Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Holiday Week edition of The Wright Report, Bryan covers new investigations into the lawmakers known as the Seditious Six, breaking developments in the Charlie Kirk assassination case, President Trump's sweeping order to re-interview every refugee approved under Joe Biden, and a deep dive into the global AI Revolution. He also closes with listener questions, warnings about AI addiction, and early holiday shipping advice. FBI and Pentagon Probe the Seditious Six: Federal investigators are reviewing six Democratic lawmakers who urged military and intelligence personnel to resist hypothetical unlawful orders from President Trump. Senator Mark Kelly is under Pentagon scrutiny that could result in recall or charges as soon as December 10. Bryan explains how such calls create a culture of insubordination and how similar movements in countries like Pakistan and Egypt eventually led to military dominance over civilian government. Security Failures in the Charlie Kirk Assassination: New reporting shows that Charlie Kirk's head of security, Brian Harpole, flagged rooftop vulnerabilities on the Utah campus but accepted a vague assurance from the university police chief, who replied, "I got you covered." Bryan argues that professional security teams never outsource responsibility to campus police, outlining how Harpole should have pressed for plans, deployed his own team, or pulled Kirk from the event. An official investigation is ongoing, but Bryan says the early facts reveal basic failures that contributed to a preventable tragedy. Trump Orders Review of All Biden-Era Refugees: Bloomberg reports that all 200,000 refugees admitted under the Biden administration will be re-interviewed and reconsidered for green card eligibility. Those found to have been approved improperly will have their status revoked with limited appeals. Democrats plan to sue, although the White House cites widespread failures in vetting under Biden. Listener questions lead Bryan to explain why proper vetting was not possible — from fake IDs and nonfunctional federal databases to the absence of cultural fit screening. A Nation of Immigrants, but Not Without Standards: Bryan contrasts historical immigration patterns, which centered on European migrants who shared language and cultural norms, with modern arrivals from countries whose governments cannot verify identities or criminal history. He argues that America must re-embrace expectations of assimilation, loyalty, and work, echoing Theodore Roosevelt's warning about divided identities. China's AI Factories and the New Industrial Revolution: The Wall Street Journal reports that China is using AI-infused robots and fully automated "dark factories" to produce goods faster and cheaper with minimal human labor. Bryan answers a listener's question about AI bubbles and universal basic income, explaining why he believes AI will reduce the need for human workers, reshape immigration policy, and create a divide between nations that benefit and those that collapse under labor displacement. He warns that American tech companies are pursuing highly addictive chatbots designed for engagement rather than accuracy, creating what he calls "virtual heroin" for vulnerable users. U.S. Cargo Shortage Before Christmas: Bloomberg reports that UPS and FedEx have grounded portions of their fleets after an MD-11 crash in Louisville. UPS has lost about 10% of its cargo aircraft, and FedEx about 5%. Bryan advises listeners to order holiday gifts early to avoid potential delays. OneLegupAlex News - Pres. Trump and Mayor-Elect Mamdani's WH Meeting Recap - A Shocker 11-21-25
Investigative journalist Liz Farrell and producer David Moses examine a disturbing new chapter in the ongoing saga surrounding “Pastor” JP Miller and the Horry County Police Department. What began as a protest seeking Justice for Mica has spiraled into a maze of legal complaints, retaliatory tactics, and baffling law-enforcement decisions—and now the arrest of protester Sandra Caron for writing on a $50 sign JP allegedly created to antagonize her. (29:00) Then we're diving into attorney Jonny McCoy's powerful press conference on behalf of former HCPD employees Mikayla Moscov and Kelsey Manemeit, who allege retaliation and misconduct inside the department. Shocker… today we're talking about Good Ole Boy systems protecting powerful men while punishing those who speak out. So much to cover, so let's dive in!
BT & Sal lay down their fiery NFL Week 12 Power Up Rankings with some huge shakeups and controversial picks. Sal kicks off the debate by putting the Denver Broncos at number five (a team BT has championed for weeks), while BT controversially drops the 9-2 New England Patriots to number two, and excludes the Eagles entirely, despite their 8-2 record, citing a fundamental lack of belief in the champs. The big head-turner is BT's Super Bowl prediction of the Broncos vs. 49ers, as he trusts Denver's defense and Sean Payton's coaching more than the struggling Chiefs. Sal pushes the 49ers into his top five, banking on their health and "soft schedule," while he crowns the Rams as the best team in the NFC. They also briefly touch on the Bills' inconsistency ahead of their Thursday night game and the perplexing nature of the winning-but-flawed Eagles.
