Buchempfehlungen sind eine Unmöglichkeit und zu unterlassen! Es gibt 170 Millionen Buchtitel, aktuell, und jedes Jahr kommen 2,2 Millionen hinzu. Es gibt 8,3 Milliarden Menschen auf der Welt und jeder ist dem anderen fremd. Wie kann man da auf die Idee kommen, jemand könne jemandem anderen halbwegs kompetent sagen, was er als nächstes lesen solle? Jeder weiß das und alle ignorieren es.Spätkapitalistischen Wirtschaftsunternehmen verzeiht man das Generve noch, ihr einziger Existenzgrund ist, Dir S**t zu verkaufen. Literaturnewsletter und -podcasts sind da schon grenzwertiger, wie viel Sendungsbewusstsein ist zu viel Sendungsbewusstsein? Jedes. Immerhin ist das Abonnement freiwillig. Aber Freunde sollten es besser wissen. Und dennoch empfiehlt unser ehemaliger Rezensent für das Studio B, Heiko Schramm, mir unerschrocken immer wieder Bücher, die sicher hervorragend, nützlich und vergnüglich sind, wenn man, sagen wir, vorhat, einen mittelgroßen Karibikstaat geheimdienstlich zu unterwandern oder, sicher auch nützlich zu wissen, als Außenminister der Vereinigten Staaten 3-Letter-Word-Agencies gegeneinander ausspielen möchte. Kurz, ich bin begeistert, es wärmt mir das Herz, dass mir zugetraut wird, den Nahostfriedensprozess entscheidend voranzubringen, aber mir fehlt einfach die Zeit, mich in die oft kiloschweren Werke einzuarbeiten; der Mord an JFK bleibt vorerst ungeklärt.Entsprechend erfreut und reserviert war ich, als Mr. Schramm mir vor meiner Exkursion nach Japan zwei Bücher auf die Leseliste setzte, die ich bitte in Asien beginnen möge. Kein “vielleicht”, kein “wenn es passt”, es war eine Anweisung, der ich besser Folge leiste. Immerhin waren die Titel japanisch, die Autoren bekannt:“Shibumi” von Trevanian (Das Pseudonym von Rodney William Whitaker, einem Mid-Century Bestsellerautor)und“Satori” von Don Winslow, genau dem, der Untertitel lautet “A Novel based on Trevanian's Shibumi” - interessant.“Shibumi” fängt spektakulär an. Heftig überzeichnetes CIA-Personal - der Veteran, Zigarre im Mundwinkel; der intrigierende Chef mit seinem an seinen Rockzipfeln hängenden Assistent, jedes Wort mitschreibend - werten eine “Aktion” aus. Auf einem Flughafen in Rom gab es eine Schießerei und wir verstehen die Worte, aber nicht wirklich den Zusammenhang - Geheimdienste halt. Zunächst werden zwei Israelis erschossen, dann die Schützen, die Japaner sind (?) aber irgendwie für die PLO arbeiten und dann doch für die CIA und wiederum von derselben erledigt werden, inklusive zwei, drei italienischen Kindern und Opas. Krass. Was geht ab?!Unklar. Was nicht an der Beschreibung liegt. Die ist brillant, vorstellbar, actionorientiert und trotz des vielen Blutes irgendwie fast “leicht”. Wir sehen das ganze aus den Augen der beteiligten Agenten, die das wiederum auf einem richtigen Zelluloidfilm sehen, aufgenommen von CIA-Agenten speziell für das Debriefing. Das gibt uns einen ersten Hinweis auf die Ära, in der wir uns befinden. Da ich wie immer komplett ahnungslos ins Buch gegangen bin, ist für mich noch unklar, wann es geschrieben wurde. Der erste Hinweis sind die sehr “Achtziger”-Meinungen des Veteranen-Agenten hinsichtlich des ihm zugeteilten Wingman. Dieser ist der Sohn eines Palästinenserführers, er wird im gesamten Buch als “Ziegenhüter” beschrieben werden. Das geht heute natürlich nicht mehr. Nicht weil heutzutage Rassismus gecancelt ist, sondern weil ein solch offensichtlicher Sarkasmus heute nicht mehr funktioniert. Entgegen