Youth ministry is hard work... but it was never meant to depend on one person doing everything. In this episode of Youth Worker On Fire, Doug Edwards shares a practical and biblical challenge for youth pastors, student ministry volunteers, church leaders, and parents: work smarter, not harder, by following Jesus' model of discipleship, delegation, and multiplication. If you are a volunteer youth leader, part-time youth pastor, or full-time student ministry leader, you already know the weight of ministry. The planning, teaching, trips, retreats, mission work, public school outreach, discipleship, counseling, and constant care for students can quickly become overwhelming. But Jesus did not build His ministry around doing everything Himself. He equipped disciples who would carry the mission forward. Doug unpacks key passages including Ephesians 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:2, Mark 3:13-15, and Matthew 28:19-20 to remind leaders that the goal is not simply to build bigger programs - it is to make disciples who make disciples. In this episode, you'll be encouraged to: • Stop carrying the entire ministry alone • Equip volunteers and students to do the work of ministry • Build a student ministry that can continue without depending only on you • Follow Jesus' model of investing deeply in a few to reach many • Delegate with purpose instead of guilt • Avoid burnout through sustainable leadership • Create disciple makers, not just event attenders Doug also shares how a forced sabbatical helped him realize he had waited too long to delegate and trust others with ministry responsibility. The question every youth pastor and ministry leader should ask is: If you disappeared for six months, would the ministry stop or would it continue because you developed disciple makers? Working harder may increase what you can accomplish. Equipping others increases what God can accomplish through His people. Disciple. Delegate. Multiply. Why?Because most people are doing the right things in the wrong nervous system state.Joining me is Katie Hardie, board-certified holistic nutritionist and founder of MyPeak, as we unpack:Why “normal” lab results don't always mean optimal healthThe difference between being functional vs truly thrivingHow hidden stress keeps your body stuck in survival modeWhy digestion, sleep, hormones, and energy suffer under chronic stressHow breathwork and nervous system regulation unlock sustainable performanceThe cost of hustle culture and why slowing down actually expands your outputWe also talk about:Functional vs conventional lab rangesWhy common symptoms aren't the same as normalHow self-worth gets tied to productivityThe role of HRV, breathwork, and heart coherence in stress recoveryThis conversation is for high-achieving women who are tired of pushing through, settling, or normalizing burnout and are ready to feel energized, focused, and aligned again.===▸ Toronto Events – Do you live in the GTA? In this highlight episode of How to Run a Successful Business and Still Have a Life, Stacey Morgan continues her time-management mini-series with Part Two of “15 Ways to Maximise Your Time.” Building on last week’s discussion, Stacey shares five practical productivity strategies that help business owners reduce overwhelm, create breathing room, and work more intentionally. She explains the importance of buffer blocks (or white space/flamingo time) to prevent burnout and allow for flexibility when the day doesn’t go as planned. Stacey also emphasises the power of colour-coding your calendar so you can visually assess balance across work, family, rest, and other priorities. Listeners are encouraged to stop doing things “because they’ve always been done that way” and instead find faster, simpler, or more efficient alternatives—sometimes eliminating tasks altogether. Stacey also dives into the value of saying no to coffee meetings, replacing them with short, purposeful 20-minute check-ins that respect everyone’s time. Finally, she recommends asking: “Could this meeting be replaced with a video?”—a simple question that often saves hours and keeps teams focused. This episode is filled with practical shifts you can apply immediately to reclaim your time and start!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

New year momentum feeling… meh?Same. And also, it doesn't actually matter. In this episode, we're talking about the phrase that gets thrown around constantly in business and why it completely misses the point: “work smarter, not harder.”Because you don't need to be smarter. You don't need “better time management.”You don't need to “push harder” in January. What you actually need is structure that supports you so your business doesn't rely on you for every single thing.Inside this episode, you'll hear:why “work smarter not harder” is secretly kind of insultingthe real reason salon owners stay exhausted even when fully bookedhow businesses get built to depend on you without you realizing itwhy adding more clients often makes things worse, not betterthe difference between two same-size salons with totally different owner lifestyleswhat changes when structure exists vs. when it doesn'tthe shift from “How do I keep up?” to “What needs to exist so I don't have to?”This year isn't about pushing harder. It's about building a business that works, especially when you're not there. If this conversation has you thinking, “Okay… I'm ready for structure”, you already know where we do that:Join The Monday Club:Where systems, leadership, and compounding cash come together so you can stop being the only lever in your business.https://www.lexilomax.com/monday-club

