In this episode of ML4Q&A, hosts Chandana Rao and Mira Sharma speak with Dr. Lars Schreiber (RWTH Aachen University), along with his PhD students Mats Volmer and Max Beer, about the challenges of scaling silicon-based spin qubit quantum computers. Lars Schreiber shares insights into why semiconductor platforms despite their technological maturity have not yet achieved large-scale quantum systems. The conversation explores the practical realities of building spin qubit devices, from material imperfections and device variability to the difficulty of controlling millions of qubits. Mats and Max discuss their work on conveyor-style spin-qubit shuttling and T-junction architectures for routing qubits in two dimensions, explaining how moving electrons across a chip can enable scalable designs while introducing new challenges such as valley splitting and decoherence. They also discuss the surprising material physics that emerges when quantum informations starts to move. The episode also examines how these research ideas are transitioning into real-world technology through the startup Arque Systems, highlighting the shift from academic prototypes to industrial-scale quantum hardware. Listen to the full episode to explore the path toward scalable semiconductor quantum computing.
Toronto entrepreneurs Daniel Carson and Daniel Schreiber have been revelling in the spotlight ever since the Artemis ll astronauts blasted off into space on April 1. That's because the best friends' Goldy's Superseed Strawberry Lavender breakfast cereal was along for the ride as part of the historic mission's menu. Their product is made in a KSA-certified kosher plant in Etobicoke. It was personally selected by Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen to be among his home-grown pantry during the crew's 400,000 kilometre journey around the moon. It is the farthest distance any human, or cereal, has ever traveled from Earth. And while that floating jar of Nutella in the capsule garnered global attention, which was also made in Canada and is kosher, the two Daniels' all-natural, nut-free breakfast choice comes with a secret ingredient: Jewish pride. Carson has been deeply rooted in the Jewish community, working for Camp Robin Hood and also the Magen Boys, while his childhood pal Schreiber, who he met growing up in Thornhill, was born in Israel. On today's The CJN “North Star” podcast, they speak with host Ellin Bessner about how it all started and about their next-level ambitions to bring kosher cereal to infinity—and beyond. How do we decide what “good care” looks like, and who gets to choose the scorecard? In this episode of Turn on the Lights, Kedar Mate speaks with Dr. Michelle Schreiber of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Brenna Rabel of Battelle about how quality measures are developed, adopted, and applied across Medicare and Medicaid programs. They explore why measurement is essential for accountability, patient choice, and improvement, while also acknowledging its vulnerability to politics, feasibility constraints, and “teaching to the test.” Using diabetes and sepsis as examples, they explain how performance cutoffs are established, why “all-or-none” measures often face resistance, and what makes complex measures difficult to report and score. The conversation also addresses efforts to reduce reporting burden, including CMS's shift from broader MIPS reporting toward MIPS Value Pathways and the expansion of digital quality measurement through FHIR-enabled eCQMs. They conclude with a forward-looking discussion on how artificial intelligence could reduce manual chart abstraction and advance quality measurement, particularly as patient-reported outcomes play a larger role in shaping the future of value-based care. Tune in to hear how measures shape what health systems prioritize, what gets improved, and what “value” could look like in the future. Blood detected in Bob Schreiber's urine led to a diagnosis of Stage IV bladder cancer. This came after a cystoscopy, in which a tube is inserted into his urethra, taking a picture of the bladder. Twice without success, Bob hoped BCG treatment would address the cancer by instilling a set of chemicals inside the bladder to strengthen the immune system. As a result, he had to get his bladder removed. It was replaced with a neobladder, which was made from his small intestine. His recovery took close to a year, he has to deal with incontinence at night, but would his overall health is about 80 percent of what it was pre-diagnosis. In 2015, Bob's cancer journey began when a lab tech detected microscopic drops of blood in his urine. This got the attention of a urologist, who immediately suspected cancer and called for a cystoscopy of Bob's bladder. The doctor wanted to make sure there was cancer and that if there was cancer, to make sure it had not spread beyond the muscle of Bob's bladder. Thankfully, the cancer had not