der allgemeinen Annahme ist die Ursache aber nicht, dass wir jetzt alle supersensibel sind oder gar woke, sondern weil spätestens seit 9/11 antimuslimischer Rassismus hoffähig geworden ist und als Reaktion darauf ein solcher Sarkasmus gekennzeichnet werden muss, in rot, plus Warnung auf dem Cover und Herausgabe des Buches an Deutsche Linke nur gegen Ausweis. Trevanian, als Meister der Ironie, ist dankbarerweise in 2005 gestorben und musste den ganzen Quatsch nicht mehr miterleben, wir, als Leserinnen eines Buches aus 1981, müssen uns erst wieder einarbeiten. Die Ironie ist nicht nur an der offensichtlich übertriebenen Wortwahl zu erkennen, Trevanian legt seinem weltgewandten und weit rumgekommenen Haupthelden starke Thesen zu allen möglichen internationalen Akteuren in den Mund, jeder bekommt sein Fett weg.Bis der Japanschwerpunkt, wegen dessem mir das Buch ins Handgepäck beordert wurde, ins Spiel kommt, vergehen ein paar Seiten und zwar bis unser Protagonist, Mr. Hel (ein L) eingeführt wird. Das traf sich, kam doch auch ich erst recht spät in Japan zum Lesen und so koinzidierte die Jugend von Mr. Hel, als Sohn einer Russin und eines Deutschen, aufwachsend im Japan der späten 2. Weltkriegsjahre (mit den bekannten verheerenden Auswirkungen) mit meiner Reise durch die Stätten ebendieser Geschichte, kulminierend mit einem Besuch des Friedensmuseums in Hiroshima just zu dem Zeitpunkt, als im Buch die erste Liebe von Mr. Hel dahin zu ihren Eltern zurückkehrt, Anfang August 1945. Das wirkt.Beschrieben wird im Roman, seltsam schwebend zwischen Action und Betrachtung, die Suche eines weißen, kulturellen Japaners nach Shibumi. Shibumi ist eines dieser klassischen unübersetzbaren japanischen Worte, die darauf hinauslaufen, dass Du am Ende vor deinem Steingarten im Regen sitzt und meditierst.Bis er diesen Zustand findet, muss Nicolai Hel irgendwie Geld verdienen und, ausgebildet in exotischen Kampfkünsten, dem Brettspiel Go und gesegnet mit einer (minderen) Superpower, beschließt er, Terroristen zu jagen. Das macht er gegen Geld, aber, wenn es ihm in die Moral passt, auch Pro Bono. Dass er dabei einer erklecklichen Zahl von Akteuren auf die Füße tritt, kommt mit dem Terrain und, wie er selbst bemerkt, hat er eine Menge negatives Karma angehäuft. Zum Killen braucht es neben Geschick auch Glück und das hält nicht ewig, weshalb Nico mit fünfzig im Ruhestand ist und ein altes Schloss im Baskenland renovierend um einen japanischen Garten erweitert, was man so macht, als Auftragsmörder a.D. Aber natürlich ist das nicht das Ende des Romans, womit die Spoiler enden.Das alles ist genauso leicht geschrieben wie hier rezensiert, hier wird nicht viel ernst genommen und die Story eher zum Anlass, das ganze Geheimdienstgewerbe samt ihrer staatlichen Auftraggeber zu kommentieren, auszulachen, zu kritisieren und dass da niemand lebend rauskommt, dafür ist Rodney William Whitaker aka Trevanian bekannt. Man amüsiert sich köstlich, es erinnert, nicht nur wegen der epikuräischen Einschübe, an Simmels “Es muss nicht immer Kaviar sein” und im Stil ein bisschen an die “Neal Carey”-Serie von Don Winslow, die, na was für ein Zufall, zur selben Zeit rauskam. Deren Markenzeichen waren eingeschobene dutzendseitenlange Essays zu eher obskuren Themen (Chinesische Geschichte, Punks in London). Das macht Trevanian auch gern, hier in “Shibumi” ist es das Höhlenklettern, im Englischen so schön “Spelunking” genannt, dass bis zum letzten Seilknoten