout is physical. Chains of thought that collapse into repetition, and a model that got annoyed and swore at the scientist who kept asking it to redo a plate map. What happens when a pathological loop has a wet lab inside it?* The bittersweet lesson. Rafa's inversion of the bitter lesson: in AI, scaling is a roadmap. In materials, scaling is a filter, because only the things that scale end up mattering.* Not your typical Flagship company. Why a famously single-asset biotech incubator spun out a platform bet, and Andy's line that if Lila called itself a biopharma it would have a top-three GPU cluster.* Bottlenecks they would remove by fiat. Ron Hubbard, the science fiction novelist who founded Scientology, and the claim from his own eldest son — Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, Jr., who left the church in 1959 and renamed himself Ronald DeWolf — that black magic sat at the inner core of the religion. In a 1983 Penthouse interview, DeWolf described a father deeply involved in the occult who did not worship Satan so much as believe he was Satan, the Beast 666 incarnate. The story runs through Hubbard's obsession with Aleister Crowley and the Ordo Templi Orientis, the "moonchild" ritual he and rocket scientist Jack Parsons attempted in Pasadena to conceive an astral child and bring the goddess Babalon into the world, the poltergeist activity that followed at the Parsons house, the alleged OT Level VIII passage in which Hubbard claimed the Antichrist mantle for himself, the numerology hidden in the New Era logo's two sixty-degree triangles, and the shared contempt both Hubbard and Crowley held for psychoanalysis even as both leaned on hypnosis and past-life regression to control their followers.From there the episode digs into Jack Parsons himself — the college-dropout chemist who invented solid rocket fuel, helped found the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and claimed to have summoned Satan at thirteen. Drawing on John Carter's Sex and Rockets: The Occult World of Jack Parsons and Lawrence Wright's Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief, the story follows Parsons through the Pasadena mansion he filled with pagans, artists, and writers; the bonfires that drew police reports from the neighbors; the arrival of Hubbard, who slept with Parsons' girlfriend Betty; the red-headed artist Marjorie Cameron, whom both men decided was Babalon made flesh; Crowley's own disgust at the pair, whom he dismissed as goats in a letter; and the boat-buying scheme in Florida that cost Parsons his last twenty thousand dollars. Parsons died in 1952 handling explosives on his front porch, two years after Dianetics made Hubbard famous.Next comes the Surrency haunting, one of the most heavily witnessed poltergeist cases on record. In October of 1872, sawmill operator Allen Surrency returned to his two-story farmhouse on the edge of the Altamaha River Swamp in Georgia to find tumblers sliding off the slab, crockery shattering on the floor, and bricks, irons, and potatoes falling through the rooms of his own house. The activity never let up: clocks spinning backward, mirrors exploding, utensils bending in the family's hands, a pan of biscuits levitating out of the oven and flying out the back door, hot bricks raining down on his daughter Clementine, an andiron chasing his son across the room and then returning itself to the fireplace. Hundreds of visitors — reporters and a minister among them — watched objects fly in plain view. The haunting followed the family when they moved away, stopped abruptly with Allen's death in 1877, and the house burned down in 1925, leaving nothing behind but the orb of light still reported along the town's railway tracks.The episode then turns to Peter Binsfeld, the sixteenth-century German witch hunter whose enthusiasm for torture was matched by his taste for taxonomy. His De confessionibus maleficorum et sagarum laid out the Seven Princes of Hell — Lucifer for pride, Beelzebub for gluttony, Satan for wrath, Belphegor for sloth, Mammon for greed, Asmodeus for lust, and Leviathan for envy — and argued that each living person is shadowed by a personal demon who knows their habits intimately, the dark counterpart to a guardian angel. Binsfeld held that women were more prone to witchcraft, that girls under twelve and boys under fourteen were usually too young to be guilty, and that anyone who claimed to have seen a witch shapeshift had been deceived by the Devil.The unsolved death of British ufologist Max Spiers follows. Spiers died in Poland on July 16, 2016, days before a scheduled conspiracy conference appearance and shortly after reportedly vomiting two liters of black liquid, having texted his mother that he was in trouble and to investigate if anything happened to him. His death was ruled natural causes. At a pre-inquest review at Guildhall in Sandwich, Kent, in August of 2018, lawyers for his mother Vanessa Bates revealed that his laptop had been wiped clean and his phone's SIM card erased or removed before being returned to the family, with Spiers found dead on the couch of his girlfriend Monika Duval and the four-day inquest set for the Archbishops Palace in Maidstone.The episode closes at Dugway Proving Ground, the 800,000-acre Utah military installation that UFO researchers call Area 52. Founded during the second World War for biological and chemical weapons work, Dugway is best known for the 1968 VX nerve agent test that drifted into Skull Valley and killed thousands of sheep, an incident the Army compensated farmers for without accepting blame. Freedom of Information requests filed by MuckRock founder Michael Morisy surfaced records of entomological munitions — mosquitoes loaded with what the Army called inert pathogens and released over American civilian populations — and of soldiers used as test subjects. The story takes in the 2011 disappearance of Joseph Bushling, whose empty car, hat, and shoes turned up sixty-five miles from the main gate with no body ever found; the runway in the base's southern expansion that never appears on Dugway's own maps; Lockheed engineer Don Phillips and former CEO Ben Rich on flying saucer technology; and Steven Greer's claim in The Sirius Project that trillions in defense funding has been siphoned into a shadow government beyond the reach of the Department of Defense.