spread, but the photos from the cystoscopy confirmed Bob Schreiber had Stage IV bladder cancer. Bob was told in terms of treatment, the gold standard is the removal of his bladder, but he learned of a potential remedy called BCG instillation. Under this procedure, chemicals would be instilled into the bladder to strengthen its immune and defeat the cancer. Bob and his wife preferred to go this route, but the operation was unsuccessful. They switched hospitals and made a case for a second attempt at BCG instillation, claiming kidney damage that occurred on the first attempt may have compromised the first attempt's effective. A new care team went ahead with the second BCG instillation, but it, too, was unsuccessful. This left Bob with no other option than to have his cancerous bladder removed. Although he could have chosen treatment that would have left him with a bag to collect his urine, he instead went with a neobladder. That's a replacement bladder made from his small intestine. The difficult and dangerous took eight hours. A day after its conclusion, Bob got up and walked around the hospital floor. And he walked and he walked and he walked. By the time he was done, Bob said he had walked about a mile and a half! Hospital staff had done a better job of bouncing back from this particular surgery than any patient they had ever had. Whereas many patients remained hospitalized after this procedure for weeks, Bob went back home just four days after the surgery was done. Bob Schreiber said recovery was slow, but he made progress. He said then, and now, he is able to remain continent during the day but does have incontinence issues at night and has to make trips to the bathroom every three or four hours. Bob says his health is approximately 80 percent of what it was prior to his diagnosis, but he is extremely grateful to be able to chase after his small grandchildren. “Living for the STREEP” Series: We are here to celebrate the career of Mary Louise Streep….now known to most as Meryl Streep who has become widely known by critics, film-lovers, and audiences as likely our GREATEST LIVING ACTRESS. Ever since her earlier breakout roles in the late 1970's in films such as The Deer Hunter, and Kramer Vs. Kramer, she has carved out a filmography filled with brilliant performances in memorable films spanning a variety of genres including biopics, thrillers, family dramas, AND comedies. During this time, she has also earned a STAGGERING TWENTY-ONE Oscar nominations including THREE wins. Over the next several months, I will be revisiting one notable Streep film each month – each highlighting a different type of performance – culminating with the May 1 release of the long-awaited sequel featuring one of her more ICONIC roles as Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada 2.How you remake a stone cold classic like The Manchurian Candidate? John Frankenheimer's seminal cold war paranoia thriller was released in 1962 and became one of the more celebrated thrillers of that decade? Well if you're Oscar-winner Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Something Wild), you assemble a very top-flight A-list cast lead by Oscar-winner Denzel Washington, Oscar-winner Meryl Streep, and Liev Schreiber alongside a slew of up-and-coming talent at the time who would eventually become celebrated actors including Jeffrey Wright, Vera Farmiga, Kimberly Elise, and Anthony Mackie. The crazy story (which loosely adapts that of the original) centers on a Desert Storm verteran officer (Washington) who keeps having strange dreams and/or flashbacks to the war....and he's not the only one as he also served with a up-and-coming senator (Schreiber) who is about to run for Vice President, who MIGHT be having the same types of visions. Beyond that, the senator has a very controlling mother (Meryl Streep) who is also a senator and she has some VERY unique plans for her son to rise to power. And the shadowy organization behind all of this is named Manchurian Global who happens to have a lot of military contracts. Things gets just increasingly intense and dangerous for all involved....Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send a textSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
Lisa Schreiber has a bullish outlook for Palo Alto Networks (PANW) ahead of the cybersecurity company's upcoming earnings report. She sees the overall group insulated from the recent AI selling pressures impacting software companies, even adding it could be "a demand driver" as AI threats get more complex. Lisa believes cybersecurity budgets will become "non-discretionary spends" and adds that AI will be a tailwind for PANW. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – / schwabnetwork Follow us on Facebook – / schwabnetwork Follow us on LinkedIn - / schwab-network About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
Was steht ganz am Anfang? Aus "The Metropolitan Chronicle", 17.