beschrieben wird. Trevanian schafft es dann gerade noch, den Essay zum Thema mit einem späten Plotpoint sinnvoll zu machen, aber selbst ohne dieses Kunststück ist dieser Stil ein sehr angenehmer Throwback in eine Zeit vor den formalistischen Serientrillern des industriellen Whodunnitzeitalters: alle Bücher 360 Seiten lang und genau bei 180 Seiten muss der Midpoint, die entscheidende Wendung, passiert sein. In “Shibumi” philosophiert der Autor zu dem Zeitpunkt noch gelassen über die Herkunft der Baskischen Sprache und wir freuen uns über die Unberechenbarkeit der Be- und Entschleunigung. Es ist alles ein bisschen japanisch. Ach né.Gleichzeitig ist es ein interessanter Blick in das Mindset der Achtzigerjahre und abgesehen von der nicht vorhandenen Scheu, Araber, Briten, Amis und alle anderen Drumrum ein bisschen aufs Klischéeis zu führen, ist es durchaus frappierend, wie viele der Aussagen zum Zustand der Politik hellseherisch wirken, bis man merkt, dass man das verkehrtherum sieht - ja, die Politik war schon immer korrupt, lange bevor Techbros dem Präsidenten einen Goldenen Ballsaal bauten, weil der so gut nach ihrer Pfeife tanzen kann.Ich sag: “Danke, Heiko, Top Treffer, Spitzenbuch!” und somit auch Nichtjapanreisenden empfohlen.Das sah um 2011 herum auch der große Don Winslow so. Irgendwann zwischen den brillanten beiden “Savages” Büchern (damals besprochen von Irmgard Lumpini) meinte old Don noch ein Buch einschieben zu müssen, das man heute gemeinhin als Fanfic definiert. Er schreibt in “Satori” die Geschichte von Nicholai Hel weiter, oder genauer, er füllt die Lücken in der Biografie, wie wir sie in “Shibumi” lasen. Und das macht zunächst durchaus Sinn, der Autor des Originals ist lange tot und die erfundene Figur damit verdammt zu einem einzigen Auftritt, was liegt näher als ihm einen weiteren zu geben, und warum nicht von Don Winslow, der, siehe oben, seine schriftstellerische Karriere in ähnlichem Stil begann.Leider/zum Glück, je nach Perspektive, hat sich Don Winslow stilistisch weiterentwickelt. Dramaturgisch sind seine Romane deutlich komplexer aber auch zielstrebiger geworden - etwas, was man von “Shibumi” nicht wirklich behaupten kann. Entsprechend groß ist der Bruch, wenn man “Satori” direkt im Anschluss liest. Wo Trevanian sich Zeit nimmt für einen Ausflug in Kommentare zur Weltpolitik oder die gefährliche Welt des Spelunking, füllt Don Winslow die Lücken im Lebenslauf des Nicolai Hel auf und es ist, sorry, “Malen nach Zahlen”. Wo Trevanian uns in Hel's Lebensgeschichte mit albernem Nonsens unterhält, zum Beispiel der Story, wie Hel zum “Lover der Stufe IV” wurde, inklusive der Beschreibung, was Stufe I bis III sind und wie man diese Skills als Waffe einsetzen kann - und ich muss nicht erklären, dass das alles lustiger Blödsinn ist - langweilt uns Don Winslow mit einer peinlichen Sexszene, die wohl in die Vita von Nico Hel passt, aber leider komplett das Sujet des Originalromans “intelligente Spionagekomödie” verfehlt. Das liegt natürlich daran, dass Don Winslow seit der Neal Carey Reihe ein brillanter Schriftsteller und Storyteller geworden ist, dabei aber an Humor eingebüßt hat. In seinen Spätwerken fallen mir ein paar Szenen mit Sean Callan und Stevie O'Leary, den Teenager-Gangstern aus Hell's Kitchen in “Tage der Toten” ein, die ein bisschen Slapstick machten, bis alles in ernsthaft blutigen Massakern versank und damit war Schluss mit Lustig.Genauso geht Don Winslow auch an “Shibumi” heran und das ist dann halt ziemlich langweilig, Fanfic halt, und ich bin nach einem Viertel im Buch ernsthaft gelangweilt und kann das alles nicht empfehlen.Dafür, wie gesagt, umso mehr Trevanians Original “Shibumi”, denn was wäre die Welt ohne Buchempfehlungen?! Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,das Jahresende naht und alles drängt sich auf ein paar enge Wochen. Zeit also für eine Wiederholung, aber hier sind gleich 2 ganz großartige Bücher, deren wiederholte Erwähnung erst eingestellt werden kann, wenn ihr beide gelesen habt. Es wird dufte, versprochen!______________Manche Kreise sind groß und schließen sich nach 15 Jahren, wenn auch auf einer höheren Ebene (denn wir wollen nicht denken, dass es mit uns bergab geht, sondern dass wir gelebt und gelernt haben und besser sind): damals stellte ich bei Studio B eine wunderbare Sammlung von großartigen Reportagen von A.J. Liebling über das Boxen vor, die zwischen 1951 und 1955 entstanden und damals im renommierten New Yorker erschienen, bevor sie 2009 im Berenberg Verlag als Sammlung “Die artige Kunst” ins Deutsche übertragen wurden.Sommerzeit ist Lesezeit, da sind hier gleich mal 2 Empfehlungen, von ganzem Herzen, ohne jede Einschränkung, auch wenn das Sujet den Leserinnen und Lesern bis heute vielleicht nicht das Interessanteste oder Wichtigste schien. Ernsthaft.Während A. J. Liebling Boxkämpfe sah, während sie geschahen und das Fernsehen für den Niedergang dieser neben dem Ringen ältesten Form des Zweikampfes verantwortlich machte, schreibt Rita Bullwinkel in ihrer Debütnovelle “Headshot” - im Deutschen “Schlaglicht” - auf schmalen 250 Seiten über ein fiktives Sportereignis, das im Amateurboxen der Frauen angesiedelt ist.Gekämpft wird im “Daughters of America Cup”, in dem Amateurboxerinnen bis 18 Jahre antreten dürfen, Handlungsort ist Bob's Boxing Palace in Reno, Nevada. “Headshot” behandelt die im “Töchter Amerikas Cup” ab dem Viertelfinale ausgetragenen Kämpfe.Viertelfinale bedeutet (wir kennen die Zählweise aus anderen Sportarten), dass noch 8 Sportlerinnen im Rennen um die Trophäe sind, und jeweils die Siegerin der Partie gegen eine andere Siegerin gelost wird.Die Kämpfe bilden die Gliederung für das Buch, die jeweils mit den Namen der angetretenen Kontrahentinnen betitelt sind.Am ersten Tag finden die Viertelfinale statt, es folgen 2 Kapitel, die mit “Nacht” und “Tiefe Nacht” überschrieben sind, bevor am nächsten Tag die beiden Halbfinalkämpfe und das Finale ausgetragen werden.Was die Autorin hier in schlichter Prosa zusammenfügt, ist großartig: sie zeigt - und die Auflistung bedeutet keine Wertung -die Körperlichkeit des Boxens und was es für die jungen Boxerinnen bedeutet;warum sie Boxen;wodurch ihre Wahl für diesen Kampfsport bestimmt wurde;wofür sie boxen.Rita Bullwinkel zeigt die wenig glamourösen Umstände des Turniers im Nirgendwo, dessen Ort gewählt wurde, weil er angeblich “in der Mitte des Landes” läge.Dem Ort - Bob's Boxing Palace - wohnt eine tiefe Traurigkeit inne, und “Headshot” zeigt, dass das Amateurboxen für Frauen keine Sportart ist, die in reichen Familien eine Möglichkeit der Freizeitgestaltung für junge weibliche Teenager ist.Neben den detaillierten Beschreibungen der Kämpfe finden sich Rückblicke, aber auch Sprünge in die Zukunft. Wir erfahren viel über die Umstände der Protagonistinnen, die sich teilweise vorher kennen, teilweise nicht. Wir lesen, wie ihre Geschichten individuell sind, wie ihre Familien unterschiedliche