00:00:27 Behavioral Tells is the new book from Patrick King. 00:01:23 Watch Where Attention Flows 00:03:03 The VDR is a way to visualize attention 00:09:32 Understanding “Group Flow” 00:18:32 Here are the takeaways from today's episode. Behavioral Tells: Read the Hidden Signals Behind Every Action. What People Reveal Without Saying a Word. (How to be More Likable and Charismatic Book 46) By Patrick King https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DYKN5V6H Unlock the hidden code behind human behavior—before it costs you opportunities, relationships, and influence. Most people think they're good at reading others. They're not. They project, assume, and misinterpret—then wonder why conversations stall, deals fall apart, and signals get missed. Behavioral Tells cuts through the noise and shows you what people are actually communicating beneath the surface. From bestselling author Patrick King, this is your field guide to decoding people in real time—without guesswork, overthinking, or relying on clichés like “just trust your gut.” You'll learn how perception quietly distorts everything you see—and how to fix it fast. How perceptual biases like the halo effect and projection silently sabotage your judgment The three perceptual positions that instantly sharpen your perspective in any interaction Why your expectations shape what you notice—and how to break that loop Practical ways to improve perceptual accuracy so you stop misreading people But reading people isn't just about what you see. It's about what you notice, how you interpret it, and how you respond in the moment. This book takes you deeper—into emotions, group dynamics, language patterns, and subtle behavioral signals most people completely miss. The ABC model for understanding why people behave the way they do Emotional granularity so you can distinguish nuance, not just “happy vs. angry” The SUE framework for asking questions that reveal truth without resistance How tone, word choice, and “meta-programs” expose hidden motivations Along the way, you'll learn why body language alone can mislead you, how attention flows in groups, and what everyday behaviors—like walking style, clothing, and even food choices—quietly reveal. Bottom line: This is not theory. It's a toolkit. Navigate conversations with precision Spot inconsistencies before they become problems Understand people faster than they understand themselves

Look, for this episode of “This Looks Like a Good Place for a Stickup,” we're dealing with the world of art theft and art forgery. Interesting stuff! No, neither of us had heard of this movie before, despite the intriguing cast, which includes Kurt Russell, Jay Baruchel, Matt Dillon and . . . Terrance Stamp? Really? Yes, really! In honor of this movie, Mike and I are attempting to replicate one of the masterworks of the 19th Century artist Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. Getting the color balance right, matching the elegance and superb attention to detail is no easy task but I have faith in Mike's superlative skills. This work from 1903, a later piece, is famous around the world and will surely fetch us a serious pile of cash. I'm fairly certain there have been no copies or reproduction of the seminal piece. Gaze up on a rare image of the legendary painting and wonder: the next time you see it on loan from some famous museum, will you ever truly know if it's the original . . . or is it ours. Also, give a listen about the movie! The Coolidge. Poll question: Which actor do you think just doesn't get enough work?
Kako izgnanstvo zaznamuje življenja mnogih Palestincev in zakaj je povezanost z zemljo za tiste, ki so bili z nje pregnani, temelj njihove identitete? O tem in o svoji izkušnji obiska Gaze v času genocida se z eno najbolj branih in pronicljivih sodobnih palestinskih pisateljic, Susan Abulhawa (1970), avtorico romana Jutra v Dženinu (prevedla Lili Potpara, Cankarjeva založba, 2023), pogovarja Petra Meterc. If you go looking for songs about the moon, they'll start falling out of the sky. Moon-themed songs are some of the oldest in recorded history as well as some of the most recent to hit the charts. They can be found connected to everything from organized religion to witchcraft, they come from all parts of the planet, and they show up in every genre of music. In honor of the 2026 blue moon, the hosts of "How We Heard It" embarked on a quest to find songs about the moon, and they were overwhelmed - not just by the sheer number of songs they found, but also by the extensive breadth of the songs. Earth's closest companion inspires all manner of emotions. And when you project your feelings on the moon, it reflects and enhances your mood. Are you feeling amorous? Lonely? Anxious? Content? Mysterious? Grounded? Gaze upon the moon and your feelings will intensify. In song, the moon can be blue, red, pink, silver and orange. It can be full, new, half ... or just a sliver. The phases of the moon can reflect the phases of life. Or the moon can just be an old goose. As the podcast's hosts discovered, the moon can be whatever you want it to be. And it seems like most artists have performed at least one song about the moon - from Frank Sinatra to Audrey Hepburn, from Elvis Presley to Creedence Clearwater Revival, from Van Morrison to Neil Young, and from Bjork to Bruno Mars. Just be careful with how hard you dig into moon-themed songs ... or you may end up seeing stars.

