Dobrá investícia. „Do akej oblasti by ste chceli investovať?“ spýtal sa ma pán v banke. Ponúkal mi možnosť vložiť peniaze do technologických firiem, alebo do ekologických projektov, alebo do trhu s realitami. Ukazoval mi grafy výnosov za posledné roky aj mieru rizika straty peňazí. Všetko som si podrobne preštudoval, kým som urobil rozhodnutie. Pokiaľ ide o naše peniaze, vieme byť veľmi obozretní. Hľadáme v nich istotu. Dodávajú nám pocit slobody a spokojnosti. – – Kazateľ skúšal všetko možné. Hľadal zmysel života v zábave, v hromadení majetku. Kým toto všetko dosiahol, iste ho to stálo veľa času a úsilia. Získal majetok, užíval si život a výsledok? Konštatuje, že je to márnosť. – – Podobne nám o tom hovorí aj Pán Ježiš v podobenstve o nerozumnom boháčovi (Lk 12,16-21). Tieto slová nám nehovoria, že majetok je sám o sebe zlý a že máme žiť ako žobraví mnísi. Chcú nám povedať, že existujú aj lepšie investície, ako len do majetku: Investujme do vzťahov! V prvom rade s Pánom Bohom, a potom do vzťahov s našimi blížnymi. Viem, že tieto slová nie sú ničím prevratným. Asi sme ich už veľakrát počuli. Škoda len, že tak málo podľa nich aj žijeme… Modlitba: Ďakujeme Ti, Bože, že v Tebe máme tú najdôležitejšiu istotu! Odpusť, že si viac vážime istoty, ktoré nemôžu zabezpečiť to, čo Ty! Skús si tiež všimnúť jednu oblasť, kde sa príliš opieraš o majetok alebo úspech, a odovzdaj ju Bohu. Chúng ta vui mừng khi nghe về những phép lạ như vậy ngày nay, nhưng sẽ ra sao khi phép lạ cho chúng ta không đến? Khi nghiên cứu các phép lạ trong Kinh Thánh, chúng ta thấy rằng không phải tất cả những người bị bệnh phong đều được chữa lành, không phải tất cả những người mù đều nhận được thị lực của họ và không phải tất cả những người đã chết đều sống lại. Và đối với con cái trung tín của Đức Chúa Cha, Ngài đã hứa “cuộc sống vĩnh cửu, là ân tứ lớn lao nhất trong tất cả các ân tứ của Thượng Đế” ( Giáo Lý và Giao Ước 14: 7). Chủ Tịch Dallin H. Po Hongkongu odwiedziliśmy drugi Specjalny Region Administracyjny Chin – Makau. Ta dawna enklawa handlowa Portugalii, będąca niegdyś kluczowym węzłem Morskiego Jedwabnego Szlaku, jest dziś globalnym centrum hazardu. Podczas spaceru po kasynach przybliżyliśmy historię monopolu Stanleya Ho, „króla hazardu”.Zwiedziliśmy wpisane na listę UNESCO zabytkowe centrum Makau, choćby z barokową fasadą katedry św. Pawła. Zajrzeliśmy do najbardziej luksusowych hoteli, na czele z wizjonerskim hotelem Morpheus od Zahy Hadid, będącym największym budynkiem z egzoszkieletem i The 13 Palace, najdroższym hotelem na świecie w przeliczeniu na wyposażenie jednego pokoju.Chcąc poznać jedną z najstarszych i najlepszych kuchni fusion odwiedziliśmy czołowe restauracje Michelin w Makau. Przejechaliśmy najdłuższym morskim mostem (i tunelem) świata, łączącym Hongkong, Zhuhai i Makau, którego długość przekracza 55 kilometrów. Było też o integracji z regionem Greater Bay Area.Gośćmi Jerzego Jopa byli: Majka Szura, kreatorka podróży, twórczyni marki Polka Travel, filolog i tłumacz przysięgły języka hiszpańskiego oraz Tomasz Cecot, przewodnik turystyczny i wykładowca akademicki, mieszkający w Hongkongu od ośmiu lat.

The ASX 200 ended a long week of results down 25 points at 9,059, or 0.3%. The index down 0.7% this week. It has been a long week for the market, and some of the gains from previous sessions were reversed today. The banking sector found its feet, with the Big Bank Basket rising to $267.12 (0.5%), led by CBA, up 1.0%. Insurers also bounced following yesterday's drubbing, with QBE up 2.9%, SUN up 1.1%, and MPL also having a good day, up 5.1%. Industrials were generally weaker across the board, with WES down 2.3%, JBH falling 1.4%, and QAN also under pressure, down 1.2%. The supermarkets drifted lower too. Healthcare came under pressure, with CSL falling 1.7% and PME also down 7.0%. Technology stocks gave back some of their gains from previous sessions, with XRO down 0.3% and WTC falling 2.0%. MP1 continued to flop following its capital raise, while NXT also slipped slightly.Resources were mixed, with BHP down 0.9%, while RIO headed in the opposite direction, rising 1.4%. Gold miners regained their footing and pushed a little higher, with GMD up 3.9% and RMS posting a modest gain. PLS also had a good day, up 5.0%, while MIN, IGO and LTR all performed well. Coal and uranium stocks were slightly firmer, while the oil and gas sector was somewhat mixed.In corporate news, GYG delivered better-than-expected results, rallying 11.4%, while TPG also performed