The #1 podcast for creative women who want to grow in biz + grow in life. Whether you are a seasoned vet, or don't even know where to start, you are welcome here.
Today’s guest is the talented and absolutely hilarious Sarah Baumann. Sarah is an illustrator based in Austin, Texas. As a college junior, she started an Etsy shop in her dorm room as an experiment and found she loved the hustle of small business. She grew her shop until graduation where she took it full time and never looked back. She now has about 50 active wholesalers and sells her products on Etsy, her own website, and Amazon. She loves her Giant Greyhound, Moose, lots and lots of color, and creating products that celebrate hometowns. I met Sarah at a conference a few years back and we really only had one or two interactions and I've never forgotten her since. There’s two things that make me not forget Sarah- one of them is she is freaking hilarious- I think we just sat next to each other at a conference for like two seconds but she really left an impression. And the other thing is she had such a cool niche in what she did. She makes these really cool illustrated maps out of people’s hometowns and I will just never get over it. Enjoy our chat!
Today’s guest is my favorite little nugget, Hope Taylor. Hope is a senior portrait and wedding photographer based in Charleston, SC. She’s also an educator and speaker who shares weekly content on her YouTube channel and is passionate about helping entrepreneurs build businesses they love. This girl is a business powerhouse. You would not believe the knowledge that this girl carries. I'm so pumped to have her on the pod today. We’ve traveled the world together and now we’re back on the pod for a little reunion. Enjoy!
Today’s guest is the ever-so-talented and one of my really good friends, Rachel Traxler. Rach is a destination wedding and elopement photographer, making photos a warm, joyful and connective experience. She’s a Type 7 enneagram, so her heart for spontaneous adventure is BIG. Even though she lives in a small Wisconsin town of 600 people, she has been able to market herself to travel the world, all while doing what she loves. This girl is no joke and you are about to LOVE today’s episode all about marketing yourself in the destination market, so let’s dive on in!
I am so pumped to switch things up just a little bit today and bring a new kind of guests. We’re bringing on Sam, who goes by The Sam Plan on instagram, and she is a body-positive influencer with a heart of gold and so much knowledge. I'm so excited for you guys to learn from her today and hopefully find a newfound respect for your body and love for your body that you didn’t have before. So many of the things she said had me with my “praise hands” in the air. It was like “finally I'm understanding some of these things on a deeper level.” Sam is a bodybuilder turned health and wellness coach who after years of working towards the ideal body, realized it was counterproductive to her goal of fulfillment, health and happiness. Something we can all relate to. Now she coaches others to uproot their confidence in their best selves. So today we’re talking about health, happiness, social media and all the things. Enjoy!

As I sit here on my hotel balcony in sunny Mexico and watch the waves roll in I cannot help but have a "look ma, I made it" kind of moment. To be honest, I have this moment every time I am given the opportunity to travel. I am here to photograph another amazing love story, and I never take it lightly that I quite literally am living out the life I dreamed of for so long. As I was deciding what I wanted to record for todays podcast episode, this place and this view immediately inspired me. I want to share 3 ways you can start booking destination sessions!
Questions answered in todays episode! 1. You became a creative business owner in 2014. Can you tell us about that business a little bit? (We will go into depth on your WGG interview, but just so people can get to know you) 2. Being a creative business owner is hard, and it's easy to throw yourself wholeheartedly into what you do. What tips do you have for finding balance in life and biz? 3. Could you share with us a few examples of seasons of burnout you experienced and how you re-prioritized you health and wellness. 4. I know you got into running in 2019. What has that looked like for you and what advice to you have for anyone who might be holding themselves back from something new like this? 5. You recently decided to become a certified holistic nutritionist. What made you pursue that? 6. What are some tips you have for experiencing health and happiness and balance?
1. How did you get into blogging? What did life look like leading up to that? Taylor was a teacher first! She would share pictures of her work outfits just because she enjoyed it, and then slowly started to be more consistent. 2. What does a typical work day or week look like for you? Emailing for brand deals, chasing Keldon around the house, ordering clothing, posting on social media, posting on LTK, etc! 3. How did you start to work with brands and what does that look like? At first she just reached out to brands via email for product trade, and this allowed her to slowly build relationships with brands and eventually they were reaching out to her! She now gets paid for sponsorships and works with big name brands like Target, Walmart, etc! 4. When did you go full time and what did that transition look like for you? She was working full time, but was slowly ready to make the transition. Luckily, she got pregnant with her son Keldon so she used her maternity leave to go for it and never looked back! 5. Best piece of advice you got about running your own business? Stay true to yourself, be authentic, and don't try to be like everyone else! 6. Any exciting things happening this year you are excited about? Continuing relationships with brands she loves and moving into a new build soon! 7. Where can our listeners find you? I am a 26 year old destination love story photographer who loves Chipotle, snugglin my hubs, my boston terrier pups, chocolate chip cookies, epic adventures, Hallmark movies, laughter, wind blown hair, and genuine souls. I have such a passion for meeting new people, supporting big dreams, and long conversations. When I am not hiking somewhere with my camera you can find me snuggled up watching Netflix, being goofy with my hus-babe, shopping, planning my next trip, or drinking a cider beer - angry orchard anyone? I started my biz my first year of college accidentally -was always into photography -took a film class -bought a camera (aka spent all the money in my bank account) -started taking pictures of my roommates -made a FB page to share my work -failed out of college -stopped playing ball and went to a new school -studied marketing and photography but the photography program was not my style -dropped out of college, quit my job, and rented a studio -my biz tripled -been full time for 4 years I played sports my whole life - I think that is where my leadership and need to educate others comes from. This is why I created this podcast - it feels like the perfect next move, and I am thrilled you are on this journey with me.
A quick mini-sode to give you a better idea on what this podcast is all about!