We went around the world for this Out Takes, featuring some of the latest queer films on offer this May from Chile, Germany and the UK . With the 2026 HSBC German Film Festival back on in Melbourne until May 28, we had the opportunity to speak with director Faraz Shariat about their film ‘Prosecution’ which is one of the featured Australian Premieres in this year’s festival. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2026 Berlinale, ‘Prosecution’ is described an engrossing tale of good versus evil that cleverly combines legal drama and thriller for a powerful and urgent story about the realities of Germany's judicial system. Our exclusive interview with Faraz Shariat saw us cover a wide range of topics related to the film and its exploration of queerness for the main character. We also reviewed ‘The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo‘, an intense and at times fantastical drama written and directed by Diego Céspedes that is streaming now on Mubi. The film unfolds in the early 1980’s in Chile in a dusty mining town nestled in the Atacama Desert, where eleven-year-old Lidia is the only child raised in a household of queer performers working at a local cantina. With his widely acclaimed feature debut, Céspedes emerges as a distinctive cinematic voice, crafting a poetic vision of love and resilience that also reflects the marginalisation and violence faced by queer communities today. Our final review for this program was ‘Mother Mary’, directed by David Lowery and featuring an incredible all female ensemble cast including Michaela Coel, Anne Hathaway, Hunter Schafer, Kaia Gerber and FKA Twigs, the film explores the complicated professional and personal relationship between iconic pop star Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway) who reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance. ‘Mother Mary’ is in cinemas now and features original music written and produced by Charli XCX, FKA Twigs and Jack Antonoff and sang by Anne Hathaway. The post German Film Festival with special guest Faraz Shariat and reviews of The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo and Mother Mary appeared first on Out Takes.

Beyond the Orientalist myth of being seductive, mysterious, and dangerous, what is the reality of Tangier? Professor of anthropology Majid Hannoum deconstructs the invention of the Maghreb and delves into the complex socioeconomic and racial fabric of contemporary Moroccan cities. He explores how colonial legacies continue to shape identity, from the very term "Maghreb" – which he argues did not exist in pre-colonial Arabic historiography in its current sense – to the phenomenology of color that influences modern social hierarchies in Tangier. 00:00 Introduction 01:50 The Colonial and Post-Colonial Invention of the Maghreb 03:31 Neighborhood Politics and Class Dynamics in Meknes, Morocco 06:12 Historical Evolution of Maghreb in Arabic Historiography 09:17 Deconstructing Orientalist Myths and the Seductive Image of Tangier 12:47 Historical European Gazes 18:03 Tangier in Pre-Colonial Times 19:41 Tangier in Fiction, Songs, and Folktales 23:41 Exploring Migration, Sexuality, and the City's Unseen Sides 25:59 Socioeconomic Realities 30:23 Migration Patterns and the Phenomenology of Color in Moroccan Urbanism 32:59 The Native Colonial Gaze and Socioeconomic Racialization 39:46 Decolonizing Ibn Khaldun & Challenging the Myth of European Discovery 43:24 Translation Ideology 50:43 Discourse Analysis and the Radical Critique of Academic Categories 53:40 Scholarly Recommendations for Unlearning and Decolonizing Knowledge Majid Hannoum is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Kansas whose extensive research focuses on North Africa. Read OnlineStanding by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. John 19:25–27If God invited you to be present at one moment in the Scriptures, to see it with your eyes, hear it with your ears, and experience it with your heart, what moment would that be? Certainly, Gabriel's announcement to Mary, Christ's birth, a miracle, or a sermon would be awe-inspiring. The moment, however, that perhaps best manifests pure and perfect love is the love shared between Mother and Son during Jesus' three hours on the Cross.Throughout His life, Jesus' mother was uniquely privileged to know Him like no other. She bore Him in her womb, nursed Him at her breast, bathed Him as a child, fed Him, watched Him grow, and was attentive to His every virtue. As His ministry attracted both great attention and harsh