What does it mean to pledge allegiance to Jesus over earthly governments? Craig is joined by Jason Porterfield, author of Fight Like Jesus: How Jesus Waged Peace Throughout Holy Week, to explore the complex relationship between Christianity and the state. They address four topics often considered "too political" but essential for Christians seeking to faithfully follow Jesus's teachings, encouraging believers to examine where their true allegiance lies. Point by point, Craig and Jason discuss: Jesus spoke of the kingdom of God. The Gospels speak of giving one's pistis (allegiance) to Jesus. The New Testament writers declared Jesus, not Caesar, to be Lord. The early church refused to display any national flag. Through personal stories, biblical insights, and looking to early Christian perspectives on political involvement, the pair trace how government influence has shaped the church and consider what that means for believers today. Key Topics that come up in the conversation:

Interview with Max Porterfield, President & CEO of Callinex Mines Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/callinex-mines-tsxvcnx-drilling-for-high-grade-copper-riches-in-manitobas-flin-flon-belt-6063Recording date: 24th March 2025Callinex Mines is developing high-grade copper and gold-rich VMS (Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide) deposits in Manitoba's Flin Flon mining district. The company's flagship Rainbow deposit, coming within 90 meters of surface and drilled to a depth of 900 meters, represents one of the highest-grade copper resources in North America.Led by President and CEO Max Porterfield, Callinex has submitted an advanced exploration permit that would allow development of a ramp to access Rainbow and extract a 10,000-ton bulk sample. This first phase of permitting, potentially approved by late 2025, could lead to full-scale production after obtaining an environmental license."If you're buying Calinex today for less than a $20 million market cap Canadian, you're getting exposure to just shy of 6 million tons of some of the highest grade copper mineralization not just North America but on a global basis," stated Porterfield. The majority of Rainbow's resource (3.44 million of 4.7 million tons) already falls within the indicated category. The company has consolidated over 10,000 hectares of underexplored land, creating a district-scale opportunity in what it calls the "Pine Bay camp."Rather than focusing on infill drilling at Rainbow, Callinex is shifting attention to growing resources through exploration at shallow historic deposits. Primary targets include the "Visionary" area containing the Leo deposit and the "General" area with the Alberts deposit. Historical drilling at Visionary intersected significant mineralization, including 8.5 meters of 3% copper in one hole and 3 meters of over 5% copper with gold credits in another.Callinex is the only junior mining company with a 43-101 copper resource in Manitoba and the only copper resource within 30 kilometers of Flin Flon. The company maintains a tight capital structure with no debt, positioning itself for growth as it pursues a two-pronged approach of resource expansion and permitting advancement. With copper prices rising amid projected supply deficits by 2030, Callinex's high-grade resources in a stable jurisdiction appear well-positioned. As Porterfield noted, "Being in Canada, being in a safe jurisdiction, being in close proximity to this infrastructure and being in a position to be able to fast track that as our leaders within Canada look to explorers like Kalinex to transition and be the next producers puts us in an ideal place."View Callinex Mines' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/callinex-minesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Mindset Matters Part 2: Dan Porterfield - Growth in Action: Markera Jones and the Transformative Power of Educational Opportunity This Week on The Heart of Giving Podcast - in Part 2: We continue our conversation with Dan Porterfield and Robert Diggs, then hear directly from Markera Jones, whose remarkable journey from a segregated school environment to academic excellence at Franklin & Marshall College demonstrates how institutional commitment to talent can change lives. Four powerful insights: "Each educational environment needs to tend to what kind of student with what kind of values might end up there. Our research found that there was a triangle of values students would be attracted to - they wouldn't be a number but a person, they valued being in community, and they wanted academic seriousness." - Dan Porterfield "I went on a visit with my Upward Bound counselor... When we went on the visit, I remember just feeling a sense of welcome on the campus. It seemed like spaces that were well funded and well resourced for me to really learn things in a way that I didn't get in high school." - Markera Jones "F&M's financial aid package was the best one that I got. That grant, which came from donors who want to fund talent, really helped me to see these people believe in me, they value me, they want to invest in me in that kind of way." - Markera "At