Haltungen zum Boxen einnehmen, und die einzelnen Teenager unterstützen oder eben auch nicht.Was das Boxen für die Einzelne bedeutet, ist dabei teilweise allgemeingültig: es gibt den jungen Teenagern eine Kontrolle über ihren Körper, teilweise aber eben auch sehr individuell, wenn Eine die Familientradition fortführen muss oder eine andere über ein ertrunkenes Kind sinniert, dass unter ihrer Aufsicht im örtlichen Schwimmbad ertrunken ist.Dabei entfaltet “Headshot” von Anfang an eine Faszination, die auch durch Rita Bullwinkels Witze, seien sie inhaltlicher oder sprachlicher Natur bestimmt wird.Was die Heldinnen von Headshot, Andi Taylor, Artemis Victor, Kate Heffer, Rachel Doricko, Iggy Lang, Izzy Lang, Rose Mueller und Tania Maw erkämpfen, sind nicht nur Sieg oder Niederlage, sondern ihr Platz in der Gesellschaft, der - durch die Rück- und Ausblicke gezeigt - weit über den jeweiligen Boxkampf hinausgeht.Was “Headshot” überhaupt nicht verhandelt, ist, ob es überhaupt ok ist, dass junge Frauen boxen. Warum auch.“Headshot” von Rita Bullwinkel wurde für den Booker Prize 2024 nominiert, dies nur als Information für diejenigen, die ihre Lektüre durch so etwas beeinflussen lassen (was ich nicht verurteilen würde, irgendwie muss man ja auswählen), aber wenn ihr euch durch die Rezensionen bei Studio B beeinflussen lasst: Lest dieses Buch! Leider findet sich nicht immer die Zeit, um eine neue Rezension zu schreiben und die Hörerinnen mit neuem Input zu erfreuen. Das liegt zum einen daran, dass es manchmal einfach nicht zum straffen Zeitplan passt und zum anderen, dass gelegentlich auch einfach die Lektüre fehlt, die mich so mitreißt, dass ich unbedingt etwas darüber schreiben will. Passend zum grauen Wetter habe ich daher heute einen alte, bereits vor neun Jahren und ebenfalls im November von mir veröffentlichte Rezension ausgesucht, die es lohnt, noch einmal erneut Beachtung zu finden.Bereits im Jahr 1869 schrieb der gerade einmal 23 jährige Franzose Isidor Lucien Ducasse, besser bekannt unter dem Pseudonym Lautréamont, sein Werk „Die Gesänge des Maldoror“, welches 1963 in deutscher Übersetzung im Rowohlt Verlag erschien. Dieses, sein einziges vollendetes Werk, gilt als Klassiker der Schwarzen Romantik und übte gleichfalls großen Einfluss auf die Surrealisten aus. Der Protagonist Maldoror besingt in sechs Gesängen sowohl seine eigene als auch die Grausamkeit der Menschen, ebenso wie seine Verachtung für den Schöpfer. Meine Rezension möchte ich mit folgendem Zitat beginnen:„Es liegt die Welt in Scherben,Einst liebten wir sie sehrNun hat für uns das Sterben,Nicht viele Schrecken mehr.“ (1944)Diese erste Strophe aus Hermann Hesses Gedicht „Leb' wohl, Frau Welt“, welches 1944 und damit circa 75 Jahre nach Lautréamonts Werk erschien, deutet eine Thematik an, die die Dichter und Philosophen über Jahrzehnte und Jahrhunderte hinweg beschäftigte und beschäftigt und die auch in unserem Alltag fest verankert ist. Die Medien berichten unablässig über die Gräueltaten der menschlichen Rasse, sei es im kleinen oder großen Stil. Wir sind jedoch nur begrenzt in der Lage, all diese Informationen zu verarbeiten und halten uns bewusst vor der Auseinandersetzung zurück, solange es uns selbst nicht betrifft und vielleicht auch, um darüber nicht völlig zu verzweifeln.Anders löst der Protagonist Maldoror dieses Thema für sich. Er, dessen Name so viel wie„Sonne des Bösen“ (Aurore du Mal), oder auch „Vergolder des Bösen“ bedeutet, zelebriert