Welcome to the DSTE Christmas Spectacular!! There's no Joe or Jono this week so Sam takes over hosting duties and is joined by JT and Ste to talk all things games, TV, and film + books this week. We have a Christmassy catch up before JT's new section Joe-Schmo Rage Baiting'! We also take a quick look at the new Street Fighter film trailer, the 2026 reboot directed by Kitao Sakurai and starring Noah Centineo as Ken and Andrew Koji as Ryu. Ste gives his obligatory World of Tanks update, the enduring armoured warfare MMO, and talks with JT about playing The Outer Worlds 2. This much-anticipated sci-fi RPG sequel from Obsidian Entertainment just launched this October, taking players to the new star system of Arcadia. JT played the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 game as we discuss the blatant rinse and repeat nature of COD (yet it's still fun) and the campaign (or lack of) vs. online gameplay. The pod has an in depth discussion around how games are priced and marketed around free game models with season pass/DLC. We then drop into Sam's Steam Deck Corner, where he's revisiting Trials Evolution, the 2012 physics-based racer from RedLynx. Next, we open Ste's Book Club to discuss Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi epic Dune and a Haruki Murakami marathon covering the melancholic Norwegian Wood (1987), the metaphysical Kafka on the Shore (2002), and the dystopian epic 1Q84 (2009). JT sits us down to tell us all about The Chair Company, the new HBO comedy-thriller from Tim Robinson about a man who uncovers a corporate conspiracy after his chair collapses during a presentation. We also test our Duolingo language skills by watching foreign TV shows: Schlag Den Star, the long-running German celebrity competition; Deutschland 83, the stylish 2015 Cold War spy thriller; and One Cut of the Dead, the ingenious 2017 Japanese meta-zombie film by Shin'ichirō Ueda. Sam covers The Beast In Me, the new Netflix psychological thriller starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys, and we chat about the massive Netflix vs. Paramount bids for Warner Bros. Discovery, as the streaming giants fight over the future of HBO and the DC Universe. The feature film this week that is unquestionable a Christmas Film - Jingle All The Way, the 1996 holiday classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger on a desperate quest for a Turbo-Man action figure. There were several debuts on this day, such as Doctor Who and World of Warcraft, but also the final episode of Orange Lounge Radio was done right after my show, and we say goodbye. I will be hosting at Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 in January! Schedule will be posted in mid December. I am a sucker for the Picross series of nonogram games on the Nintendo Switch, and there are two new games celebrating Capcom and SNK, but they are twice the price of their predecessors. A US Lawmaker has taken aim at the use of Generative AI in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and calls for regulations to protect jobs. Vedinad, a nominee for Best Debut Indie Games at The Game Awards, has withdrawn his nomination because Megabonk is not his debut indie game release. Then we talk to Rob about Orange Lounge Radio: The Final.

#craftbeer #zelda #blops7 HEY! LISTEN! Zelda is finally coming to the big screen and we have a handful of stills from the upcoming live-action film --- and have plenty of thoughts. Will it do Hyrule right? Only time will tell. However, speaking of movies, the social media app for movie nerds is officially debuting an online rental service. And ending on video games, we take a look at the state of the slug match between Call of Duty Black Ops 7 vs. Battlefield 6, plus Black Ops's controversial use of AI. Cheers! Episode 402 - Trophy Hunters AnonymousThis week on PS This Is Awesome!, we dig into a packed slate of PlayStation updates and industry chatter. First up, Jason Schreier reports that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet won't land until 2027, which actually lines up with Naughty Dog's habit of dropping major releases near the end of a console cycle — just like The Last of Us Part I and II. We also take a look at Zoopunk, the newly announced prequel to F.I.S.T., bringing third-person action to that universe in a way that already looks surprisingly slick.Bungie's Marathon is running another closed playtest this month, and we discuss what that might mean heading into 2026. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 just posted its worst Japanese retail launch in two decades, prompting us to question the series' future dominance.Jake breaks down the massive Ghost of Yōtei 1.1 patch, packed with New Game+, new armor, and plenty more. We also react to Skate Story launching day one on PS Plus Extra, and we wrap things up with the wild new gameplay trailer for Hellraiser: Revival, which looks absolutely unhinged in all the best ways.Another fun, news-heavy week of PlayStation talk — let's get into it.By joining our Patreon community for ONLY $1.00 per month, you'll enjoy exclusive benefits:Early AccessPersonalized ShoutoutCustom Die-Cut Vinyl StickerVisit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one, come back — we try to offer something for everybody. PlayStation has had an interesting year, where its smaller output in terms of first-party releases has not hurt it at all in terms of console sales. The gaming giant has made several future-facing announcements, one of which includes the existence of PlayStation 6 not that far down the line. Sean and Marc look into PlayStation's year from its games to its other media endeavors and what things look like heading into the looming 2026. An interesting take from Strauss Zelnick that we are headed to a PC future may mean that Xbox is right? But will it be the leader on that end? As two different anecdotal reports state that the recently announced Steam Machine may not be as price-friendly as many were hoping it would be. Could it be compounded by this ongoing memory shortage? Also, Xbox had its Partner Preview event, which included an interesting list of games. Not to mention, its weird announcement of Xbox Crocs that came out today as well. Marc has spent some time with Once Upon a Katamari, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is down sales-wise, while Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders are booming in its stead. This week delivers one of the biggest news drops of the year across PlayStation, Xbox, and the wider gaming industry. We break down PlayStation's massive Black Friday 2025 deals, including $100 off PS5 consoles (Standard, Digital, and Pro), major discounts on PSVR2, PlayStation Portal, DualSense controllers, Pulse headsets, and more. We also cover the huge PlayStation Plus sale, plus deep cuts on hundreds of digital PS5 and PS4 games—just in time for holiday shopping. But that's only the start. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is stumbling hard out of the gate. UK physical sales are down 61% compared to Black Ops 6, Steam concurrency is far below expectations, and Activision appears to be quietly hiding player-count data. We look at what's causing the drop—AI art controversy, campaign reception, franchise fatigue—and what it means for Call of Duty going forward. We also dive into the Game Awards 2025 nominations, where indies dominate the field. With Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hades 2, and Hollow Knight: Silksong going head-to-head with Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, this year's GOTY race might be the most competitive ever. Meanwhile, an Xbox insider claims PlayStation is pulling back from PC releases, contradicting earlier reports of day-and-date launches. With Steam Machines, cross-buy rumors, and shifting exclusivity strategies across the industry, we break down what's real—and what's noise. Plus rapid-fire FLASH NEWS: – Mafia: The Old Country gets a major free update – PS5 Welcome Hub adds stats, seasonal backgrounds & new widgets – VatiVidya announces an official Elden Ring lore book – Twisted Metal renewed for Season 3 – A massive Ghost of Yōtei update arrives next week with New Game+, new vendors, new cosmetics, replayable content, stat tracking, armor upgrades, Photo Mode enhancements, accessibility options, and more If you love PlayStation, industry analysis, and real-time gaming news breakdowns, this episode is absolutely packed.
