It's another great big giant show, as El'Ahrai and John welcome The Blonde in Front, Cati Glidewell herself, for another round of reviews! This week, the three of them talk "May December", "Saltburn", "Sharknado 5: Global Swarming", and "Thanksgiving"! (One of those may not--strictly speaking--be true.) But wait, there's more! We also have an interview with "It's A Wonderful Knife" star Jane Widdop! So how about that! Plus newsbits, questions, video picks, and more! So give it a listen! You're not a Nazi, Jojo. You're a ten-year-old kid who likes dressing up in a funny uniform and wants to be part of a club.

Thelma Todd was one of the great comediennes of the 1920s and ‘30s, working alongside Laurel & Hardy, the Marx Brothers, and Buster Keaton. She confronted a stalker on a dark corner of Hollywood Boulevard with just one dollar and a gun in her purse. She stood up to the mob when they tried to start a gambling den in the back room of the café she ran with her lover. She killed off her world-famous name in an attempt to give up comedy for dramatic acting. And then she herself was killed off…or was she? Thelma Todd's death in 1935 at the age of 29 remains one of the great unsolved deaths of Hollywood's Golden Age. To see the complete list of contributors, visit disgracelandpod.com/badlands. It is a privilege to welcome actress and singer Lauren Marcus to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Stephen Mosher of BroadwayWorld best described Lauren: "Take all the female rock stars you have known and loved and roll them up into one. Take, for instance, Linda Ronstadt's soul, Tina Turner's sexiness, Pat Benatar's grit, Debbie Harry's defiance, and all the Go-Go's playfulness. Mix and bake at 350, then frost with a five-inch thick layer of The Icing of Originality, and you've got Lauren Marcus." Hailed as "fabulous" by The Boston Globe and a "powerhouse" by The Chicago Tribune, Lauren is a multi-hyphenate actor, singer, and writer whose work has been seen on stage and screen. She has appeared in countless regional theatrical productions, including Company (with Aaron Tveit; Amy), Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel), Hello, Dolly! (with Tovah Feldshuh; Ermengarde), two productions of Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey) and Merrily We Roll Along (Mary Flynn). She also was part of four world premieres, including Beatsville (Carla), Love in Hate Nation (Miss Asp), Pregnancy Pact (Jenn), and Punk Rock Girl! (Patricia). She also appeared in the Off-Broadway productions of Sarah Silverman's The Bedwetter (multiple roles) and White Girl in Danger (Meagan). Lauren was also part of Be More Chill's journey. She portrayed Brooke Lohst in the regional, off-Broadway, and Broadway productions. Lauren starred as Donna in the Netflix adaption of the Lin-Manuel Miranda-directed Tick, Tick…BOOM! Lauren also performed across New York City's famous music venues, including 54Below and Rockwood Music Hall, where she had multiple residencies and had a party of 12 performers on stage. While she considers her live shows – half-party/half-therapy, Lauren's sound is inspired by the effervescent melodies of 1960s pop, the lyrical poetry of 1970s troubadours, and the electric edge of contemporary indie rock…and usually includes a healthy dose of theatricality. Her sound is at once a throwback and entirely forward-thinking. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lauren Marcus spoke about being part of Be More Chill's entire circle journey, pulling off a quick recovery on stage while performing in Company with the late Stephen Sondheim in attendance and her latest single: "Skinny & Blonde."

What's up, dudes? It's Christmas Podcast Day 2023! This year the Christmas Podcast Network is covering adaptations of “A Christmas Carol!” I've got Santa Ambassador Matt Spaulding from North Pole Radio with me to talk about “The Real Ghostbusters” season 1 episode ‘Xmas Marks the Spot!'The Ghostbusters are driving back from a bust when they inadvertently enter a rift in the space-time continuum. This time slip transports them back to London in 1837. They pick up massive readings in the PKE meter and follow them to their he house of Ebenezer Scrooge. Seeing ghosts, the boys take action and bust the spectral figures, not really they trapped the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Scrooge is initially grateful, but quickly becomes flabbergasted when they demand payment. When the ghostbusters return to the future, people are cruel and selfish, and it seems that Christmas has been eradicated. It turns out that Scrooge was so furious over having to pay for their services, that he wrote a book denigrating the holiday. The ghostbusters have no choice but to launch a counter operation on two fronts: Egon will go into the containment unit to retrieve the benevolent spirits, and Peter, Winston, and Ray will go back to the past and pretend to be the ghosts in order to scare Scrooge straight. Spoiler alert! They succeed.Christmas carols? Check. Ebenezer Scrooge? Yep. Blonde wigs and pink tutus? Well…only if for pretending to be a ghost. So grab your proton pack, pick up your PKE meter, and hop in Ecto-1 to get to this episode all about “The Real Ghostbusters” ‘Xmas Marks the Spot!'Check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! Later, dudes!

Actress CAROLE LANDIS was a rising star in the 1940s, but her bright light was short-lived. She came from a troubled background and learned early that her looks and sex appeal were valuable commodities that could help her dreams of fame come true. She scratched and clawed her way to Hollywood stardom only to find the dream was hollow. Her quest for love led her to all the wrong men. Her ill-fated love affair with the very-married star REX HARRISON drove her to her untimely death at age 29. Ruled a suicide at the time, years later, Landis' family thinks otherwise. Today, she serves as a cautionary tale about the dark side of the Hollywood dream. SHOW NOTES: Sources: Carole Landis: A Tragic Life In Hollywood (2005), by E.J. Helen Reavey is a trichologist and veteran hairstylist for some of the world's leading fashion brands, media outlets and celebrities including Harry Styles, Marisa Tomei and Sarah Snook. Having worked worldwide from salon to runway, Helen noticed an overwhelming commonality of poor scalp health. Her curiosity resulted in a realization that the industry was serving up a selection of sub-par products that do not serve to nourish, balance, and stimulate the scalp which led her to create Act + Acre. She joins the show to discuss what we have wrong about hair health, how to best take care of our scalps, scalp conditions including dandruff and oily scalp, how often we should be washing our hair, common hair myths and so much more.