well following its results. On the M&A front, EQT rose 9.3% on the back of a rival bid from BGH Capital, while it looks like the SDF deal has been signed, with the stock in suspension until next week. Some notable fallers on corporate news included ING, DGT and CHC, all of which came under pressure following their results.Nothing of note on the local economic front today. Asian markets were mixed, with Japan down 0.5%, Hong Kong up 0.7%, China up 0.6%, and US futures were narrowly firmer, with the Dow up 22 points and the Nasdaq up 48. It was a mixed picture across the market as investors waited for the US non-farm payrolls (NFP) report tonight and watched for further developments in the Middle East.The banks slipped back, with CBA down 1.0% and WBC down 1.6%, while MQG also eased after recently hitting record highs, falling 1.1%. The Big Bank Basket fell 1.1% to $295.90. Financials were generally softer, with the sector under pressure and ZIP also slipping 3.4% following XYZ's results. REITs were mixed, with GMG down 1.0%, but CHC up 0.76%. Industrials were largely flat, with SGH down 1.25% and QAN down 1.12%, while the retail sector barely moved. Healthcare stocks took a breather, with RMD falling 8.3% on concerns around margins and inflation pressures. Technology stocks had a better session, with WTC up 4.3% and XRO up 1.5%, possibly receiving support from the 32% climb in Atlassian after its results were released after hours.Resources were once again the place to be, although the iron ore names were mixed. RIO gained 0.8%, while FMG slipped 2.3%. Lithium stocks, which have been heavily sold off for some time, finally found some buyers, with PLS rallying 6.5% and LTR also pushing higher by 9.3%. Gold miners were slightly firmer, with NST up 2.3% and NEM up 2.7%, while oil and gas stocks continued to perform well. Coal stocks also improved, alongside uranium names. PDN rose 3.3%, while NXG also enjoyed a better session, gaining 2.2%.In corporate news, JHX added 5.8% following an increase in quarterly income, while NCK slipped 0.7% despite UK operations helping support its results. AQZ returned from a trading halt and rose 6.1% after providing clarification around the Qantas transaction. That's a hell of a return on investment.Elliott NeginNews 7/3/26* Our top stories this week are the Colorado primaries. First, DSA-backed insurgent Melat Kiros successfully ousted 29-year incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Diana DeGette in the state's first congressional district, winning in a surprise blowout of over 13 points. Kiros, a 29-year old Tigrayan-American lawyer and PhD student, was fired from Sidley Austin – a “biglaw” firm in 2023, after she “posted an open letter defending students protesting Israel's war in Gaza from charges of antisemitism,” per Colorado Newsline. Axios reports many House Democrats, speaking anonymously, have bemoaned DeGette's loss, with one accusing Kiros of trafficking in “performative politics,” but Usamah Andrabi, spokesperson for Justice Democrats, one of the main groups that backed Kiros, put it simply when he said “If DeGette didn't deserve a primary, Denverites wouldn't have elected Melat” by double digits.* Also in Colorado, state Attorney General Phil Weiser easily defeated Senator Michael Bennet in the primary to succeed Jared Polis as Governor. While Weiser did run to Bennet's left, the real victory for progressives is that Bennet finishing out his own term means the Colorado Democratic establishment won't be able to appoint someone – likely a centrist member of the House – to replace him, per Axios. Meanwhile, John Hickenlooper, a Colorado Democratic institution won his primary as well, fending off a challenge from his left by state Senator Julie Gonzales. However, Gonzales came within 6 points of Hickenlooper, according to Colorado Public Radio, a tantalizingly close margin. Moreover, not only has Hickenlooper vowed that this would be his final Senate term, many are speculating that Bennet himself won't run when his term ends in 2028. That is all to say, it is possible we have not seen the last of Ms. Gonzales.