F&M, I got to have my first research experience where not only did I work in a psychology lab, it felt very special because this is the stuff that I was seeing on TV. It felt like I was doing this really important work in research, giving back to creating knowledge." - Markera on how F&M prepared her for her career path Check out part 1 published last week, where we began our conversation with Dan Porterfield and Robert Diggs about the transformative power of growth mindset in higher education. Dan shared how Franklin & Marshall redefined talent identification beyond traditional metrics to focus on curiosity, resilience, and saying yes to opportunity. Robert Diggs revealed how the "third spaces" outside the classroom shaped his development as a student and leader. They discussed how this approach to education not only benefits individual students but creates a vibrant ecosystem where everyone can thrive. Callinex Mines CEO Max Porterfield joined Steve Darling from Proactive to unveil the company's ambitious plans for 2025, following a highly productive 2024. The company has positioned itself for significant growth and development, focusing on expedited permitting processes, resource expansion, and exploration of its newly acquired land package. Reflecting on 2024, Porterfield highlighted several key achievements that have laid the groundwork for the company's future. These include completing critical engineering work on the Rainbow and Pine Bay deposits, conducting baseline studies at the Pine Bay Project, and preparing for the submission of an Advanced Exploration Permit. These advancements build on the 2023 Pine Bay Project NI 43-101 maiden resource estimate, which showcased impressive results with the Rainbow Deposit having an Indicated Mineral Resource of 3.44 Mt at 3.59% copper equivalent (CuEq) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 1.28 Mt at 2.95% CuEq. The Pine Bay Deposit is showing an Inferred Mineral Resource of 1.0 Mt at 2.62% Cu. He highlighted advanced engineering and baseline studies initiated to secure an Advanced Exploration Permit for Rainbow and Descendant, aiming for completion in Q1 2025. The company also expanded its land package in 2024 and finalized an agreement with Teck, removing a 25-year buyback provision. This milestone enables unrestricted exploration on geologically promising ground. Porterfield emphasized Callinex Mines' dual focus on permitting and advancing its 6.00 million-ton high-grade resource while targeting further exploration in 2025. #proactiveinvestors #callinexminesinc #tsxv #cnx #otcqx #cllxf #mining
Mt. Iliamna is an active cone-shaped volcano located one hundred and forty miles (225 km) southwest of Anchorage and seventy miles (113 km) northwest of Homer. It is part of the Chigmit Mountains and rises from its base near Cook Inlet to 10,016 feet (3052.9 m), one of the highest peaks in the volcanically active area of the Alaska Peninsula. Ten glaciers radiate from the volcano's slopes. Iliamna last erupted in 1867, and observers have occasionally seen smoke wafting from the summit since then. However, it is the weather surrounding the mountain, not the volcanic activity, that makes Iliamna dangerous. Clouds frequently cloak the mountain's peak, and turbulent winds buffet this mountainous region, creating some of the most hazardous weather on the planet. Coastal fog and rain often create restricted visibility and a low ceiling. For aviators, flying in this area of the state can be challenging, dangerous, and sometimes deadly. Between 1958 and 1977, four mid-sized planes either crashed into Mt. Iliamna or were destroyed by the turbulence near the mountain, killing a total of seventy-nine people. Over the last couple of years we've had multiple guests questioning the economic and moral value of a college education. But Daniel R. Porterfield, the Aspen Institute CEO and former President of Franklin and Marshall College, strongly disagrees. In his new book, MINDSET MATTERS, Porterfield argues that in our age of rapid technological change, the college experience is particularly valuable, especially to young people from less privileged backgrounds. At a time when it's become fashionable to bash American universities, Porterfield's argument is a timely reminder of the personal and civic value of a college degree.Daniel R. Porterfield is President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit organization committed to realizing a free, just, and equitable society. He has been recognized as a visionary strategist, transformational leader, devoted educator, and passionate advocate for justice and opportunity. At the Aspen Institute, Porterfield has worked to build upon the organization's legacy of societal influence and commitment to human dignity while positioning it for a future where it can make its most profound and lasting impacts. In recent years, the Institute has launched new initiatives focused on criminal justice reform, science and society, economic inclusion, grassroots and community leadership, and more. In the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, where the Institute was founded and where it