This week we talk all about Cody's busy fall schedule on the show trail, and what we have been up to here lately (not podcasting, unfortunately). We also dive deep into the 2020 Snaffle Bit Futurity event as a whole. From the ladies of the NRCHA dominating to our man Cody Hedlund getting his feet wet in the cow horse! We are happy to be back!

On this weeks show, 2020 NYCHA Sr. Youth Scholarship Cutting Champion: Ryan Rapp sits down with Kaden, Cody, and Porterfield to talk an action pack week of youth cutting that just concluded in Fort Worth, TX. We chat all about Ryan, how he intends to use his scholarship money, and what it was like having "youth week" during COVID. Be sure to stick around for a breakdown of Wesley Galyean's win in the 5/6 Open as well as the dominating performance Rodrigo put on in the intermediate division of the Classic/Challenge!

What a treat this week... 9X NFR Qualifier: JoJo Lemond sits down with the Section K boys to talk about his rodeo career, growing up in a rodeo family, having to manage being a kid with a ton of talent, and lastly how he got to be involved with cutting horses. The Lemond legacy is carried on through JoJo's oldest son: Newt, middle son: Gunnar, and his youngest daughter: Shaylee. JoJo's drive to be not only a good cowboys but an even better Dad and Husband is very evident, in how he describes his day to day operation. The best phrase to describe JoJo Lemond: Family man. On this week’s episode, Jay Winborn joins the show to address the new rule changes at the 2020 Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular. We discuss the mandatory stall rule, the back number rule, and the guys also have some other questions about the current state of the National Cutting Horse Association. Thanks to Jay for choosing to come on the show to talk about and hopefully inform folks as to why these changes are necessary.

The Section K Podcast is back, and so are horse shows! This week, Kaden and Cody are joined by Evan Moffitt, and new guest: Kody Porterfield to talk about The Non-Pro Plus the Open that was the first major cutting horse event after the shutdown, due to COVID-19. The guys talk about being back in the horse show atmosphere, Wesley Galyean's unbelievable 230 in the 5/6 Open finals, and even some possum hunting in the RV park. We also recap Porterfield's trip to Abilene for the Texas High School Finals to help in the cutting, and lastly Kody boasts a little bit about winning the 1st Annual Rope N Stroke, alongside Mr. JoJo Lemond. 

The boys are back this week, with an interview with Chris Dawson of Dawson Performance Horses and the popular podcast: Cowhorse Full Contact. Chris talks about showing early in life in Appaloosa classes, which he feels is the reason for a lot of his success showing and training performance horses for multiple disciplines today. We also dive into the origin of Cowhorse Full Contact and their process of recording and releasing content, which consists of Chris, Russell Dilday, and Producer Ben Self. This week, everyone is locked down and in self-quarantine so we decided to bring you a special episode. We begin the show talking about the impact of COVID-19 on the cutting and horse world as well, as what we have been doing with any extra time on our hands. We then, welcome Cullen Chartier to the chat (23:55) as we talk about Cullen making his first open Futurity finals in 2019 and what all has lead to this point in his career! We have a special interview for you this week, with one of the hottest hands in the performance horse industry at this time: Adan Bañuelos of AB Performance Horses in Granbury, TX. Adan has been the leading money earning rider, over the last two show years (2018-2019) and has continued his streak of excellence in 2020. Adan is from a family of horsemen. Cutting is in his blood, and that is extremely evident in some of the anecdotes he shares on this episode.

On another Thursday evening edition of the Section K podcast, we talk about the dominating performance by team Beau Galyean Performance Horses, with Beau and Rodrigo both picking up championships at the Cattleman's. We also dig into the roll-back into the intermediate/limited rule that allows trainers to roll-back to those classes depending on earnings within the last few show years. We end the show talking about a cutting stud making a cameo in Yellowstone: season 3 on Paramount Network and a MLB pitcher, winning team-ropings under a fake name. Back to regular scheduled programming next week, we promise!

