March 11, 2024 ~ Wayne County Executive Warren Evans penned an op-ed in the Detroit Free Press that he's concerned about the relationship between the Democratic Party and the Black community. He talks with Guy, Lloyd, and Jamie about how the party can engage with Detroit residents, and his upcoming State of the County address.

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans said Saturday that he's considering a run for mayor of Detroit and will make up his mind in a couple months.Evans, who has been the county executive since 2015, also talked about the new criminal justice complex at I-75 and Warren Avenue that has a 2,280-bed jail, a criminal courthouse and a juvenile facility. He said he expects to get the keys to the facility in about 30 days and then prepare to move inmates in. Evans made his remarks during his appearance on the weekly videocast/podcast, "Detroit in Black and White," with co-hosts Adolph Mongo, Vanessa Moss and Allan Lengel. The hosts also talk with Republican consultant and strategist Jason Roe, who discusses Kristina Karamo's controversial reign over the Michigan GOP.

Warren Evans became CEO of Sports Chaplaincy U.K. in 2015 and gained a Masters in Sports Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care in 2016. Warren is also the chairperson of the board at the Global Sports Chaplaincy Association, and was previously Chaplain for the Bradford Bulls. Warren was also Pastoral Director to the Rugby Football League. In this episode, Warren shares his heart for the sports world and urges the Church to extend service to sporting communities. He details his journey to becoming a sports chaplain and explains what sports chaplaincy is and isn't. Furthermore, Warren encourages listeners to GO!!! Serve others and build relationships, recognising our call to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever He has placed us. Warren also emphasises the importance of developing spiritual health as well as physical health, and shares practical advice on this. “But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. In Detroit, just 23 percent of the nearly 2,500 police officers live within the city limits. A 1999 law outlawed local ordinances requiring police officers to live in the city where they serve. Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, a former county sheriff and one-time police chief in Detroit, says requiring police officers to live in Detroit is "a great concept" but "very impractical to be able to enforce." I’m not saying don’t use a credit card, which gives you additional consumer protection in the event of a problem or the company going out of business before you receive ordered goods. Consumers who ordered beds on their credit cards from Warren Evans, which went bust in the last week, should receive a refund from the card company, whilst those who paid with a debit card or in cash have little chance of seeing their money again. Using a credit card is fine provided you pay off the balance before interest is charged. If not, the effects of high interest rates on credit cards and personal loans will hold you back financially for years

The most serious problems that developing countries face are increasingly international in nature. Climate change, water scarcity, communicable diseases, food insecurity and the depletion of forests and fisheries—all these things call for cooperation at the regional or global levels, as well as action at the national level. Such cooperation is often mediated by international organisations and much of it is funded by aid. But global aid is shrinking in this era of austerity and international organisations face strong incentives to direct scarce resources to urgent national priorities. Moreover, international cooperation has had few wins in recent years and international organisations are increasingly facing crises of identity and relevance, with their missions, policies and governance arrangements coming under fire from many directions. What would it take for international organisations to play a more effective role in dealing with global challenges important for development? Our three panelists addressed this question from complementary perspectives. Warren Evans talked about the financing and management reforms needed for the World Bank to play a more effective role in addressing climate change and providing other global goods. James Moody argued for more effective institutional arrangements to support innovation and the dissemination of knowledge for development. Patrick Weller presented findings emerging from his ongoing work on the governance of international organisations, illustrating how the informal dynamics of strategic decision-making both limit and create opportunities for reform.