Some people build businesses. Some people follow a calling. And sometimes… those two things become the very same path. This week on The Found Podcast with Molly Knuth, I sit down with fellow Iowan and "Molly Squared" guest Molly Schreiber, founder of Challenge to Change and the nonprofit Mindful Minutes. What started as a young teacher's love of education became something much deeper after unimaginable loss. After losing her first husband in a car accident at age 30 while raising three children under three, Molly found herself returning to one unexpected anchor: yoga. That quiet hour at the YMCA became the lifeline that helped her regulate her grief, reconnect to herself, and ultimately reimagine what education could look like for kids, teachers, and even workplaces. Today, her programs serve hundreds of schools across Iowa — teaching breath work, resilience, emotional regulation, and mindfulness practices that ripple far beyond the classroom. This conversation is about: turning wounds into wisdom creating space for "The Pause" helping kids build tools we never learned ourselves and trusting your inner compass when life changes course If you've ever wondered how personal pain can become purposeful work… this one's for you. What You'll Hear in This Episode Molly's journey from classroom teacher to mindfulness founder The loss that reshaped her life and leadership How yoga helped her navigate grief as a young widow and mom Why kids today need emotional regulation tools more than ever The "5 Parts of Practice" framework used in schools The surprising number of thoughts (and emotions!) we process daily Bringing mindfulness into workplaces and healthcare settings What it means to live aligned with your "noble goal" Why "The Pause" might be the most important practice of all Resources & Links Challenge to Change: https://challengetochangeinc.com Mindful Minutes: https://mindfulmins.org Email Molly: molly@challengetochangeinc.com Follow Molly Knuth + The Found Podcast

In seinem neuen Buch «Liebe!

Even though very bad things can happen, there’s a higher power that cares about you and loves you even through difficult times.” - John Kasich “When I ran for president, the people that I was meeting with, they didn’t really care about my position on issues. They really cared that I cared about them.” - John Kasich “If people can get involved in some way in their community, where you would be helping somebody else—helping somebody else is going to make you feel good.” - John Kasich “People are so focused on these things that are far away instead of focused on what’s happening right next door. Because of my Father’s love for me, I believe fundamentally that we have a God who loves us, forgives us, gives us grace, gives us gifts, and encourages us. Faith, to me, is a gift. I think that’s something I can hold on to.” - John Kasich “We may lose something, but we may never allow ourselves to feel defeated.” - Marty Schreiber “A person morphs into being a caregiver, and because of that morphing process, the mind, the energy, and the psychology—all of that has to change you as you morph from being a loving husband or spouse to being a caregiver.” - Marty Schreiber “A caregiver understands the importance of joining the world of this person who now is. And a caregiver has to let go of this person who once was so that we can now embrace the person who is now.” - Marty Schreiber “I had a chance, really, by the grace of God, to love two Elaines and to take care of two Elaines and to repay her for all of the great, wonderful things she did for me during our married life.” - Marty Schreiber “The medical profession does not understand that when there is a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, there are two patients. There is the person who is ill, and then also, there is the caregiver.” - Marty Schreiber “I know I couldn’t fight Alzheimer’s disease because it is impossible to fight it. But I do know that I could give my wife moments of joy. I do know that I helped her have a better life. There’s a lot of comfort that we can take in that.” - Marty Schreiber “If you are a friend or a relative of a caregiver, as someone who’s taking care of their loved one on the Alzheimer’s journey, one of the most important things you can do is to simply acknowledge that you understand what a challenge it is to be a caregiver.” - Marty Schreiber “It’s a difficult transition, there’s no question about it. You enter a dark room and you just kinda have to feel your way along and try to identify a specific guidepost, specific things that are going to help you on this journey to deal with this grief, to deal with this new world.” - Marty Schreiber ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel!
