Being stuck in survival mode is to be a human being. Survival starts at birth, you have needs to be fulfilled or you won't survive. Survival equals attachment. A cosmic connection utilizing spiritual intelligence has absolutely NOTHING to do with survival. Accessing it and moving into love and nonattachment is a beautiful commitment to thriving. Holding on to what you fear losing, will keep you in survival and therefore anxious, numb or depressed. The spiritual connection is always available, yet humans do the same shit, different day or year. And we haven't evolved internally from survival mode. 426 - A Prairie-Dweller Moves North A lump of gray fur in the middle of the trail pulled us up short. The small mammal was about the size of a gray squirrel, but with cute, round ears tucked below their silhouette. I'd never seen a Franklin's ground squirrel before! On various websites I read that these are a species of tallgrass prairies, although they've declined as the prairies have declined. In the southeastern part of their range the squirrels are barely hanging on in grassy roadsides and railroad right-of-ways—the same places where a few native plants have escaped the plow. Several sources suggested that they belong only in the southern and western portions of Minnesota. So what was this little prairie dweller doing in Northeastern Minnesota?

Send us Fan MailMy guest this week is the wonderful Brianna Madia. Back in 2016, with her then husband and her dogs, Brianna moved into their 1990 Ford van and started sharing her life on Instagram. Her following grew quickly and she became one of the first van life influencers — which has led to brand deals and three book deals — as people became fascinated with her colourful, interesting and adventurous life, much of which was spent in the desert in deepest darkest Utah. Then, one fateful day, one of her beloved dogs, Dagwood, was caught under the wheel of their van in a tragic accident, with her ex-husband at the wheel and her in the passenger seat. They drove 6 hours to get Dagwood to a vetinary hospital to save him. In the meantime, Brianna's Mum started a Go Fund Me page to help with the extortionate cost of the vet bills, and Brianna's generous followers kindly covered the cost; however, in an attempt to protect her ex, she didn't initially tell her followers that it was him at the wheel. Dagwood survived, but the whole thing was the beginning of the end of her relationship, as well as the start of a pretty dark phase in her life. Following their split, Brianna subsequently came clean about the fact that her ex had been driving the van when Dagwood was run over, and what followed was a hate campaign of vitriol and bullying that saw an entire community form on Reddit purely to take her down - resulting in losing several brand deals. The worst thing was that Brianna discovered that her ex had actually joined the Reddit thread and was fueling the fire of all of this hate. Brianna's brilliant new book, Homesick Nomad, is the story of what followed, including a new - but unconventional - relationship with a man called William. Brianna, who is childfree by choice, still lives in her trailer in the desert in Utah, while William lives in Oregon. In our conversation we talk about so many things including some of what she went through with regards the hate she received and essentially being cancelled on the internet, her love of solitude, her choice to not have kids, and last but not least her beloved dogs, including Dagwood who sadly passed in November last year. In this episode, Micah and Jason discuss the latest stories from the world of archaeology. New discoveries from Turkey's Karahantepe, followed by a toxic surprise in a 2000-year-old Scythian tomb, and finally a new enigmatic discovery from Crete. With a degree from the University of Arkansas, he works in the nonprofit sector while educating others on Native sites and artifacts through his respectful collection.  He collaborates with the Chickamauga Nation—alongside Medal Chief Justin Flanagan, Antler Chief Jimmy Kersh, and archaeologist Dr. David Jurney—to document ancestral villages, burials, and sacred sites. This effort intensified after the 2024 proposal for a 3,000-bed state prison in Franklin County, Arkansas, which is on ancestral ground. His platform has also partnered with the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville, Arkansas, on video content. He was the son of Eutropius, a prominent senator, and Theodora, who lived in Constantinople. At the age of twelve, he secretly fled his home, taking nothing but a Gospel book with him. Entering the Monastery of the Unsleeping Ones in the City, he gave himself up with fervor to a life of prayer, self-denial and obedience. For three years he ate only on Sundays after taking communion, and became so thin and haggard that he bore no resemblance to the young nobleman who had entered the monastery.   Tormented by longing to see his parents, but unwilling to give up the ascetic struggle, he left the monastery with his Abbot's blessing, dressed in beggar's rags, and took up residence in a poor hut near the gate of his parents' house. Here he lived, mocked by those who had once been his servants and despised by his own parents, who no longer recognized him.   After three years, Christ appeared to him and told him that his end was drawing near, and that in three days angels would come to take him home. John sent a message to his parents, asking them to visit his hut. In perplexity, they came, and John, showing them the Gospel book that they had given him as a child, revealed to them that he was their son, and that he was about to die. They embraced him, rejoicing at their reunion but weeping for his departure from this life. Immediately, he gave back his soul to God.   The whole City of Constantinople was stirred by the story, and great crowds came to John's burial service. A church was later built on the site of his hut, and many miracles were wrought there through the Saint's prayers.
