To live a life of love is to imitate our Father and walk as Jesus walked. Love those who oppose us, forgive those who abuse us, have compassion on those who are weak, serve without being repaid, befriend the discouraged and downtrodden, and share the gospel with those who are lost.
Christmas is about more than angels, shepherds, and wise men. It’s about the logos who preexisted, coexisted and self-existed with God as God, robing Himself in flesh, entering our world, revealing the Father to us, dying for our sins, and making Sonship possible for whoever believes.
The greatest events in human history were the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul referred to these as the mystery of godliness. A mystery is something hard or impossible to explain; something above human reasoning or comprehension. Faith in God rises above logic and reasoning. It’s not limited to sense knowledge evidences. It’s of the heart, not the head. The mind can’t deal with the supernatural. It can’t understand how the Red Sea can part or how oil can multiply. It can’t understand the incarnation.
In spiritual warfare, whoever controls the mind, controls the life. Remember Proverbs 23:7 'As a man thinketh... so is he...' The mind is the control center of who we are. We are responsible to guard our minds and cast down or keep out thoughts and imaginations that contradict God’s Word.
The source of our strength is not in ourselves. It’s God’s power that is needed to stand against the fiery darts Satan throws our way. So put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Developing strong faith doesn’t just happen. It happens because we feed on the right message and exercise our faith when challenged.
C. S. Lewis "When speaking about the reality of Satan and demonic activity, the danger is always twofold: To put way too much emphasis, or way too little." To some, there’s a demon behind every door. To others, demons are no longer among us. The truth is, there is a highly organized army of satanic forces operating in the world today, just as in Bible days. These evil spirits seek to inhabit human lives in order to find expression in this realm.
Naturally speaking, people have different strengths that enable them to do what others can’t. This is true physically, academically, musically, vocally or artistically. Our text says Abraham was strong in faith. His strong faith enabled him to receive what God promised. God has promised us many things in Christ. It takes strong faith in order to receive the promises, why? There are giants in the promised land that strive to keep us out of our inheritance.
Giving thanks to God is an expression that gives Him the glory He deserves for being our creator, life giver and law maker. We give thanks verbally and through acts of service. Not doing so robs Him of the glory He rightfully deserves.
In order for us to do the works of Jesus, we must understand how He did them. Jesus took no credit for the works He did. What He did was directly connected to His close walk with the Father. Even though something may be God’s will, there may be reasons why it won’t be done. We don’t manipulate God’s power with a formula.
After leaving Athens where Paul preached a powerful, intellectual message to the Judges on Mars Hill, Paul travels to Corinth - a city filled with demonic activity, Idolatry and sexual perversion. At Corinth, Paul preached, and demonstrated the supernatural power of God. In communities where the occult was prevalent, it was necessary to show that God’s power was greater. The objective was to shift their faith from the power of Satan to God.

Throughout history, people have experienced supernatural encounters with God that transformed their lives and ignited in them a new passion to live for God. Isaiah saw the Lord, and the revelation of His holiness changed his life forever. Moses encountered God at a burning bush where he received an assignment that altered the course of two nations. Paul’s encounter with Jesus totally transformed his life. We can’t make God give us a special encounter, but we can position ourselves to have one if we so desire.

Power to witness effectively, to know the truth, to live free from sin’s dominion and to destroy the works of the enemy. There is no substitute for God’s power.

The walls of the city will be called salvation and the gates will be called praise.

Freedom is not free, many Americans fought and died in many wars to obtain the freedom we enjoy and sometimes abuse. As wonderful as our freedoms are, they’re only temporal. There’s a greater freedom that’s eternal. Only one man fought and died to obtain it.
