In this episode of Good Morning Liberty, host Nate Thurston ventures solo to discuss the intricate details of healthcare, specifically focusing on Obamacare and its role in the current government shutdown. As Charlie Thompson is away for the week, Nate delves into the political wrangling over extending Obamacare subsidies and the broader economic implications. He highlights the unsustainable nature of government-subsidized programs, likening it to the inevitable price inflation seen in other sectors with heavy government involvement. By dissecting articles from the Washington Post and comments from public figures, Nate builds a case against the continuance of these temporary subsidies, arguing that they only exacerbate the fundamental issues plaguing the American healthcare system. 00:00 Intro 00:35 Government Shutdown and Obamacare Debate 02:24 Healthcare Costs and Subsidies 02:46 Washington Post Articles and Political Reactions 03:38 COVID-19 Impact on Healthcare Subsidies 14:47 Market Dynamics and Government Intervention 17:00 Washington Post Editorial on Government Spending 26:50 Hospital Profit Margins and Economic Adjustments 30:31 Government Spending and Social Security Concerns 34:35 Obamacare's Impact on Health Insurance 38:29 Challenges in the Health Insurance Market

Because sin is expansive, we must learn to grieve sin in all its forms. Genesis 3:1–24 (ESV): 3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.' ” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” 16 To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” 20 The man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. 21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. 22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

FBI Profiler Breaks Down the Tunnel Vision That Ruined the Yogurt Shop Case With the Yogurt Shop murders solved, the real question becomes: what now? In this final segment, I and Robin Dreeke map out the reforms that actually matter—not symbolic ones, but structural, enforceable changes that protect truth, not narratives. We dig into: Interview design: swapping coercion for information‑gathering (PEACE-style), mandating full video, limiting session lengths, guarding vulnerable subjects Raising charging thresholds: never charge on confession alone—triangulate with physical evidence and independent corroboration Institutional red teams: formal skepticism baked into every major case Ethical limits on genealogical DNA use: how and when it should be used, how to document decision points Accountability for leadership: public commitments, timelines, and enforcement Why this matters: naming the killer is only step one. If we don't fix what went wrong, future cases will repeat the same tragedies. In this episode, we're getting real about what happens when you start loving yourself completely… and realize it kind of ruins your old life. We talk about those “foggy glass” moments when you finally see what you've been allowing, the people you've tolerated, and the patterns you've outgrown. It's messy, it's funny, and yes it can feel overwhelming at first. We get into how to set boundaries without guilt, navigate shifting relationships, handle lingering grief, and reclaim your peace. Plus, I answer listener questions about growth, parenting, relationships, and moving forward without holding yourself back. This episode is all about clarity, self-compassion, and loving yourself enough to live the life you deserve.

A year ago today, Justin and I got kicked off a flight, and what could have been a total meltdown moment turned into one of the biggest relationship lessons of my life. Over pints in the Amsterdam airport, I realized I'd been carrying the same fear in new clothing and it was quietly robbing me of experiencing the love I already had in my relationship. In this episode, I share the full story and the mind-shattering epiphany that cracked me open: why trying to control your partner's future resentment (or cheating, or rejection) only keeps you stuck, and how softening, trusting, and letting yourself be supported can actually transform your relationship. This episode is for you if:* You find yourself bracing for impact instead of enjoying the present.* Money, resentment, or “what if” fears creep into your love life.* You tend to control, fix, or over-function to feel safe.* You're ready to experience what happens when you stop gripping and let yourself be held. This isn't just a travel story, it's how you can stop letting fear control your relationship and finally feel the safety and joy you've been craving.

We're back live Monday 6 October but in the meantime, remember when...Ricki had her Logies moment stolen thanks to a confetti bomb courtesy of Richard Marx’s performance. While trying to present live on stage with Manu, Ricki ended up squinting through stage fog and glitter-drenched autocues like she was decoding Morse code. Add a thick emergency panty mission, a gown that doubled as a red carpet speed bump, and some cheeky shoutouts from Hans and the Today team, and you've got the most glamorous hostage situation in Logies history. Throw in Jimmy Barnes, Yelena Dokic, some cheeky Pang, and a few sus snubs—this year’s Logies had it all… even if Idol didn’t win.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Are we enthusiasts too blinded by excellent older sports cars, and therefore unable to celebrate even the ‘middle-ground' kinds of new cars? The guys acknowledge that fun is personal, and they unpack this topic that stems from negative internet reaction to the new Prelude. The first debate is for Konstantin M., who lives in LA and works as a driving coach for Porsche. Then, Alex D wants a ‘Goldilocks' car to scratch the driving itch. What options is he missing? Social media questions ask why LED light bars have become a signature EV style, and what cars left the most impact on the guys' early driving experiences? Audio-only MP3 is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and 10 other platforms. This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Benjamin Wittes and Natalie Orpett, and Professor of Law at Cardozo Law School Rebecca Ingber, to talk through the week's big national security news, including:“Uninvited Aerial Vehicles.” The Polish government is claiming that nineteen armed Russian UAVs penetrated its airspace last night. While Russians are suggesting no attack was intended, Poland has invoked Article IV of the NATO Treaty and worked with allied NATO aircraft to shoot the drones down. What might be happening here? And does it mean we're on our way to World War III as some are suggesting?“Bibi is a Killer Negotiator. No, Wait—Switch That.” Within days of the Trump administration tabling another ceasefire proposal—and, by some accounts, making progress in pressuring Hamas to accept it—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized a set of missile strikes that killed the leaders of Hamas's political wing in nearby Qatar. It's the first such move in a Gulf country, many of which have moved towards normalization with Israel through the Trump-backed Abraham Accords. What explains Israel's actions? And what do they portend for the conflict in Gaza and the region as a whole?“Cruise Control.” A week has passed since the Trump administration took the controversial step of targeting a boat alleged to be smuggling narcotics at the direction of the Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua with lethal force. The Trump administration hasn't repeated the move, but it's said it intends to. And U.S. military assets—including strategic assets whose use in a counter-narcotics military campaign is far from clear—have continued to build up in the region, leading some to believe that a broader campaign against Venezuela itself may yet be in the offing. How likely is a broader campaign? And could its implications be, legally and politically? In Object Lessons, Ben is cheering on a cadre of former FBI agents suing Kash Patel over their firings, and in the process, sings the praises of an accidental hero—the “Drizz.” Natalie, meanwhile, gets très littéraire with “The Elegance of the Hedgehog,” by Muriel Barbery—a book so French that almost nothing happens. Scott rang in his 8th wedding anniversary the traditional way: getting drunk in the basement and falling in love all over again—with The Paper. And Bec wonders just how much coin it's going to take to change the Department of Defense to the Department of War.To receive ad-free podcasts, become a Lawfare Material Supporter at www.patreon.com/lawfare.
