Blue collar people are some of the grittiest, toughest, bravest human beings on the planet. Every building, bridge, and road was built on the backs of their hard work. Every piece of raw material was mined by their calloused hands. They manufacture our go
I got so much gold from my interview with Sally Spencer-Thomas! She shared wisdom from all the amazing work she's done around suicide prevention- particularly for men and people who work in construction and surrounding industries. I'm excited to know her and partner with her in the future. Check out the podcast and learn about how every day people like you and me can save somebody's life. Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas was moved to work in suicide prevention after her younger brother, a Denver entrepreneur, died of suicide after a difficult battle with bipolar disorder. Here's some of the gold she shared: We used our grief to propel us into bold, gap filling efforts to prevent a similar tragedy in someone else's life. You are not alone - there are so many resources available. I've made efforts to see suicide prevention resources grow through humor, writing, and traditional psychology. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my new heroes Mandi Kime on the podcast. She had a crazy traumatic journey through infertility to being a mom of multiples and she shares some straight up gold. I'm honored to promote a story about a true badass of a woman in construction during Women's History Month. Mandi learned the power of self-awareness to transform her tragedy, and then gave us some tips on being more aware. Here's a quick one... An important note about self-awareness: you have to be willing to own your shit. What are you doing that is self sabotage? What role do you play in your success or failure? We all do it, so drop the shame and take an honest look at how you are helping and hurting your journey. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
Phil Holland faced death at the hands of police brutality, and came back to life. He learned not to take this on alone in the process. Phil was delivering pizza for his job and was shot at 14 times and hit twice - in the face and the leg. He survived to tell the story that police brutality is real and it happens to people who are completely innocent. Phil shares about the support he needed throughout his journey of recovery: Reach out. Don't face what you are going through by yourself. It will likely seem easier to go it alone; better, cheaper, even. Accept sooner than later that you don't have to rough it out on your own. The catharsis that takes place when you speak on what is ailing you will do you and your journey wonders. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
Sherry Genga based her book, The Shattered Oak, on a true story and in turn created an open and honest resource for others struggling. Her willingness to share the story is courageous and powerful. Listen to Sherry tell her story and allow it to make a difference for someone you know....or for you. Here's some of what she shares... I think most of us do occasionally struggle with depression, but most filter it out and let it go. Sometimes struggling makes us stronger and gives us perspective to let go of our past and absorb our mistakes along the way. Many of us struggle with self worth issues, but normally we rise to the occasion and succeed. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
Terrie Vanover was willing to look at her pain and trust that peace was on the other side. Now she teaches people how to deal with divorce in an empowering way. She's been especially helpful for men, including many men in blue-collar industries, to be able to get the support they need in those difficult times. Here's some of what she shared: One day I realized I couldn't run from my loneliness. I had to accept where I didn't love myself and learn to. On the other side of pain is peace. On the other side of fear is freedom. If you understand that life presents us with challenging circumstances and people show you where you still need to heal, then you can understand that this is an opportunity to grow,. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
Nelson Tressler has a secret - everybody struggles, it might just look different for all of us. Author of "The Unlucky Sperm Club: You are Not a Victim of Your Circumstance But a Product of your Choices" Nelson vulnerably shared his story with us and dropped a ton of wisdom along the way. Nelson shares that a lot of time we see people who are successful and we think they have it all figured out. He wants people to know we're all working on getting better and getting well. When people pull back the curtains you will see that they are dealing with their own situations. Don't feel like you're the only person struggling. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
Chris Knuth was an integral part of saving my life. It was an honor to help him tell his story and I appreciate him for his courage and willingness to share in service of making a difference for others. This is a very special episode for me and I hope you enjoy it and that it makes a difference for you. Chris learned to lean on others and take on a road to healing and feeling complete. It's a huge act of courage to be willing to seek and accept support. Here are some nuggets from Chris himself: I don't have to do it alone. I don't have to have all the solutions myself and I can rely on my staff, mentors, coaches and colleagues to help me. I started to heal the traumas of my childhood and to unload the backpack of all the weight I was carrying. I'm patient with the process. I realize it took me years to get into this mess and will likely take years to get out. https://carbocoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/mickcarbo/ https://www.instagram.com/carbocoaching/ https://www.facebook.com/CarboCoaching