Pool Pros text questions hereOn this Talking Pools episode, host Natalie Hood, Director of Education and Network Development for The Grit Game, sits down with Jodi O'Grady, Director of Commercial Sales for API Water and long-time industry chemist, to unpack one of the most misunderstood topics in pool care: specialty chemicals.Chlorine gets all the attention, but oxidizers, enzymes, and flocculants quietly decide whether your water is comfortable, clear, and compliant—or a cloudy, smelly headache full of disinfection byproducts and complaints. Jodi draws on decades with Taylor Water Technologies and her work on PHTA's Technical Advisory Council to bust myths, explain the science in plain language, and show how specialty products can support (not replace) chlorine to keep pools safer and easier to manage. If you've ever wondered whether non-chlorine shock actually does anything, if enzymes are all “basically the same,” or what Flock It Friday is really about, this episode connects the dots.In This Episode, You'll Learn:Chlorine's job vs. specialty chemicals' jobWhy chlorine (or bromine/PHMB) is irreplaceable as a sanitizer and must be EPA-registered to be counted as such. The difference between sanitizing (killing pathogens like Pseudomonas and brain-eating amoeba in properly chlorinated water) and oxidizing (burning off non-living contaminants). Why “chlorine can be replaced by specialty chemicals” is a myth—and how crypto is a different beast entirely.Non-chlorine oxidizers: the quiet workhorseReal-world impact of high chlorine levelsEnzymes: not “all the same”Myth-busting with real storiesFlock It Friday and how flocculants actually workClarity as a safety standard, not a luxuryThe payoff for pros and operatorsGuest Info – Jodi O'Grady, API WaterDirector of Commercial Sales, API WaterNearly 30 years in the pool industry, starting with Taylor Water Technologies (a Fluidra brand)Chemistry degree and long-time volunteer with PHTA, currently Vice Chair of the Technical Advisory Council, with prior work on the Recreational Water and Air Quality Committee.Jodi is available for follow-up questions and industry conversations via LinkedIn and direct contact (details provided in the episode outro).Host Info – Natalie HoodDirector of Education and Network Development, The Grit Game, and regular host on the Talking Pools Podcast, focused on education, professional development, and giving pool pros real-world tools they can use on deck tomorrow. In this powerful conclusion to our three-part time leadership series, Tracy tackles one of the most repeated—and least helpful—pieces of productivity advice: "work smarter, not harder." Through the compelling story of Dr. David, an ER physician turned regenerative medicine practice owner, you'll discover why this platitude fails and what to do instead. Tracy introduces a concrete methodology for strategic work allocation that helped Dr. David redirect 15 hours per week from low-value interruptions to high-value work that only he could perform. The result? Substantial revenue growth, improved patient flow, and a more confident, self-sufficient team—all while working the same number of hours. Click here for full show notes Is your practice growth-ready? See Where Your Practice Stands: Take our Practice Growth Readiness Assessment Download the Time Leadership Delegation Tool Episode Highlights Why "work smarter" is useless advice: It offers zero actionable guidance on how to actually work differently The critical distinction: Time leadership isn't about getting extra free time—it's about strategic reallocation to work that only you can do Dr. David's breakthrough: Discovering he spent 15 hours weekly on work that didn't require his expertise The three strategic changes: Training staff for self-sufficiency, redesigning clinical schedules around highest-value work, and fixing the scheduling system The scheduling protocol that changed everything: How offering two specific appointment options eliminated chaos and six weekly interruptions Real results: How 12 redirected hours created substantial revenue increases and improved practice flow The Discovery-Analysis-Action framework: Tracy's proven methodology for lasting change Memorable Quotes "Time leadership isn't about efficiency—it's about effectiveness. It's not about doing things faster—it's about doing the right things and ensuring the wrong things aren't on your plate at all." "The question isn't 'how do I work smarter?' The question is 'what work should I actually be doing, and what needs to stop being on my plate?'" "You're not getting 'extra' time. You're reclaiming strategic capacity that's currently being drained by the wrong work." "Awareness without action is just expensive entertainment. You can understand time leadership intellectually and still be overwhelmed six months from now." "I finally understand the difference between being busy and being effective. I'm working the same number of hours, but the work I'm doing is completely different." —Dr. David This episode delivers the practical implementation guide you've been waiting for in the time leadership series. Whether you're a physician, dentist, or other healthcare practice owner, Tracy's methodology for strategic work allocation will help you stop playing every instrument in the orchestra and start conducting. This week we're unpacking one of Carie Ann's most personal Disney experiences, 1998's Mulan. Ross struggles frequently with this film as one that was not marketed towards him, but was very familar with the familial expectations surrounding gender norms. Carie expresses distaste with the character of Mushu in her adult life, as well as the valuable take-away that no one person will ever fit super snugly into the binary boxes of gender norms. The siblings remark on what it means to be a credit to your own family, and also how you will never fit into the binary boxes society has set up.... I'm diving into one of my all-time favorite productivity mantras: work smarter, not harder. If you've ever found yourself running on empty, crossing 37 things off your to-do list—but still feeling like you're getting nowhere—then buckle up, because this one's for you. I kick things off by sharing a real-deal, behind-the-scenes story from my days as a high-performance athlete, when I finally learned the difference between just grinding... and training strategically. Spoiler alert: hustling harder didn't get me to the podium—smarter strategy did. That shift in mindset changed everything for me, and today I'm breaking down how you can apply the exact same principles to your business and everyday life. We'll talk about the trap of reactive work vs. strategic work—yep, there's a difference between being busy and being effective, and I'm not afraid to call it out. I'll also walk you through my signature three-step process to actually work smarter, so you can spend less time on the hamster wheel and more time making powerful moves that drive real results. And because I know you're wondering—yes, I'll tackle those pesky, non-needle-moving tasks that steal your time and sabotage your focus (I see you, inbox!).