maintains its Aspen Meadows campus, it has broadened its partnerships with the local community through the Hurst Community Initiative and deepened its connection with its aesthetic and cultural heritage through the creation of a $20 million educational facility and creativity corridor celebrating the works of Bauhaus master Herbert Bayer, one of the founders of the Aspen Institute. To respond to one of the most urgent challenges of our time, the Institute created the Aspen Partnership for an Inclusive Economy (APIE) in 2019 with a founding partner, the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, and a $26 million multi-year commitment from Mastercard. Through APIE, the Institute is bringing together its networks and programs with a diverse range of public, private, and nonprofit leaders to help reconstruct our global economy so that it drives greater security, opportunity, and resilience for all. Prior to leading the Aspen Institute, Porterfield served for seven years as the President of Franklin & Marshall College, a national liberal arts college founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1787. Under his leadership, Franklin & Marshall set records for applications, fundraising, and fellowships; developed cutting edge new centers for student wellness, career services, and faculty excellence; and constructed a new athletics stadium and visual arts center.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. Mike Palmer welcomes Dan Porterfield, President and CEO of the Aspen Institute and author of Mindset Matters: The Power of College to Activate Lifelong Learning, to discuss the value of higher education in fostering growth mindsets. Dan shares his background and explains why he wrote the book, emphasizing the importance of appreciating what college offers to young adults during a formative time in their lives. We explore the five growth mindsets Dan identifies: discovery, creation, collaboration, mentorship, and striving. The conversation touches on how these mindsets prepare students for a rapidly changing world and work life. We delve into the role of productive struggle, resilience, and overcoming imposter syndrome in college experiences, especially for first-generation students. Dan provides examples of students he mentored while President of Franklin and Marshall University who successfully navigated these challenges. The discussion also covers the importance of faculty mentorship and creating a supportive culture on campus. Key takeaways: Growth mindsets developed in college are valuable assets in today's fast-changing economy. Faculty play a crucial role in helping students develop confidence and overcome challenges. Investing in education at all levels is vital for national competitiveness and democracy. Dan concludes with an inspiring message about the power each individual has to create their own education and growth opportunities. Subscribe to Trending in Ed wherever you get your podcasts. Kody started out with gold buckle dreams in the rodeo industry. His drive to win the all around led him to compete in all the timed events, but that wasn't enough. He thought he could get more points if he got in the cutting. Little did he know that his connection to the cutting world led him to an introduction to one of the greatest of all time Buster Welch. Kody saw the opportunity in front of him and was able to go work for Buster on his ranch. He learned what hard work meant, a lot about cowboying, and a lot about the relationship between a horse and a cow. He realized that there may be more out there than day working and rodeoing for a living, so, with some encouragement from his better half, he decided to load up and move to Weatherford to learn the cutting horse industry. After working for and around other trainers he finally decided to go out on his own. It's definitely had its ups and downs but Kody is considered one of the best cutting horse trainers in the industry. Kody is also looking at other opportunities that don't require manual labor and that's how he got in 817 Horse Sales with his longtime friends. "The idea that my course idea has been done before or that it's being done by some really big names with big audiences, so there's no room for me, that's a lack mentality. As an entrepreneur you cannot have a lack mentality. You have to believe there's enough room for everyone including you. No one can teach quite like you, no one has your experiences, your style of teaching, your stories. No one's gonna be like that. You have to carve out your own space, and attract your audience. And the beautiful thing is you don't millions of people to follow you in order to be successful online. It's a lack mentality that you want to stay away from and start believing there's enough room for me." Amy Porterfield is a successful woman entrepreneur and New York Times best selling author of Two Weeks Notice. She is renowned for her expertise in creating and selling profitable online courses. With a background that includes working alongside marketing titan Tony Robbins, Porterfield has carved out a niche as an educator and influencer in the digital marketing space.