BT and Sal kick off the show with the bizarre video of Cam Skattebo performing a "shoey"—drinking an energy drink from a cleat—and his sideline antics. The hosts ignite a debate over a hypothetical Yankees trade for Tarik Skubal, questioning if a package including Spencer Jones and Will Warren is enough to beat the competition, and are shocked that ESPN ranks the Yankees' farm system at a disappointing 25th, compared to the Mets' #1 ranking. The conversation pivots to the international market, where they discuss the race for Japanese stars like Kaz Okamoto and the surprisingly low batting average of Munetaka Murakami against fastballs. A caller then proposes a trade for Fernando Tatis Jr., forcing the hosts to dissect his massive, albatross-like contract. In the Call of the Day, the guys argue over Alex Bregman's declining value against Ryan McMahon's solid defense. The show wraps up with a fun time-machine question: What single historical sporting event would they go back to?
Wichita State assistant coach Collin Wilber joins the podcast to talk catchers and how the importance of coaching the position is growing. We talk about the use of video to improve skills and why it can be so important to help pitchers by turning borderline pitches into strikes. If you, like me, have lived most of your life in fear of foundation, this week's guest is your saviour. Because this woman saved us no-makeup makeup girls' lives. Back in 1991, Bobbi Brown was a makeup artist frustrated by the fact that most makeup looked like a mask. So she produced a range of 10 lipsticks that actually matched people's lips. Shocker! Those lipsticks were the start of something huge: the first eponymous make up artist led beauty brand. A brand that Bobbi sold to Estee Lauder just four years later for a reported $74.5million dollars Then, after 22 years at Estee Lauder, Bobbi left the company. Suddenly. Then… silence. What nobody knew at the time was that at the age of 37 she had signed a 25 year non-compete. Twenty five years! And she used that time to regain her mojo. Then, Bobbi reappeared with her brilliant new brand Jones Road, (hands up I'm a big fan) and now she's decided it's time to tell her own story, in her own words in her autobiography, Still Bobbi. Back in 2022, to celebrate the launch of Jones Road, Bobbi joined me from her house in the Hamptons to talk about how she reinvented yourself in her sixties. We also discussed the emotional wrench of leaving her name and her legacy behind, how to get what you want at work (and at home), seeing the beauty in growing older and the joy of nobody trying to fix you. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Still Bobbi by Bobbi Brown as well as the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com. • And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com Learn more about your ad choices. It has happened again. A new paper, based on a tranche of unsealed historical documents, casts serious doubt on a piece of social psychology research from the mid-20th Century. Shocker! This time it's about some of the fundamental inspirations for the idea of cognitive dissonance—the idea that holding contradictory views in one's head creates discomfort and a need to change one of the beliefs. So what does the new historical research say? What about all the studies that claim to find evidence for cognitive dissonance—surely the whole thing isn't a load of nonsense? Are we "homers?" Yes. Are we "Drinking the Kool-Aid?" Yes. Are our expectations on this squad "higher than Marty during the third encore of a Springsteen show?" Yes, and YES. But tune into this week's episode and we'll explain why! This team goes 11 deep! And that's just at the wing! We'll discuss starting line-up shenanigans, lock down defense, Warley's warpath and the inevitable metamorphosis of Davis Fogle into McLovin'. Delve into the depths of the TSU victory and explore the possibilities of a front line takeover against Oklahoma and Creighton, two teams with talented scorers but who lack reliable front court defenders. Then stick around for Crazy/Not Crazy, in which Adam fails to deliver the appropriate drops. It's everthing you could hope for in an episode of Free Ira Brown: THE Gonzaga Hoops Podcast. MAGA personalities are suddenly raging at Tucker Carlson, who just conducted a shocker of an online interview with white nationalist and open antisemite Nick Fuentes. They're attacking Carlson for hosting a “Nazi-sympathizer” who espouses the “foundation of Nazism,” calling this “sick” and “despicable,” and claiming it shows that the effort to “gatekeep the antisemitic, hateful freaks out of the Republican Party” has “failed.” We think one reason this angered right-wingers is that it revealed too much about MAGA: It can't keep the hateful views at bay, because the movement constantly traffics in similar ideas, albeit in somewhat more subtle ways. We talked to David Austin Walsh, the author of Taking America Back: The Conservative Movement and the Far Right. He explains how all this sheds light on the importance of racists and other extremists to the MAGA coalition, how it previews the coming post-Trump struggle over the MAGA movement, and how it captures the broader story of the American right's refusal to police its extremists over the last half-century or more.