die Abscheulichkeiten und besingt die Bösartigkeiten der Bestie Mensch, nicht ohne dabei auch den Schöpfer ins Gericht zu nehmen, der diese Kreatur erschaffen hat. Maldoror sucht einerseits die Einsamkeit, indem er sich in Höhlen und anderen entlegenen Plätzen aufhält, andererseits braucht er die Gegenwart der Menschen, um seinen abartigen Neigungen zu frönen und den Menschen größt mögliches Leid in Form von beispielsweise Misshandlungen, Vergewaltigungen und Kindsmord zuzufügen. Maldoror sieht das Leben nicht als Geschenk an, sondern als fremdbestimmte Entscheidung, an der er keinen Anteil hat. Er wäre lieber „der Sohn der Haiin […] und des Tigers“ (S. 20) geworden, deren Grausamkeit bekannt ist und die die des Menschen trotzdem nicht im Ansatz übertrifft. Die gottgegebene Fähigkeit zu leiden, sieht er als verdienstreich und als Ideal an.Während des Lesens stellt sich die Frage, welches Geschöpf Maldoror selbst eigentlich ist. Zwar wird er im Klappentext des Buches als gefallener Engel, satanischer Verführer und als Verkörperung des absolut Bösen bezeichnet, doch beim genauen Lesen wird deutlich, dass der Satan nicht nur sein Rivale, sondern sogar sein Feind ist. (s. S. 137) Auch die aufkommende Vermutung, dass er ein Vampir sei, negiert er im Text selbst, mit der Begründung: „man hält mich zu Unrecht für einen Vampir, da man Tote so nennt, die dem Grabe entsteigen; ich aber bin ein Lebender“ (S. 198) Ich glaube vielmehr, dass Maldoror als Metapher für das Böse im Allgemeinen gedeutet werden kann. Nämlich für die über die Jahrhunderte und Epochen hinweg herrschenden Übel der Welt, die in immer anderen Gesichtern Unheil bringen.Und doch geht es Lautréamont mit seinem Roman nicht allein darum, das Schlechte der Menschen aufzuzeigen. Vielmehr verbirgt sich hinter seiner metaphernreichen Sprache, seinem Radikalismus, seiner Vulgarität und seinen Übertreibungen der Wille, beim Leser den Wunsch nach dem Guten im Menschen zu wecken. Auch sein Protagonist ist nicht das ausschließlich Böse, sondern besitzt Moral, wie sich meiner Meinung nach, an folgendem Zitat zeigt:„...aber vor allem kommt es darauf an, richtige Begriffe über die Grundlagen der Moral zu besitzen, solcherart, daß jeder von dem Prinzip durchdrungen sein muß, das befiehlt, den anderen so zu behandeln wie man vielleicht selber behandelt werden möchte.“ (S. 201/202)Die Ambivalenz Maldorors zeigt sich darin, dass er einerseits Freude daran hat, anderen beim Foltern zuzusehen, andererseits aber auch hilft und verachtend auf die Unvernunft und Rachsüchtigkeit der Menschen blickt, während die Tiere dem Menschen in dieser Hinsicht überlegen sind. Der Vergleich mit Tieren, der Wunsch des Protagonisten, selbst ein Tier zu sein, sowie Tiere als Metapher sind ein von Lautréamont häufig genutztes Stilmittel. Den Schöpfer bezeichnet er als hochmütig und als Voyeur, der sich nachts die Träume der Schlafenden ansieht.„Die Gesänge des Maldoror“ sind keinesfalls einfach zu lesen, schon aufgrund einer Sprache, die wir heute so nicht mehr verwenden. Wenn der Zugang dazu einmal geglückt ist und man sich sozusagen ‘eingelesen' hat, ergeben sich weitere Schwierigkeiten. Zum einen die mitunter sehr langen und verschachtelten Sätze, zum anderen die Vermischung von Realität, Traum, Metapher und auch Halluzinatorischen. Oft ist nicht ganz klar bzw. eindeutig mit wem oder wovon Maldoror gerade spricht. Hinzu kommen die Brutalität, Grausamkeit und der Sadismus, mit denen Maldoror agiert und die Lautréamont bewusst einsetzt, um zu schockieren, aber vor allem um zu läutern. Nicht ohne Grund hatte er daher Schwierigkeiten, sein Buch verlegen zu lassen.Und doch schafft es Lautréamont, dass der Leser nicht nur Abneigung gegen Maldoror empfindet, sondern sich auch in ihn und seine zutiefst menschlichen Fragen hinein fühlen kann, wie beispielsweise folgende: „Oft habe ich mich gefragt, was leichter zu ergründen sei: die Tiefe des Ozeans oder die Tiefe des menschlichen Herzens!