Ireland's cybersecurity sector delivered its strongest year in 2024, closing 40% more VC deals than in 2023 while European cybersecurity funding fell 9.5%, according to a new report powered by PitchBook data and published by Enterprise Ireland. This performance helped Ireland maintain its position as first or second in Europe for cybersecurity VC deal count per capita every year since 2017. Enterprise Ireland participated in more than three-quarters of all deals over the past decade, making it Europe's leading cybersecurity investor by deal count. This sustained ecosystem support has enabled Irish cybersecurity companies to launch, scale rapidly and attract world-class global investors - most recently demonstrated by Tines' €120.7 million Series C raise in Q1 2025, which was led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, one of the largest venture rounds ever secured by an Irish-founded company. Key highlights from the report: • Since 2014, Irish cybersecurity companies have raised over €450 million across more than 100 VC transactions. • Irish firms such as Tines, Siren, UrbanFox, Cytidel and Vaultree are winning global enterprise and government clients with automation workflow, investigative intelligence, AI-driven threat detection, vulnerability prioritisation and fully encrypted data-in-use solutions. • Ireland is home to over 140 pure-play cybersecurity companies and has ranked first or second in Europe for cybersecurity VC deal count per capita every year since 2017. • The sector currently employs more than 8,100 professionals, projected to grow to 17,000 by 2030. Synesthesia also offers two eye-opening covers: Tim Buckley's “Song to the Siren” and Natalie Merchant's “This House Is On Fire.” The former is a moody take on the original, highlighting Azam's octave jumping vocal prowess, while the latter transforms Merchant's languid calypso beat into a propulsive song with Middle Eastern flourishes.  “My music is an invitation to step beyond the confines of time, place, and the fragile vessel of flesh into a universe without borders,” Azam explains. “I want the listener to feel carried into the vastness of the ethereal, where freedom breathes, and every note reveals our part in a greater design. Established in 2013, Berkshire's Siren Craft Brew has rightfully grown to become one of the most well-respected modern breweries in the United Kingdom.We at Pellicle have been lucky to have followed Siren's journey since pretty much the beginning—I even hosted a tasting with founder Darron Anley at the Duke's Head Pub in Highgate all the way back in 2015. Siren produced four different beers for this year's edition, and we diligently produced four different stories about each of them, and the hop they focused on.Mark Dredge donned his lager hat once again, and told us the story of the sublimely elegant noble hop, Saaz, from the Czech Republic. In her Pellicle debut, Robyn Gilmour wrote about Australia's fantastic Galaxy—a hop with something of a chequered past that is finally beginning to come back into its own. Katie Mather told us a story from the other side of the Tasman Sea, about one of modern beer's darling hops, Nelson Sauvin. Last but not least, Lily Waite-Marsden dug into the more recent story of Strata, one of the most exciting young hops on the market today.But we weren't done there. Dr. Nicole Paulk is the CEO, Founder, and President of Siren Biotechnology and has dedicated her career to advancing the field of gene therapy. At the age of 9, Megan began rhythmic gymnastics and soon became the national silver medalist after which qualified her to compete at the 2003 Pan American Games and World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships as part of Team Canada. Following her retirement from rhythmic gymnastics, Megan started taking dance lessons while attending the University of British Columbia where she attained her degree in business. After graduating, Megan moved to Los Angeles to continue dancing and study acting. Since then, she has studied with numerous coaches at studios including Joe Palese at The Actors Space, Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB Theatre), Andrew McIlroy at McIlroy & Associates, Crystal Lowe at VADA, Crichlow Actors' Studio, Lyric School of Acting, and more. It was then that she fell in love with acting and has since been cast in the feature films The Before Time, Other Halves, and Alison's Choice as well as several television series including iZombie, Kung Fu, Legends of Tomorrow, and Siren.In 2016 Megan began adding martial arts to her training and in combination with her rhythmic gymnastics and dance background, was able to pursue a career as a stunt performer alongside acting. Over the years she has been given the opportunity to perform as the lead stunt double for Olivia Liang (CW Kung Fu), Haruka Abe and Ursula Corbero (Snake Eyes), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Madeline), Chelsea Zhang (DC Titans), and others.