criticism, her Immaculate and motherly Heart remained perfectly attentive to Him and His mission. As tensions rose during the week of Passover, her motherly intuition filled her Immaculate Heart with an intertwining of the most holy love and sorrow imaginable. When Jesus was arrested, the pain was deeper than any human heart had ever suffered, and her resolve to be present at her Son's Passion was stronger than any earthly force could stop. No fear, threat, or sorrow could keep her from accompanying her Son to the very end. In perfect union with the will of God, Mary's love was unwavering. Her silent presence at the Cross became a testament to the boundless strength of maternal devotion. Just as she had embraced Jesus in the joy of His Nativity, she now held Him in her heart during His Passion, standing as both witness and participant in the work of redemption. As Jesus looked down at her from the Cross upon which He hung, the human consolation He received from His mother's gaze was all He needed. Her love and affection were His only remaining earthly possessions. Stripped bare, nailed to the Cross, and suffocating, His mother's love could not be taken from Him. Yet Jesus came to give all out of love—everything He possessed, including His mother. Out of love, Jesus entrusted her to John, the beloved disciple—and through him, to all of us—so that we might receive her as our own mother. As He looked at her with the deepest love ever shared between two people, He called her “Woman”—“Woman, behold your son.” By calling her “Woman,” Jesus revealed the fulfillment of her identity in salvation history. She was the woman foretold in Genesis and the woman revealed in the vision of Revelation. In that moment, when the heavens were torn open and grace poured down upon the world, Jesus' mother fulfilled her role as the New Eve and the new Mother of all the Living. She became the Mother and protector of all God's children, interceding for them with unparalleled love and participating in the mediation of God's grace. To John, who stood by her, Jesus said, “Behold, your mother.” With that, He thirsted, drank the bitter wine on a sprig of hyssop, cried out, “It is finished!,” bowed His head, and handed over His spirit. As we celebrate this Good Friday, fix your gaze upon the moment when human love, united with divine love, was revealed to the world in the most sacred way. The love between this Mother and Son, alongside the gift of His mother and the New Eve to all of us, embodies the selfless nature of divine love. Ponder the mystery. Pray that you may be spiritually drawn into that moment. Gaze upon their love and hear the Messiah, the Son of God, say to you: “Behold, your mother.” Hearing, believing, and responding to those words makes you present at that moment when love was perfected and salvation poured forth upon the world. Most glorious Lord, as You suffered upon the Cross, having nothing left in this world but Your mother, You entrusted her to us to be our mother, so that we could participate in the love that You and she shared. I do behold her as my mother, and You as my King and God. I love You and thank You with all my heart for the unfathomable gift You have given me. Jesus, I trust in You. This week, I'm reflecting with the team on my experience witnessing Jackie and Jordan practice obedience during the Blameless concert weekend that took place in February. We're talking about what it means to fix our gaze on Jesus when fear, doubt, and uncertainty can cause a hesitation to obey. In Matthew 14, we see Peter walk on water only while his eyes are fixed on Jesus, but the moment he focuses on the wind and the waves, he begins to sink. And honestly, it's the same way for so many of us when it comes to trusting God. But Jesus is so kind. When Peter began to sink, he called out to Jesus, and Jesus reached for him. And He does the same for us.Join the conversation as we explore what it looks like to trust God in the midst of fear. We discuss the tension of wanting to believe the Lord is faithful while battling uncertainty, and how faith is often not the absence of fear, but the practice of fixing our gaze on God in everything we do, until we see our complete assignment through to the end. This episode is for anyone who feels like they've been sinking under the weight of anxiety, doubt, or fear and it's keeping you from saying Yes to the Lord. I pray this reminds you that He is not distant in our struggle. He is near, steady, and faithful.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