We are a little late this week, (apologies) but we wanted to make sure and take in the great cutting action that took place in Ardmore, Oklahoma. before recording this week's episode. We also discuss the great finals day at the NRCHA Celebration of Champions which concluded with the World's Greatest  Horseman and World's Greatest Youth Horseman in Fort Worth, TX. The Section K Podcast is officially a YEAR old! Thanks to all of our listeners for keeping this train rolling! This week, we chat all about the Open and Intermediate Open Finals at the Bonanza Cutting in Belton, TX. Lastly, we discuss the rollback eligibility for intermediate competition and what we think it means for the sport!

This week, Cody returns to North Texas to discuss his trip to Louisiana and the IKE Derby & Classic (Yes, Crawfish City is still as good as ever). We talk about the Champs and also have a short discussion about the lack of entries in the Non-Pro Division. We conclude the show by discussing the sudden passing of stand-out stallion: Hottish. 

A little bit of a delayed episode today, due to the Open 4 year old finals being held on Tuesday afternoon. This week: Kaden and CBL watch the 5/6 Open finals and react live to the unreal finals that took place in West Monroe on Monday evening. The second part of the show Cody Hedlund calls in live from the Ike Hamilton Event Center to break down the 4 year old finals and give his reaction to Super G and Rollz Royce marking a massive 229 for the victory, the night before!

A bit of a different show today... we start out by discussing the gentleman we just had on the podcast last week, and his continued success in the cutting pen. Then we shift gears a little and discuss the sudden passing of the late, great, Kobe Bryant, his daughter and 7 others in a helicopter crash. Kobe was important to the boys of Section K for numerous reasons and we wanted to highlight some of those this week.

This week, we round out our archive of interviews from the 2019 NCHA Futurity with none other than a man who has won that event twice: Austin Shepard. Big A discusses his kids successes in the show pen, how special it is watching his kids show, and lastly we talk about some pretty special horses that Austin has rode in the past. Today, it is Claremore, Oklahoma cutting horse trainer: Wes Galyean's turn to join the Section K Podcast. In a lengthy interview from the NCHA Futurity, Wes talks about growing up a Galyean and tells some great anecdotes about Spots Hot and training horses alongside is brother Beau and his Father, Jody. Big congratulations to Wes on going over the $4 million dollar mark last week at the Abilene Spectacular!

We also chat about the horses of the year for 2019 in all three divisions. Lastly, we have a little G.O.A.T. talk: Lloyd Cox is the newest leading cutting horse rider in the NCHA and we add a little trivia to that discussion. What a treat this week, to be able to have the 2019 Snaffle Bit Open Futurity Champ: Lance Johnston on the show. Lance talks in detail about finals night, what all has led to this point in his career, and why he will train cow horses as long as he is physically able to. We chat Cass up about both his Derby intermediate and Classic intermediate championships at the PCCHA Futurity and what it is like working for the G.O.A.T.

On today's episode, Kaden and Collbran break down all the Brazos Bash Open Finals. The guys also have a little discussion about the announcement of a newly appointed governance committee and plans for an all directors meeting to be held during the 2019 NCHA Futurity, in November.

On this week's episode, west coast cutter: John Echeverria calls into the show and gives his thoughts on the petition that was has been brought forth to call an NCHA special members meeting. We also recap the winners at the El Rancho Futurity that just finished up. On today's show, we chat about all the champs that sweated out victories in West Monroe at the Cotton Stakes Cutting. We also have a lengthy discussion about the two-class proposal that was brought forth by the Non-Pro committee. Lastly, we give our opinions on the news that broke yesterday about our Executive Director: Kirk Slaughter announcing his resignation.

On today’s show, the fellas discuss the second leg of the west coast run: The Idaho Futurity & Aged-Event. We talk about the folks who had success in Idaho and what the Texans are up to during this week off before the El Rancho Futurity gets started. Lastly, the guys chat a little about leveling and what the las year with leveled shows has been like. 

Another heater of a show today: MLB All-Star, former Colorado Rockies starting Pitcher, and fellow cutter: Aaron Cook sits down with the boys and talks all things baseball today. Aaron has many good anecdotes about playing in both the minor and major leagues, and also discusses what it was like overcoming adversity and coming back off a serious injury to pitch again.
