Jesus referred to the devil as the ruler of this world. He has been given charge of it for a season. This will make sense when you live out the Kingdom Culture and have opposition. The devil is like a tenant but God is the landlord. His time is coming to an end and his authority and kingdom will fall - as Jesus is the King of Kings. How can we know? Pastor Paul shares this morning about how our confidence can be in the written word of God. Jesus responded to the devil be replying “It is written”. Never before has the Bible come under such attack but it is our foundation and we must hold fast to its teachings. What is written will out last what we experience and how we feel and what is written will give us hope and direction. The Sermon on the Mount contains lots of teaching about the kingdom of God. When Jesus taught the Lords Prayer He taught His disciples how to pray - it was an invitation for the kingdom to come. In this message Pastor Paul teaches us three things happen when the Kingdom of God comes to your life. Your Allegiance Changes. In the time it takes to blink an eye we are transferred/transported out of darkness into light went we are born again. We are delivered from the powers of darkness and transported into the Kingdom of Light in an instant. We are citizens of the kingdom of God BUT more - we are ambassadors of the Kingdom. Your destination & destiny changes. Your destiny and destination are linked and both are changed. Where God will take you will change because you are a citizen of the King. Your Values Change. The Kingdom of God works differently than other kingdoms. God sets a high priority on serving. When we serve God we open up possibilities that are otherwise closed. You find hidden talents and new abilities that help you go to the next level in your life. We are all called to serve. In the book of Ezekiel he sees a vision of a river flowing from the Temple. This is a picture of the presence of God. Like Ezekiel experienced different depths of the river so we can experience different depths of the presence of God. The presence of God can lead us and always brings life. You don't get it automatically but it must be hungered for and desired after. However there are other waters that are stagnant, bitter and devoid of life. Pastor Alex explores some of those waters - the culture of criticism, competition, corruption and challenges us to cast these to one side to wade deeper in the presence of God. Pastor Alex Robertson speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 18th July 2021
Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God all the time. All Kingdoms, whether they are spiritual, physical or geographical have a culture. Some aspects of those cultures may be good and worthy of celebration but when they contradict the values of the Kingdom of God then that must take precedence. Our values must not be shaped by the cultures in which we live or those around us but must be shaped from the truth of the Bible. We should not change and manipulate what the Bible says to fit it into a culture but draw from it foundation Kingdom values. In this message Pastor Paul explores how the Kingdom of God differs from many of the prevailing cultures around us and implores us to hold firm to the truth in the Bible. This is part 2 of a series of messages about the Kingdom of God - part 1 can be found at https://anchor.fm/lighthousemanchester/episodes/The-Kingdom-of-God-e135tt1
We all come under lots of influence in our life. We are influenced by friends, addictions, careers, parents and circumstances. When we encounter Jesus everything changes. If we are not careful we adopt and buy into the beliefs of the world. Living for the Kingdom of God is not the same as living under those other influences. We need to be influenced by the Spirit not the world. To be influenced by the Holy Spirit you need to listen to his voice. What you spend your time on will create an influence. We live in a world that is desperate for our attention. There are lots of voices trying to get our attention so that they can influence. Creating a space for God to influence has to be intentional. Pastor Jesse talks honestly and passionately about the power of influence, giving up control and trusting that God knows best and has our best interests in mind.
Jesus was accused of being a friend of tax collectors and sinners yet in Hebrews 7:6 he is described as being holy and separate from sinners. How is this possible? Jesus was an influencer for a Kingdom Culture and not influenced by the culture around him. In this message Rev. Dr. Colin Hurt demonstrates 5 way outlined in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 that we should separate from the culture around us. Wherever you live in the world you'll be surrounded by different cultures that are often opposed to a Kingdom Culture. How can we ensure we are not influenced by those but instead influence those around us? This hard hitting message demonstrates it can't be done by compromise!
Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God more than anything. Why is this important? At this moment in time we are surrounded by many different cultures - not just cultures of race but of sport, music and more! Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This can put is in opposition to other prevailing cultures. The Kingdom culture must transcend whatever other culture you belong to. Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is within us, has come, is here now and is also coming. There is a fullness of the Kingdom that is on the way. It is eternal and not temporal - a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. The Kingdom is greater than this world. Every past, present and future kingdom will bow before the Kingdom of God. Jesus went to the cross knowing he was the King of the eternal kingdom and we would become citizens and ambassadors of it. Pastor Paul Hallam brings this introduction to the Kingdom of God as he begins to outline some of the characteristics of the Kingdom and why it is important you belong to it! We are joined by Warren Evans, CEO of Sports Chaplaincy UK. Warren shared some of the work of Sports Chaplaincy using the acronym SPORT. See - If we look at a community no different than anyone else are we any different than those that don't believe? Can we see through the eyes of compassion? Pray - How do we pray with intentionality? Don't just pray for a win but pray for those around you and look for opportunities. is underused tool in our kitbag. Relationship - Programs and processes should only ever be tools to build relationship with others. You are part of and planted into communities for a reason - to sign post people to God. Transformation - Sport impacts communities so by entering into sporting communities we can then transform communities. How are you influencing people? Obedience - This is the most crucial aspect. God tells us to go and make disciples. We need to go and turn our rhetoric into reality! For more information about the work of Sports Chaplaincy please visit. https://sportschaplaincy.org.uk.

Reverend John Glass speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 30th May 2021
Pentecost has nothing to do with a denomination or brand of Christianity. There may be churches that call themselves Pentecostal but this doesn't refer to a place or a denomination. It refers to an experience! What happened on the Day of Pentecost was so powerful we are still feeling the impact of this event today! Without it there would be a powerless ineffectual church. What happened on that day was completely unique. A shift happened. The Holy Spirit went from from being with us to being in us (John 14:15-18). The Holy Spirit was active at creation and throughout the Old Testament - he moved upon or came upon people BUT he didn't indwell or infill in them. This changed from the Day of Pentecost. Pastor Paul Hallam explores how that shift and the experience of Pentecost gives us power - power to witness, power to overcome and power to believe! God hasn't called us to fit in and be moulded by the culture around us. Instead God wants us to RIOT - be Rebels in Our Time. Youth Pastor Bayanda Moyo shares at the very first RIOT Night at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 9th February 2020
We are not saved so we can deal with our problems for the rest of our lives. Jesus came to set us free, break chains and give us freedom from everything holding us back and holding us down. There is a calling on you to live a certain way - to love your enemies. Every opposition you face is a door of opportunity to live in the way Jesus did. Pastor Alex Robertson speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester in Sunday 9th February 2020.
There are things we need to leave in the past if we want to move forward in all God has for us. Fear, failure, frustration and frustration will all try and derail us BUT there is a way to overcome! Pastor Paul Hallam speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 2nd February 2020.
The Apostle Paul had a past. He wreaked havoc on the early church. Yet the wrote 1/3 of the New Testament. He knew how to press on and make sure what was in his past did not affect his future. We must leave behind the toxic, the difficult, the problems and the frustrations otherwise our pasts will hold us prisoner. Pastor Paul's message will help you leave your past behind and move forward in the purpose of God!
Have you ever been frustrated and thought “there has to be another way.” Maybe God has asked you do something and it doesn't quite add up and you say that there has to be another way. Sometimes the Kings of Israel found themselves in these situations. Sometimes we find ourselves in battles we didn't even choose to reclaim what is ours anyway! Pastor Jesse Willis speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 19th January 2019.
Pastor Paul Hallam delivering his keynote message on Sunday 12th January 2020 at the Lighthouse Manchester
It is impossible in the spiritual to have 2020 vision. There is so much about the future that we just don't know but there are principles and guides that are explained in the Bible. The characteristic of 2020 vision is that it is clear, it is focused, it is accurate and it is true. We can have some sense of 2020 vision in the what the Bible teaches us accurately and truly. Standards and absolutes are all up for grabs - truth is what you decide it is. We should expect these foundations to continue to shift. For this reason we need to know what we stand on! When the foundations shift you don't need to shift with them. The Bible should always be our unchanging standard for living. Pastor Alex Robertson speaking at the Lighthouse Manchester on Sunday 5th January 2019.
