Dr. Anne Truong and Dr. Mike Woo-Ming discuss the importance of income diversification for physicians, highlighting how traditional medical careers often lead to burnout due to high workloads and limited fulfillment. They emphasize the need for doctors to work smarter, not harder. They both share their rigour and transitioning from conventional medicine practice to entrepreneurship. Dr. Anne Troung shares her realization of the value of working on her business rather than in it, by leveraging systems to create sustainable and scalable income streams. They also stress the importance of investing in oneself, whether through personal development by acquiring new skills like negotiation and marketing, or building revenue-generating assets. Dr. Truong reveals she has 18 income streams, purely derived from her medical expertise, and not stocks nor real estate. They encourage physicians to think beyond clinical work, and leverage their knowledge to create passive income through consulting, speaking or online ventures. Ultimately, the message is one of empowerment, that doctors don't have to stay stuck in a cycle of burnout or "golden handcuffs", but to invest in themselves, explore new opportunities and build systems that work for them.   Three Actionable Takeaways Work on your business, and NOT in your business. Build systems and processes that allow it to run without your constant involvement. Systems make for sustainability and enhanced efficiency. DON'T trade time for money Work smarter, not harder! Think of other ways to leverage your medical expertise and generate income outside the consulting room. Self-investment is the highest form of investing. On this episode of The Indie Made Business Podcast, we're tackling the endless to-do list that every handmade business owner knows all too well. Overwhelm ends here! We're diving into five actionable tips that will help you take control of your day, focus on what truly matters, and build real momentum in your business. Each tip is designed to help you stop spinning your wheels and start making meaningful progress—without burning out. Timestamps & Key Takeaways: [00:02:21] Tip 1: Prioritize Your Tasks Use the Eisenhower Matrix to categorize tasks into four groups (urgent/important, important/not urgent, etc.) and focus on what truly drives your business forward. [00:04:54] Tip 2: Break Tasks into Smaller Steps Overcome task paralysis by breaking big projects into manageable actions. Example: Launching a new collection? Break it down into steps like writing product descriptions or taking photos. [00:06:01] Tip 3: Use Time Blocking Assign dedicated time slots to specific tasks to avoid distractions and improve productivity. Test methods like the Pomodoro technique or uninterrupted work blocks to find your rhythm. [00:07:10] Tip 4: Apply the Two-Minute Rule If a task takes two minutes or less, tackle it immediately to prevent minor tasks from piling up and stealing mental space. [00:07:53] Tip 5: Set Realistic Expectations Avoid overloading your to-do list. Instead, focus on what's achievable and plan with flexibility to accommodate unexpected changes. Walt Hampton, CEO of Summit Success International and author of The Power Principles of Time Mastery: Do Less, Make More, Have Fun, joins us to share his insights on reclaiming time, energy, and focus for leaders. In a world where many fall into the habit of saying "yes" too often, Walt highlights how this can lead to burnout and inefficiency. He stresses the importance of intentional time management, blocking time for deep work, and confidently saying "no" to protect our most valuable resources. By doing so, we avoid opportunity costs and maintain our personal energy for what truly matters. Walt offers practical strategies for time mastery, such as aligning our daily schedules with our core values and understanding our most productive rhythms. He encourages us to make time for self-care, creativity, and strategic thinking by working smarter, not harder. His approach empowers leaders to prioritize what's most important and create lasting success through more focused, intentional effort. Key Takeaways: The Power of Saying No: Learning to say "no" is essential for leaders to avoid burnout and focus on high-value tasks. Block Time for Deep Work: Use uninterrupted blocks of time to work on important projects and maximize productivity. Align Time with Values: Ensure your schedule reflects your top priorities and values for a more fulfilling and efficient work-life balance. Understand Productive Rhythms: Work in 60-90 minute blocks during your most productive times and take breaks to maintain energy. If you missed the first two parts of the series, you can listen to them here:   Part 1: Is your home ready for the holidays? Start HERE for stress-free holiday prep  Part 2: Refresh your home for the holidays with these 5 simple, budget friendly tips In today's episode, I'm taking a cue from my business and working smarter not harder in order to prep my home for the holidays. Having a clean house is a pivotal part before welcoming guests in, but cleaning can sometimes be a bore and an absolutely chore. So today, I'm sharing how just as I batch work in my business for efficiency, we're taking that strategy to batch clean. Get ready to get more done in less time.  The rules of batching? 1. Start by writing down all of the chores you do in order to deep clean (remember - guest eyes only areas). Ex) dust baseboards, wash windows, pick lint out of edges of carpet :), dust flat surfaces, deep clean the toilets 2. Then, instead of going room to room to complete one room at a time, try cleaning in like-categories. Cleaning the toilets, for example, require a different set of tools or supplies than dusting.  3. Start by cleaning one like-category at a time. In this example, toilets. Gather all the tools and supplies you need to deep clean the toilets and do ALL the toilets before moving on to the next like-category (ie. window/glass surface cleaning) After all areas have been deep cleaned, use this same strategy to tidy clean the week of your holiday before the guest's arrival.  // Links mentioned in show: // Email: hello@figandfarmathome.com Website: https://figandfarmathome.com Book a Decorating SOS Coaching Call: https://www.figandfarmathome.com/decorating-sos Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/figandfarm/ FREE Facebook Community: https://www.bit.ly/design101group The Collective Membership Waitlist: https://figandfarmathome.myflodesk.com/waitlist   Happy styling!! xo, dani
