The J423 Community Band from Vienna came to Phil's studio to spread the message of fellowship, music, and spiritual faith. We talked about songwriting, J423, and all the members which came to be a part of this episode! We've never had this many people on the show at once.
Ka The Shaking Gravel was in the studio working on their upcoming EP when I asked if they felt like recording an episode of the Open Phil Broadcast. This is, literally, the most spontaneous episode we've ever done.
This month two stars from the underground scene (literally, the subway) teleported into the studio to slay down some tracks. No edits. No re-takes. Tracked live at SkyStudio.at by Phil, please enjoy Sun State of Mind. We discuss what it's like to play for random people in train stations and how they have evolved during the pandemic.

This month Hayden Arp came by the studio and played some of his mesmerising songs. We talked about his move to Austria and what it's like working as a professional musician in a new country.
Local Vienna songwriters We Like Women dropped by SkyStudio this month. For this episode we attempted to use as many Austrian Audio microphones as we could muster up. Main vocals we recorded using the OC818, backing vocals using the OD505. We also put our other OC818 on the supporting guitar. Our host Phil also used the OD505 for this episode, and loved it!
This month the new young band DuoLia. came by SkyStudio and blew us away with the heartfelt songs and melodies. We think this is one of the best acts we've seen in a long long time in this town.

Michael Seyfried has been hosting jazz sessions at Tunnel Vienna Live for years. On a monthly basis he features a small group of jazz musicians with himself on drums, to kick off the evening. This January it happened behind closed doors, as a web-based live stream. He stopped by the studio the next day to give us his take on playing without an audience.
Jacky from OGrito told me I have to check out Jozephin. What better way to check them out than to simply trust her and ask them to drop by the studio for a session. They brought a few fans and we had an epic evening.
Even If came over to record some songs, and when we were done we decided why should just keep the mics setup and record another episode of the Open Phil Broadcast together. It was late. We all had just finished several hours of recording video and audio, and we decided to just have some fun and talk about music again (and, of course, play some songs).
This month Nadia Stix joins us play some songs and to discuss surviving lockdown on a cruise ship and her crowdfunding for her upcoming album. She is joined on guitar by Gabriel Moraes.
After a long break thanks to a certain pesky virus, a couple of brave musicians came to the studio to share some beautiful songs with us. It's good to back back.
Our last concert went so well, we decided to change the format and continue doing live shows with an audience and integrate the interview. This time we present underground Vienna singer-songwriter MojoKoko!
Southern Peaks dropped by our official grand opening at SkyStudio and blessed us with a lovely set of music. Of course we decided to record a bit of an interview and share it with you all!

From co-host on our show to staring in her own 60s cover band, Lill Oehl finally finds her way back to us while blowing us away with her gripping voice and dashing personality. She introduces us to her friends in this remarkable 60s cover band Blonde on Blonde.
This band was certainly one of the big highlights of our show until now. They came into our studio and recorded five songs live. Seven musicians, horns, accordion, keyboard, acoustic, electric, bass and drums... they just knocked me back in my chair and I knew I needed to stay close to this band. They decided to burn the recording session onto compact discs and hand them out at shows. It wasn't long until the radio station caught on and started playing them. Now, they're coming back to record an album. We love these guys!
In this episode we look at three different artists and what they have recorded at our in-house recording studio, SkyStudio.
In February of 2019 we had Southern Peaks drop by SkyStudio and also The Candy Experience. It was great fun to talk to them and are happy to finally share this episode with the world 15 months later after it originally aired on Radio Orange in Vienna.
Lisa Kolonovits blew us away a few months back with her songs and covers. We were equally amazed by Session In Her Room. Sorry for taking so long to finally post this episode! Here it is…
Dylan Goff and Even If stopped by this month to check out our new Studio B at Sky Studio. We had just finished installing everything and we setup the mics and hit record. These are some of the best recordings we have ever created for this radio show. We were over-the-moon with happiness and goosebumps.
Olivia Haynes and Medicine for Grizzlies were our guests this November at Sky Studio. Olivia's charm and breathtaking voice blew us away while she strummed away at her Ukulele making it all look east. Meanwhile Liz sat down with Medicine for Grizzles who weren't expecting to play some songs using our drum set. We had a spontaneous party. You're invited.

This episode of The Open Phil Broadcast we feature Kim Tamara and Ranul Heinzberg with special guest Boxer John who spontaneously stopped by to talk about his new record.
Ines Perndorfer and MojoKoko are both female songwriters living in Vienna. Since this recording, the songwriting scene in Vienna has even developed as much to include. an all-female open mic, obscurely hosted by Open Phil regular Wolf Morrison. Ines Perndorfer exploded onto the scene briefly after moving to Vienna with her poppy love-jams, while MojoKoko has been secretly winning over fans with her words and inventive melodies for the past few years.
This month we had the privilege of being invited to Siren Call's secret hideout, which they have all kinds of fancy gear which they used to help produce the first half of our segment. You may think you are listening to professionally recorded audio, and well… you are… which they played/recorded for us LIVE! For the second half, we head back to Radio Orange to meet up with Wolf Morrison, who just got back from the premiere of his new web-movie “Satan's Girls”.
This month we are thrilled to present one of the best trios to ever grace our open stage, Alpine Dweller! Their soundscape is breath-taking and they were a pleasure to interview as well (interview is in German, however). The second half of the program (in English) newcomer to the scene Estef shares her remarkably original work with us and we were both smitten with her story.
This month, Phil invited two new friends from Berlin to play at a very special Open Phil session at Cafe Cobenzl. After an epic Sunday afternoon with many surprising interactions, we decided we had to commemorate the afternoon by heading down to the station and recording this broadcast.
This month we had the privilege of recording at Boxer John's studio The Music Box in Vienna, where we met with The David Stellner Duo and talked about their sessions record Die Wandervögel. For the second half we met newcomer Adrian Lüssing at Radio Orange and had a listen to some new songs he is working on.
This month Lill is off nailing her final exams while Phil gets together with two greats. Simon Lewis and Onk Lou are two extraordinary musicians that used to come to Open Phil back when we first started. Both have progressed in their musical careers and are now working as full-time musicians and signed with an Austrian label. This month we look up to two Open Phil artists budding into musical stars. It still feels like we're all just hanging out in our living room, though.
This is the second instalment of The Open Phil Broadcast… the first episode to get air-time on Radio Orange in Vienna. We were lucky to work with Boxer John from The Vintage Underground who helped us a bit to make this episode as good as possible. We're still working hard to get better. This episode features guests Isaac Thompson and Lina Lou. We hope you enjoy it!
This is our first episode ever recorded with local underground music legend iO!. Recordings of iO! are a rare thing as he has still never published an album. We were grateful he helped us kick off our show. This is the only episode that never aired on Radio Orange, and we were still pretty much figuring out what we were doing.