“ (S.24/25) Diese Frage mag zunächst etwas pathetisch klingen, doch der Ozean ist ein wichtiges Motiv im Roman. Denn der Ozean ist majestätisch und birgt eine enorme Tier- und Pflanzenwelt und neben diesen bekannten Dingen auch viele Geheimnisse und unerforschte Stellen. Maldoror geht sogar soweit, ihn, also den Ozean, den ‘großen Junggesellen' zu nennen, was in diesem Fall eine Bezeichnung für Gott ist und deutlich macht, welchen Stellenwert der Ozean für Maldoror einnimmt. Sein innehalten und seine Gedanken über den Ozean, zählen für mich zu den schönsten Stellen im gesamten Buch, da sie nicht nur Bilder und Assoziationen in mir hervorrufen, sondern auch sehr treffend formuliert sind, weshalb ich an dieser Stelle gern noch einmal zitieren möchte:„Alter Ozean, du bist das Symbol der Identität: immer dir selber gleich. Im Grunde deines Wesens änderst du dich nicht, und wenn deine Wogen irgendwo in Aufruhr sind, dann sind sie in einer anderen, ferneren Gegend in vollendeter Ruhe. Du gleichst nicht dem Menschen, der auf der Straße stehenbleibt, um zwei Bulldoggen zuzusehen, die sich an der Gurgel packen, der aber auch nicht stehenbleibt, wenn man einen Menschen zu Grabe trägt, der heute morgen zugänglich ist und heute abend schlechter Laune; der heute lacht und morgen weint. Ich grüße dich, alter Ozean!“ (S. 23)„Die Gesänge des Maldoror“ sind keine einfache Lektüre, nichts das man eben mal so nebenbei liest und doch sehr lesenswert, da sie im Laufe der Zeit nicht an Aktualität verloren haben. Daher möchte ich Lautréamonts einziges, vollendetes Werk unbedingt weiter empfehlen, auch wenn das einmalige Lesen sicher nicht genügt, um es in Gänze zu durchdringen, so doch um zunächst einen Eindruck dessen zu gewinnen, worum es dem Autor ging, nämlich: „um den Leser zu bedrücken und in ihm den Wunsch nach dem Guten als Heilmittel zu wecken.“ This is a public episode. The guys are at Studio B and Poni was late after being warned of that by Donny and Chris earlier today. So, we made fun of him for the first segment until he showed up around 2:12 pm. Does this game mean more to the Steelers? We know how much the trip means to the Rooney family and how much it would have meant to the late Dan Rooney. It seems like some players, Cam Heyward included, sounds like this game has some more juice. The guys think it also means a ton to Mike Tomlin, given how much it means for the family that hired him. Poni said he can't picture the Steelers coming out flat in this game. PG columnist Jason Mackey joined the show. Jason has been in Ireland all week, so he gave a lay of the land of what is going on. He told the guys about some of the local vernacular he's picking up. Jason thinks this game does mean a little bit more to the Steelers. Jason thinks the Rooney family would like for this to not be the last time the Steelers play in Dublin. Jason said it could be close to a 50/50 crowd even though the Steelers are the home team.