* Speaking of Gonzales, much has been made of the fact that she “softly” distanced herself from DSA as she launched her primary campaign, per Colorado Pols. Perhaps maintaining that organizational relationship would not have resulted in her victory, but the stunning successes of DSA-backed candidates – including Melat Kiros in Colorado – speaks to the group's impressive organizational muscle. In fact, the group can boast of winning yet another seat in the New York State Assembly, with Maurice “Mo” Brown declaring victory against longtime incumbent Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli in the 129th Assembly District. Magnarelli held the seat for 30 years. Brown won by just over 100 votes after all the absentee and affidavit votes were tallied, according to Syracuse.com. With Brown's victory, DSA will send 16 members to Albany next session, nearly doubling its presence across both chambers of the state legislature.* More impressive than the electoral victories however is the fact that DSA members in office are delivering on their campaign promises. Most notably, in New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has successfully forced a vote through the Rent Guidelines Board to enact a rent freeze for the Big Apple's 1 million rent-stabilized apartments, Time reports. These units make up a whopping 27% of the city's housing stock and house around 2 million people. Mamdani's predecessor, the corporate-friendly Democrat Eric Adams, pushed through rent hikes via the guidelines board, raising the rent by 12.6% over the course of his term in office. Mamdani called this the “relief that working people across our city deserve.” This move has, predictably, drawn the ire of landlords and their industry representatives, but there is no denying that the people of New York City voted for Mamdani in large part for this exact policy and he delivered.* In Congress, another socialist – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – is fighting for key amendments to the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act. These run the gamut from prohibiting the transfer of weapons to countries hampering the delivery of humanitarian aid, such as Israel, to demanding that the Secretary of Defense conduct declassification reviews or release unclassified reports on American assistance to the dictatorship in Brazil and the coup in Chile, barring Pentagon funds from being used to enforce sanctions on Cuba, and many more. As the scope of national legislation has narrowed in recent decades, amendments to massive flagship funding bills like the NDAA have become a primary means of getting legislation through the gridlock. It is very encouraging to see AOC take advantage of this mechanism to force votes on these issues.* Of course, the centrists will not simply cede power to the left without a fight. Yahoo reports 13 Democratic House members and candidates have signed onto what they are calling the “Promise to America,” consisting mainly of vague commitments to principles like “Growth, Competition, and Broad Prosperity,” or “Safety, Security, and Human Dignity.” They have also stepped up their rhetoric, saying “there's going to be a war” between themselves and the new crop of progressive and DSA lawmakers, per Fox News. Of course, this all makes one wonder whether the Democrats would be in this position at all if they were this confrontational with the Republicans instead of their own voter base.* Another emerging theater of combat between the center and the left is the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The CHC is led by the lame duck New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who was defeated in his primary by Darializa Avila Chevalier. Both Espaillat and Avila Chevalier – or DAC as she has come to be known – are Dominican, despite Espaillat's last-minute smear campaign calling her Haitian, and she plans to join the CHC once she takes her seat in the House. Yet, POLITICO reports the CHC is divided about admitting DAC. While no member is going so far as to say outright that she should not be admitted, many, such as CHC Whip Sylvia Garcia of Texas, are saying things like if DAC is “aligned with all our priorities and all our legislative programs, we would welcome her.” Of course this raises the question of if she is not, would they still welcome her. The all-Democratic CHC has previously barred the entry of Republican Hispanic Congressman Carlos Curbelo of Florida and the Congressional Black Caucus barred Espaillat himself from joining after a feud between him and former Congressman Charles Rangel. In addition to DAC's accession, the CHC will also have to decide on a new leader with Espaillat gone. The Vice-Chair, Darren Soto of Florida, may lose reelection due to redistricting in Florida, leaving the seat up for grabs.