When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl. That’s the synopsis for Stranger Things, the Netflix mega-hit, and I thought I would have been a massive fanboy about it but strangely, I’m not. And Dan isn't either. When I Was Your Age We are Dean (42) and Dan (19). Two brothers in-law who share very different perspectives on the world. We talk about video games, movies and TV shows (when we can stay on topic)From completely different generations, we both get confused and annoyed at each other on a regular basis; Dan loves playing stupid online games while I (Dean) prefer something a little more pedestrian and well, easy.Anyway, we “report” on the latest news from the video game and movie industry and basically argue about it. We also host the When I Was Your Age Podcast in which we cover the aforementioned topics as well as random nerdy news that has caught our attention. You can find the link for that here...https://wheniwasyouragepodcast.podbean.com/ We are also on Pinterest coz, you know, someone told us we should be on there. Here’s the link for that...https://www.pinterest.co.uk/deang0392/when-i-was-your-age-podcast/ And then we have our Facebook page. (No one had to tell us to be on Facebook...)https://www.facebook.com/wheniwasyouragepodcast/ Then there’s our twitter profile but we don’t really know how to use Twitter, we’re just on it coz it makes us feel “techy)...Um, Link Not Ready.... Oh, and last but not least, we do have a Twitch account so you can hear us argue while we are actually playing games. That’s this link here...https://www.twitch.tv/wheniwasyouragepodcast
We have just watched the new trailer for Jumanji: The NEXT Level starring Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Karen Gillian, Danny Devito And Danny Glover.
As we live in the UK, it has always been a bit of a mystery as to why our American cousins celebrate Independence Day, we know it's got something to do with Aliens blowing up the White House but that's about it. So, we decided to find out just why America Celebrates Independence Day. This past Saturday in Llandudno, Wales, Four Seagulls were mercilessly hit by a speeding car, leaving three of them dead at the scene and one severely injured. We ask who could be responsible for such a horrendous crime and whittle through the suspects until we are left with one person of interest. Find out who we think did it by listening to this episode.
We look ahead to this weekend’s release of the latest movie from the Conjuring universe and we’ve kind of got a few problems with it, specifically the Warren’s use of a babysitter. Also, Dan drops a little known-yet-fascinating fact about the Chucky doll. Tune in to find out what that is.
A quick check in to update you on our week. Plenty of boring stuff has happened. We talk about birthday parties, Red Dead Redemption being boring and some other stuff... From Wales in the United Kingdom, the WIWYA Podcast covers topics from video game and movies to strange local news stories that could only every come from Wales.
We both get very excited at the news that EA could be releasing a brand new Plants VS Zombies Garden Warfare game this year.
Dan had to get himself out of bed and attend a job interview this week. Luckily for you guys, I bugged his phone and was able to record the entire interview without his knowledge. WARNING! It gets pretty dark!
Dan is now a film critic. In his first review show, Dan attempts to review The Meg, a 2018 movie about a giant shark, or something like that because Dan doesn't explain it very well!
We discuss the best Battle Royale games on PS4, Xbox One and PC. We breakdown Apex Legends, Player Unknowns Battlegrounds, Call Of Duty Black Ops 4, Red Dead Online and of course Fortnite!
We take a look at the new trailer for Disney's Frozen 2 which hits cinema this November. We analyse what could be happening and what kind of direction the sequel will take.
We react to the news that Red Dead Redemption Online has gotten a fishing mode which makes us wonder if all the violent sociopaths currently playing will now find new ways to torture fish. And we talk about various serial killers...
We react to the news that the PS Vita is officially on life-support and the plug could get pulled any day now. When that happens, all us gamers will have left is the Nintendo Switch. Kind of a shame when you think about it...
After years of speculation, Nintendo finally reveal a VR add-on for their Nintendo Switch, kind of... See, it's a new Labo cardboard-thingy, not unlike Google Cardboard but the thing about that is, if it goes well then surely, Nintendo will release an actual headset, won't they?
It looks like Microsoft are about to drop some seriously stunning news regarding their Xbox Game Pass service. All signs are pointing to a cross-platform roll-out. We discuss what this could mean for the games industry in general.
We all love crisps, (or chips as our American cousins call them) but some companies just go too far with just how much they think we love them. Today we take a look at some of the oddest flavours ever attached to a potato. Oh, and in the spirit of the topic, we also both eat a bag of crisps live on air YAY! Do you remember Hedgehog flavoured crisps?
Is Google Stadia the future of gaming? The true Netflix of games? A future where you can pick up any game on any device? This sure does look like the future of gaming to me. (Dean) And Dan? What does Dan think about it? Well, it's hard to put into words...
No Mans Sky, oh how you let us down with your false promises. No Mans Sky was going to be THE game that I played forever. THE GAME that rendered all other games pointless. But it didn't turn out that way did it? However, with the new expansion No Mans Sky Beyond, it just might make things right. It might make No Mans Sky the only game I will ever need. Fingers crossed...
We are looking for help. 25 years ago, myself and a group of friends were camping out in a woodland area near the village of where I grew up. At around 2am; a solid white object flew overhead about 100 metres in the sky. It was bright enough that it illuminated the camp site and its trajectory suggested a possible impact in a mountain range approximately 2 to 3 miles away. Anyway, as I was relaying the story in the office to Dan this morning, Dan suggested that I use Google Maps to show him where this occurred. And that's when things got interesting. Drawing a direct line on the screen (we used a ruler) we noticed, in the mountain range, some aged skid marks on the terrain where I expected the impact site to be. Long story short, after a few hours of pondering the plausibility of it all, Dan and I decided to go and visit the crash site this weekend. We really need any advice on what UK law says about finding meteorites and what the hell we do with it if we do find it. Any help will be appreciated.
There's a new Streets Of Rage coming out this year. Yep. BRAND NEW. It's being developed DotEMU and SEGA and although plot details are scarce, what we do know is that it's set 10 years after Streets Of Rage 3 even though it's been 25 YEARS since that game came out on the Sega Mega Drive. 25 Years! Anyway, we talk about Streets Of Rage 4 and I get pretty excited about it but Dan, well, Dan doesn't seem to care much for it. No platforms have been announced yet but surely Streets of Rage 4 will release on the vast majority of them?