* In more Florida-related news, on June 25th Florida Governor Ron DeSantis formally announced the closure of “Alligator Alcatraz” the immigrant detention facility much hyped in the early days of the second Trump administration. While DeSantis claims that the facility had simply “fulfilled the role it was designed to serve,” there is an alternate story being told in the native community. Native News Online has published a statement by Judith LeBlanc (Caddo), executive director of Native Organizers Alliance, which highlights that the facility was constructed and operated “in violation of the sovereign rights of the Miccosukee Tribe, who took the government to court for illegally constructing the center without their consultation or consent,” and hailed the closure as “a victory for human rights and Tribal Sovereignty.” The statement further decried “The administration's violent crackdown on migrant communities” as “an affront to all we stand for as Native peoples.”* Turning further south, the Guardian is out with a chilling story concerning the death of Monika Silva Koniuszek, a Polish anti-corruption activist, who was supposedly investigating self-dealing within the ruling Noboa family of Ecuador. According to her colleagues, Silva Koniuszek was investigating “Noboa Trading, the fruit conglomerate belonging to the family of the rightwing president, Daniel Noboa.” Specifically, they said she had been pursuing allegations that “several tonnes of cocaine had been seized in Noboa Trading banana containers,” and that “high-ranking Ecuadorian judicial officials were stalling the investigations.” Additionally, “Shortly before she was killed, she told friends that she had delivered a dossier of allegations to the US embassy in Quito.” Koniuszek was found dead with a noose around her neck, and Ecuador's interior minister announced that she had died by suicide even before the autopsy results were released. Once those results came out, they contradicted this claim, finding that her cause of death was “a blow to the head and strangulation.”* Finally, in neighboring Colombia, leftist candidate Ivan Cepeda, who lost the recent presidential election, has called on the people of that country to engage in mass civil disobedience, according to Jorge Bastidas, a Colombian Congressman and member of Cepeda's party. Specifically, Cepeda is demanding that the Colombian people not recognize the presidency of Abelardo de la Espriella unless and until he meets certain demands, including renouncing his U.S. nationality, disproving claims that he is a CIA collaborator, and vowing not to persecute and extradite his political opponents including outgoing President Gustavo Petro. Slovensko je druhé najhoršie v EÚ z hľadiska podielu elektromobilov na nových registráciách. Je to výsledok štátnej politiky, ekonomickej situácie aj celkového nastavenia spoločnosti. „Prechod od spaľovacích motorov k elektromobilom musí byť výsledkom dlhodobého vývoja trhu. Náš zákazník je stále pomerne konzervatívny,“ hovorí Juraj Krajcár, člen predstavenstva spoločnosti Západoslovenská energetika v brandovanom rozhovore, ktorý vznikol v spolupráci so ZSE Drive. Postupne sa však akceptácia elektromobilov na Slovensku začína meniť. Výrazným impulzom bol nárast cien energií po roku 2022. To robí elektromobilitu atraktívnejšou aj pre slovenských zákazníkov. „Vidíme to najmä na firemných flotilách. Záujem o elektromobily kulminuje práve v týchto mesiacoch a riešenia pre firemných zákazníkov tvoria najväčšiu časť toho, čím sa aktuálne zaoberáme,“ hovorí J. Krajcár. Firmy prechádzajú na elektromobily z racionálnych dôvodov. Chcú si zabezpečiť optimálne prevádzkové náklady po tom, ako narástli ceny pohonných hmôt. Je to významný faktor najmä pre firmy podnikajúce v doprave. „V poslednom kvartáli narástol záujem firiem o elektromobilitu v trojciferných číslach,“ dodáva člen predstavenstva ZSE. Tomu zodpovedá aj budovanie nabíjacej siete. V lete by mal byť dokončený ucelený koridor z Bratislavy do Košíc, čo umožní nabiť elektromobil najmenej každých 30 kilometrov. Zároveň nové technológie umožňujú skracovať dobu nabíjania. „Vo verejnej nabíjacej sieti dnes vieme poskytnúť výkon 400 kW, ale vo svete sú technológie, ktoré dávajú výkon až 1500 kW,“ hovorí J. Krajcár. To reálne vyrovnáva čas nabíjania elektromobilu s časom tankovania klasického auta. Takáto technológia príde aj na Slovensko. „V pilotnej prevádzke to budeme testovať čoskoro. Finálne nasadenie však bude závisieť od komerčných podmienok na trhu,“ dodáva člen predstavenstva ZSE.
